  • Tom Kim tops tee shot, makes chip-in birdie to start third round at Pebble Beach Pro-Am

Tom Kim had quite the adventure down Pebble Beach’s par-4 opener on Saturday to start his third round of the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, the second signature event of the PGA Tour’s season.

Sitting four shots back of leader Sepp Straka, Kim teed off alongside Tony Finau and Andrew Novak. But his first tee shot of the day didn’t go as planned. The 22-year-old topped it, with the ball barely getting above the ground. Luckily for Kim, it rolled out and finished 169 yards away from the pin in the fairway.

His second wasn’t much better, missing the green to the left and leaving himself a tricky up-and-down for par. But he did one better, making the chip shot for birdie. It looked like a three the whole way.

Tom Kim made quite the statement to start his third round at the Pebble Beach Pro-Am. With all eyes on him, Kim stepped up to the tee and unleashed a perfect drive that sailed straight down the fairway, leaving him in prime position for his approach shot.

But Kim wasn’t satisfied with just a good drive. He continued to impress as he confidently strode up to his ball and expertly chipped it in for a birdie on the first hole. The crowd erupted in cheers as Kim took an early lead in the round, setting the tone for what would turn out to be an incredible day of golf.

Kim’s performance was nothing short of spectacular, showcasing his skill and determination on one of the most iconic courses in the world. As he continues his quest for victory at the Pebble Beach Pro-Am, fans can only wait in anticipation to see what other incredible shots he has in store.

  • 2025 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am purse, prize money: Payout for golfers, winner’s share from $20 million pool

The second signature event of the 2025 PGA Tour season means the second big winner’s check is up for grabs at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am. Playing for $20 million and a winner’s share of $3,600,000, 80 competitors will give it their all on the Monterey Peninsula.

Last season, Scottie Scheffler took care of a majority of the signature events. Playing in seven of them as he chose to forgo the Wells Fargo Championship, the world No. 1 collected four winner’s checks, including the elevated $4 million top prize at the Arnold Palmer Invitational given its status as a player invitational.

Rory McIlroy, Hideki Matsuyama, Chris Kirk and Wyndham Clark were the four other players to win signature events in 2024, and Matsuyama has already done it again in 2025 with his triumph at The Sentry. He looks to follow in the footsteps of Scheffler by cashing multiple signature event checks; Clark came into the week as the reigning champion, giving him a leg up on the competition as well.

The eventual winner is not the only player who will see a bump in his bank account by tournament’s end. Those who finish inside the top 10 will clear $500,000 with those inside the top 35 all making at least six figures for their play at Pebble Beach.

Let’s take a look at how the payouts for the 2025 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am were be divided among the 80 players at Pebble Beach Golf Links.

  • PGA Tour weather forecast for 2025 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am golf event

The PGA Tour got its first dose of weather last week at the 2025 Farmers Insurance Open. High winds forced a nearly 90-minute delay during Thursday’s second round.

Up next is the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, an event known for having to deal with pretty much all the possible elements Mother Nature can dish out.

In 2024, the final round was postponed to Monday and then canceled altogether Sunday night after a full day of high winds with more expected at the Monterey Peninsula. Wyndham Clark, the 54-hole leader, was declared the winner and while he did come back to the golf course Monday to collect his trophy and take some pictures, most of the images that people saw in the days that followed were of debris strewn about and trees knocked over.

High winds blow against television towers and course signage during the weather-delayed 2024 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am at Pebble Beach Golf Links.

It was the first time the tournament was shortened since 2009 when Dustin Johnson was the victor.

Weather forecast for 2025 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am

So how are things looking for 2025?

The PGA Tour released its weather forecast for the week and Thursday’s first round should have mostly cloudy skies and zero percent chance of rain. Come the weekend, though, and it’s looking like a 20 percent chance of rain all three days.

The 2025 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am is just around the corner, and golf fans are eagerly awaiting the action on the iconic Pebble Beach Golf Links. But what can players and spectators expect in terms of weather for this year’s tournament?

According to the latest forecast, the weather for the 2025 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am looks to be picture-perfect for golf. With sunny skies and temperatures in the mid-60s to low 70s throughout the tournament, players can expect ideal conditions for their rounds. Light breezes coming off the Pacific Ocean will provide a refreshing sea breeze, adding an extra challenge for players as they navigate the famous coastal course.

While the weather at Pebble Beach can be unpredictable at times, it looks like Mother Nature is smiling down on this year’s event. So grab your sunscreen and your favorite golf hat, because it’s shaping up to be a beautiful week of golf at one of the most stunning courses in the world. Don’t miss out on the action and tune in to see some of the best golfers in the world compete in the 2025 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am!

  • Sepp Straka, contenders set to face rainy, gusty weather conditions at Pebble Beach

Sepp Straka escaped much of the nasty weather on Friday at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.

He likely won’t be so lucky on Saturday.

Straka fired a second straight 7-under 65, this time at Pebble Beach Golf Links, to take a three-shot lead. Straka benefitted from about 14 holes in little to no wind, while other challengers, including Rory McIlroy and Scottie Scheffler, teed off later and spent more time in the tougher conditions.

Now, though, McIlroy and Scheffler are on the better end of the draw. While tournament officials will send the field off split tees and in threesomes, Straka will still tee off at 1:35 p.m. local time, nearly two and a half hours after the first group.

According to the PGA Tour’s official weather bulletin, winds are expected to ramp up around noon, with 14-20 mph sustained and 28 mph gusts forecasted through at least 2 p.m. The 4 p.m. forecast calls for 10-16 mph sustained and 25 mph gusts. There is a 60% chance of rain at noon and 2 p.m., while temperatures are not expected to get into the 60s.

“Just kind of accepting bad shots, that’s where the patience comes in,” said Straka, who also is battling the lingering effects of the flu. “You’re going to get the wind wrong every now and then if it gusts up, and these greens are tiny, so small mistakes can have a big outcome.”

Some players in early groups have already started to make moves, too, including Scheffler, who was 3 under through five holes and 10 under overall, four back of Straka, before Straka teed off.

As the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am gets underway, players like Sepp Straka and other contenders are gearing up to face some challenging weather conditions. The forecast calls for rainy and gusty weather throughout the tournament, adding an extra layer of difficulty to an already tough course.

Sepp Straka, coming off a strong performance at the Waste Management Phoenix Open, will need to rely on his skill and mental toughness to navigate the wet and windy conditions at Pebble Beach. With his accurate ball-striking and solid putting, Straka has the game to contend no matter what the weather throws at him.

Other top contenders, including past champions and major winners, will also be looking to embrace the adverse conditions and use them to their advantage. The unpredictable nature of the weather at Pebble Beach can lead to exciting and unexpected outcomes, making for an exciting tournament for fans to watch.

As players like Sepp Straka and others prepare to battle the elements, they will need to stay focused, patient, and adaptable in order to come out on top. The AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am promises to be a true test of skill and resilience, with the weather adding an extra element of drama to an already prestigious event. Stay tuned to see how the players handle the rainy, gusty conditions and who will emerge victorious in the end.

  • 2025 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am: Sepp Straka tops leaderboard with Tony Finau, Tom Kim pushing

PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. (AP) — Sepp Straka got most of his work done before the weather started to turn Friday in the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, posting another 7-under 65 for a three-shot lead that left Rory McIlroy, Scottie Scheffler and everyone having to chase him.

Straka, coming off a win two weeks ago in the California desert, showed a game that works just fine at sea level in less-than-ideal conditions, particularly the final hour.

Out came the mittens and beanies. Down came the temperature, accompanied by a little rain.

McIlroy went from challenging for the lead to making four bogeys in a six-hole stretch, before he finished his wild back nine at Pebble Beach with a 25-foot eagle putt to salvage a 70 that left him six shots behind.

Scheffler took a walk down the beach on the 18th hole, turning a potential bogey into a par when he hopped down a pair of rock ledges to the sandy soil, managed to get his ball back into play and hit 6-iron to the green. He shot 70 and was seven behind.

Andrew Novak got his first victory on the PGA Tour, which comes with a plaque on the wall off the first tee, not a trip to the Masters. Novak teamed with billionaire investor Philippe Laffont to win the pro-am.

The weekend at Pebble Beach is only for the 79 pros — Ludvig Aberg had to withdraw with an illness that affected him last week at Torrey Pines — and for the hardiest of players.

Gusts approaching 30 mph are in the forecast, along with spots of rain. Pebble Beach, that felicitous meeting of land and sea, is a beast in nasty weather.

“Went from zero to about 20 miles an hour pretty quickly,” Straka said of his final four holes at Pebble Beach, which including missing a 3-foot par putt on the 16th for his only bogey of the round, and a 4-iron into 30 feet for a two-putt birdie at the last.

He was at 14-under 130, three shots ahead of Russell Henley, who had a 69 at Pebble Beach, and Cam Davis of Australia, who had a 68 at Spyglass Hill.

“It’s going to change Pebble a lot,” said Tony Finau, who had a 67 at Spyglass Hill and was in a large group at 10-under 134.

“It’s unfortunate because Pebble is pure right now, really pure. The ball is bouncing and anytime that’s the case at Pebble, I think it’s pretty magical to play. We’ll have to adjust, just adapt as we do out here and we’ll just have to do that on the weekend.”

McIlroy was magnificent with the driver and didn’t get much out of it. Still, he opened with four birdies in seven holes — the scoring stretch at Pebble — until he missed the green on the par-3 12th, hit it heavy out of fairway bunker on the 13th and was out of position off the tee at the 15th and 16th holes, all leading to bogey.

His round ended with an eagle, and he was still in the mix.

Scheffler, in a 2025 debut delayed by minor surgery on his right hand for a freak puncture wound while making ravioli, ran off three straight birdies, including a shot to 2 feet on the tough eighth hole. That was the last of his birdies, but it was the par that saved him.

He pulled his tee shot left on the par-5 18th toward the largest water hazard in golf. Scheffler didn’t see the ball carom off the rocks or splash in the Pacific Ocean. His only option was to go forward to the end of the tee box, so he opted to walk 300 yards and take a look.

He spotted a golf ball on the beach — it was his — and was able to move enough small rocks and seaweed to advance that to the fairway and make par.

“The unpredictability was the most difficult part,” Scheffler said. “After the tee ball, I definitely would have taken a par, no complaints.”

Not many from Straka, either, who would appear to be riding some momentum from his victory in The American Express. He attributes much of that to a slight change in his putting, going to a skinnier grip and moving his hands slightly higher.

“Palm Springs was the first time in a long time I felt that I had four really good putting rounds in a row,” Straka said. “Yeah, I think that’s definitely made a huge difference.”

But he pulled back when he was asked if was on a big run.

“A six-round run,” he said. “I mean, no, I would not classify that as a run. I think Scottie Scheffler is on a run.”

The 2025 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am has been nothing short of exciting as Austrian golfer Sepp Straka has taken the lead on the leaderboard, closely followed by Tony Finau and Tom Kim.

Straka has been in top form, showcasing his skill and precision on the iconic Pebble Beach Golf Links. With a combination of powerful drives and accurate putting, he has managed to stay ahead of the competition.

However, Finau and Kim are not far behind, putting on a strong performance and keeping the pressure on Straka. With their consistent play and impressive shot-making, they are poised to make a run for the top spot.

As the tournament continues, all eyes will be on these three talented golfers as they battle it out for the coveted title. Stay tuned for more updates on the 2025 AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.

  • Scottie Scheffler’s beach adventure ends with a ‘lucky’ par at Pebble

PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. — Temperatures were plunging and the wind was whipping — not an ideal day for a walk on the beach. It turned out to be a par-saving moment for Scottie Scheffler on Friday in the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.

Scheffler pulled his tee shot on the par-5 18th hole at Pebble Beach toward the Pacific Ocean. He never saw it carom off the rocks or splash in golf’s biggest water hazard.

His only other option was to take a penalty drop some 40 yards forward at the end of the tee box. So he figured he might as well walk 300 yards and take a look. Good thing he did.

“Saw a ball on the beach, went down there, found my ball, moved some rocks, hit it out, hit it on the green, two-putted,” Scheffler said, making it sound all so routine.

It took some good fortune, starting with find his golf ball. He had to take a long route to the beach, down a 5-foot rock shelf, walking back some 40 yards to find a smaller ledge to sea level, careful not to slip along the way. He also was able to move small rocks and seaweed around his ball.

Then it was a matter of hitting it cleanly enough with a wedge to get it over the cliff and back toward the fairway. Once he managed that, it was a 6-iron from 179 yards that he got to the back right of the green, leaving him two putts from 40 feet for a par and a 2-under 70.

Scheffler was seven shots behind going into the weekend, still very much in the mix, and a little lucky to not be further back.

“I’ve made good pars,” he said. “That one was more lucky than anything.”

Scheffler is not the only player to experience where Pebble Beach gets its name. Brandt Snedeker once made birdie from the beach in 2019.

Scheffler certainly would have taken a 5 from where he hit his tee shot, and he had few other complaints about his game considering this is his first real competition in nearly two months.

    AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am 2025 – Round Two

Sepp Straka leads as Rory McIlroy eagles and Scottie Scheffler hits the beach at Pebble

Straka, who won a couple of weeks ago at The American Express, is back in front with two rounds to play at the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am.

He had minor surgery on his right hand when glass punctured his upper palm while he was using a wine glass to cut homemade ravioli over Christmas. The swing looks good. He said his hand feels fine. But there is a small matter of rust he can detect.

One was obvious — a semi-shank on the 11th hole with a lob wedge from 82 yards away that led to his lone bogey on Friday.

There was also some brilliance, such as the 6-iron he hit across the ocean that settled about 2 feet away for birdie on No. 8, one of the toughest holes on the golf course.

“I think the last two days out here I haven’t felt at peak performance at all,” he said. “I think if you look at my strokes gained-ball striking numbers, they’re probably not near what they would normally be. And I think that’s just a little bit of competitive rust, kind of getting my feet back under me and playing tournament golf.

“To only have two bogeys, one of them being with a semi-shank, it’s pretty good.”

Scottie Scheffler’s beach adventure ends with a ‘lucky’ par at Pebble

Professional golfer Scottie Scheffler found himself in a precarious situation during the final round of the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am, as his tee shot on the 18th hole landed in a sandy hazard on the iconic Pebble Beach Golf Links.

With the Pacific Ocean looming behind him, Scheffler faced a difficult decision on how to approach his next shot. After assessing his options, Scheffler decided to take a risk and attempt to play the ball out of the hazard, rather than taking a penalty drop.

As he lined up his shot, spectators held their breath, wondering if Scheffler’s bold move would pay off. With a perfect swing, Scheffler executed the shot flawlessly, sending the ball soaring out of the sand and onto the green just a few feet from the hole.

The crowd erupted in cheers as Scheffler walked up to the green and calmly sank a putt for par, saving himself from what could have been a disastrous end to his round. After his round, Scheffler admitted that his shot out of the hazard was a bit of a lucky break, but he was grateful for the outcome.

Despite the pressure of playing on one of the most famous golf courses in the world, Scheffler’s composure and skill shone through, proving once again why he is one of the rising stars on the PGA Tour. It was a thrilling end to an already exciting tournament, and one that will surely be remembered for years to come.
