The next season of MultiVersus will be the crossover fighting game’s last. Warner Bros. Games announced Friday that development on MultiVersus is ending, and that the game will go offline on May 30, the day that the upcoming season 5 comes to a close.
MultiVersus will remain playable offline, the publisher said, both locally and against AI opponents. The game will no longer be available to download as of May 30 at 9 a.m. PDT. Warner Bros. Games has already ended real-money transactions for the game, meaning players can no longer purchase the premium currency Gleamium.
Season 5 of MultiVersus will bring two new playable characters to the roster: DC’s Aquaman and Looney Tunes’ Lola Bunny. WB Games said that all season 5 content, including the two new characters, are earnable through gameplay. The fifth and final season of MultiVersus will kick off on Feb. 4.
“[We] want to thank every player and person who has ever played or supported MultiVersus,” WB Games said in a statement. “All of us on the Player First Games and Warner Bros. Games teams have poured our heart and soul into this game. We will be forever grateful for the incredible support of the MultiVersus community throughout this journey.”
MultiVersus was originally released in July 2022, in what Warner Bros. and Player First referred to as an open beta. About a year later, the publisher and developer took MultiVersus offline to retool the game’s netcode, matchmaking, and progression system, while also developing new characters, maps, and modes to boost the cadence of new content. MultiVersus was relaunched in May 2024 with a long list of changes and new characters. But some of those changes didn’t land with players, and after two initially strong launches, interest in the game appears to have cratered, according to data from Steam Charts and Twitch viewership.
When season 5 comes to a close, MultiVersus will feature 35 playable characters from a wide variety of film, television, and comic book franchises. The Smash Bros.-inspired fighting game’s roster includes characters like Batman, Superman, Rick and Morty, Scooby Doo’s Shaggy and Velma, and Tom and Jerry. Since returning in 2024, MultiVersus’ developers have added Friday the 13th’s Jason Voorhees, The Matrix’s Agent Smith, the Powerpuff Girls, Beetlejuice, and more.
MultiVersus is free to play and will be available to download on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Windows PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
It is with a heavy heart that we must announce the cancellation of MultiVersus, our beloved multiplayer online game. After much deliberation and consideration, we have made the difficult decision to shut down the game permanently. We want to express our deepest gratitude to all of our players who have supported us throughout the years. Your dedication and passion for the game have meant the world to us, and we are truly grateful for the time we have spent together in the MultiVersus universe.
Unfortunately, the decision to take MultiVersus offline was not made lightly. Despite our best efforts, we have faced numerous challenges that have made it impossible for us to continue development and support for the game.
MultiVersus will officially go offline on May 1st, so we encourage all players to make the most of the time we have left together in the game. We want to thank you all once again for your support and understanding during this difficult time.
We hope that you will carry the memories and experiences from MultiVersus with you as you move forward, and we thank you for being a part of our community. Farewell, and may your adventures in gaming continue on in new and exciting ways.

Why Marsai Martin can’t discuss her canceled Disney show ‘Saturdays’ without getting emotional
When Marsai Martin launched her own series on the Disney Channel and Disney + in 2023 — and when it was canceled within the same year — she learned firsthand just how challenging it can be for Black-led shows to survive.
During a recent appearance on Keke Palmer’s “Baby, This is Keke Palmer” podcast, the 20-year-old actress discussed what happened to the short-lived show “Saturdays.”
“Girl, only God knows,” the “Black-ish” alum said initially when Palmer asked her what happened to the series, which debuted on the network in March 2023 with six episodes before it was canceled.
“I think it’s because they never really know how to promote Black television or films,” Martin continued, adding, “It just kind of got overshadowed with a bunch of other projects in the lineup.”
The show, executive produced by Martin along with Norman Vance, Jr., Nicole Dow, and Martin’s parents, Joshua and Carol Martin, followed a Black teen girl named Paris living in Chicago with her family and friends as they all just did their best to make it to Saturday nights at their favorite roller rink. The series starred Danielle Jalade in the lead role alongside Omar Gooding, Golden Brooks, Jermaine Harris, and Daria Johns.
In 15 episodes, including a crossover with “Raven’s Home,” the show “Saturdays” quickly gained a fanbase among Black viewers and received favorable early reviews. While the “Little” star admitted she handled the cancellation well personally, she became emotional when she confessed she thought about how the cancellation could have impacted the show’s young Black stars.
“I’m like, ‘OK, it is what it is,’” she said. “We know what happened. But, you know, I think that for our Black girls, our three main leads, that for this show to be like their breakthrough, in a sense, for being seen, I can never talk about it without getting emotional.
Palmer noted it’s because “we all know what it feels like to be let down.”
Marsai Martin, the talented young actress known for her role in the hit TV show “Black-ish,” recently opened up about her canceled Disney show “Saturdays” and why she can’t discuss it without getting emotional. In a heartfelt Instagram post, Martin shared her disappointment and frustration over the show’s cancellation, revealing that it was a project she was deeply passionate about. The show, which was set to follow the lives of four middle school girls and their Saturday morning adventures, was a project close to Martin’s heart. She had been involved in the development of the show from the beginning and was excited to bring a diverse and empowering story to young viewers. However, despite her best efforts, the show was ultimately canceled before it even had a chance to air.
In her post, Martin expressed her sadness over the cancellation, explaining that the show’s message of friendship, girl power, and self-acceptance was one that she felt was important for young audiences to see. She also shared her frustration over the lack of support and resources given to the show, which ultimately led to its demise.
Despite her disappointment, Martin remains hopeful for the future and is grateful for the opportunity to have worked on the show. She is determined to continue advocating for diverse and inclusive storytelling in the industry and hopes to see more representation for young black girls on screen.
As fans of Martin, we can only hope that she will have the chance to bring her vision to life in the future and continue to inspire and empower audiences with her talent and passion.

Amber Rose stands by Trump after being ‘canceled’ for supporting him, says ‘naysayers are quiet’ now
Amber Rose is confident in her stance on President Donald Trump, who recently made his return to the Oval Office.
The actress and model, who received backlash for openly supporting Trump ahead of the presidential election, said things have quieted down now – proving the criticism was all worth it.
“During the election, I was ‘canceled,’” Rose told Maxim, as the magazine’s February cover star. “Now? All the naysayers are quiet. They see he’s already changing our country for the better.”

At the Republican National Convention this summer, Rose said she would not be silenced.
“I let go of my fear or judgment of being misunderstood, of getting attacked by the left, and I put the red hat on,” she told attendees. “The left told me to hate Trump. And even worse, to hate the other side: the people who support him.”
“All the naysayers are quiet. They see he’s already changing our country for the better.”

“Unfortunately, the ‘woke’ left cancels people for having a different ideology,” she told Maxim. “Fortunately for me, I don’t give a f— and will always stand 10 toes down until the wheels fall off, regardless of what my beliefs may be. I used to be on the left and thought I was doing the right thing. That’s why it’s so important to have open conversations.”
“On the left, there’s no objective truth. It’s only about feelings,” she stated.

“As a society, we all need to get back to reality and have these difficult conversations to bring us all back to a better place.”
Inspired by her newfound passion, Rose said politics is “maybe” in her future. “I still have a lot to learn, but I’m definitely in love with it.”

Right now, Rose said she hopes her defiance inspires others. “Be persistent and don’t take no for an answer!” she told the outlet. “The worst thing someone can say to you is no. If you’re starting off where I started, it’s only up from there. Believe in yourself!”
Amber Rose Stands by Trump After Being ‘Canceled’ for Supporting Him, Says ‘Naysayers Are Quiet’ NowAmber Rose is not backing down from her support of former President Donald Trump, despite facing backlash and being “canceled” by some in the entertainment industry. In a recent interview, the model and actress revealed that she continues to stand by Trump and his policies, and has noticed that the “naysayers are quiet” now that he is out of office.
“I’ve always been someone who speaks my mind and stands up for what I believe in, regardless of what others may think,” Rose said. “I supported Trump because I believe in his vision for America and his commitment to putting America first. And now that he is no longer in office, I have seen that the naysayers are quiet. They may have tried to cancel me, but I am still here, standing strong in my beliefs.”
Rose’s unwavering support for Trump has sparked controversy and divided opinions among her fans and followers. Some have criticized her for backing a controversial figure, while others have praised her for staying true to her convictions.
Despite the backlash, Rose remains unapologetic about her support for Trump and continues to advocate for his policies. She believes that Trump’s presidency had a positive impact on the country and is hopeful that his legacy will endure.
“I know that not everyone agrees with me, and that’s okay. But I will not be silenced or shamed for supporting someone I believe in,” Rose stated. “I stand by Trump and his vision for America, and I will continue to speak out in support of him, no matter what others may say.”
As she faces criticism and pushback for her views, Amber Rose remains steadfast in her support of Donald Trump, proving that she is not afraid to stand up for what she believes in, even in the face of adversity.

‘Frasier’ Canceled By Paramount+ After 2 Seasons, Will Be Shopped
Frasier‘s return has hit a major bump. Paramount+ has opted not to renew the Kelsey Grammer-led comedy for a third season. Producer CBS Studios remains committed to the series and plans to shop it to other outlets.
Those are not expected to include the most logical home for a multi-camera sitcom that originated on broadcast — CBS Studios’ sibling CBS. The network, which is eying a planted spinoff of The Neighborhood among other comedies in development, has no current shelf space available. Possibilities include Prime Video and Hulu, which both carry the library of Frasier‘s original run. Seasons 1 and 2 of the revival, along with the original library episodes, will remain available on Paramount+.
Paramount+ ordered Frasier to series in 2022 with James Burrows directing the first episode. Season 1 premiered a year later and Season 2 dropped in September.
Despite its well known title and Grammer reprising his popular title role, Frasier could not break through in a major way on Paramount+, which has become known as a drama destination and the home of the Taylor Sheridan and Star Trek universes.
Frasier was a lone multi-camera sitcom and one of only two original comedy series on the platform, alongside the single-camera international co-production Colin From Accounts, which is done under a different model and is looking good to continue.
Comedy — especially multi-camera sitcoms — has been harder to crack for streamers than drama, with very few multi-cam originals sticking.
The new Frasier follows Frasier Crane — a character Grammer originated on NBC’s Cheers and then reprised on the network’s spinoff Frasier — in the next chapter of his life after he returns to Boston to face new challenges, forge new relationships, and – with hope – finally fulfill an old dream or two.
The series also stars Jack Cutmore-Scott as Frasier’s son, Freddy; Nicholas Lyndhurst as Alan, Frasier’s old college buddy turned university professor; Toks Olagundoye as Olivia, Alan’s colleague and head of the university’s psychology department; Jess Salgueiro as Eve, Frasier and Freddy’s neighbor; and Anders Keith as Frasier’s nephew, David.
While the cast was comprised of new actors, there were plenty of familiar faces who made appearances including Bebe Neuwirth, reprising the role of Frasier’s ex-wife Lilith, Peri Gilpin as Roz Doyle, Dan Butler as Bob “Bulldog” Briscoe, Edward Hibbert as Gil Chesterton and Harriet Sansom Harris as Frasier’s delightfully devilish agent, Bebe Glazer. Grammer spoke to Deadline at the Emmys last January about his wish to see Shelley Long return to the role of Diane Chambers in a future season of Frasier.
David Hyde Pierce opted not to reprise the character of Niles Crane in the new spinoff series, much to the chagrin of longtime fans of the original Frasier.
The series comes from writers Chris Harris and Joe Cristalli, who executive produce with Grammer, Tom Russo and Jordan McMahon. The series is produced by CBS Studios in association with Grammer’s Grammnet NH Productions.
Frasier fans, it’s with a heavy heart that we bring you the news that the beloved sitcom has been canceled by Paramount+ after just two seasons. The news comes as a shock to many, as the show had garnered a dedicated fan base and received positive reviews. However, all hope is not lost for fans of the show. Reports have surfaced that the producers of Frasier are actively shopping the series to other networks in the hopes of finding a new home for the beloved characters. While nothing is set in stone yet, there is a glimmer of hope that we may see Frasier return to our screens in the future.
In the meantime, let’s cherish the memories we have of the witty banter and comedic genius that made Frasier such a beloved show. And who knows, with a little luck, we may just see our favorite radio psychiatrist back on our screens before we know it. Stay tuned for updates on the future of Frasier.

Grammys after-parties are canceled amid ongoing LA wildfire disaster: ‘Inappropriate’
Music’s night of nights is set to be a little quieter this year.
While the 67th annual Grammy Awards will go ahead as scheduled on Sunday, Feb. 2 at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles, pre and post-party celebrations have been canceled due to the ongoing wildfires in the city.
“It feels inappropriate to go for a booze up during these times,” a source in the music industry told Daily Mail.

AFP via Getty Images “It’s such a relief that the ceremony will take place but anything more than that just wouldn’t feel right,” the insider continued.
Universal Music Group (UMG) first announced that all its Grammy-related events would not take place as the blazes destroyed the neighborhoods of the Pacific Palisades and Altadena. UMG canceled their Artist Showcase and afterparty.
A spokesperson for the company stated: “We have canceled all of our Grammy-related events, including the Artist Showcase and After-Grammy Party and will redirect the resources that would have been used for those events to assist those affected by the wildfires.”

After sharing the cancellation of their Grammy Week events, they announced its parent company, Sony Group Corporation, was pledging $5 million to emergency relief and long-term recovery efforts.
Warner Music Group (WMG), in partnership with the Blavatnik Family Foundation Social Justice Fund, also shared they donated an initial $1 million to support local fire relief initiatives.
A WMG rep said that their efforts are focused on helping both first responders and those in the music industry affected by the fires.
BMG added: “It is with heavy hearts that we announce BMG will no longer host its Pre-Grammy Party on Tuesday, January 28.”

Harvey Mason Jr., CEO of the Recording Academy, and Tammy Hurt, chair of the academy’s board of trustees, explained their plans for Grammy Week in a statement to the public earlier this week.
“We understand how devastating this past week has been on this city and its people. This is our home, it’s home to thousands of music professionals, and many of us have been negatively impacted,” Mason begun.
“After thoughtful consideration and multiple assurances from state and local elected leaders, public safety agencies and with support from our incredible artist community, we have decided to go ahead with the Grammy telecast and some select events.”

Getty Images He continued: “This year’s show will carry a renewed sense of purpose: raising additional funds to support wildfire relief efforts and honoring the bravery and dedication of first responders who risk their lives to protect ours.”
The Recording Academy also revised its schedule, focusing on relief efforts, including having the telecast serve as a platform to raise funds for wildfire relief and showcase resilience.
But some parties are still set to take place, per the Daily Mail.
Clive Davis’s pre-Grammy party and the MusiCares gala are scheduled per usual, but each organizer has included charitable components to support victims of the fires.
The ongoing wildfire disaster in Los Angeles has forced the cancellation of several Grammys after-parties, with organizers deeming it “inappropriate” to hold celebratory events while the city is facing such devastation. The wildfires, which have been raging for days, have already forced thousands of residents to evacuate their homes and have caused widespread destruction across the region. In light of this crisis, the decision was made to cancel the after-parties that were originally planned to take place following the Grammy Awards ceremony.
Many artists and industry insiders have expressed their support for the decision, acknowledging that it would be insensitive to host lavish parties while the city is in the midst of a natural disaster. Instead, efforts are being made to raise awareness and funds for those affected by the wildfires, with many celebrities using their platforms to encourage donations and assistance for those in need.
While the cancellation of the after-parties may be disappointing for some, it serves as a reminder of the importance of prioritizing the well-being of those affected by the wildfires and coming together as a community to support one another during this challenging time.

The horror thriller series “Teacup” has been canceled at Peacock after just one season, Variety has learned.
The show was inspired by the Robert McCammon novel “Stinger.” It was originally picked up straight-to-series at the NBCUniversal-backed streaming service in 2022 and debuted in October 2024.
Per the official logline, the show followed “a disparate group of people in rural Georgia who must come together in the face of a mysterious threat in order to survive.” The lead cast for the series included Yvonne Strahovski, Scott Speedman, Chaske Spencer, Kathy Baker, Boris McGiver, Caleb Dolden, Emilie Bierre, and Luciano Leroux.
Ian McCulloch served as writer and executive producer on “Teacup.” James Wan, Michael Clear, and Rob Hackett also execuive produced via Atomic Monster along with Francisca X. Hu and Kevin Tancharoen. E.L. Katz directed the first two episodes and executive produced, while Tancharoen directed the final two. McCammon was also an executive producer. UCP was the studio.
“Teacup” did fairly well with critics upon its release, holding a 70% critical approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes. However, in her review for Variety, Aramide Tinubu wrote that it “begins as a fascinating and frightful narrative before descending into science-fiction madness that fails to stick to the landing.”
Likewise, Peacock does not typically release viewership information so one cannot gauge the kind of audience the show found, but it failed to make a dent on the Nielsen Top 10 streaming charts.
Wan and Atomic Monster, meanwhile, remain in business with Peacock. The production company is currently producing an untitled espionage drama for the streamer starring “Shang-Chi” breakout Simu Liu. The series was greenlit in February 2024 and is currently in production.
Teacup, the highly anticipated new drama series on Peacock, has been canceled after just one season. Despite its strong start and promising premise, the show failed to attract a large enough audience to justify a second season.Fans of Teacup were left disappointed by the news, as the show had garnered a dedicated following during its brief run. The series, which starred a talented ensemble cast and explored complex themes of love, power, and betrayal, was praised for its compelling storytelling and rich character development.
While the cancellation of Teacup may come as a disappointment to fans, it serves as a reminder of the competitive nature of the television industry. Despite its potential, the show ultimately failed to make a lasting impact on viewers and will now join the ranks of other one-season wonders.
As fans mourn the loss of Teacup, they can take solace in the fact that there are plenty of other great shows to explore on Peacock and other streaming platforms. And who knows – perhaps one day, Teacup will find new life and be revived for a second season. Until then, its loyal fans can cherish the memories of the show that could have been.
