  • Chiefs’ Brett Veach lauds Titans’ decision to hire Mike Borgonzi as GM

The Tennessee Titans surprised many with the hiring of former Kansas City Chiefs assistant general manager Mike Borgonzi as their new GM. Borgonzi was arguably the best candidate available and he should bring a different attitude to the front office.

Borgonzi is an experienced personnel man with many connections throughout the league that should open doors with both players and organizations. The move could also have ramifications within his former organization, as he played a major role in all personnel matters.

One person who went out of the way to applaud this hire was his former employer, Brett Veach, who took to X and announced it as a “home run” for the Titans.

“First and foremost, congratulations to Mike, his wife Jill, and their kids on the well-deserved opportunity,” Veach said. “Mike has an incredible football mind, he’s detailed in his work and he understands the ins and outs of the draft, free agency, building an NFL roster, and managing the salary cap. Beyond the job, Mike is an outstanding father, husband, and a close friend. I am excited to see Mike get his chance to lead an organization. The Titans made an outstanding hire.”

Borgonzi got his NFL start in 2009 with the Chiefs and has spent the last 16 years working his way up the ladder within the organization. During that time, he took on a vital role in the construction of their Super Bowl-winning roster, something the Titans need now more than ever.

Borgonzi will officially be introduced to Nashville in the coming days, where he will lay out his vision for the organization and attempt to outline what changes he may make in the coming months.

Titans fans should look forward to those changes and be optimistic for the future of the organization.

The Tennessee Titans made a bold move by hiring Mike Borgonzi as their new general manager, and Kansas City Chiefs’ general manager Brett Veach is singing their praises.

In a recent interview, Veach lauded the Titans’ decision to bring Borgonzi on board, citing his extensive experience and impressive track record in the NFL. Veach expressed his confidence that Borgonzi will bring a fresh perspective and a wealth of knowledge to the Titans’ front office.

With Borgonzi’s background in talent evaluation and player development, Veach believes that the Titans made a smart choice in hiring him to lead their team. He commended Borgonzi’s ability to identify and cultivate talent, pointing to the success he has had with the Chiefs in building a championship-caliber roster.

Veach is confident that Borgonzi will bring the same level of success to the Titans and help them build a competitive team for years to come. Titans fans can rest assured that they have a capable and experienced leader at the helm, thanks to the wise decision to hire Borgonzi as their new GM.

  • Titans to hire Mike Borgonzi as their General Manager

The Titans have found their new General Manager.

Tom Pelissero of NFL Media reports that they will hire Chiefs assistant G.M. Mike Borgonzi, who was one of six candidates to have a second interview with the team this week. The Titans fired Ran Carthon last week after two years on the job.

Borgonzi has worked for the Chiefs since 2009 and worked his way up the personnel department after starting as a scout. He will work with president of football operations Chad Brinker with the Titans and Brinker is set to have “final authority on all football matters” in Tennessee.

One of the first big decisions the duo will be making is what to do with the first overall pick in the draft. That choice will have a big hand in setting the tone for Borgonzi’s tenure in Tennessee.

The Tennessee Titans have announced that they have hired Mike Borgonzi as their new General Manager. Borgonzi comes to the Titans after spending the last several years as the Director of Player Personnel for the Kansas City Chiefs.

During his time with the Chiefs, Borgonzi played a key role in building a roster that made two Super Bowl appearances, winning one in 2020. His eye for talent and ability to identify players who fit the team’s system were instrumental in the team’s success.

The Titans are hoping that Borgonzi can bring that same level of success to their organization. With a roster that already boasts talented players like Derrick Henry and A.J. Brown, Borgonzi will have the opportunity to build upon a solid foundation and take the team to the next level.

Fans are eager to see what Borgonzi can do with the Titans and are hopeful that his hiring will lead to continued success for the team in the years to come. Welcome to Tennessee, Mike Borgonzi! #TitanUp

  • Titans To Hire Mike Borgonzi As GM

The Titans moved quickly after narrowing their list of general manager candidates to a group of finalists. With second interviews complete, a decision appears to have been made.

Chiefs assistant GM Mike Borgonzi is set to take over the Titans’ front office, as first reported by NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero. While ESPN’s Adam Schefter cautions a deal is not yet done, this news points toward Tennessee’s GM vacancy being filled with plenty of time left in the offseason.

Six candidates took part in second interviews over the past few days. Borgonzi was among them, which came as little surprise given his experience and how close he came to landing a GM gig last year with the Commanders. After 16 seasons in Kansas City – including the past four in his role as assistant general manager – Borgonzi will depart the two-time defending champions to oversee the Titans’ rebuild.

Tennessee moved on from Jon Robinson late in the 2022 campaign, ending his seven-year run span at the helm of the franchise. Ran Carthon was brought in as his replacement, and the decision by owner Amy Adams Strunk dismiss head coach Mike Vrabel after the 2023 season seemed to set Carthon up for a long runway in his position. The Titans bottomed out this year, though, and while Brian Callahan was retained after one year as head coach, Carthon was let go.

Borgonzi was one of the top candidates in this year’s GM hiring cycle, interviewing as well for the Jets’ position. New York’s search continues, but one name has now been removed from the list of remaining options. Without a head coaching hire to make (which is still the case for both the Jets and Raiders), meanwhile, the Titans can move forward with a new power structure once the Borgonzi hire becomes official.

Kansas City and Tennessee have been connected on the trade front recently, with the trades which saw cornerback L’Jarius Sneed head to Tennessee in the offseason and which sent wideout DeAndre Hopkins to Kansas City ahead of the deadline this year representing recent examples. Borgonzi will aim to make immediate progress with respect to roster-building in his first GM opportunity, something which will include the No. 1 pick in April’s draft.

    More to come…

The Tennessee Titans have reportedly set their sights on Mike Borgonzi to fill their vacant general manager position. Borgonzi, who currently serves as the Kansas City Chiefs’ director of football operations, is highly regarded in NFL circles for his sharp football mind and keen eye for talent.

The Titans have been searching for a new GM since parting ways with Jon Robinson earlier this offseason. Borgonzi emerged as a top candidate early in the search process, and it appears that the team is now moving forward with making him their new GM.

Borgonzi has been with the Chiefs organization for over a decade, playing a key role in their recent success, including a Super Bowl victory in 2020. His ability to identify and develop talent has been instrumental in the Chiefs’ sustained excellence, and the Titans are likely hoping he can bring that same level of success to their organization.

While the hiring has not been officially announced by the Titans, multiple sources have reported that Borgonzi is expected to accept the position in the coming days. Stay tuned for more updates as this story develops.

  • Titans hire Mike Borgonzi as new general manager, ex-Chiefs assistant GM heads to Tennessee

The Tennessee Titans have found their new general manager, as the team announced on Friday that they had agreed to terms with former Kansas City Chiefs general manager Mike Borgonzi to be their new GM, according to CBS Sports NFL insider Jonathan Jones. He replaces Ran Carthon, who was fired earlier this month

Borgonzi officially interviewed for the job earlier this week on Jan. 15. He heads to Nashville after working in the Chiefs front office since 2009. In that time he rose through the ranks, starting as a administrator of college scouting up to assistant general manager, a post he’s held since 2021. In that time, Borgonzi has helped turn Kansas City into a powerhouse that has won three Super Bowl championships thanks, in part, to savvy drafting and additions by the front office.

In a message to fans following the Carthon firing, president of football operations Chad Brinker said he was searching for a new general manager that had spent their career as a scout, and was a “top-level evaluator” with “fingerprints all over the roster.”

“…It is someone who wakes up every single day and the only thing they think about is building a roster, evaluating players, watching tape, working with the coaching staff,” Brinker said. “And, not just someone who knows how to collect talent, but someone who really understands how to build a team and how all the pieces fit together that I can work with not only in the short term, winning today, but building for the future, the long term, and understanding how all those pieces fit together. If you make a decision here, how it impacts a decision down the road, and really understand the full puzzle.”

The Titans were the worst team in football this year, as they finished the season with a 3-14 final record — poor enough to clinch the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. The 14 losses tied a Titans/Oilers franchise record.

There was optimism entering 2024 for Tennessee, as Carthon spent $228 million on a free-agency shopping spree that brought players like Calvin Ridley, L’Jarius Sneed and Tony Pollard to Nashville. However, the Titans took a massive step backwards under first-year head coach Brian Callahan, and they are facing a rebuild that will now be led by Borgonzi.

The Tennessee Titans have made a major move in their front office, hiring Mike Borgonzi as their new general manager. Borgonzi, who previously served as the assistant general manager for the Kansas City Chiefs, brings a wealth of experience and a proven track record of success to his new role with the Titans.

During his time with the Chiefs, Borgonzi played a key role in building a team that consistently competed for championships, including a Super Bowl victory in 2020. His eye for talent and strategic approach to roster building make him a valuable addition to the Titans organization as they look to take the next step towards a championship of their own.

With Borgonzi at the helm, Titans fans can expect a renewed focus on building a competitive and winning team, both now and in the future. His expertise and leadership will surely have a positive impact on the team’s success, and fans can look forward to seeing the results of his efforts on the field in the coming seasons. Congratulations to Mike Borgonzi on his new role with the Titans, and best of luck to him as he leads the team to new heights.
