  • Aston Villa vs. Tottenham Hotspur: FA Cup 4th round game time, live blog, and how to watch online

All the good Tottenham Hotspur vibes that had started to build again over the last few weeks went straight out the window following Liverpool’s demolition of the Lilywhites in the EFL Cup midweek. There’s no time for Spurs to lick their wounds, however, with a short turnaround before today’s match against Aston Villa.

Spurs are in the fourth round courtesy of a labored victory over National League side Tamworth, and Villa are just a few rungs higher on the English football ladder. The Villains will be fresh as well, having had the week off to prepare while Spurs crashed out of another cup competition.

Regardless, Ange Postecoglou will be keen to turn things around, with a little help from his January reinforcements. Two of those, Kevin Danso and Mathys Tel, were able to hold their heads high in the defeat to Liverpool, and will surely be in the starting lineup with injuries aplenty both in defense and the forward line. Can Spurs overcome whatever fresh hell the universe serves up this time and come away victorious?

  • Bayern Munich vs Werder Bremen: Gamethread and Live Blog — Game time, hoo!

    1’: LET’S GOOOOOOOOOO!!!

Vincent Kompany is rolling with the guys that he trusts and performed well in the first half against Holstein Kiel. The only change from that starting lineup is Sacha Boey replacing Konrad Laimer. Luckily, Laimer is still available and will be one of the first substitutes.

Bonus note: After extending his contract earlier this month, 16-year old attacker Wisdom Mike (no relation to Prison Mike or Date Mike) is on the 18-man roster today. If the game is tight, it is unlikely that he is selected ahead of Leroy Sané, Thomas Müller, Konrad Laimer, Leon Goretzka, or even Gabriel Vidovic. But if Bayern can build an insurmountable lead, this might be the inaugural appearance of a bright, young player.

In the Hinrunde, Bayern Munich walloped Werder Bremen with a 5-0 victory at the Weserstadion. Bayern has only dropped points once this season at the Allianz Arena and this matchup should not be any different. Vincent Kompany will demand 60 solid minutes from his starters to take a commanding lead before resting them in advance of the midweek Champions League clash at Celtic. It feels unlikely that Bayern will repeat the inconceivable act of conceding three unanswered goals in the second half.

    Odds: Bayern (-900), Draw (+900), Werder Bremen (+1600), Over/Under 3.5 goals

Prediction: Bayern wins 4-2. After the first 15 minutes of Bayern dominating possession, Marvin Ducksch heads in a corner to give Bremen a surprising lead. Five minutes later, Jamal Musiala goes rage mode and dribbles through five Bremen defenders to bring the game level. Right before halftime, Michael Olise bends light itself with a curling left footed shot from the top of the box. In the second half, Andre Silva ties the game again with a back post finish. In the 80th minute, Harry Kane scores a rebound on his 20th touch of the game. In stoppage time, Thomas Müller puts the game out of reach and celebrates like he has just won the Quidditch Cup for Gryffindor.

    It’s Bayern time.

Transfermarkt deadline day live blog: Willian close to Fulham return, González close to Man City move

    ©IMAGO

Hello and welcome to the Transfermarkt deadline day live blog for the final day of the January 2025 transfer window. The past few weeks have had plenty of twists and turns but as we approach the final 24 hours of transfer business across Europe’s top leagues there are still a number of permanent transfers and loans that are still to get over the line. As such, we’ve put together this page to keep tabs on all of the stories that are unfolding across the continent.

21:49 – Malacia arrives in Eindhoven

Tyrell Malacia has arrived in the Netherlands to proceed in talks with PSV Eindhoven, ahead of a loan move from Man United for the Dutch left-back. The 25 year old has a current market value of €15 million.

21:07 – Batshuayi joins Bundesliga club Frankfurt

Eintracht Frankfurt have signed former Chelsea striker Michy Batshuayi. The Bundesliga club managed to get that deal across the line just before the window shut in Germany. Batshuayi will join Frankfurt from Galatasaray in a deal worth €3m plus €500,000 in add-ons and has signed a contract until 2027. The striker is supposed to help fill the void left by Omar Marmoush, who left Frankfurt and joined Man City in a deal worth €70m in January.

20:48 – Willian close to Fulham return

According to Sky, 36 year old winger Willian is close to a return to Fulham on deadline day. The Brazilian left Craven Cottage in 2024, having scored nine goals in 58 games for the Premier League side.

20:10 – Axel Disasi close to Aston Villa loan

Reports suggest a deal is in place on loan with his salary covered for Chelsea defender Axel Disasi to join Aston Villa, with the Midlands club matching the loan fee offered by Tottenham. Disasi said no to Spurs all day long as he only wanted to join Aston Villa since 10 days ago. No buy option is thought to be included.

    19:53 – Dortmund sign Chelsea’s Carney Chukwuemeka

Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund have loaned  Carney Chukwuemeka from Chelsea until the end of the season. Both clubs made the deal official after the transfer window closed in Germany. The loan deal includes an option to buy worth a reported £40m.

19:28 – Fulham approach AC Milan’s Samuel Chukwueze

Reports from Fabrizio Romano suggest Fulham have approached AC Milan to sign winger Samuel Chukwueze. Negotiations are rumoured to be ongoing between all parties involved with a short time now to make it happen. He has a current market value of €18m.

18:59 – Marco Asensio completes Aston Villa move

Aston Villa have completed the signing of Spanish winger Marco Asensio on loan from Paris St-Germain until the end of the season. The 29 year old scored seven goals in 47 appearances for PSG, since joining from boyhood club Real Madrid in 2023.

    18:20 – Feyenoord consider West Ham’s Guilherme

Feyenoord are reportedly considering a move for West Ham teenager Luis Guilherme. The eighteen-year-old attacker is considered a player of the highest order by the Eredivisie side, and has struggled to make an impact in the Premier League.

17:41 – Man Utd defender set to depart on loan

Fabrizio Romano is reporting that Manchester United defender Tyrell Malacia is set to depart the club before the end of the transfer window to join Eredivisie side PSV on loan for the remainder of the season.

17:06 – Chelsea recall David Fofana from Turkish club

Chelsea forward David Fofana has been recalled from his loan spell at Turkish side, Goztepe S.K. An Ivory Coast international, Fofana joined the Blues in January 2023 and made four first-team appearances during the remainder of that season.

16:40 – Mario Lemina to leave Wolves

Galatasaray are poised to complete the signing of Mario Lemina from Wolves on loan. It’s understood that the Turkish giants will pay a loan fee of around €2.5m with Lemina to remain at Galatasaray until the end of the season.

16:09 – Chelsea close in on 19 year old midfielder Amougou

Reports from Sky and other outlets suggest Chelsea are closing in on 19 year old Saint Etienne midfielder Mathis Amougou, with the deal close to being completed. The fee is expected to be around €15m, with the final details being sorted.

15:47 – González undergoing Man City Medical

According to The Athletic, Spanish midfielder Nico González is undergoing a medical in Portugal, ahead of a proposed deadline say move from Porto to Manchester City. The deal is not fully done, but Man City are now closing in on the Porto midfielder; fee expected to be around €60m & a long-term contract has reportedly been agreed for the 23 year old.

15:25 – Milan reach agreement with Chelsea for Felix

The Athletic are reporting that AC Milan have reached a verbal agreement with Chelsea to sign Joao Felix on loan for the remainder of the season. The deal does not include an option to buy but will requite the Italian giants to pay a loan fee of €5.5m for the striker’s services.

14:51 – Tel set for Tottenham move

Mathys Tel is now expected to make a dramatic last-minute move to Tottenham before the end of the January transfer window. The French striker reportedly turned down a move to Spurs last week, but the BBC are now reporting that the Premier League side have reached an agreement with Bayern Munich to loan the player for the remainder of the season.

14:00 – Ferguson joins West Ham

Evan Ferguson has completed his loan move to West Ham United. The Irishman joins the Hammers on a straight loan deal until the end of the season from Brighton. The 20-year-old will be reunited with Graham Potter, who handed Ferguson his Premier League debut.

13:30 – Cherki staying at Lyon

There’s been significant speculation that Rayan Cherki could leave Lyon during the winter window. Borussia Dortmund were interested in the talented attacking midfielder but Lyon owner John Textor has confirmed that Cherki will stay in France. He said: “We rejected Borussia Dortmund offer and we do not intend to negotiate with them or any other club”.

13:00 – Man United reject striker bid

Manchester United have turned down an approach for young striker Gabriele Biancheri from Como. The 18-year-old is highly rated at Old Trafford and United are unwilling to allow him to leave on a permanent basis.

    12: 40 – Felix to depart Chelsea

Joao Felix is set to join AC Milan on-loan until the end of the season. The 25-year-old is unhappy with his lack of game time at Chelsea and they’ve agreed to a loan exit. Felix was in attendance at the San Siro on Sunday night for the Milan derby.

12:15 – Wolves set to land defender

Nasser Djiga is on the verge of joining Wolves from Red Star Belgrade. The €7 million valued star is on his way to England to complete his medical with Wolves set to land a new centre-back after missing out on Kevin Danso to Tottenham

    11:40 – Ward-Prowse returns to West Ham

James Ward-Prowse is back at West Ham after an agreement was reached with Nottingham Forest to terminate his loan deal. Ward-Prowse made ten appearances for Forest this season but he barely featured in recent months.

10:55 – City chase González deal

Manchester City are continuing their attempts to sign Nico González. Pep Guardiola wants to add the 23-year-old to bolster his midfield options with Rodri still sidelined. Talks are continuing between the two clubs but Porto are holding firm in their valuation.

10:35 – Tottenham Guehi bid rejected

Crystal Palace have rejected a significant bid from Tottenham for Marc Guehi. The England international was subject to major interest from Newcastle in the summer but Spurs want to sign him on deadline day. But Palace are holding firm despite the fact that Guehi’s contract expires in 2026.

    10:15 – Brighton sign Tzimas

Brighton have signed young Greek striker Stefanos Tzimas. The 19-year-old talent is on loan at German second-tier club FC Nuremberg from PAOK in Greece. Due to the details of his current loan deal, the 2.Bundesliga club will technically sign him for a set fee, before then selling him on to Brighton today for a rumoured €25m.

10:05 – Chelsea starlet to join Dortmund

Carney Chukwuemeka is posed to join Borussia Dortmund on-loan from Chelsea. The former Aston Villa midfielder is currently in Germany to complete his medial ahead of signing for the Bundesliga club until the end of the season.

9:10 – Villa defender heads to Leipzig on loan

Aston Villa have confirmed that young defender Kosta Nedeljkovic has departed the club to join RB Leipzig on loan for the remainder of the season. The 19-year-old talent only made the move to the Premier League side last year, when he signed from Red Star for €7.6m but after just 10 games with Villa he now seems set for a future in the Bundesliga. The deal reported as an agreement attached that will allow Leipzig to buy Nedeljkovic in the summer.

One of the biggest rumours to start the day is news that Chelsea defender Ben Chilwell will be departing Stamford Bridge before the end of the window. According to the Telegraph, the England international is set for a loan move to Crystal Palace, having been entirely overlooked by Enzo Maresca this season.

Welcome to Transfermarkt deadline day live blog! We have some exciting transfer news to bring to you as the deadline approaches.

First up, it looks like Willian could be on the move once again, with reports suggesting he is close to a return to Fulham. The Brazilian winger previously had a successful spell at the club and could be set for a reunion with his former teammates.

In other news, it seems that González is edging closer to a move to Manchester City. The talented midfielder has been linked with a number of top clubs, but it looks like City have won the race for his signature. This could be a huge coup for Pep Guardiola’s side as they look to strengthen their squad for the upcoming season.

Stay tuned for more updates as the deadline approaches!

WWE SMACKDOWN RESULTS AND LIVE BLOG FOR JAN. 31

Language barriers broken, now we’ve found the key. And if you want the wind of change to blow about you and you’re the only other person to know, don’t tell me, I’m just here to liveblog this here pro wrestling show for you, folks.

The show opens with the usual montage of talent arriving at the arena.

Michael Cole is in the Okerlund Position to welcome us to the show and hype up the Royal Rumble, as well as introducing Pat McAfee.

Pat cuts a promo about his efforts to bring the Rumble to Indianapolis and talks up the city.

They toss to Joe Tessitore in the ring.

He talks about his interview with Cody Rhodes last week and Kevin Owens’ interruption of the broadcast later in the show demanding equal treatment, so now he’d like to give him that opportunity to be properly heard.

    Kevin Owens makes his entrance.

Joe says Kevin’s actions were egregious but made him think about what he had to say and he wants to give him his fair treatment he demands.

Owens asks if this is his way of making amends, because last week all he saw was Tessitore only caring about Cody’s feelings and being a little fanboy like everyone else. Joe won’t apologize for his treatment of Rhodes but will apologize for the uneven treatment, but KO refuses the apology.

Owens says the only reason he’s here is to take the Winged Eagle back and he takes it off the ascender, thanks Joe for nothing, and goes to take his leave—

    Enter CM Punk.

He soaks in the adulation of the “CM Punk!” chants that follow him for a moment. Owens asks if he can help him and Punk offers an apology for looking past him but just so he knows, tomorrow when he wins the Royal Rumble, and if Kevin makes it past Cody, hell the main event of WrestleMania could very well be Kevin Owens defending against CM Punk.

And if he wins, he WILL be coming after the WWE Undisputed Championship. KO says he’s conflicted, because there’s 29 other guys in the Rumble that he likes more than Punk even though he doesn’t know everyone that’s gonna be in the Rumble, but the thought of the two of them in the main event of WrestleMania, or rather him beating CM’s ass in the main event of WrestleMania, he likes that.

And he knows what main eventing WrestleMania means to Punk, and how heartbreaking it was for him to get hurt last year. He says he loves thought of CM never getting to realize that dream, it gives him a warm fuzzy feeling inside to picture him old, broken, and alone, obsessing over the fact that Owens is a multiple time main eventer while Punk goes to his grave a miserable failure.

So actually, he hopes Punk doesn’t win the Royal Rumble, and he goes to take his leave. Punk calls him back and congratulates him on main eventing twice and accomplishing a lot in his career, one of the best. Here’s something else he hasn’t done that someone else has— he, personally, CM Punk, has never lost five title matches at the Royal Rumble.

No, that was KO. He’s also never lost to Logan Paul, but Owens has. He’s never even attempted to manipulate his best friend who he’s stabbed in the back multiple times to help him win a title because he wasn’t confident enough in his own ability, but Kevin has. Punk stands or falls on his own merits, Owens takes shortcuts.

Punk says he has to win the Rumble and KO has to survive Cody Rhodes in a dangerous ladder match tomorrow for them to fight at WrestleMania, but only one thing stands in the way of Owens eating an asskicking tonight, and that’s coming back in the ring. He bids Kev to not be afraid and to come back in the ring, but Owens walks out.

The Miz is chatting with Nick Aldis in his office.

He talks shit about Andrade el Idolo and turns around and of course Andrade is there, asking why he’s dissing him. Miz says he’s just stubborn and he could learn a lot from him if he was just willing. El Idolo challenges him, the A-Lister says he’ll teach him any time, anywhere, and Aldis makes the match for tonight.

    Commentary hypes up the show.

“Big” Jim Uso is walking backstage and cuts a promo on Carmelo Hayes while Shinsuke Nakamura lurks in the background.

He says if Hayes misses tonight, he’s gonna dunk on him, and makes his entrance.

Carmelo Hayes makes his entrance and says Uso says he’s the one, but he’s actually the two (it’s a poop joke) and runs him down with a sports reference before heading to the ring.

Carmelo Hayes vs. “Big” Jim Uso

Welcome to our live blog of WWE SmackDown, the final stop before the Royal Rumble pay-per-view! Tonight’s show is sure to be action-packed as the superstars of SmackDown prepare for the highly-anticipated event.

    – The show kicks off with a bang as Universal Champion Roman Reigns makes his way to the ring. He cuts a scathing promo on his Royal Rumble challenger, Brock Lesnar, vowing to once again prove that he is the “Tribal Chief” of WWE.

    – In a high-flying tag team match, Rey Mysterio and Dominik Mysterio pick up a victory over The Usos. The Mysterios show off their incredible teamwork and athleticism, sending a message to the rest of the tag team division.

    – Women’s Champion Sasha Banks defends her title against Liv Morgan in a hard-fought match. Banks traps Morgan in the Banks Statement, forcing her to tap out and retain her championship. After the match, Banks is confronted by Rhea Ripley, who declares her intention to challenge for the title at the Royal Rumble.

    – In a backstage segment, Intercontinental Champion Sami Zayn is seen taunting his Royal Rumble challenger, Shinsuke Nakamura. Zayn promises to outsmart Nakamura once again and retain his title at the event.

    – The main event of the evening sees a six-man tag team match pitting WWE Champion AJ Styles, Edge, and Randy Orton against Kevin Owens, Seth Rollins, and Bobby Lashley. The match is chaotic and hard-hitting, with all six men giving it their all. In the end, Styles picks up the win for his team after hitting a Phenomenal Forearm on Rollins.

That’s all for tonight’s WWE SmackDown! Tune in this Sunday for the Royal Rumble pay-per-view, where all of these rivalries will come to a head. Thanks for joining us on this live blog, and we’ll see you next time!

    State of BioWare

    Hello Everyone,

Today, we are turning towards the future and preparing for the next chapter in BioWare’s story. As we announced in August 2023, we are changing how we build games to meet the needs of our upcoming projects and hold ourselves to the highest quality standards.

Now that Dragon Age: The Veilguard has been released, a core team at BioWare is developing the next Mass Effect game under the leadership of veterans from the original trilogy, including Mike Gamble, Preston Watamaniuk, Derek Watts, Parrish Ley, and others.

In keeping with our fierce commitment to innovating during the development and delivery of Mass Effect, we have challenged ourselves to think deeply about delivering the best experience to our fans. We are taking this opportunity between full development cycles to reimagine how we work at BioWare.

Given this stage of development, we don’t require support from the full studio. We have incredible talent here at BioWare, and so we have worked diligently over the past few months to match many of our colleagues with other teams at EA that had open roles that were a strong fit.

  • Tottenham Hotspur vs. Elfsborg: Europa League game time, live blog, and how to watch online

The equation for Tottenham Hotspur is simple. Win their next Europa League match, and they qualify for the top eight, meaning Spurs would advance directly to the Round of 16.

    Their only opposition: Elfsborg.

The Swedish side will be fresh, having only played Europa League and club friendlies due to the Allsvenskan calendar. This also means they may not be prepared for the rigors of a tough European tie, and one would think Spurs would be much too tough an opponent.

For Spurs, the injury woes have continued, and Ange will have to balance his (lack of) available players between this match, the weekend’s fixture against Brentford in the league, and the looming away leg of Spurs’ EFL Cup semi-final tie against Liverpool. This one could be a bit of a struggle-fest, but the Lilywhites will be doing their utmost to reduce their fixture list and achieve a shot at European glory.

The match thread rules are the same as always. To any visitors coming here for the first time, welcome! We’re glad you’re here! Wipe your feet, mind the gap, and be sure to check out the other pages at this outstanding site. While you’re here, though, we have a few rules and regulations:

    • Absolutely no links to illegal streams. They’re bad and they get us in trouble. Violators will be warned or banned.
    • We have rules against “relentless negativity.” Nobody likes a Negative Nancy. Don’t knee-jerk and post outlandish or hurtful things just because you’re frustrated.
    • Along those lines, outright abuse of players or match officials is also not allowed. It’s fine to say “wow, that was a really bad call,” but it’s NOT okay to direct copious amounts of abuse in the direction of said official over a call you did not like.
    • Treat other people in the match thread the way you would want someone else to treat your grandmother. Be nice. This is a community of fans, not an un-moderated message board.
    • NO SPIDERS!
    • Finally, while we don’t have a rule against profanity, please try and keep the naughty words in check. Also, language that is sexist, racist, transphobic, or homophobic in nature will be swiftly deleted and you will be immediately banned. This is an open, supportive community.

    Have fun, and COYS!

De’Sean Quinn appointed as newest King County Councilmember

Since King County is the “local government” for White Center, this appointment is of note even though it involves a council district south of ours. Here’s the official announcement:

The King County Council on Tuesday voted to appoint De’Sean Quinn to fill the District 5 council seat vacated when Dave Upthegrove was elected as Washington State Lands Commissioner.

“I am thrilled to welcome our new colleague, Councilmember De’Sean Quinn, to the King County Council! With his strong, steady leadership and deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing our region, he’s ready to hit the ground running,” said King County Council Chair Girmay Zahilay. “Together, I look forward to partnering on the critical issues impacting South King County, ensuring that workers and families have the resources, support, and opportunities they need to thrive. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference, and I’m eager to partner in creating a stronger more prosperous feature for our communities.”

Quinn is a current Tukwila City Councilmember who has served in that role since 2008. He is also a King County employee, working as assistant general manager of Partnerships and Strategies for King County Metro. He will resign both these positions before he is sworn in as a King County Councilmember. Quinn also previously served as community relations manager for former Executive Ron Sims, as council relations director, and as regional relations manager under Executive Dow Constantine.

District 5 represents the cities of Renton, Kent, Des Moines, SeaTac, and Normandy Park. Quinn will serve until the results of the November general election are certified.

Central Alabama residents should be prepared for potentially hazardous driving conditions as a freezing fog advisory has been issued until 9am CST Tuesday. The advisory includes areas such as Birmingham, Tuscaloosa, and Montgomery.

According to the Alabama Weather Blog, freezing fog occurs when the temperature drops below freezing and fog develops. This can create icy patches on roads and sidewalks, making for dangerous travel conditions. Drivers are advised to use caution and allow extra time to reach their destinations.

It is important to remember to slow down, use headlights, and increase following distance when driving in foggy conditions. Additionally, be sure to check your vehicle’s fluids, tires, and brakes to ensure they are in good working order.

Stay safe, Central Alabama, and be sure to stay updated on the latest weather conditions. Let’s all work together to stay safe on the roads during this freezing fog advisory.

  • West Seattle Blog… | Former Southwest Precinct crime-prevention coordinator Mark Solomon appointed to Seattle City Council

After five rounds of voting, the Seattle City Council has just appointed Mark Solomon to fill the District 2 seat from which Tammy Morales recently resigned. You might recall Solomon from his years as Southwest Precinct crime-prevention coordinator, a civilian role he has continued to fill for the South Precinct. He’s sought council positions before, both in elections (losing to Morales in 2019) and in application/nomination processes like this one (such as the citywide Position 8 process a year ago), but this will be his first time serving. Solomon was the choice of District 1 Councilmember Rob Saka throughout this morning’s voting and was the top votegetter throughout, but stuck at four of eight votes until the last round. He will have the job until someone is elected in November to fill the remaining two years of Morales’s term.

Former Southwest Precinct crime-prevention coordinator Mark Solomon has been appointed to the Seattle City Council, bringing his expertise in community safety and crime prevention to the forefront of city governance.

Solomon, who previously served as the liaison between law enforcement and the community in West Seattle, will now be representing the interests of residents across the city. His experience in working closely with neighborhoods to address public safety concerns makes him a valuable addition to the council.

As a longtime advocate for community policing and crime prevention strategies, Solomon is well-equipped to address the pressing issues facing Seattle, including rising crime rates and the need for effective law enforcement tactics.

We look forward to seeing how Solomon’s unique perspective and dedication to serving the community will shape the future of our city. Stay tuned for updates on his work and initiatives as a member of the Seattle City Council.
