Fitted blazers are back, per Kendall Jenner and Hailey Bieber.
On January 26, Jenner was spotted leaving a Schiaparelli fitting in an oversized—but not particularly shapeless—double-breasted blazer, layering the checkered statement piece over a jacquard striped dress shirt and matching tie, otherwise known as the Gen Z bow. She completed her office-appropriate look (all Bottega Veneta) with black trousers and simple loafers, proving the model is never too off-duty for corpcore dressing.
This ’80s silhouette, which cinches at the waist but leaves volume across the shoulders and flares at the hip, creates the illusion of an exaggerated hourglass figure, immediately adding shape back into Jenner’s otherwise loose-fitting ensemble.

The same effect can elevate a going-out look, as demonstrated by Hailey Bieber, who recently opted for a similarly tailored silhouette in a more fitted style, pairing her slim black blazer with a nude dress and sheer black pantyhose, fastening only the middle button to further emphasize the waist.
Then there’s first-time Oscar nominee Monica Barbaro, who married the two silhouettes in the “business woman special” Congtri blazer for an event in October.
That same month, Bieber wore a “business as usual” brown suit that hinted towards more streamlined silhouettes to come.
It seems like only yesterday the girlies were rocking purposefully enormous styles with nary a curve in sight—and that’s because it basically was. However, with the (slow) rise of skinny jeans, slim sneakers, and the revival of the prep school aesthetic, it’s clear that spring 2025 will feature a lot more structure and definition mixed in with more relaxed staples.
You might say that just because Kendall Jenner and Hailey Bieber wore cinched blazers, it doesn’t mean the boxy trend is over, and that’s true. Just as skinny jeans have made their way back into the discourse, barrel jeans have shot up in popularity in contrast. You’ve still got time.

She’s the man.
If fit-and-flare suiting wasn’t already all over the spring-summer 2024 and 2025 runways, I’d say we have a long way to go before the trend truly takes over. However, fashion and celebrity street style is typically phase two of the sartorial trickle-down system so elegantly exposed in The Devil Wears Prada, which means we, the consumer, are next.

Most importantly, these ’80s-inspired jackets just seem to look good with everything from baggy pants to a teeny-tiny bodysuit. Plus, as proven by Jenner, you don’t have to sacrifice the comfort of an oversized blazer to achieve the more fitted look. Like her, you can opt for tailoring that creates the illusion of a fitted waist without having to wear anything too tight to the body.
And yes, of course you should keep wearing your boxy blazers if you like them. I personally think of trends as a guide to discovering the pieces that fit my personal style, not a map of what’s acceptable to wear, leaving other items to gather dust until they make their way back into circulation (I’m still cursing myself for losing track of my Y2K-era Juicy tracksuit). In fact, you don’t necessarily need to buy a whole new blazer to achieve this look. In the words of Glamour editor Sam Reed, “Get out your giant safety pins, ladies and gents. We’re cinching up.”
