Michael Page barely needed five minutes to figure out “Shara Bullet.”
The UFC Saudi Arabia co-main event saw Page hand Shara Magomedov his first loss as he put together a complete three-round performance that had the previously unbeaten fighter looking puzzled as to how to approach Page. “MVP” added yet another striking clinic to a career full of them and later told reporters that he knew the game was in hand after a few exchanges in the opening round.
“Before even the end of Round 1, I knew he was never going to do anything to beat me because he was only going to want to strike,” Page said at the event’s post-fight press conference. “I still feel like I was just a little bit too hesitant. Straightaway, I could feel that he was second-guessing a lot of himself, so I knew I was going to take that fight.”

He is an exceptional fighter, but the reason I called him out is because for me, with my experience, years and years of experience, I’ve seen that style before and I knew what I could do with that style, which is why he didn’t look as impressive today.
“Does it take anything away from him? No, I would never say that guy’s not a good fighter. He’s amazing.”
As pleased as Page is with his latest performance, he’s still yet to find a finish in three UFC appearances. During his run with Bellator from 2014-2023, Page developed a reputation for highlight-reel finishes accompanied by viral celebrations.
Page admitted his time in the UFC has proven more challenging than expected, but that fans will see him back in finishing form soon.
“I didn’t think this at the beginning, but I’m starting to think it a bit more now, there is an effect of being in the UFC,” Page said. “The magnitude of UFC brand, the event, I think that’s what’s kind of still weighing on me a little bit and it’s making me a little bit more hesitant whereas before, when I was at Bellator, there was no hesitation. I was in there, I was very sure of myself. I don’t know if it’s I’m wanting it too much, I’m second-guessing myself, I don’t know what it is, but there is definitely a UFC effect. But the more comfortable I get, the more you’re going to see the old ‘MVP.’”

“When I said it, I wasn’t talking about who was going to do it first,” Page clarified during his media day time. “I was simply saying he would. I can make him do it.”
“I’m happy to shoot a takedown. This is an MMA game,” he continued. “So, I’m happy to do it. I’ve been working on that area, but I don’t feel like I’ll need to. There’s a difference. I may get to a point where I feel like it may be worth draining him out on the floor a little bit, landing some shots, elbows on the floor. So I may do that, but I don’t think I’m going to need to.”
“Whereas, if he shoots a takedown, it’ll be for a completely different reason. If I do it, it’s just part of my game plan. If he does it, he’s in danger. That’s the difference.”

In the immediate wake of Johnson opting to pick the Bears over the Jaguars and Raiders, there was an outpour of disappointment from the Jaguars’ fan base. But is missing out on Johnson truly the end of the world when it comes to the Jaguars’ future success?
In short, no.
Johnson is an elite coach candidate; this much can’t be argued. He has led a top-5 offense for three years in a row, is an expert play-caller and game-planner, and had people believing an average quarterback like Jared Goff was a genuine MVP candidate.
Johnson has the goods as a candidate, and that is a big reason why the Jaguars, Raiders and Bears were all in pursuit of him once the Lions were unexpectly knocked out of the playoffs over the weekend.
With that said, Johnson is not the only coach on the market who can help turn around the Jaguars. The Jaguars have spoken with plenty of qualified candidates up to this point, and the chances remain high the Jaguars will be able to find a head coach who can help pave the way for success.
Johnson may have been the top option, but there is something to be said about a coach who has never once been a head coach making demands. While we have heard no indication that Johnson’s camp directly asked for the removal of general manager Trent Baalke, it is fair to wonder if a first-time head coach should be looking to make major power plays or demanding one of the richest coach salaries in the NFL.
Johnson very well could find success with the Bears early on, but by him taking a job without ever taking a second interview with any team it does look like his decision was potentially one made in haste.
Johnson is a good coach and the Jaguars were certainly impressed by him. But as things stand today, the sky is not yet falling in Northeast Florida. We will see if that remains true.

NAGOYA (Kyodo) — Bullet train services between Tokyo and Osaka were temporarily halted Friday after a fire broke out near a track in central Japan, according to JR Central.
The fire occurred in an area between Nagoya and Gifu-Hashima stations on the Tokaido Shinkansen Line, but it was extinguished by firefighters, the railway operator said. An emergency call reporting that “grass was on fire” was made at around 11:45 a.m.
The incident led shinkansen services between Tokyo and Shin-Osaka stations to be suspended to ensure safety.

Antioch roadway littered with bullet casings after drive-by shooting
(KRON) — Dozens of bullet casings were found after the Antioch Police Department responded to multiple 911 calls of a drive-by shooting on Monday evening, according to authorities. Five unoccupied vehicles and a donut shop were struck by the gunfire.
Police responded at 6:37 p.m. to the 1000 block of St. Francis Drive after receiving multiple reports of shots being fired near the intersection of Contra Loma Boulevard. Arriving officers found no gunshot victims at the scene, Antioch PD said. Approximately 53 expended shell casings were located scattered in the roadway.
(KRON4) After canvassing the area, officers found the south side of Peter Piper Donuts, located at 2719 Contra Loma Blvd., was struck by gunfire. Three unoccupied vehicles in the business’s parking lot were also hit by bullets, police said. On St. Francis Dr., two additional unoccupied vehicles were hit by gunfire.
