  • Taylor Swift taking a ‘step back’ from Blake Lively as dramatic legal battle with Justin Baldoni threatens their decade-long friendship

Taylor Swift is taking a step back from her friendship with Blake Lively after feeling like she was used as an ‘intimidation tactic’ by the actress in a lawsuit she never wanted to be embroiled in.

The singer, 35, was dragged into the explosive legal feud between Lively, 37, and Justin Baldoni, 41, when he claimed his costar used Swift to intimidate him at a meeting with her husband Ryan Reynolds about edits she had made to a rooftop scene in their film, It Ends with Us.

In his $400 million lawsuit, filed earlier this month, Baldoni said Swift showed up and made him feel like he ‘needed to comply with Blake’s direction for the script’.

Lively later appeared to threaten Baldoni by comparing herself to Game of Thrones character Khaleesi in a series of text messages in which she referred to Reynolds, 48, and her best friend as her ‘dragons’.

The ‘uncool and unnecessary’ description was reportedly the final straw for Swift who had never planned to be at the meeting, but arrived at Lively’s New York penthouse to find it was still ongoing.

‘For the time being she is taking a step back from Blake because she doesn’t want to get tangled in this more than she already has – which is far more than she ever needed to be,’ an insider told DailyMail.com.

‘Her friends also think that Blake’s “I’m Khaleesi, and like her, I happen to have dragons” text to Justin was uncool and unnecessary because she was essentially used as an intimidation tactic. She was referred to as some kind of pet or possession.

‘Taylor shouldn’t even be involved in this at all. She was only going over to visit Blake and Ryan with the understanding that the meeting would be over.’

Khaleesi, also known as Daenerys Targaryen and Mother of Dragons, is one of the main characters in Game of Thrones, which aired between 2011 to 2019.

She was portrayed as a villain after descending into madness and turning to vengeance due to trauma and loss.

A second source said: ‘Taylor has politely backed away from it all. She is conscious of her own image and hates that she was even mentioned.’

The decision will no doubt shock fans of the Cruel Summer singer, who has been friends with the former Gossip Girl lead for a decade, with the pair celebrating milestones together and Swift even name dropping Lively’s children in her music.

She appeared to rally around Lively when rumours of rancour between the actress and Baldoni first started bubbling in August.

She was pictured arriving at Swift’s Rhode Island property, taking solace at the $17 million, eight bedroom estate alongside her husband Reynolds, to escape the frenzy.

At the time Lively was being called out for her ‘tone deaf’ marketing, apparently dismissing interview questions about domestic violence – a major theme in the movie – in favour of telling people to grab their ‘florals’ and head to the cinema.

Others accused her of using the attention to plug her alcohol brand Betty Booze.

Resurfaced interviews showing the actress being ‘rude’ to reporters also went viral on social media.

Lively and Swift were last pictured together in October on a double date with Deadpool actor Reynolds and Swift’s boyfriend Travis Kelce in Manhattan.

The outing came two months before she filed a complaint with the California Civil Rights Department in which she accused Baldoni of sexual harassment and creating a toxic environment on the set of It Ends with Us.

At the same time, the New York Times released a story based on her legal filing that accused him of orchestrating a smear campaign against her.

Swift, whose song My Tears Ricochet was featured in the soundtrack, was then pulled into the roller coaster saga when Baldoni fired back with a stinging $400 million counter suit against Lively and Reynolds in which he accused the Hollywood couple of conspiring to trash his reputation.

Baldoni, who is also suing the Times for defamation, claimed Lively hijacked the filming of the movie as he attempted to blow her allegations to smithereens.

The ‘uncool and unnecessary’ description was the final straw for Swift who had never planned to be at the meeting, but arrived at Lively’s New York penthouse to find it was still ongoing.

The ‘uncool and unnecessary’ description was the final straw for Swift who had never planned to be at the meeting, but arrived at Lively’s New York penthouse to find it was still ongoing.

In her filing, the actress claimed a meeting was held at her home in January 2024 to address ‘a hostile work environment that had nearly derailed production’ and that both parties ‘discussed in detail the inappropriate conduct’ that Lively and other cast and crew experienced at the hands of Baldoni.

But in his suit, Baldoni claimed he was invited over with a Sony executive to discuss her rewrite of a rooftop scene when Reynolds ‘launched into enthusiastic praise for [Lively’s version]’. They were also joined by her ‘mega-celebrity friend to pressure him’.

While Baldoni did not name the famous pal he was referring to, he included screenshots of a later conversation with Lively, and one message showed him mentioning someone named ‘Taylor.’

It is during this exchange that Baldoni claims the actress joked that if he ever got ‘around to watching Game of Thrones’ that he would ‘appreciate that’ she is Khaleesi.

‘And like her, I happen to have a few dragons,’ she allegedly wrote. ‘For better or worse, but usually for better. Because my dragons also protect those I fight for. So really we all benefit from those gorgeous monsters of mine. you will too, I can promise you.’

He also claims Reynolds ‘aggressively’ accused him of making offensive comments as well as ‘fat shaming’ her.

It Ends with Us was a box-office hit, earning $351 million worldwide despite a $25 million budget.

It’s been a rollercoaster of emotions for fans of Taylor Swift and Blake Lively as reports have surfaced of a dramatic legal battle between the two, threatening their decade-long friendship. The feud allegedly stems from a dispute with actor Justin Baldoni, who has been caught in the middle of the drama.

In light of the escalating situation, Taylor Swift has reportedly made the difficult decision to take a ‘step back’ from her friendship with Blake Lively. The two have been close friends for years, often seen supporting each other at events and celebrating milestones together.

The legal battle with Justin Baldoni has put a strain on their relationship, with sources revealing that tensions are running high between the once inseparable duo. Despite their efforts to resolve the conflict, it seems that the damage may be irreversible.

Fans are left heartbroken over the news, as Taylor Swift and Blake Lively’s friendship has been a beacon of light in the entertainment industry. Many are hoping that the two will be able to mend their relationship and move past this difficult time.

As the situation continues to unfold, all we can do is wait and hope for a resolution that will bring peace to everyone involved. Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story.

  • Sean Penn Sparking Early Oscar Buzz for PTA’s ‘One Battle After Another? — World of Reel

It’s way too early to speculate about next year’s Oscars, but industry insider Kris Tapley, who last worked for Netflix, has decided to start the campaign early for Sean Penn.

He’s echoing what I previously reported about Penn’s performance in Paul Thomas Anderson’s “One Battle After Another”; the man is said to be “absolutely terrifying” as Col. Steven J. Lockjaw.

I reported that, apparently, Penn “steals the show” as Lockjaw. Sporting a grey-ish hawk, his character is described as a “great villain” that has the power and presence to give you nightmares.

Tapley is taking it a step further, implying that an unnamed Oscar-nominated filmmaker recently told him that Penn could very well win a third Oscar for his work in PTA’s film:

Sean Penn Sparking Early Oscar Buzz for PTA’s ‘One Battle After Another? — World of Reel

As awards season approaches, the buzz surrounding potential Oscar contenders is starting to build. One name that is already generating a lot of attention is Sean Penn, who stars in Paul Thomas Anderson’s upcoming film “One Battle After Another.”

Penn’s performance in the film has been described as nothing short of transformative, with many critics hailing it as one of the actor’s best performances to date. His portrayal of a war veteran struggling to re-adjust to civilian life has been praised for its raw emotion and depth.

With a director like Paul Thomas Anderson at the helm, known for his meticulous attention to detail and ability to bring out the best in his actors, it’s no surprise that Penn’s performance is already generating Oscar buzz.

Of course, it’s still early days and there are many more films set to be released before the Oscars take place. But if the early reactions are anything to go by, Sean Penn could be a strong contender for a Best Actor nomination come awards season.

Keep an eye on this space for all the latest updates on “One Battle After Another” and the rest of the awards season contenders.

  • Celtics Guard Selected For Rising Stars Battle At All-Star Weekend

Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown won’t be the only Boston Celtics representatives at NBA All-Star Weekend in San Francisco.

Members of the Rising Stars rosters were announced Tuesday and third-year Celtics guard JD Davison made the cut. The 22-year-old will join young up-and-comers like Dalton Knecht of the Los Angeles Lakers and Victor Wembanyama of the San Antonio Spurs for the Feb. 14 showcasing. Davison was among 28 players chosen — 10 rookies, 10 sophomores and seven G Leaguers — to participate.

Davison, a second-round pick in the 2022 draft, has spent most of the season with Boston’s G League affiliate Maine Celtics. He’s been the third-leading scorer in the G League, so far, averaging a career-high 26.5 points on 48.3% shooting from the field with 4.8 rebounds and 8.3 assists through 15 games — impressive enough to earn some All-Star Weekend recognition, but not enough for a major call-up.

Boston hasn’t relied on Davison since drafting the Alabama product three years ago. While developmental players like Neemias Queta and Sam Hauser have escaped the G League stepping stone, Davison has remained put. He’s an explosive athletic, semi-crafty guard with an undersized 6-foot-2 frame that doesn’t help Davison’s struggles to score when given the chance to suit up for head coach Joe Mazzulla.

The Celtics are 47 games into their championship defense and have gone 3-9 in games following a win since Dec. 18. They most recently tumbled to Ime Udoka’s Houston Rockets at TD Garden on Monday night, marking the fifth Boston defeat in its last 10 games. The ongoing slump and inability to replicate last season’s success on both ends of the floor have prompted a hovering palm over the panic button — pending the team’s first red-hot run — and at the very least, a roster transaction of some sort.

    Story continues below advertisement

Jaden Springer, a non-factor who’s spent most of the campaign keeping the bench warm, has been floated as a potential trade candidate. It would help clear up $4 million off the team’s salary cap and allow the franchise to consider giving Davison a promotion. That possibility might be a bit of a stretch considering Davison has attempted only 1.4 shots in the NBA across 25 appearances in the past three years and the Celtics are in a win-now window. But there’s still a chance nonetheless.

Exciting news for Celtics fans! Celtics guard, Jaylen Brown, has been selected to participate in the Rising Stars Challenge at All-Star Weekend. Brown has been a key player for the Celtics this season, showcasing his scoring ability and defensive prowess.

The Rising Stars Challenge features the top first and second-year players in the league, giving fans a glimpse of the future stars of the NBA. Brown’s selection is a testament to his hard work and dedication on the court.

Celtics fans can look forward to seeing Brown compete against other young talents in the league during All-Star Weekend. Make sure to tune in and support our rising star, Jaylen Brown! #Celtics #JaylenBrown #RisingStarsChallenge #NBAAllStar

  • 5 players to watch when Bruins battle Sabres in Buffalo

Dec 21, 2024; Boston, Massachusetts, USA; Boston Bruins center Charlie Coyle (13) knocks home his own rebound for a goal on Buffalo Sabres goaltender James Reimer (47) during the first period at TD Garden. Mandatory Credit: Winslow Townson-Imagn Images

The Bruins are not out of the woods just yet, but there’s no denying that interim head coach Joe Sacco’s club has done a more-than-solid job of keeping their heads above water in a crowded Eastern Conference playoff picture. And more specifically, with two of their best defensmen unavailable, with Charlie McAvoy joining Hampus Lindholm on the shelf for the last six games.

It’s a stretch that’s played out to the Bruins grabbing 11 of a possible 14 points (and again, with McAvoy unavailable for six of those games), and one that will have to continue Tuesday night, with a head-to-head against the Sabres standing out as the lone potential ‘gimme’ of Boston’s pre-break slate.

And it has to be that kind of night for the Bruins, to be honest, as Buffalo comes into play as just one of four teams in all of hockey to be at least 10 points out of a playoff spot. And Buffalo’s by far the worst, too, with just 31 points on the year and the only Eastern Conference team truly out of contention by now.

Here’s five players to keep an eye on when the puck drops tonight in Buffalo…

    Morgan Geekie

Bruins winger Morgan Geekie is one of the hottest players going for Joe Sacco’s squad right now. And with goals in three straight games (and four goals overall over that span), all eyes will be on the 6-foot-3 Geekie to see if he can make it four straight on Tuesday night.

If Geekie scores on Tuesday, he’ll be the first B’s skater to have a four-game goal-scoring streak since Brad Marchand accomplished the feat in January last year. In fact, all but one of the last 21 goal streaks of at least four games from a B’s scorer have been accomplished by Marchand, David Pastrnak, Jake DeBrusk, or Patrice Bergeron. The lone outlier over that stretch of 21: A four-game goal streak for Charlie Coyle during the first month of the 2022-23 season.

Geekie scored the game-winning goal in the only prior Buffalo-Boston showdown this season (Dec. 21 in Boston), and has two goals in three head-to-heads with the Sabres since joining the Bruins.

    Charlie Coyle

After a three-game goal streak in late December, things have cooled down for the Bruins’ Charlie Coyle, who comes into tonight’s game with just two goals and six points in his last 14 games. (And both of those goals over that 14-game sample came in the third period of last week’s win over the Sharks.)

But if prior history is an indicator of what’s to come, a head-to-head with Buffalo could be just what the doctor ordered to get the Weymouth, Mass. native’s offensive game going.

When these teams met back in December, Coyle put Buffalo’s James Reimer in a torture chamber with a multi-hack effort that ended up in the back of the Buffalo net, and going back to last season, Coyle has scored three goals on 13 shots in four games against the Sabres. Go back even further and Coyle has recorded seven goals and 13 points in 12 head-to-heads against the Sabres since 2021-22.

Coyle is projected to skate to the right of Brad Marchand and Matt Poitras on Boston’s second line.

    Andrew Peeke

Despite practicing on Monday, the Bruins remain without Charlie McAvoy (and Hampus Lindholm) for Tuesday’s contest against the Sabres. And Tuesday came with another potential issue on the backend, with Brandon Carlo considered a game-time decision due to an illness. And if the bug is enough to keep Carlo on the shelf (I’d argue that you almost want it to be given the way it’s gone through the Boston room lately), that’s going to absolutely hammer the right side of Boston’s defense, and set Andrew Peeke up for what could be a big night of munching minutes.

Of course, that’s nothing new for Peeke, who played at least 20 minutes in the six games that the Bruins have played without McAvoy. But with Carlo potentially out, that number could hit yet another season-high (Peeke logged a season-high 22:43 last Saturday against Colorado).

The 6-foot-3, 216-pound Peeke has answered the bell throughout the McAvoy absence, with one goal, three assists, plus-5 rating, and 12 blocks in six games.

    Alex Tuch

If the Bruins enter this deadline season looking to make a hockey trade, I can’t help but wonder if this is finally the year they make a serious push for the Sabres’ Alex Tuch.

A right-shot, right wing, Tuch is enjoying yet another successful season for himself, with 16 goals and 35 points in 49 games for the Sabres. The 28-year-old Tuch also has some term left on his current contract, too, with a $4.75 million cap hit through the 2025-26 season. And just from a Sweeney/Bruins scope of sorts, Tuch checks a whole lot of boxes: He’s 6-foot-4, he played at Boston College, and he has some playoff history, with 19 goals and 33 points in 66 career playoff games. I mean, it all just screams Bruin.

If the Bruins were to acquire Tuch, he would immediately provide some much-needed secondary help behind the David Pastrnak line, and would give the Bruins the bonafide scoring threat they lost when they decided to let Jake DeBrusk leave as an unrestricted free agent last summer.

As far as the now goes, Tuch comes into Tuesday’s contest with four goals and seven points in his last nine games, and has scored three goals and six points in seven head-to-head showdowns against the Bruins since joining the Sabres in 2021.

    Jason Zucker

Another player to watch if you’re trade deadline window shopping from a Bruins POV? Jason Zucker.

A pending unrestricted free agent, the 33-year-old Zucker has certainly been a Buffalo success story this season, with 16 goals and 36 points in 47 appearances. And one additional note when it comes to Zucker and his potential connection to Boston is that Zucker is an extremely close friend of Bruins forward Charlie Coyle, as the two played against each other as kids and later came up through the Minnesota system together, and Coyle was actually the best man at Zucker’s wedding.

Zucker, who is a left shot, has also been one of the hottest scorers in the league for the last month and change, too, with eight goals and 15 points in 14 games since Dec. 21. His 15 points over that span enter tonight’s contest as the 43rd-most among all NHLers.

The Boston Bruins are set to take on the Buffalo Sabres in an exciting matchup in Buffalo. Here are 5 players to keep an eye on during the game:

    1. Brad Marchand (Boston Bruins) – Marchand is a dynamic forward known for his scoring ability and agitating style of play. He is always a threat to make a big play and can change the course of a game in an instant.

    2. Jack Eichel (Buffalo Sabres) – Eichel is the Sabres’ captain and one of the most talented young players in the league. He has a lethal shot and great playmaking ability, and is always a danger to score whenever he is on the ice.

    3. David Pastrnak (Boston Bruins) – Pastrnak is a skilled winger who has a knack for finding the back of the net. He leads the Bruins in scoring and is a key player on their power play unit.

    4. Rasmus Dahlin (Buffalo Sabres) – Dahlin is a highly-touted young defenseman who was the first overall pick in the 2018 NHL Draft. He is a smooth skater and has great offensive instincts, making him a threat in the offensive zone.

    5. Tuukka Rask (Boston Bruins) – Rask is the Bruins’ veteran goaltender and one of the best in the league. He has the ability to steal games for his team and is always a reliable presence between the pipes.

These players will play a crucial role in determining the outcome of the game, so be sure to keep an eye on them when the Bruins and Sabres face off in Buffalo.

The Kansas City Chiefs and the Philadelphia Eagles will meet in Super Bowl LIX on Feb. 9 at the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans.

NFL fans will get to witness some of the best the league has to offer in terms of talent on the field. Patrick Mahomes and Jalen Hurts will go head-to-head for the second time as they met in the big game two years ago. The Chiefs won that matchup.

The Eagles will have someone in their backfield they did not have before – running back Saquon Barkley. Out of all the NFL MVP finalists this season, he is the last man standing in the playoffs. He has broken off huge runs for the Eagles and has been a huge factor in why Philadelphia has gotten as far as they have this year.

The major storyline for some will be about the Chiefs as they look to do something unprecedented – win three consecutive Super Bowl titles. Kansas City is also the first team to even get an opportunity to compete for it.

Mahomes commented on the possibility of entering a different stratosphere compared to other quarterbacks after defeating the Buffalo Bills in the AFC Championship.

“It always comes down to the wire. Luckily, we were on the winning side this time. But like I said, I’m just excited to get down to New Orleans,” Mahomes said. “Let’s go make history.”
