“Houseless, never homeless. Welcome back Ke’ala Coral Ventimiglia 1.23.25,” Marinao began on Friday, January 31, via Instagram. “Jan 7th my family & I evacuated from the Palisades Fire. We lost our home that we were living in & everything we own, as well as our home under construction that we were about to move into. I was 38 weeks pregnant & I had done an evacuation only a few weeks prior during the Franklin Fire as well. I take it as a gift that I was able to essentially do a practice run for what was inevitably to come. I’m also forever grateful that we were able to evacuate from the Palisades Fire in the daytime, when we could feel more prepared & not caught completely off guard in the middle of the night, for example.”
She noted that her family is “together, happy, healthy and safe, which is truly all that matters.”
“We are deeply grateful to all of the heroes who help battle fires, as well as care for everyone affected by the aftermath for years to come. This will be an extended process of rebuilding and grieving for many, but we are feeling optimistic & inspired to welcome all of the exciting newness of our fresh start!” Mariano continued. “A special thank you to all of those who have supported my family & I in this time; friends, family, my birthing team, hospital staff, companies gifting, LA community and beyond. Your love & generosity means everything to us.”
She concluded: “Gentle reminder to all, to please allow us this time & space to nest with our newborn in such a delicate phase. We already have everything we need in abundance & will be back around with updates in our own time.” The post was signed, “Sending you Aloha + Light always, Jarah, Milo, Ke’a Duke.”
Mariano announced her pregnancy in September 2024 by sharing maternity photos via Instagram. “Baby on board!” she captioned two shots of herself showing off her baby bump in a bikini while floating on a surfboard in the ocean in Hawaii. In the first picture, she cradled her growing belly, while the second image showed her making a “shaka” hand sign alongside another person (presumably Ventimiglia) whose face was not seen in the frame.
Us Weekly broke the news in October 2023 that Ventimiglia and Mariano quietly tied the knot in a private ceremony with family and close friends in attendance. The news came after the couple were first linked in 2022, but they did not confirm their relationship until their wedding.

Days before revealing her pregnancy, Mariano celebrated her first anniversary with Ventimiglia. “Last year I married my best friend,” she wrote via Instagram in September 2024. “There aren’t enough words that exist to describe all the special qualities that make him who he is.”
She continued: “All I can say is that I am grateful for the life that we have together and the happiness that we have created Aloha wau iā ‘oe my husband Milo.” (The phrase means “I love you” in Hawaiian.)
The pair have mostly kept their relationship out of the spotlight, but Ventimiglia previously gushed over Mariano in a February 2024 interview with Entertainment Tonight.

A Texas school district has acknowledged footage of one of its administrators telling an undercover journalist posing as a parent to change a transgender child’s birth certificate to compete in girls sports.
The Irving Independent School District in Irving, Texas, has provided a statement to Fox News Digital addressing the recent video of Reny Lizardo, the executive director of campus operations, giving this guidance, which was obtained by Accuracy in Media.
The statement indicates Lizardo has resigned from his position.
“In Irving ISD, we are committed to upholding the requirements of state and federal laws, especially as it pertains to ensuring the safety and well-being of our students, and we will cooperate with any investigation initiated by relevant authorities,” the statement said.

“We are aware of the unauthorized video footage circulating on social media of an individual connected with Irving ISD. The videos were obtained under false pretenses by an individual who posed as a concerned parent and additional individuals who posed as family friends of the employee pictured.
“The individuals also held themselves out as members of the media, but were not credentialed as such, constituting a breach of security. In addition, the footage has been edited and is an incomplete representation of the entire conversation, making it difficult to properly assess its probative value.”
In the footage, Lizardo said, “It’s not illegal if you don’t get caught,” with regard to changing the gender on a child’s birth certificate, and “if you can get that done, and you turn us a birth certificate that says ‘this gender,’ that’s the gender we go with.”
While discussing potential repercussions of the discussion, Lizardo suggested pleading plausible deniability.
The district insists Lizardo’s handling of the situation does not reflect the values and protocols of the school district.
Fox News Digital has reached out to Lizardo for comment.

“We want to reiterate that Irving ISD complies with all state and federal laws, and all employees are expected to adhere to any and all legal and ethical standards. The message conveyed in the video, as presented, does not reflect the views nor policies of the district,” the statement said.
“Individual employees do not speak on behalf of the district. The individual identified was acting outside of his role as it relates to legal and regulatory expertise. While the matter continues to be under investigation, the individual identified in the video has tendered his resignation.”
The district’s statement concludes by claiming all of its athletes participate in the proper gender category.
“We can also confirm that all Irving ISD student-athletes are participating in their sport in accordance with the sex they were assigned at birth,” the district said. “Irving ISD is unwavering in our commitment to the safety and well-being of all of our students and staff. We remain focused on our primary function to maintain educational excellence and foster the full potential of our students.”

Texas is one of 25 states in the U.S. with a law that prevents or restricts transgender athletes from competing against girls and women. In June 2023, the state passed the Save Women’s Sports Act that prohibits transgender athletes from competing in girls and women’s sports and only allows students to compete in the gender category listed on their birth certificate.
The law only allows schools to recognize changes made to birth certificates that were made to correct a clerical error.
Texas Gov. Greg Abbott addressed the footage involving Lizardo in a post on X and called for him to be fired and investigated.
“This Irving ISD Administrator should be fired on the spot. Both criminal & civil investigations must be taken against both the Administrator & Irving ISD,” Abbott wrote. “Has Irving ISD and its employees been involved in a fraudulent breach of state laws & a cover up? We must get the facts.”

On a Wednesday, Jan. 29 episode of her podcast Khloé in Wonder Land, the Good American co-founder, 40, chatted with guest Mel Robbins and spoke about her decision to let ex-boyfriend Tristan Thompson, 33, stay in the delivery room with her when she welcomed their daughter True after learning 48 hours earlier that he cheated on her.
Robbins asked Kardashian how she dealt with the fallout of Thompson’s cheating scandal, which prompted the mom of two to say that she drew from feelings from her first marriage to guide her.
“Well the crazy thing is I would draw back to the feelings I had with Lamar [Odom] — Lamar was my first husband —where I would say, ‘Okay.’ I knew how to deal with this media scandal,” she explained. “And I was in Cleveland, Ohio so like let me just stay here for a little bit because that’s where I gave birth.”

“And I just knew sort of to stay away from the noise, which L.A. has a lot of noise,” she continued. “Stayed away from my phone, but I would say the biggest was I had a brand new baby and I definitely isolated. I never left my house for a few months, I was just with her.”
Noting that she built a “little cocoon” for her baby daughter, Kardashian said she “wasn’t in denial about all the noise, I didn’t want to pay attention to it. Not in denial, I just didn’t want to focus on it.”
She continued to explain that she didn’t give power to the situation, explaining that people started to ask her if she wanted Thompson in the delivery room after the scandal became public only 48 hours before she gave birth.
“And I remember when Tristan had an affair, it was public and I gave birth 48 hours later. And people were like, ‘Do you want him in the hospital room when you’re giving birth?’ And it was my first baby and I said, ‘I do,’ ” she said.
“And we’re all going to pretend because of course, I had to have all my siblings in the room and my mom. And I said, ‘We’re going to all…it’s going to be hard for you guys but let’s all act like this didn’t happen because my daughter’s going to see this home footage one day, and I don’t want her to ever see, to know.”
“I was thinking for my daughter True,” Kardashian explained. “And I get sad if I ever see myself because I can tell I’m blank and it’s an out-of-body experience. I just went into autopilot. And I just went into, I’m not here, I was not present. But my body was there, I gave birth, I did what I had to do.”
“But it was for her. I thought of her. I was like, ‘For her memories, I want her to know her dad was in the room.’ And then when it was done, I was like, ‘I can’t talk to you’ when I put my home camera down. But I made sure to do what I needed to do for her.”

Birds do it, bees do it. Even educated fleas do it, according to Cole Porter’s classic song on the universal nature of sex.
But a baby swell shark born in a Louisiana aquarium that houses only females has flummoxed marine experts and raised the possibility that the species may not require such earthly pleasures to produce offspring.
Yoko, the swell shark pup, hatched on 3 January after an egg was spotted by the US aquarium’s animal husbandry team eight months ago. The egg could have gone undetected for up to two months prior to that, according to the Shreveport aquarium.
The two female sharks present in the tank had not been in contact with a male for more than three years, the team says. This suggests either a process called parthenogenesis, a rare form of asexual reproduction, or delayed fertilisation may have occurred.
A DNA analysis once the pup is big enough for a blood sample to be taken will determine the truth about the mysterious birth, but will take months.
“This situation is incredible and shows the resilience of this species,” said Greg Barrick, the curator of live animals at Shreveport aquarium. “We are very excited in the coming months to confirm whether this was indeed a case of parthenogenesis or if it was delayed fertilisation.”
The baby shark – named after the Native American Chumash people’s word for shark, “onyoko” – was said to be thriving, although the aquarium acknowledged that sharks born though such reproductive events often face significant challenges. Should Yoko’s time with us be short, they said, she will leave an “unforgettable legacy” to the study of shark reproduction and conservation.
If Yoko was indeed born via parthenogenesis, she would join animals such as starfish, deep sea worms and insects capable of such “virgin births”. Laying eggs without mating is much rarer in vertebrates, but it has been seen in zebra sharks, sawfish and a handful of reptiles. The phenomenon was first documented in Komodo dragons, the world’s largest reptiles, in 2006, after occurring in two British zoos. Last year, a stingray called Charlotte in an aquarium in North Carolina was found to be pregnant despite not having been in contact with a male for eight years.
While scientists assume vertebrates turn to parthenogenesis when no mates are present, many aspects remain unknown, including why it occurs and what triggers it.
Colin Stevenson, head of education at Crocodiles of the World in Brize Norton, England, a zoo which boasts a male Komodo dragon born by parthenogenesis to a female in Prague, said: “Komodos are famous for it. They can reproduce normally but every now and again, they pop out a parthenogenetic one. The trick is to work out what kicks it off.”
Aquarium staff were left stunned when a female swell shark in an all-female tank gave birth to a pup without any male involvement. The phenomenon, known as parthenogenesis, is extremely rare in sharks and has only been observed a handful of times in captivity.The unexpected birth took place at the Belle Isle Aquarium in Detroit, Michigan, where a team of researchers and marine biologists have been studying the behavior of the female sharks. The palace said 36-year-old Beatrice and her husband Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi welcomed new arrival Athena Elizabeth Rose Mapelli Mozzi on Jan. 22. She weighed 4 pounds and 5 ounces.
“She is tiny and absolutely perfect,’’ her father said in a social media post.
The king, queen and other members of the royal family are “delighted with the news,” the palace said.
Beatrice, who is ninth in the line of succession to the British throne, is the elder daughter of Prince Andrew and his ex-wife, Sarah, Duchess of York.
She married millionaire property tycoon Mapelli Mozzi in July 2020 in a private wedding ceremony at the Royal Chapel of All Saints at Royal Lodge, Windsor.
Athena joins older siblings, Mapelli-Mozzi’s 8-year-old son and Beatrice’s stepson Wolfie, and the couple’s 3-year-old daughter Sienna.

Princess Beatrice has given birth to her second daughter, Athena Elizabeth Rose, Buckingham Palace has announced.
The late Queen’s granddaughter, 36, gave birth several weeks early on January 22 at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital in London, with the 4lb 5oz royal baby said to be healthy and well.
Beatrice and her daughter are now said to be at home, with the family enjoying spending time together with Athena’s older siblings, Wolfie and Sienna.
The King, Queen and other members of the royal family have all been informed and “are delighted with the news”, Buckingham Palace said.
Beatrice’s husband Edoardo Mapelli posted a tribute to his new daughter, calling her “tiny and absolutely perfect”.

Princess Beatrice has given birth to a baby girl named Athena several weeks prematurely, Buckingham Palace has said.
The royal was due to give birth in early spring and was told in December not to travel long distances.
In a statement the palace said: “Her Royal Highness Princess Beatrice and Mr Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi are delighted to announce the safe arrival of their daughter, Athena Elizabeth Rose Mapelli Mozzi, born on Wednesday, 22nd January, at 12.57pm, at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, London.
“The baby was born weighing four pounds and five ounces.
“Their Majesties The King and Queen and other members of the royal family have all been informed and are delighted with the news.”

Mr Mapelli Mozi posted a tribute to his new daughter, calling her “tiny and absolutely perfect”.
He wrote on Instagram sharing a photograph of Athena wrapped in a blanket: “Athena Elizabeth Rose Mapelli Mozzi.
“We welcomed baby Athena into our lives last week. She is tiny and absolutely perfect.
“We are all (including Wolfie and Sienna) already completely besotted with her.
“Our hearts are overflowing with love for you, baby Athena.
“A massive thank you from my wife and I goes out to all the wonderful staff at the Chelsea and Westminster Hospital for their exceptional care and support during this incredibly special time.”
Princess Beatrice’s sister Princess Eugenie celebrated the new arrival by posting “Welcome Baby Girl” and sharing Mr Mapelli Mozzi’s photograph on her Instagram Stories.

The Edmonton Oilers announced that they have signed University of Alberta goaltender Tyler Palmer to an amateur tryout, and that the U Sports standout will serve as the team’s backup as they host the Seattle Kraken.
The Oilers are in need of a new face on the bench, as regular starter Stuart Skinner will be away from the team after the birth of a baby boy earlier in the day.
Calvin Pickard will get the start between the pipes, but it will surely be a special experience for Palmer to join the Oilers.
Palmer is in his first year with the Golden Bears after playing four WHL seasons with the Victoria Royals and Everett Silvertips. The Fernie, B.C. native holds an 11-4 record with a .914 save percentage and 2.14 goals-against average for the UofA in 17 games this season.
The Golden Bears currently sit second in the Canada West’s East Division with an 18-6-0 record.
