Buccaneers promoting Josh Grizzard to offensive coordinator
In his first year as Tampa’s pass game coordinator, Grizzard played a vital role in an offense that powered the Buccaneers toward their fourth consecutive NFC South title. The unit finished third in the league in total yards per game (399.5) while also boasting the NFL’s third-best passing unit (250.4 YPG). That air attack allowed the Bucs’ ground game to flourish, too, finishing fourth in the league (149.2 YPG).
Baker Mayfield had a field day in Coen’s system and under Grizzard’s aerial direction, producing career-highs in completions (407), completion percentage (71.4), passing yards (4,500), touchdowns (41) and passer rating (106.8).
Mayfield did it all despite losing Chris Godwin to a season-ending ankle injury and Mike Evans for a period of time, indicating the great job done by the staff and the players who needed to step up.
The Buccaneers are evidently hoping continuity maintains Mayfield’s resurgence in Tampa, and they will now hand the keys over to a 34-year-old coach.
Grizzard spent seven seasons with the Miami Dolphins before his first year with the Bucs, serving as a quality control coach before taking over the wide receiver room. He played defensive back at Yale for three seasons before ending his collegiate career as a student coaching assistant.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have announced that they are promoting Josh Grizzard to the position of offensive coordinator. Grizzard, who has been with the team for several years, has proven himself to be a valuable asset to the coaching staff. In his new role, Grizzard will be responsible for overseeing the team’s offensive game plan and play calling. His knowledge of the game and innovative approach to coaching make him the perfect candidate for the job.
Head coach Bruce Arians expressed his confidence in Grizzard’s abilities, stating, “Josh has been an integral part of our coaching staff and has shown a great understanding of the game. I have no doubt that he will excel in his new role as offensive coordinator.”
Fans are excited to see what Grizzard will bring to the table and are looking forward to a successful season under his leadership. Congratulations to Josh Grizzard on his well-deserved promotion! #GoBucs #Buccaneers #JoshGrizzard #OffensiveCoordinator

Buccaneers to promote Josh Grizzard to offensive coordinator
The Buccaneers are keeping things in-house for their next offensive coordinator.
Tampa Bay is promoting passing game coordinator Josh Grizzard to the position, according to a report from NFL Media.
Grizzard, 34, joined the Bucs last offseason after spending 2017-2023 with the Dolphins, working as a quality control coach and receivers coach for the franchise.
He came to Tampa Bay with former offensive coordinator Liam Coen a year ago, helping the club finish No. 3 in total yards and No. 4 in points. The team’s offense was No. 3 with 4,257 passing yards and No. 2 with 41 passing touchdowns.
Promoting Grizzard will keep some continuity on the staff after another offensive coordinator departed the franchise after just one year. Tampa Bay lost Dave Canales after the 2023 season as he was hired to coach the Panthers. Now, Coen has departed the franchise to coach the Jaguars.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have announced that they will be promoting Josh Grizzard to the position of offensive coordinator for the upcoming season. Grizzard has been with the Buccaneers organization for several years and has proven himself to be a valuable asset to the team.As offensive coordinator, Grizzard will be responsible for overseeing the team’s offensive strategy and play-calling. He has a deep understanding of the game and a keen eye for developing innovative and effective game plans. With his leadership and expertise, the Buccaneers are confident that their offense will continue to thrive and excel in the upcoming season.
Join us in congratulating Josh Grizzard on his well-deserved promotion to offensive coordinator. We can’t wait to see the exciting and dynamic plays he will bring to the field this season! #GoBucs #JoshGrizzard #OffensiveCoordinator

Buccaneers promote Josh Grizzard to offensive coordinator after losing Liam Coen to Jaguars, per report

For the third time in as many years, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers were forced to search for a new offensive coordinator. This time, however, they are reportedly promoting from within.
The Buccaneers are promoting former pass-game coordinator Josh Grizzard to offensive coordinator, according to NFL Media. Grizzard replaces Liam Coen, who accepted the Jacksonville Jaguars head coaching job last week. The 34-year-old Grizzard just wrapped up his first season with the Buccaneers, and is reportedly highly regarded in the building.
2025 NFL free agency: Potential top players available at every position, including Sam Darnold, Tee Higgins
Garrett Podell
Grizzard graduated from Yale in 2012, and began his coaching career in New Haven as a student assistant. He then joined the Duke Blue Devils as a grad assistant, and after four seasons, landed with the Miami Dolphins as an offensive quality control coach. Grizzard also coached the wide receivers down in Miami before being hired away by Tampa Bay.
The 10-7 Buccaneers won the NFC South in 2024 for a fourth consecutive season. The offense ranked No. 3 in total yards (399.5 yards per game), and No. 4 in points per game (29.5), while quarterback Baker Mayfield became just the third quarterback to ever throw for 4,500 yards and 40 touchdowns while completing 70% of his passes. He put up career-high numbers across the board with 4,500 passing yards and 41 touchdowns, but did tie the league high with 16 interceptions.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have reportedly promoted Josh Grizzard to offensive coordinator following the departure of Liam Coen to the Jacksonville Jaguars. Grizzard, who previously served as the team’s quarterbacks coach, is set to take on a larger role in guiding the Buccaneers’ high-powered offense. With quarterback Tom Brady at the helm and a host of talented playmakers at his disposal, Grizzard will have plenty to work with as he steps into his new role. The Buccaneers are coming off a Super Bowl victory and will look to maintain their offensive prowess under Grizzard’s leadership.
While losing Coen to the Jaguars is certainly a blow, the Buccaneers are confident that Grizzard is more than capable of stepping up and continuing to push their offense to new heights. Fans will surely be eager to see how Grizzard puts his stamp on the team’s offense in the upcoming season.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers WR Mike Evans Named To 2025 Pro Bowl
Mike Evans is headed to his sixth career Pro Bowl, further burnishing his Hall of Fame résumé.
On Monday, the NFL announced that Evans will be replacing the Dallas Cowboys’ CeeDee Lamb on the NFC roster for the 2025 Pro Bowl Games. Lamb is unable to participate due to injury. Evans joins two Tampa Bay Buccaneers teammates, tackle Tristan Wirfs and defensive lineman Vita Vea, both of whom were named as Pro Bowl selections on January 2.
Evans’ six Pro Bowl selections ties him with Bucs legend Mike Alstott for the most by an offensive player in franchise history. Only Hall of Fame defenders Derrick Brooks (11) and Warren Sapp (seven) have more. Evans has been voted into the Pro Bowl in five of the last seven seasons.
Evans’ all-star nod comes after he once again made NFL history, becoming just the second player in NFL history to gain at least 1,000 receiving yards in 11 straight seasons. He joined Hall of Famer Jerry Rice on that abbreviated list, and only Rice, with 14, has more such seasons overall. Despite missing three games and most of a fourth due to a hamstring injury, Evans caught 74 passes for 1,004 yards and 11 touchdowns.
Over 11 NFL seasons, Evans has amassed 836 receptions for 12,864 yards and 105 touchdowns. His 105 touchdown receptions rank ninth in league history and he has reached double digits in that category in six of his 11 NFL campaigns.
The 2025 Pro Bowl Games will take place in Orlando, Florida from January 30 through February 2, culminating in a flag football game.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have another reason to celebrate as wide receiver Mike Evans has been named to the 2025 Pro Bowl roster. This marks Evans’ seventh Pro Bowl selection in his career, solidifying his status as one of the top receivers in the NFL.Evans has been a key contributor to the Buccaneers’ success over the years, consistently putting up impressive numbers and making big plays when it matters most. His combination of size, speed, and hands have made him a nightmare for opposing defenses and a favorite target for quarterback Tom Brady.
Fans can look forward to seeing Evans showcase his skills against the best of the best in the Pro Bowl, where he will undoubtedly put on a show and represent the Buccaneers with pride. Congratulations to Mike Evans on this well-deserved honor! #GoBucs #ProBowlBound

Raiders free agency 2025: Buccaneers fits for John Spytek
Now that John Spytek is set as the new general manager of the Las Vegas Raiders, he is next focused on NFL free agency.
Like many GM’s who go to a new team, Spytek may targets from players from his former team, which, of course, was the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Spytek was with the Buccaneers since 2016 and was the assistant general manager the past two years.
Let’s look at some players who were with Spytek in Tampa Bay who could fit the Raiders in free agency:
Wide receiver Chris Godwin:
This is someone to watch. Even though he is coming off a season-ending ankle injury, Godwin is one of the top players available at his position. He could be a good fit with Jakobi Meyers as a starting wide receiver. Both players have excellent drop rates and could be a good pair. Also, Raiders’ part owner Tom Brady played with Godwin and thinks highly of him.
Cornerback Carlton Davis:
The Buccaneers traded Davis to the Detroit L:ions last year. The Raiders could use a veteran presence like Davis in their secondary.
Linebacker Lavonte David:
David is probably a Buccaneer life, but surely Spytek and Brady would love to see him in the Silver and Black. He is slowing down as he’s entering his 14th NFL season, but he would be of value to the Raiders.
Guard Ben Bredeson:
He started every game for the Buccaneers in his only season there. The Raiders could look for help at the position and Bredeson could be a nice, affordable addition.
Linebacker Joe Tyron-Shoyinka:
He’s a solid pass-rusher who has 15 sacks in four seasons. he could be a decent rotational addition.
Quarterback Kyle Trask:
He was a second-round pick in 2021. He’s played very little, but Spytek could look to bring him in as a backup.
Linebacker K.J. Britt:
He started 11 games and had 72 tackles in 2024.
Linebacker Anthony Nelson:
He’s a solid rotational player who has a nose for the ball.
In the 2025 NFL free agency period, the Las Vegas Raiders’ Assistant General Manager, John Spytek, is rumored to be a potential target for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Spytek, known for his keen eye for talent and strong player evaluation skills, could be a valuable addition to the Buccaneers’ front office. The Buccaneers, coming off a successful season and looking to maintain their competitive edge, could benefit from Spytek’s expertise in building a championship-caliber roster. With his experience in player personnel and scouting, Spytek could play a crucial role in helping the Buccaneers make strategic roster moves to bolster their chances of contending for another Super Bowl title.
While nothing has been confirmed yet, the potential pairing of Spytek with the Buccaneers is certainly an intriguing possibility to keep an eye on as free agency unfolds. Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story. #Raiders #Buccaneers #FreeAgency #JohnSpytek

Lions to interview Buccaneers assistant, former Michigan standout for DC role
After losing Aaron Glenn and Terrell Williams, the Detroit Lions have holes to fill on their defensive staff and are reportedly going shopping in Central Florida.
The Lions are expected to interview Buccaneers inside linebackers coach and former Michigan standout Larry Foote for their vacant defensive coordinator role.
The news was first reported by Fox Sports’ Jordan Schultz.
Several hours prior, the Lions agreed to terms with Tampa Bay Buccaneers run game coordinator and defensive line coach Kacy Rodgers to fill their vacant defensive line coach position, left by Williams departing for the DC role with the New England Patriots.
RELATED: Report: Lions hire Buccaneers assistant as new DL coach
The 44-year-old Foote has spent the last six seasons in Tampa Bay, serving under Bruce Arians and Todd Bowles respective staffs as outside linebackers coach (2019-2021) and pass game coordinator & inside linebackers coach (2022-present).
Before heading to Tampa Bay, Foote worked on Arians’ staff with the Arizona Cardinals as assistant linebackers coach in 2015 before being promoted to linebackers coach in 2016.
If the Lions hire Foote, it would not only be a homecoming for the Detroit native but also a return to the franchise.
Foote played one season for the Lions in 2009, recording 99 tackles — 11 for loss — four quarterback hits, four pass deflections, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery.
“Being from Detroit and playing a year there, that stadium was a special place,” Foote said in a press conference last September ahead the Lions-Buccaneers Week 2 matchup. “I’m looking forward to going back there and being in that environment.”
RELATED: Larry Foote returns to Detroit with respect for his hometown team
According to Rick Stroud, Buccaneers beat writer for the Tampa Bay Times, Foote’s contract has expired, and the franchise had intended to bring him back.
Foote was a standout linebacker during his time at the University of Michigan from 1999 to 2001. In the NFL, he was a two-time Super Bowl champion with the Pittsburgh Steelers. If he lands in Detroit, he would also reunite with former Steelers teammate Antwaan Randle El, who serves as the Lions’ wide receivers coach.
Foote is the first reported interview for the Lions’ defensive coordinator vacancy since Aaron Glenn left the role to become the New York Jets’ new head coach.

The Detroit Lions are set to interview Tampa Bay Buccaneers assistant and former Michigan standout, Todd Bowles, for their defensive coordinator role. Bowles, who has served as the defensive coordinator for the New York Jets and Arizona Cardinals, is known for his aggressive and innovative defensive schemes. The Lions are looking to revamp their defense after a disappointing season and believe that Bowles could be the right man for the job. With his experience and track record of success, Bowles could bring a much-needed spark to the Lions’ defense.
