Denver Broncos’ Bo Nix ‘Jealous’ Of Brother Tez Johnson, Oregon Ducks’ Rose Bowl
Former Oregon Ducks quarterback Bo Nix has put the NFL on notice in his rookie season, leading the Denver Broncos to a 9-7 record and a chance to clinch a spot in the NFL Playoffs for the first time since 2015.
Nix has been busy, breaking a record seemingly every week, most recently for a beautiful deep touchdown pass vs. Cincinnati that traveled 67 “air yards” – earning the longest completion of any quarterback in the 2024 season.

Mandatory Credit: Mark J. Rebilas-Imagn Images / Mark J. Rebilas-Imagn Images Nix remains an avid Ducks supporter, as he cheers on Johnson, former teammates and coach Dan Lanning. Johnson is Oregon’s leading receiver and fresh off his best game yet in Big Ten Championship Game vs. No. 3 Penn State, catching 11 passes for a career-high 181 yards and a touchdown en route to being named the game’s MVP.
The two brothers Nix and Johnson starred for the Ducks in 2023, leading Oregon to a 12-2 overall record and a win over Liberty in the Vrbo Fiesta Bowl. A successful season by many but Oregon fell short of its ultimate goal – to compete for a National Championship in the College Football Playoff.
Now, the No. 1 Ducks will face the Ohio State Buckeyes in the iconic Rose Bowl on New Year’s Day with a chance to punch their ticket to the CFP Semifinal. The opportunity is one that Johnson does not take lightly.
“I was on the phone with Bo, and he was like, ‘I’m so jealous’… He says he’s jealous all the time. He’ll be the first one to tell you, because all he wanted to do was play in the College Football Playoff,” Johnson said.
“But now that I’m in the Rose Bowl, just showcasing it, everyone is happy for me,” Johnson continued. “I’m happy for myself, but we know we’ve got more to go. But I’ve definitely reflected on it and don’t want it to end any time soon.”
How does Johnson respond to Nix’s envy?
“I’ll be like, ‘Well, you can go win a Super Bowl. That’s better. You can go win a Super Bowl and be one of the best quarterbacks in the entire country.’”
Oregon Ducks receiver Tez Johnson Not Surprised Ohio State is Haunted by Loss / bri amaranthus Nix and the Broncos play Sunday vs. the Kansas City Chiefs in Denver in a game with massive NFL playoff implications. However, Nix is excited to watch the Oregon game on Wednesday and Johnson says he plans on attending a game soon.
“He’s very excited to watch us play,” Johnson said. “He’ll be at a game here soon. So it’s going to be electric when he comes back. I can’t wait to see him. I haven’t seen him since he got drafted.”
Johnson cheers on Nix too and admits Denver’s overtime loss to Cincinnati last Saturday had his heart pounding.
“Just texting him every day after the games. . . . Even though he had my heart going in and out of my chest for Broncos vs. Cincinnati. It’s games like that that I watch him play, and you see, wow, that kid’s still doing the same thing he’s done since a kid. So I love him to death. Can’t wait to see him. He’s my brother.”
The Ducks bring a perfect 13-0 record into “The Granddaddy of Them All,” and will look to advance to the College Football Playoff semifinals for the second time in program history.

Johnson has noticed key differences in the Buckeyes team now, compared to October.
“They play with a little bit of chip on their shoulder right now. And we see that.” Johnson said. “They’re a really good team. They’re a hot motor team. They got really good coaches behind them.”
“We play with a chip too. They’re not the only ones,” Johnson added.

Many doubt the Ducks ability to beat the Buckeyes twice in one season. If the Ducks beat the Buckeyes, they would be the first team to beat Ohio State twice in the same season since 1894.
Oregon would then advance to the College Football Playoff semifinals in Arlington, Texas, to play the winner of Arizona State vs. the Texas Longhorns at AT&T Stadium, the home of the Dallas Cowboys.
For Johnson, Wednesday will be a chance to extend his Oregon career. The receiver gets emotional as he talks about his Duck legacy. Upon arrival in Los Angeles for the game, Johnson’s girlfriend sent him a photo of his face on a Rose Bowl billboard in the City of Angels, and he said he couldn’t help but cry.
“I’m like, there’s no way I’m here right now,” Johnson said. “I literally have the Rose Bowl jacket on.”
Despite missing nearly three full games due to injury, Johnson has a chance to etch his name further into Oregon’s history. Johnson is only eight receptions away from the Oregon single-season receptions record of 86 he set in 2023.
The Rose Bowl kicks off at 2 p.m. PT on New Year’s Day.

Denver Broncos select PSU TE Tyler Warren
With the Denver Broncos having found their franchise quarterback in Bo Nix, it’s time to build around him. First stop: 2025 NFL free agency. The second stop is the 2025 NFL draft.
In his recent 2025 NFL mock draft, Ayrton Osley of USA TODAY has the Broncos are drafting Penn State tight end Tyler Warren.
Warren is having a phenomenal year, compiling 92 catches for 1,095 yards and six touchdowns, including four catches for 33 yards against SMU in the first round of the College Football Playoff.
“Denver makes it two Big Ten tight ends in a row with Warren,” Osley wrote. “The Penn State tight end is bigger than Loveland at 6-6 and 255 lbs., but his movement skills are NFL-ready. He flashed in the Big Ten with seven catches for 84 yards against Oregon. He’ll have more time to shine in the College Football Playoff but could be a different type of weapon in the passing game for the Broncos.”
The Broncos are currently focused on a playoff push, but Warren would be a great addition to Denver if the franchise pursues him during the offseason.
The Denver Broncos made a surprising move in the 2022 NFL Draft by selecting Penn State tight end Tyler Warren with the 73rd overall pick. Warren, known for his combination of size, speed, and hands, was projected to be a mid-round pick, but the Broncos saw something special in him and decided to pull the trigger.Warren will now join a Broncos team that is in need of playmakers on offense, especially at the tight end position. With his ability to make tough catches in traffic and create mismatches against linebackers and safeties, Warren could quickly become a key weapon for quarterback Drew Lock or whoever ends up under center for the Broncos.
Fans may not have expected this pick, but the Broncos clearly believe in Warren’s potential to make an impact in the NFL. Only time will tell if this gamble pays off, but for now, Broncos fans can look forward to seeing what Warren can bring to the team in the upcoming season.

The Denver Broncos are gearing up for their upcoming game against the Cincinnati Bengals, and they are preparing for wet conditions. The weather forecast for Sunday’s game is calling for rain showers throughout the day, which could have a significant impact on the game. The Broncos are no strangers to playing in adverse weather conditions, as they are used to the unpredictable weather in Denver. However, playing in wet conditions can present its own set of challenges, especially when it comes to ball control and footing on the field.
Head coach Vic Fangio has been emphasizing the importance of preparation for wet conditions in practice this week. The team has been practicing with wet footballs and working on techniques to ensure they can maintain control of the ball in slippery conditions.
Quarterback Teddy Bridgewater, who will be leading the offense against the Bengals, has been focusing on his grip and footwork to ensure he can make accurate throws despite the rain. Wide receivers and running backs have also been practicing their routes and cuts to ensure they can make sharp movements on the wet field.
Defensively, the Broncos are also preparing for the challenges of playing in wet conditions. Defensive backs are working on their footing and coverage techniques to ensure they can stay with their assignments despite the slippery field. The defensive line is also focusing on their pass rush techniques to ensure they can generate pressure on the Bengals’ quarterback.
Overall, the Broncos are taking the wet conditions seriously and are doing everything they can to prepare for Sunday’s game. With a strong focus on ball control and technique, the team is confident that they can overcome the challenges presented by the rain and come out victorious against the Bengals.
Fans can expect an exciting and hard-fought game on Sunday, as the Broncos look to secure a crucial win against a tough opponent. Despite the wet conditions, the team is ready to face whatever challenges come their way and come out on top. Let’s hope the rain doesn’t dampen the Broncos’ spirits as they look to secure a much-needed victory.

saturday.Analysis of Javonte Williams’ Injury and Its Impact on the Denver Broncos
Javonte Williams, the talented rookie running back for the Denver Broncos, suffered a knee injury during the team’s recent game against the Kansas City Chiefs. The injury occurred in the first quarter of the game, and Williams was unable to return to the field for the remainder of the match. This has raised concerns about the severity of the injury and its potential impact on the Broncos’ offense moving forward.Williams has been a key player for the Broncos this season, showing great potential as a dynamic runner and pass-catcher out of the backfield. His ability to break tackles and make defenders miss has been a valuable asset for the team, and his absence could have a significant impact on their offensive production.
The exact nature of Williams’ injury has not been disclosed by the team, but knee injuries can be particularly concerning for running backs given the physical demands of the position. If the injury is serious, it could potentially sideline Williams for an extended period of time, which would be a major blow to the Broncos’ playoff hopes.
In Williams’ absence, the Broncos will likely turn to veteran running back Melvin Gordon to handle the majority of the carries. Gordon has been a solid performer for the team this season, but he lacks the explosive playmaking ability that Williams brings to the table. The team may also look to utilize backup running backs Mike Boone and Royce Freeman to help fill the void left by Williams’ injury.
Overall, the loss of Javonte Williams could have a significant impact on the Denver Broncos’ offense. His absence will put more pressure on the team’s passing game and could limit their ability to control the clock and wear down opposing defenses. The Broncos will need to adjust their game plan and find ways to compensate for the loss of Williams if they hope to continue their push for a playoff spot in the competitive AFC West.
In conclusion, the injury to Javonte Williams is a concerning development for the Denver Broncos. The team will need to rely on their depth at the running back position and make adjustments to their offensive scheme in order to overcome his absence. Williams’ health and availability moving forward will be a key factor in the team’s success as they look to make a postseason push in the remaining weeks of the season.

Denver Broncos head coach Sean Payton acknowledged after his team’s 30-24 overtime loss to the Cincinnati Bengals at Paycor Stadium in NFL Week 17 that his team’s momentum coupled with the oppotunity to play for a tie factored into the decision not to try a 2-point conversion after Marvin Mims Jr.’s controversial touchdown catch late in the fourth quarter.
A tie Saturday would’ve given Denver the final AFC playoff spot, ending the Bengals’ playoff chances.
“We spent some time thinking about … going for 2,” Payton told reporters. “We knew a tie, though, was for us just as beneficial as a win. And we felt like we had the momentum at that point. So, look, it went back and forth, and in the end we didn’t make enough plays. They did.”
The Bengals did play the overtime period without starting running back Chase Brown, who suffered an ankle sprain during the fourth quarter.
Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow broke his own franchise single-season record for passing yardage with his 31-yard toss to Tee Higgins to set up a game-winning touchdown pass to Higgins.
In a post-game press conference, Denver Broncos head coach Sean Payton explained his decision not to go for a two-point conversion after a touchdown by wide receiver Denzel Mims against the Cincinnati Bengals.Payton cited a variety of factors that went into his decision-making process, including the score, time remaining in the game, and the overall game situation. He emphasized that he felt confident in his team’s ability to tie the game with an extra point and potentially win in overtime.
Ultimately, Payton’s decision not to go for two did not pay off, as the Broncos fell to the Bengals by a narrow margin. However, he stood by his choice and expressed his belief in the team’s ability to bounce back from this tough loss.
Fans and analysts may continue to debate the decision, but Payton’s explanation sheds light on the strategic thinking behind his coaching decisions in crucial moments of the game.

Christian McCaffrey’s Broncos Legend Dad Unhappy With Sean Payton’s Loss & Confirms Big Decision for Bo Nix’s Next Game vs Chiefs
So much went wrong with the Broncos‘ Week 17 game against the Bengals! For instance, in his first game back from injury, CB Riley Moss was exploited by Bengals receiver Tee Higgins. The latter eventually caught the game-winner in overtime. But the worst of it was Sean Payton’s decision to play for overtime rather than deciding the game on a two-point conversion. They thought they could move the ball. However, let us not forget how the Bengals missed a 33-yard field goal in overtime and the Broncos were unable to move the ball and wasted quite some time.
Then, let us not forget their self-inflicted wounds. They had seven penalties for 35 yards, while Cincinnati had three for 15 yards. The Broncos also gave up several third and longs and big plays. Even the time of possession, 26:57 for Denver, 41:56 for Cincinnati, shows the Broncos were doomed with a 24-30 loss.
Fans had plenty to say, but legendary WR Ed McCaffrey’s reaction caught the spotlight. The Broncos legend didn’t mince words and let’s just say he wasn’t thrilled with what went down.

McCaffrey kept it real as he took to X and wrote, “Great effort! Just not good enough. We need to get better at finishing drives and finishing games. I’ve decided I’m going to @Broncos WK 18 Game against the @Chiefs. Tailgate starts 2hrs before kickoff. Hope to see you there! #BroncosCountry.”
Ouch, but he has got a point!
The Broncos still have a shot at making the playoffs (a 59% chance to make the playoffs after their Week 17 loss, according to The Athletic’s playoff prediction model), but first, they have to clean up their act. This team has all the talent in the world but keeps tripping over the same issues. Missed opportunities and inconsistent play have been killing their momentum.
Great effort! Just not good enough. We need to get better at finishing drives and finishing games. I’ve decided I’m going to @Broncos WK 18 Game against the @Chiefs. Tailgate starts 2hrs before kickoff. Hope to see you there! #BroncosCountry

They need to stop stalling out in the red zone and start playing like they mean it. The Broncos’ habit of settling for field goals or coming up empty on promising drives isn’t going to cut it if they want to hang with teams like the Chiefs. Ed McCaffrey’s words weren’t just criticism, they were a wake-up call.
Here is how the Broncos clinch the NFC’s No. 7 seed:
- They win or tie against the Chiefs in Week 18.
- The Dolphins lose one of their final two games and the Bengals lose to the Steelers in Week 18.

Lessons for Denver Broncos ahead of week 18 game
The Broncos’ loss to the Bengals in Week 17 was a major L, but it also gave them some eye-openers, so they can see what they missed and use it on the Chiefs. They just couldn’t capitalize when they needed to. They were 0-1 in the red zone and couldn’t finish drives. Even worse, they didn’t turn turnovers into points—like, they forced three but only scored 13 off them. Yikes.
Bo Nix threw for 276 yards, two touchdowns, and one interception. He kept it close, but that pick came at the worst time, stalling a drive that could’ve been a game-changer. Like that could have changed the tide, Mims Jr. kept it spicy with five catches for 112 yards, including a 51-yard TD that tied it up late, but the Broncos couldn’t seal the deal.

On defense, they got shredded by Joe Burrow, who threw for 412 yards and three TDs—all caught by Tee Higgins. If the Broncos wanna make any noise against the Chiefs in Week 18, they gotta clean up their red-zone struggles and stop giving up big plays in the air.
At the end of the day, the Broncos couldn’t close it out against the Bengals. They need to get way more consistent, especially with finishing drives and keeping leads. If they wanna make a playoff push and finish strong, they better come with it next Sunday.
Former Broncos legend Ed McCaffrey, father of current Carolina Panthers star Christian McCaffrey, expressed his disappointment with the recent loss by the New Orleans Saints under head coach Sean Payton. McCaffrey, who played for the Broncos from 1995 to 2003, took to social media to share his thoughts on the game and the coaching decisions made by Payton. In his post, McCaffrey criticized Payton’s play-calling and overall strategy, stating that it was not up to par with what he expected from a seasoned coach like Payton. He also hinted at potential changes that need to be made in order for the Saints to bounce back from their recent defeat.
In addition to commenting on the Saints’ performance, McCaffrey also confirmed that a big decision will be made regarding quarterback Bo Nix’s next game against the Kansas City Chiefs. Nix, who has been under scrutiny for his inconsistent play this season, will need to step up his game in order to secure a victory against the tough Chiefs defense.
Fans of both the Broncos and Panthers will be eagerly waiting to see how these developments unfold, as McCaffrey continues to be a vocal presence in the football community. Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story.

Joe Burrow NFL MVP case NFL Week 17 Bengals beat Broncos
Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow continues to make a case for the NFL’s Most Valuable Player honor as he led his team to another win at Paycor Stadium on Saturday night.
Burrow has normalized throwing 39 completions for 412 yards and three touchdowns so much so that his performance in the Bengals’ thrilling, 30-24 overtime win over the Broncos will be overshadowed by Tee Higgins’ electric performance.
Bengals Broncos NFL playoffsWhat we learned from Bengals’ dramatic overtime win over Broncos
Without Burrow’s play in the last two months, the Bengals wouldn’t even have a chance at the postseason. But they do, and that’s why he belongs in the conversation for the MVP award. Right now, it appears to be a three-man race between three standout quarterbacks in Baltimore’s Lamar Jackson, Buffalo’s Josh Allen and Burrow.
The last time a non-NFL quarterback won the MVP was in 2006 when running back LaDainian Tomlinson won the prestigious award. Quarterbacks have won 68.5 percent of the NFL MVP awards in league history. For as much as the MVP is an individual award, it’s also a team award.
Typically, the MVP is given to the quarterback playing the best on a winning team. That’s why the Bengals not making the playoffs would hurt Burrow’s MVP campaign.
Dallas Cowboys’ defensive star Micah Parsons believes Burrow should be the MVP if the Bengals make the playoffs.
“If Joe Burrow takes this team to the playoffs, I don’t even think it should be a question who’s MVP!! Best in the world (right now),” Parsons said on X formerly known as Twitter after the Bengals’ Week 17 win.
The Bengals put themselves in a deep hole starting the season 1-3 and even were 4-8 at one point. They were all but dead in the water following the Dec. 1 loss to the Steelers but Burrow – with the help of his star wideouts – has willed the Bengals into relevancy in the playoff hunt.Given some of the Bengals’ defensive issues this year, the special teams errors and the number of one-score losses, it’s truly remarkable that Cincinnati is even in the playoff conversation. At one point in this season, one could argue that the Bengals looked closer to a team picking in the top 10 of the NFL draft than a playoff team.
But here they are with a pulse because of Burrow who now leads the NFL in passing yards, completions and touchdowns. Burrow has completed 423 passes for 4,641 yards and 42 touchdowns this season.
“I don’t know that anybody can stand on a field and watch Joe Burrow and say he’s not the best player in the world,” Bengals’ head coach Zac Taylor said of his quarterback. “The clearest thing I can say is I would not trade Joe Burrow for any player in the universe. To me, that’s MVP to me.”
After a two-year run in which he led the Bengals to a Super Bowl appearance and followed it up with another trip to the AFC championship game, Burrow put himself on the map as one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL.
Then, he suffered a serious wrist injury to his throwing hand that could have impacted his long-term career in a significant way. No other NFL quarterback has suffered that type of injury which is why there was plenty of hesitation heading into this season.
Burrow admitted he didn’t feel back to 100 percent until November which marked a year from his extensive surgical procedure. He defied the odds stacked against him once again. He’ll almost surely be voted as the NFL’s Comeback Player of the Year and depending on how the rest of the season shakes out, he could also win the MVP.
“It’s a good feeling. I put a lot of work into this to go out and play well every Sunday and when you have conversations with the opposing teams and coaches, and you see comments like that it’s a good feeling. That’s not why you do it but in a season like this, those kinds of things make you feel good, so I appreciate those.”
With one game to play in the regular season, a lot can still happen for and against Burrow. If Cincinnati is able to clinch the No. 7 seed in the AFC playoff picture, they would play the Bills on the road in the Wild Card round. This would give Burrow an opportunity to go toe-to-toe with Allen, the leading candidate to win the MVP award.
A loss in Pittsburgh would all but ruin Burrow’s MVP odds and that’s just one of the many intriguing storylines as the Bengals get ready to take on the Steelers in Week 18.
But if you ask Burrow’s favorite target, Chase, he believes his quarterback’s performance against the Broncos should make him the leader in the clubhouse for the award.
“I (have been saying) he’s the MVP since last week,” Chase said. “I think him winning this game right here got him in first place of the race,” Chase said.
Joe Burrow’s case for NFL MVP just got a major boost after leading the Cincinnati Bengals to a crucial Week 17 victory over the Denver Broncos. The young quarterback put on a show, throwing for over 300 yards and three touchdowns in the game.Burrow’s performance this season has been nothing short of spectacular, as he has consistently elevated his team and put up impressive numbers week after week. He has shown poise, leadership, and a true mastery of the game that is rare for a second-year player.
With this win, the Bengals clinched a playoff spot and Burrow solidified his status as one of the top MVP candidates in the league. His ability to make big plays in key moments and lead his team to victory is exactly what MVP voters look for in a candidate.
If Burrow can continue to perform at this level in the playoffs, there is no doubt that he will be a serious contender for the NFL MVP award. Keep an eye on Joe Burrow as he looks to make history and cement his place among the league’s elite quarterbacks.

The Chiefs have a dilemma.
They can try to knock the Broncos out of the playoffs next weekend with a win in Denver, or they can do what they typically do when the last game of the regular season means nothing to their playoff fortunes — rest the starting quarterback and other key starters.
That’s how Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes made his debut, seven years ago. The Week 17 Chiefs-Broncos game meant nothing, so Alex Smith sat and Mahomes played.
Generally speaking, no team should want to see a division rival rolling into town for a one-game, winner-take-all playoff showdown. Division rivals know their opponents well. They don’t get as intimidated as other teams might. And they’d love nothing more than to derail a special season.
The Broncos need simply to win on Sunday to get in. A loss to the Chiefs likely means Denver’s streak of no playoff appearances since winning Super Bowl 50 will extend to nine.
There’s another reason for the Chiefs to consider playing Mahomes and other key starters, if only for a quarter. With the bye secured and the extra rest from playing on Wednesday, it’ll be 24 days between games for Mahomes, Travis Kelce, etc.
What if the Broncos win on Sunday, upend the Bills in the wild-card round (which isn’t a crazy proposition) and then roll into Arrowhead in the divisional round, having played three high-stakes games since the last time Mahomes played?
Once before, the Chiefs rested Mahomes in the last game of the regular season while holding a first-round bye. And when Kansas City hosted Cleveland in the divisional round, the game was closer than expected. Would it have been without three weeks off between games for Mahomes and others?
There’s one last point. Knocking the Broncos out could open the door for the Bengals. And the Bengals have gone toe-to-toe with the Chiefs in the postseason, beating them in the 2021 AFC Championship and almost beating them in the 2022 AFC Championship.
But there’s no guarantee that the Bengals get in with a Broncos loss. They still need the Colts or Dolphins to lose at least once, and the Colts close with the Giants and Jaguars. Thus, it’s possible that both the Broncos and Bengals could be knocked out.
Which would be good for the Chiefs. And for everyone else in the 2024 playoff field.
As the Kansas City Chiefs gear up to face off against the Denver Broncos next weekend, many fans are wondering if they will try to knock out their division rival. With tensions running high and playoff implications on the line, it’s certainly a possibility. However, it’s important to remember that football is a game of skill and strategy, not violence. Let’s hope for a competitive and respectful matchup between these two AFC West teams. Stay tuned for the showdown next weekend! #Chiefs #Broncos #NFL #AFCWest
