Boston College Eagles vs. Miami Hurricanes: How to watch, schedule, live stream info, start time, TV channel

    Who’s Playing

Miami Hurricanes @ Boston College Eagles

Current Records: Miami 4-8, Boston College 8-5

    How To Watch

    What to Know

Miami and Boston College are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2019, but not for long. Both will face off in an ACC battle at 12:00 p.m. ET on Wednesday at Silvio O. Conte Forum. The Hurricanes are no doubt hoping to put an end to a six-game streak of away losses dating back to last season.

Miami fought the good fight in their overtime matchup against Mt St Mary’s last Saturday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 78-74 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Mountaineers. The Hurricanes got off to an early lead (up 12 with 1:49 left in the first quarter), but sadly they weren’t able to maintain that momentum.

Despite the loss, Miami had strong showings from Matthew Cleveland, who earned 19 points in addition to six rebounds and two steals, and Jalil Bethea, who earned 17 points plus three steals.

Meanwhile, Boston College beat FDU 78-70 on Saturday.

Boston College can attribute much of their success to Chad Venning, who went 8 for 10 en route to 18 points plus five rebounds and four blocks, and Donald Hand Jr., who dropped a double-double on 29 points and ten rebounds. Venning’s performance made up for a slower contest against SMU last Saturday. The team also got some help courtesy of Dion Brown, who had eight points along with eight rebounds.

Miami’s defeat dropped their record down to 4-8. As for Boston College, their victory bumped their record up to 8-5.

Looking ahead, Miami is expected to win a tight contest, barring any buzzer beaters. This will be their first time playing as the favorites on the road this season.

Miami ended up a good deal behind Boston College in their previous matchup back in March of 2024, losing 81-65. Can Miami avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We’ll find out soon enough.

The oddsmakers were right in line with the betting community on this one, as the game opened as a 2.5-point spread, and stayed right there.

    STEVEN STRANG Obituary (1947 – 2024) – Boston, MA

STRANG, PhD, Steven MacDonald Passed away peacefully, on December 29, 2024, at Massachusetts General Hospital, surrounded by his cherished wife, Ayni Strang and his son, Elly Peimer. Steve was born in 1947 in Bangor, ME to Pastor Homer James Strang and Gwen “GeGe” Strang (Steve was an avowed lifelong atheist). He attended the University of Maine, graduating with a B.A. in English with highest distinction in 1969, he completed an A.M. in English at Brown University in 1971 and a PhD in English at Brown University in 1981. Steve was a born writer and began his career as a journalist and columnist with the Bangor Daily News in Maine (1965-1970) before embarking on an illustrious teaching and academic career spanning over 51 years. He taught all forms of writing and rhetoric at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology for 40 years. In 1981, he founded and directed MIT’s Writing and Communications Center (WCC). He was the author of Writing Exploratory Essays (Mayfield 1995 and Freeload 2007). He published literary criticism and pedagogical articles in such journals as College Composition Communication, Issues in Writing, The Alaska Quarterly Review and Cithara. Steve would say he was a writer at heart but those he taught knew his true calling was teaching. He inspired generations of writers, both novice and professional, to develop and perfect their craft. His generosity of spirit in supporting students, friends and family was unwavering. He continued to mentor and coach, while battling a long illness and maintained his rye and often punny sense of humor until the end. Steve’s work was his passion but his wife, Ayni, was his entire world. Steven and Ayni met in 1988 and spent nearly every day of the next 36 years together. Steve cherished Ayni and called her his angel. He adopted her two children, Elly and Marta Peimer, in 1993 and raised them as his own. Surviving, in addition to his cherished wife, Ayni; son, Elly; and daughter, Marta; are Elly’s wife, Elizabeth and their two children, Emmeline “Emme” and Eloise “Lulu” of Rhode Island; Marta’s partner, Ashton and their children, Saul and Shoshanna of New York; a niece, Mirit and her husband, Ido and their two children, Ella and Emme of California; and two nephews, Ayal, his wife, Luda and son, Ray and Oren, his wife, Amit and daughter, Arielle of Israel; a cousin, Barbilyn and her husband, Cony of North Carolina; and additional cousins in New England and New York. THAT’S WHY I DO EIGHT SHOWS A WEEK STILL, AND I LOVE IT. I’M A CLASSICAL GIRL AT HEART, BUT I’M AN ACTRESS FIRST. SO TELL US ABOUT THE SHOW. THERE WAS A DOCUMENTARY IN 2012 CALLED THE QUEEN OF VERSAILLES. IT IS BASED ON THE SIEGEL FAMILY, SPECIFICALLY JACKIE SIEGEL. THUS FAR WITH CHARACTERS THAT I’VE FALLEN IN LOVE WITH. THIS IS NO DIFFERENT. AND IF THAT WASN’T ENOUGH, KRISTIN GUIDES US BEHIND THE SCENES AT THE EMERSON COLONIAL THEATER, WHERE FINISHING TOUCHES ARE BEING PLACED ON A SET RUMORED TO BE AS GRAND AS THIS VENUE. SO THIS IS OUR SET. AND YOU KNOW WHAT? YEAH, NO, YOU’RE GONNA HAVE TO COME BACK AND SEE THE SHOW. SORRY. I’LL SEE YOU LATER. BYE. YOU HEARD HER. WE GOT TO SEE THE SHOW. IT’S TAKEN OVER OUR PARKS AND IS MOVING INTO OUR MALLS. THREE. SEVEN. ONE. HERE IT IS. OH, YEP. IT’S EVEN FOUND ITS WAY BEHIND BARS. PICKLEBALL, THE FASTEST GROWING SPORT IN THE COUNTRY. • Raptors’ RJ Barrett misses practice, won’t travel with team to Boston

Raptors’ RJ Barrett misses practice, won’t travel with team to Boston

Leading scorer RJ Barrett missed practice on Monday and will not travel with the team ahead of its Tuesday road tilt with the Boston Celtics due to illness, Sportsnet’s Michael Grange reported.

The Mississauga, Ont., native also missed two games earlier in December for the same reason. In 27 games played, Barrett is pacing the Raptors with 23.4 points per game to go with 6.8 rebounds and 6.2 assists. All of which are career highs.

Meanwhile, guards Davion Mitchell (illness) and Gradey Dick (hamstring), and centre Bruno Fernando (toe) are all questionable against the Celtics. Guard Immanuel Quickley remains out as well as he recovers from an elbow injury.

Toronto, which sits 14th in the Eastern Conference at 7-25, is riding a 10-game losing streak ahead of its matchup with the reigning NBA champions on New Year’s Eve.

It has a quick turnaround following the Boston game with a three-game homestand beginning against the Brooklyn Nets on Wednesday.

The Toronto Raptors’ rookie sensation, RJ Barrett, will not be joining his teammates on their upcoming road trip to Boston. The 20-year-old guard missed practice due to a lingering knee injury, which has kept him sidelined for the past few games.

Barrett, who was selected with the third overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft, has been a key contributor for the Raptors this season, averaging 14.3 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 3.6 assists per game. His absence will surely be felt as the team looks to secure a playoff spot in the competitive Eastern Conference.

Head coach Nick Nurse expressed disappointment over Barrett’s injury, stating, “We were hoping to have RJ back in the lineup for this road trip, but unfortunately, he’s still not 100% healthy. We’ll continue to monitor his progress and make sure he’s fully recovered before returning to action.”

Despite missing Barrett, the Raptors remain confident in their depth and ability to compete against the Boston Celtics and other top teams in the league. Fans will be eagerly awaiting Barrett’s return to the court and hoping for a speedy recovery for the talented young star.

  • Boston Celtics head coach Joe Mazzulla on the new All-Star Game format

Boston Celtics head coach Joe Mazzulla on the new All-Star Game format

After a major flop at the NBA’s 2024 All-Star Game driven by an abandonment of the playground style format, a return to the old style of All-Star games that did not even close to its intended effect. Now, league Commissioner Adam Silver and the rest of the Association’s front office has created yet another novel approach to the annual league-wide exhibition tilt.

Three teams of eight All-Stars will play one another as well as a team of the eight best Rising Stars winners in a series of shorter mini-games to a target score. What does Boston Celtics head coach Joe Mazzulla think of all this? The man himself opened up about it and several other topics after a recent team practice.

The folks behind the “NBC Sports Boston” YouTube channel got it all on video for us to watch later. Check it out below!

This article originally appeared on Celtics Wire: Boston head coach Joe Mazzulla on the new All-Star Game format

Recently, Boston Celtics head coach Joe Mazzulla shared his thoughts on the new All-Star Game format that was introduced this year. In a post-game press conference, Mazzulla expressed his excitement for the changes made to the traditional format of the All-Star Game.

Mazzulla praised the new Elam Ending, which sees the game end with a target score instead of a clock. He believes that this format adds a new level of excitement and competitiveness to the game, as teams have to strategize and execute to reach the target score.

Additionally, Mazzulla commended the NBA for incorporating the Kobe Bryant MVP Award in honor of the late Lakers legend. He emphasized the importance of honoring Bryant’s legacy and the impact he had on the game of basketball.

Overall, Mazzulla is excited to see how the new All-Star Game format continues to evolve and hopes that it will continue to provide fans with entertaining and competitive basketball.

Indiana Pacers vs Boston Celtics Prediction, Odds and Picks

The Indiana Pacers and the Boston Celtics will play for the second time in three days at TD Garden. In the first game, Boston blew the Pacers out 142-105. Boston shot 51% from the field and went 23-56 from beyond the arc. There are little-to-no teams that can match Boston when they shoot the way they did. The Pacers couldn’t find their shot all night, only shooting 41% and 28% from three. Jaylen Brown continued to show that he is one of the best two-way players in the NBA. Brown scored 44 points on 66% shooting, and he did this all while picking up Tyrese Haliburton full court for 37 minutes. The Pacers did manage to beat the Celtics back in October of this year, 135-132.

The Celtics and Pacers are two NBA teams that predicate themselves on pace and try to overwhelm their opponent with a flurry of points. The Celtics are currently 3rd in the NBA in offensive rating with a rating of 119.6. The Celtics shoot an absurd amount of three pointers each game. They rank 1st in the NBA with 50.5 three-point attempts per game. In comparison to the rest of the league, 2nd place is the Bulls with 43.6 three-point attempts per game. The Celtics roster is designed to make the three, and they make it at a rate of 36.6%.  The Pacers are not far behind the Celtics on offense, ranked 11th with an offensive rating of 115.4. What the Pacers lack in offensive rating, they make up for in pace. Indiana ranks 7th in the NBA in pace played with a score of 100.78. The fast-paced offense has led to an average of 114.4 points per game. Usually, I like for the team that just got blown out to come back with a better effort in game two of a back-to-back, but with how many threes the Celtics take, they can be a hard team to predict. Instead, I like for the Pacers to lean into what they know best and to have a better offensive outing tonight.

The Indiana Pacers are set to take on the Boston Celtics in what promises to be an exciting matchup. Both teams are coming off strong performances and will be looking to secure a crucial win in the Eastern Conference.

The Pacers have been playing solid basketball as of late, with key players such as Domantas Sabonis and Malcolm Brogdon leading the charge. They will be looking to continue their winning streak and improve their position in the standings.

On the other hand, the Celtics are also a formidable opponent, with Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown leading the way. Despite some recent struggles, the Celtics have the talent and depth to compete with the best teams in the league.

In terms of odds, the Celtics are currently favored to win this matchup. However, the Pacers have shown that they can compete with top teams and should not be underestimated.

In terms of predictions, this game could go either way. Both teams have the potential to come out on top, but it may ultimately come down to which team can execute their game plan more effectively.

As for picks, I would lean towards the Celtics to come away with the win in a close game. However, the Pacers are more than capable of pulling off the upset, so it should be an exciting matchup to watch.
