  • Reese Witherspoon Says Famous British Actress ‘Doesn’t Like’ Her Anymore: Evidence From Fans Reveals Kate Winslet as Her Former Friend | Kate Winslet, Reese Witherspoon | Just Jared: Celebrity News and Gossip

Reese Witherspoon has made headlines by revealing that a famous British actress will no longer talk to her and we’ve found evidence from a fan site in 2007 that identifies that actress as Kate Winslet.

The Oscar-winning actress opened up about the falling out in a new interview alongside her You’re Cordially Invited co-star Will Ferrell.

Reese asked Will, “Have you ever had this moment where you gave a speech and then like three years later, you’re like, ‘Why did I do that? Why did I do that?’”

“I have one. It literally haunts me,” Reese began.

Keep reading to find out more…

“So this friend of mine, who I didn’t really know that well but she was a very serious, proper actress, she asked me to give her an award. But I had never been to this award ceremony, so I thought it was like a roast. So I got up and I roasted her,” Reese said. “The tone was British and elegant and classy. And I was like, ‘Remember the time we got laser hair removal?!’ I’m still embarrassed about it.”

“We’re not friends anymore. I’m not even kidding — we’re not friends anymore,” Reese added. “I think she doesn’t like me anymore. I thought it was so funny and it was just, I had the wrong audience. It was pretty bad. Yeah. Not even kidding, she doesn’t talk to me anymore. Oh well.”

Well, we tracked down the transcript of the speech and she gave it while honoring Kate Winslet at the BAFTA/LA Cunard Britannia Awards in November 2007.

Reese and Kate were seemingly friendly already as they were seen greeting each other at the 2007 Golden Globe Awards in January 2007.

Reese Witherspoon and Kate Winslet in 2007

So, what did Reese say in that speech? The transcript was posted on a fan site back in 2007.

“I always wanted to be a European movie star, wear giant sunglasses, elaborate neck scarves, smoke hand-rolled cigarettes, and have savoir faire and gravitas,” Reese said. “Imagine my good fortune when Kate Winslet moved into my neighborhood, rang my door bell and said, (insert British accent here) ‘Dahling, Sam is off shooting, and I believe our children are the same age. Could they possibly have a play date and oh, by the way, it’s almost 9 o’clock and I’ve had nothing to do drink, do you have any wine?’”

Reese said that she admires Kate‘s “fearlessness. When I saw her in Iris and she took off all her clothes and jumped into that lake, I thought, ‘Wow, I bet that lake is really cold.’ And then I thought, ‘Wow, There’s an actor without fear.’”

Reese teased that she couldn’t tell her personal stories about Kate because “they’re all too bawdy or tawdry or drunken to tell.”

While the exact quote isn’t available, the fan site noted that among the “too embarrassing” stories were “the time they contemplated laser hair removal and… or that time on the freeway when they pulled over and.. or that really funny thing that happened when they were both in their underwear.”

The laser hair removal comment gave Kate‘s identity away.

While it doesn’t sound like Reese and Kate ever reconciled their friendship, based on the new comments, they did reunite many years later.

  • Jordan Spieth Reveals Gnarly Wrist Injury He Suffered at Last Year’s British Open

Jordan Spieth had a year to forget in 2024. The three-time major champion struggled all season with a wrist injury which greatly hindered his ability to perform on the golf course.

The injury has plagued Spieth since 2023, but it wasn’t until last year’s British Open that the 31-year-old decided enough was enough.

While speaking with Jim Nantz at a Q&A Wednesday night and reported via Golfweek, Jordan explained what happened at Royal Troon.

“I got [the tendon] back in before I hit my tee shot, and that’s when I thought maybe that’s the last straw. Maybe we should probably do something about this,” he said. “I don’t really feel like playing like this anymore.”

Spieth finished the season and then had surgery once he was eliminated from the FedEx Cup playoffs. He continued to explain the recovery process since his surgery.

“A real ball, if I hit more than 40, 50 yards hurt pretty bad on impact,” he told Nantz. “Then at around Week 12, which is what my surgeon thought it would be of the recovery time, there was a stretch there between like 11 and a half and 12 and a half where I could start to hit on a ball count and I would hit one, say a 6-iron thin off the heel and it hurt real bad.

“Then one day the thin heel one just didn’t hurt anymore. I hit it and I was like that should be the exact same as it was yesterday and it just didn’t hurt.”

Spieth is unsure of how he will play in his first start since the surgery.

“I wouldn’t be surprised if I’m in the top 10 entering Sunday here, but I wouldn’t be surprised if I’m not,” he said.

If there is anywhere that Spieth can play well despite some rust, it’s Pebble Beach. He won the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am in 2017 and also has three top-10 finishes in the event in his past five starts.

Jordan Spieth, the three-time major champion and former world number one, has revealed a gnarly wrist injury he suffered at last year’s British Open.

In an interview with Golf Digest, Spieth opened up about the injury, which occurred during the second round of the tournament at Royal St. George’s Golf Club. The 28-year-old Texan said he felt a sharp pain in his wrist after hitting a shot out of the rough on the 12th hole.

“I knew something was wrong as soon as I made contact with the ball,” Spieth said. “It felt like a lightning bolt shooting up my arm. I knew I had to finish the round, but it was excruciating.”

Spieth went on to finish the tournament tied for 30th, but the injury continued to bother him for months afterwards. He eventually sought treatment from a specialist, who diagnosed him with a torn ligament in his wrist.

“It was a tough pill to swallow, knowing that I had played through the pain and potentially made the injury worse,” Spieth said. “But I’m grateful for the medical team that helped me get back to full health.”

Despite the setback, Spieth is confident that he will be able to compete at the highest level again. He recently won the Valero Texas Open, his first PGA Tour victory in nearly four years, and is looking forward to the upcoming majors.

“I’ve learned a lot from this experience, both mentally and physically,” Spieth said. “I’m stronger and more determined than ever to get back to the top of the game. Watch out, world, because I’m coming for you.”

  • Marianne Faithfull, singular icon of British pop, dies aged 78 | Marianne Faithfull

Marianne Faithfull, whose six-decade career marked her out as one of the UK’s most versatile and characterful singer-songwriters, has died aged 78.

A spokesperson said: “It is with deep sadness that we announce the death of the singer, songwriter and actress Marianne Faithfull.

“Marianne passed away peacefully in London today, in the company of her loving family. She will be dearly missed.”

With a discography that spanned classic 60s pop tunes to the prowling synthpop of Broken English and onto collaborations with Nick Cave, Warren Ellis, Lou Reed and more, Faithfull was idolised by fans and fellow musicians alike, and was also celebrated across the worlds of fashion and film.

Born in 1946 in London, Faithfull was descended from Austrian nobility on her mother’s side – her great-great-uncle Leopold von Sacher-Masoch wrote the erotic novel Venus in Furs – but grew up in relatively ordinary surroundings in a terraced house in Reading.

After leaving for London in her teens, she met Rolling Stones manager Andrew Loog Oldham, who asked Mick Jagger and Keith Richards to write her 1964 debut single As Tears Go By, which hit the UK Top 10. She had three other Top 10 singles in 1965, all of which also reached the Top 40 in the US.

Faithfull also began acting at that time, appearing on stage in productions of Chekhov’s Three Sisters, alongside Glenda Jackson, and Hamlet, playing Ophelia with Anjelica Huston as her understudy and performing each night’s climactic “madness” scene, she later revealed, high on heroin.

On screen, she acted alongside Orson Welles, Oliver Reed, Alain Delon and Anna Karina, and played herself in Jean-Luc Godard’s 1966 film Made in the USA.

Her fame as an icon of “swinging London” was superseded, though, by the infamy that came from her relationship with the Rolling Stones. She had married artist John Dunbar in 1965 and had a son, Nicholas, but soon left Dunbar for Mick Jagger, with whom she had a four-year relationship.

She was often described as a muse for the band: she once told Jagger “wild horses couldn’t drag me away”, which became the chorus line to Wild Horses, and her drug struggles also proved inspirational for the songs Dear Doctor and You Can’t Always Get What You Want. She said: “I know they used me as a muse for those tough drug songs. I knew I was being used, but it was for a worthy cause.”

She co-wrote her song Sister Morphine, recorded with Jagger, Richards and Ry Cooder, and later recorded by the Rolling Stones for their album Sticky Fingers, but her writing credit was left off until she won a protracted legal battle.

Her addiction to cocaine and heroin worsened, and her reputation was damaged by being discovered naked, wrapped in a fur rug after having a shower, during a 1967 police search of Keith Richards’ house, alongside Richards, Jagger and six other men (described by one person as an innocent gathering “of pure domesticity”). “It destroyed me,” she later said. “To be a male drug addict and to act like that is always enhancing and glamorising. A woman in that situation becomes a slut and a bad mother.”

In 1970, Faithfull lost custody of her son, split with Jagger and became homeless, living on the streets of Soho in London as she tried to quit heroin. “I’d been living in a very fake sort of world in the 60s,” she said in 2016. “Suddenly, when I was living on the streets … I realised that human beings were really good. The Chinese restaurant let me wash my clothes there. The man who had the tea stall gave me cups of tea.” She slowly turned her life around, ending an almost decade-long spell away from music with the country album Dreamin’ My Dreams in 1976.

She cemented her comeback with one of her most acclaimed albums, 1979’s Grammy-nominated Broken English, embracing synth-pop and post-punk with an affectingly raw, deepened voice. She quit drugs for good in 1985, and regularly released music throughout the rest of her career. Her collaborators over the years included Nick Cave, Damon Albarn, Emmylou Harris, Beck and Metallica. She released 21 studio albums in total.

Faithfull married and divorced two additional times, to Ben Brierly of punk band the Vibrators, and actor Giorgio Della Terza. “I’ve had a wonderful life with all my lovers, and husbands,” she said in 2011, excepting Della Terza: “He was American, and he was a nightmare.”

There were other acting roles, too, notably playing God in two episodes of the sitcom Absolutely Fabulous; the devil in a 2004 production of The Black Rider, a musical by Tom Waits and William Burroughs; and empress Maria Theresa in Sofia Coppola’s film Marie Antoinette.

In her later years, she lived in Paris, and reacted to the terror attack at the city’s Bataclan concert venue, which killed 90 people in 2015, with a song called They Come at Night written on the day of the attacks.

Faithfull had numerous health issues. In 2007, she announced she had the liver illness hepatitis C, having been diagnosed 12 years previously. She had successful surgery following a breast cancer diagnosis in 2006, and weathered numerous joint ailments in her later years, including arthritis. In the early 70s, she also suffered from anorexia during her heroin addiction. In 2020, she contracted Covid-19 and was hospitalised for 22 days.

She is survived by her son, Nicholas Dunbar.

It is with heavy hearts that we bid farewell to Marianne Faithfull, a singular icon of British pop music. The legendary singer, songwriter, and actress passed away at the age of 78, leaving behind a legacy that will forever be etched in the annals of music history.

Marianne Faithfull rose to fame in the 1960s with her hauntingly beautiful voice and captivating stage presence. Her hits such as “As Tears Go By” and “Broken English” showcased her immense talent and versatility as an artist. She was known for her distinctive voice, raw lyrics, and fearless approach to her music, which set her apart from her peers.

Throughout her career, Marianne Faithfull faced many challenges and obstacles, including battles with addiction and health issues. However, she always persevered and continued to create music that resonated with audiences around the world. Her ability to connect with listeners on a deep emotional level was unparalleled, making her a beloved figure in the music industry.

Marianne Faithfull’s influence on the British pop scene cannot be overstated. She paved the way for countless artists with her fearless attitude, unapologetic style, and innovative approach to music. Her legacy will live on through her timeless songs, powerful performances, and unrelenting spirit.

As we mourn the loss of Marianne Faithfull, let us remember her as a trailblazer, a visionary, and a true original. She will forever be remembered as one of the greatest icons of British pop music, and her music will continue to inspire generations to come. Rest in peace, Marianne Faithfull. You will be dearly missed.

  • Emma Raducanu: British number two loses at Singapore Open

Britain’s Emma Raducanu suffered a disappointing defeat against world number 101 Cristina Bucsa of Spain in the opening round of the Singapore Open.

The 22-year-old was playing for the first time since her 6-1 6-0 third round loss to Iga Swiatek at the Australian Open and the news her coach Nick Cavaday was stepping back from the role to “prioritise getting back to full health”.

But in a gruelling encounter lasting three hours and three minutes and featuring 17 breaks of service, Bucsa came through 5-7 7-5 7-5 against the seventh seed in the pair’s first meeting.

The Spaniard had served for the opening set at 5-4 up but Raducanu, ranked 56, rattled off the next three games to take control of the match.

The second set started with three consecutive breaks of service to leave Bucsa 3-1 and then 4-2 up but Raducanu continued to battle and another run of three games in a row saw her go 5-4 up but Bucsa responded with the next three games to level the match.

Both players struggled to hold serve in the decider but although a weary-looking Raducanu dug deep to edge 5-4 ahead, Bucsa held and then broke her opponent at a crucial time to leave her serving for the match.

The British number two saved a couple of match points but Bucsa, the Olympic women’s doubles bronze medallist, quickly earned another and this time Raducanu netted.

Bucsa will next face either Sijia Wei of China or Mananchaya Sawangkaew of Thailand in the last 16.

Meanwhile, British number five Jodie Burrage was beaten by Croatia’s Antonia Ruzic in the second round of qualifying at the Linz Open in Austria.

Burrage, who impressed in a second-round defeat by Coco Gauff at the Australian Open earlier this month, beat Serbia’s Lola Radivojevic in the first qualifying round but lost 6-4 7-6 (7-1) to Ruzic, who is ranked 18 places below the Briton at 168th in the world.

Emma Raducanu, the rising star of British tennis, has suffered a disappointing defeat at the Singapore Open. The 19-year-old, who is currently ranked as the British number two, was defeated in straight sets by her opponent in the second round of the tournament.

Despite putting up a strong fight, Raducanu was unable to overcome her opponent’s powerful game and ultimately fell short in her bid to advance further in the tournament. This loss comes as a setback for the young tennis prodigy, who has been making waves in the tennis world with her impressive performances and breakthrough victories.

However, this defeat is just a bump in the road for Raducanu, who has shown incredible talent and potential in her young career. With her determination and skill, there is no doubt that she will bounce back stronger and continue to make a name for herself on the international tennis circuit.

Fans of Raducanu will no doubt be eagerly awaiting her next match, as they cheer on the British starlet in her quest for success on the tennis court. With her talent and drive, there is no doubt that Raducanu has a bright future ahead of her in the world of tennis.

  • Margaret Qualley is working on her British accent for Victorian Psycho

Margaret Qualley is working on her British accent in preparation for the psychological thriller Victorian Psycho

    The Substance Margaret Qualley

Margaret Qualley has worked with the likes of Shane Black (The Nice Guys), Quentin Tarantino (Once Upon a Time in Hollywood), Yorgos Lanthimos (Poor Things and Kinds of Kindness), and Ethan Cohen (Drive-Away Dolls), and she had a prominent role in Coralie Fargeat’s Oscar-nominated body horror film The Substance. She has more interesting collaborations ahead, as she has worked with Richard Linklater on the Lorenz Hart biopic Blue Moon (where she stars alongside Ethan Hawke), re-teamed with Ethan Cohen for Honey Don’t!, where she co-stars with Chris Evans, Aubrey Plaza, Charlie Day, Billy Eichner, and Talia Ryder (Qualley plays a private investigator looking into a cult led by Evans), and will be working with Sanctuary director Zachary Wigon again on the psychological horror thriller Victorian Psycho. The Wigon film will be heading into production soon, and during an interview with IndieWire, Qualley confirmed that she’s working on her British accent.

Wigon will be directing the film from a screenplay written by author Virginia Feito (Mrs. March), based on her upcoming novel of the same name. Victorian Psycho has the following synopsis: In 1858, a young, eccentric governess named Winifred Notty (Margaret Qualley) arrives at the remote gothic manor known as Ensor House. Winifred’s responsibilities include teaching the children table manners and educating them about their family’s history, all whilst hiding her psychopathic tendencies. As Winifred assimilates into life at Ensor House, staff members begin to inexplicably disappear, and the owners of the estate begin to wonder if there is something amiss about their new governess. Thomasin McKenzie, whose previous credits include Old and Last Night in Soho, will be playing a nursemaid at Ensor House who befriends the eccentric new Governess.

The film is being produced by Dan Kagan under his Traffic. banner, along with Wigon and Sebastien Raybaud, in association with Anonymous Content. Nick Shumaker and Bard Dorros serve as executive producers. Anton is providing the funding and representing international rights, launching sales at the upcoming American Film Market. U.S. rights are co-represented by Anton, UTA Independent Film Group, and CAA Media Finance. A24 has acquired the domestic distribution rights.

When this project was first announced, Wigon provided the following statement: “As soon as I discovered this thoroughly insane and unforgettable character, I knew I had to introduce moviegoers to Winifred Notty. I am beyond thrilled that the utterly fearless Margaret Qualley will be bringing this complex antihero to vivid life. Virginia Feito’s screenplay is an audacious blend of psychodrama, satire, gore and mystery. With horror aficionado producer Dan Kagan and the support of Anton and Anonymous, I cannot wait to make Victorian Psycho.” Kagan added, “From its first few pages to its terrifying ending, Victorian Psycho entirely delivered on its promise of being a ride like nothing I’d read before. I couldn’t be more excited to be bringing this movie to life with our partners at Anton and Anonymous.” And Qualley had this to say: “Working with Zach [Wigon] again feels like a rare gift, and I can’t wait to step into this twisted world he’s created.

Speaking with IndieWire, Qualley said, “I’ve never done a British accent before, so that’s terrifying. I’ve been working on the accent, and my poor husband, I’ve limited our movies to only British accent movies. I read this book on the Victorian life and it was really interesting. It’s just kind of amazing how much we’ve evolved in such a short time period. And I’ve been wearing a corset around the house to get comfortable with that. It’s actually not as bad as you think if it fits well, and it’s kind of fun. I’m just trying to get used to moving a little bit differently.” Despite working with a lot of great directors, she isn’t planning to direct anything herself any time soon. “Richard Linklater inspired me to do more of what I do already. I don’t really have any big directing ambitions, but I really value directors and I feel like I am doing such a different thing than they are. I really like just love working with people that I feel like know more about movies than I do and learning from them.

  • Man Utd v Rangers LIVE: Team news and line-ups as British giants clash in Europa League

Manchester United host Rangers in the Europa League this evening, with Ruben Amorim’s side looking to take a step towards the last 16 at Old Trafford.

United lost 3-1 to Brighton last weekend and have little else to fight for in the league, but the Europa League offers a chance to salvage their season.

Winning the competition looks like United’s only hope of getting anywhere near European football next season and, while that looks a way off at present, Amorim will want to get through to the last 16 with minimal fuss.

United sit in seventh in the league phase table ahead of kick-off and they face a Rangers side who are one point and one place below them despite their domestic struggles.

Follow all the latest build-up and team news from Old Trafford below:

    Big night for Collyer

    19:07 , Richard Jolly

More a battle of Britain than the battle of Britain, given that Rangers played Tottenham in their last Europa League match, but their visit to Old Trafford has added spice. It is a big night for Toby Collyer, whose only previous Manchester United start came against Barnsley and at left-back. His team need to win. United could do with avoiding the play-off round, rather than stumbling into it.

Marcus Rashford left out of squad again

    19:05 , Will Castle

No return for Marcus Rashford into the Manchester United fold as Ruben Amorim leaves him out of the squad once again.

Rashford declared in December that he was “ready for a new challenge” and has since only made the teamsheet once, watching on from the bench during their 2-0 home defeat to Newcastle last month.

Borussia Dortmund, Juventus and AC Milan are among those reported as potential suitors, but The Independent understands that a permanent move away is unlikely this month.

When is the Europa League play-offs draw?

    19:00 , Will Castle

As we enter the penultimate matchweek in the Europa League league phase, the competition’s format will soon see its new play-offs format in action for the first time in February, to decide which teams enter the last-16 knockout round.

The top eight teams in the final Europa League league-phase table will automatically go through to the last-16. They will be joined by the play-offs: a set of eight two-legged ties between those clubs who finished between ninth and 24th in the league standings.

The draw for the Europa League playoffs will take place on 31 January 2025. It will take place shortly after the Champions League draw, so it is expected to be around 6pm GMT.

When is the Europa League draw? Date, start time, TV and new format

    Who makes the benches tonight?

    18:59 , Will Castle

Here are the substitutes for both teams tonight.

Manchester United: Onana, Heaton; Maguire, Malacia, Mazraoui, Casemiro, Ugarte, Mainoo, Antony, Hojlund.

Rangers: Kelly, Munn; King, Hutton, Dowell, Rice, Curtis, Nsio, McCausland, Lawrence, Dessers, Lovelace.

    Confirmed team news

    18:55 , Will Castle

Manchester United XI: Bayindir; Yoro, De Ligt, Martinez; Diallo, Eriksen, Collyer, Amad; Garnacho, Fernandes, Zirkzee

Rangers XI: Butland; Tavernier, Propper, Balogun, Jefte; Barron, Raskin; Ridvan, Bajrami, Cerny; Igamane

State of play coming into tonight

    18:50 , Will Castle

United sit seventh in the Europa League table with 12 points from their opening six games and the fact they are well placed to qualify for the last 16 is largely down to Ruud van Nistelrooy, who oversaw their first win of the campaign, while in caretaker charge.

He ended a run of three straight draws as United secured a 2-0 home win over PAOK Salonika, with Amad Diallo scoring both goals.

Rangers are one place and one point behind them in the league table after three wins, two draws and one defeat from their six games so far.

That loss came at home to Lyon, but they have beaten Malmo and Nice away, and FCSB at home, they also drew 1-1 with Tottenham at Ibrox last time out, so they won’t be a pushover for United.

Both will be eager to plant one foot in the last 16 this evening.

Manchester United eye first recruit of troubled Ruben Amorim era

    18:40 , Will Castle

Manchester United are interested in signing Patrick Dorgu from Lecce, as they look to make a wing back the first recruit of the Ruben Amorim era.

The 20-year-old Denmark international, who has won four caps, is on United’s radar as they search for signings who suit Amorim’s style of play.

Dorgu, an international teammate of Rasmus Hojlund, broke into Lecce’s team last season, and could address United’s lack of left-footed options on that flank.

Man Utd identify first transfer recruit of troubled Ruben Amorim era

Amorim in dire need of a boost

    18:30 , Will Castle

United boss Ruben Amorim pulled no punches after watching his side lose 3-1 at home to Brighton on Sunday to make it one home win from their last five.

It was also the seventh defeat since Amorim took over as manager, in November, prompting him to describe the side as “maybe the worst” in the club’s 147-year history.

These quotes have prompted criticism from all directions but maybe they will have the desired effect when they take on Rangers tonight.

    Predicted lineups

    18:20 , Will Castle

Man Utd XI: Onana; de Ligt, Maguire, Martinez; Mazraoui, Collyer, Mainoo, Dalot; Amad, Fernandes; Hojlund.

Rangers XI: Kelly; Yilmaz, Propper, Nsiala, Jefte; Diomande, Raskin; Cerny, Danilo, Hagi; Igamane.

    Rangers team news

Goalkeeper Jack Butland remains out, as do John Souttar, Neraysho Kasanwirjo and Danilo, who suffered an injury last week against Aberdeen.

However, captain James Tavernier should be available after making his return at the weekend in the Scottish Cup.

United have no new injury concerns after the loss to Brighton, though Luke Shaw, Victor Lindelof and Mason Mount all remain sidelined.

Amorim may opt to rest some players in key positions, with Toby Collyer and Christian Eriksen potentially starting in midfield.

In attack, Alejandro Garnacho and Rasmus Hojlund could return, while it is unknown whether Amorim would want to use Tyrell Malacia and Antony with both reportedly on the verge of loan move.

  • Millie Bobby Brown’s micro bikini is from an affordable British brand

For most of us, the idea of slipping into a bikini on a beach somewhere is still a distant dream. But every year our favourite fashionistas jet off for some January sun to cure their post-holiday blues.

Whilst we witness through our screens green with envy, we do appreciate that this gives us an idea of what summer sartorial trends to look out for way ahead of time.

In the swimwear department, it appears the A-listers are waving goodbye to minimalism and embracing bold, colour-clad bikinis for 2025 – a welcomed return for those who’ve had enough of muted dressing.

The latest to confirm the aesthetic is one to watch, was Stranger Things actress and style muse Millie Bobby Brown

The multi-hyphenate Gen Z took to Instagram to share a photo ‘dump’ of her holiday with her husband Jake Bongiovi (yes, she’s making us feel old too).

Whilst she gave us plenty of summer fashion food for thought, from sunglasses to crop tops and caps, her dopamine-inducing bikini stood was hard to miss.

She posed for a mirror selfie in a Brazil-themed bikini by Jaded London. She wore the ‘Amarela’ laced edge halter neck bikini top – a yellow bikini with green eyelet detailing, paired with matching yellow thong bottoms featuring green straps and ‘Brasil’ written on the front.

The two-piece, which the website describes as a ‘micro fit’, totals at £63 for the set, with the top costing £35 and the bottoms, £28.

Millie’s bold swimwear is one of many striking sets we’ve seen this January. Singer Rita Ora has been championing neon greens and bright oranges and American model Emily Ratajkowski has been donning chilli red micro bikinis in Mexico – the same colour as Bella Hadid who paired her fiery crimson two-piece with cowboy boots in the snow…

On trend and affordable? Millie Bobby Brown’s wardrobe strikes again…

Millie Bobby Brown’s micro bikini is from an affordable British brand

Stranger Things star Millie Bobby Brown recently turned heads with her beach photos, sporting a tiny micro bikini that had fans buzzing. Many were surprised to learn that the actress’s stylish swimwear is actually from an affordable British brand.

The bikini in question is from the brand Oh Polly, known for its trendy and fashion-forward pieces that won’t break the bank. The micro bikini features a flattering high-cut design and comes in a variety of vibrant colors and prints, perfect for making a statement on the beach or by the pool.

  • Prince Harry settles his lawsuit with Rupert Murdoch’s News Group Newspapers, British media report

London — Britain’s Prince Harry has settled his lawsuit against the U.K. newspaper group owned by media mogul Rupert Murdoch, News Group Newspapers, Britain’s Press Association and the BBC reported, citing statements read out in a London court room on Wednesday.

The 2019 lawsuit brought by Harry, along with a former senior U.K. lawmaker, saw them sue News Group over alleged unlawful activities carried out by both tabloid journalists and private investigators employed by its newspapers, the Sun, and the no-longer-in-circulation News of the World. It is one of a number of lawsuits Harry has brought against newspapers in Britain.

On Tuesday, Emma Jones, a board member of the advocacy group Hacked Off, which has been working with Harry on his lawsuit, said proceedings had been scheduled to resume that morning, but that both sides appealed for extra time as the settlement talks were underway.

Jones said a “huge amount of money is going to be passing hands,” but she said she did not know the exact amount.

She said Harry also wanted “some sort of admission… that implicates NGN (News Group). An admission, in a way, of what went on,” Jones said.

“He doesn’t want to just walk away from this with an apology. He wants something tangible that he can say well, you know, ‘I at least have this. I proved my point,’” Jones said as negotiations continued Tuesday.

News Group has faced numerous lawsuits over allegations of phone hacking and illegal information gathering, and it has settled more that 1,300 involving politicians and celebrities. It has always denied, however, that the Sun newspaper was involved in any illegal activities, or that senior figures were aware of anything illegal and tried to cover it up.

Harry had previously said he wanted to go to trial to get to the truth, rather than to get a payout, after other claimants settled out of court.

In court documents that emerged in 2023, Prince Harry claimed that his own brother, heir to the British throne Prince William, quietly received “a very large sum of money” in a 2020 phone hacking settlement with Murdoch’s U.K. newspaper group.

After a long and drawn-out legal battle, Prince Harry has reportedly settled his lawsuit with Rupert Murdoch’s News Group Newspapers, according to British media reports.

The lawsuit, which was related to phone hacking allegations against the News of the World tabloid, was originally filed by Prince Harry in 2020. The Duke of Sussex accused the newspaper of illegally intercepting his voicemail messages and invading his privacy.

Details of the settlement have not been disclosed, but it is believed that Prince Harry received a substantial payout from News Group Newspapers as part of the agreement.

This marks the end of a tumultuous chapter for Prince Harry, who has been vocal about his disdain for the British tabloid press and their invasive tactics. The settlement is seen as a victory for the Duke of Sussex and a step towards holding media outlets accountable for their actions.

While the terms of the settlement remain private, many are hopeful that this will serve as a warning to other media organizations not to engage in unethical practices. Prince Harry’s fight for privacy and justice continues, and this settlement is a significant milestone in that journey.

  • Australian Open: British No. 1 Katie Boulter out in second round

British women’s No. 1 Katie Boulter is out of the Australian Open after a second round defeat to Veronika Kudermetova in Melbourne.

Boulter struggled for consistency as unforced errors held her back throughout the match, which she lost 7-6, 2-6, 6-2.

It marks another early Grand Slam exit for the 28-year-old, who has never advanced past the third round in a major tournament.

Had she won, Boulter would have become the fourth Brit to reach the third round, in what would have been a record for the country after Emma Raducanu, Jack Draper and Jacob Fearnley all won their second round matches.

Raducanu beat American Amanda Anisimova earlier on Thursday to set up a clash with World No. 2 Iga Swiatek on Saturday.

In a disappointing turn of events, British No. 1 Katie Boulter has been knocked out in the second round of the Australian Open. The 24-year-old, who was seeded 26th in the tournament, was defeated by her opponent in a hard-fought match.

Boulter had high hopes for the tournament and was aiming to make a deep run, but unfortunately, her journey has come to an end sooner than expected. Despite the loss, Boulter showed determination and fought hard until the very end.

Fans of Boulter will no doubt be disappointed by the result, but the young tennis player has shown great potential and will no doubt bounce back stronger in future tournaments. We wish her the best of luck in her future matches and hope to see her back in top form soon.

  • British Airways crew error grounds flight to Brussels, costs airline £100,000

British Airways Airbus A321neo © Anna Zvereva from Tallinn, Estonia, on wikepedia

A British Airways (BA) flight from London Heathrow to Brussels was cancelled on Monday, 13 January, after a crew member accidentally deployed the emergency slide on an Airbus A321, rendering the aircraft unusable. The mishap caused a three-hour delay for passengers while a replacement jet was arranged and is estimated to have cost the airline £100,000.

A source highlighted that such errors are rare due to extensive crew training, making this incident particularly surprising. BA apologised to the affected passengers and worked quickly to resolve the issue.

The information appeared first in the British newspaper The Sun and was reproduced in a few other British and US newspapers. However, it was impossible for Aviation24.be to confirm some details:

    • The registration of the affected aircraft. It may be A321neo G-NEOY, which did not operate any flight on 13 January
    • The registration and flight times of the replacement aircraft. Only two scheduled BA flights operated to Brussels on 13 January: BA388 and BA398, and both arrived on schedule. No BA flight was recorded with a 3-hour delay at Brussels Airport.

This follows a similar incident last year when a BA captain deployed an emergency slide on the ground, delaying another flight to Bucharest.

British Airways crew error grounds flight to Brussels, costs airline £100,000

A recent incident involving a British Airways flight to Brussels has left the airline facing a hefty bill of £100,000 after a crew error forced the plane to be grounded.

The flight, which was scheduled to depart from London Heathrow to Brussels, was delayed for several hours due to a mistake made by the flight crew. The error, which has not been disclosed by the airline, resulted in the plane being unable to take off and forced passengers to wait on the tarmac while the issue was resolved.

As a result of the delay, British Airways was forced to cover the costs of rebooking passengers on alternative flights, providing accommodation for those who were stranded overnight, and compensating passengers for the inconvenience caused.

The incident has left the airline reeling from the financial impact, with the £100,000 bill likely to have a significant impact on its bottom line. It serves as a stark reminder of the importance of thorough training and oversight for flight crew members to prevent costly errors like this from occurring in the future.

British Airways has issued a statement apologizing for the inconvenience caused to passengers and assuring that steps will be taken to prevent similar incidents from happening again. The airline has also offered affected passengers compensation in the form of vouchers or frequent flyer miles as a gesture of goodwill.

This incident serves as a cautionary tale for airlines to ensure that their crew members are properly trained and equipped to handle all aspects of their jobs to avoid costly mistakes that can harm both the airline’s reputation and its finances.
