The Cowboys appear to be closing in on their next offensive coordinator, but names of candidates are still being added to the mix.
Reports indicate that Arizona offensive line coach Klayton Adams is interviewing in-person at The Star on Friday. It’s the second interview for the 41-year-old, following a previous virtual conversation with the front office.
Though he has not yet been in an OC role, Adams is considered an up-and-comer within coaching circles and is thought by many to be the strong frontrunner for the job in Dallas, where newly-named head coach Brian Schottenheimer will call his own plays during games.
But a member of Dan Campbell’s staff in Detroit is also getting a look from the Cowboys, per reports. According to ESPN’s Todd Archer, the team also interviewed Lions running backs coach and assistant head coach Scottie Montgomery for the position.
According to multiple sources, the Cowboys interviewed Detroit running backs coach Scottie Montgomery for their offensive coordinator opening. Add him to list of Klayton Adams, Kevin Koger.
Montgomery, 46, worked as the Colts’ running backs coach in 2021 and 2022 after a long stint in the college ranks in various roles, including OC duties at both Maryland and Duke and three years as head coach at East Carolina.
While his name may not be one that most Cowboys fans are immediately familiar with, his former coordinator in Detroit has no doubt he’s ready for the next step in his NFL coaching journey.
“He’s got a unique perspective because he’s been in that head chair at the college level, and you feel that when you’re in the meeting room,” Ben Johnson said just last month of Montgomery, per The Detroit News. “He understands how lonely it can be at the top at times.”
Johnson now finds himself at the top in Chicago, and he believes Montgomery is on the same track.
“He’s certainly ready to call plays,” Johnson added. “He’s done that in the past. Whenever he gets that opportunity, he’ll do that. And I think he’s going to be a heck of a great head coach one day when he gets that chance.”
Under Montgomery’s tutelage, the Lions finished the 2024 season ranked sixth in the league in rushing yards and yards per carry and were tied for the second-most rushing touchdowns. The previous year, Detroit ranked fifth in the same yardage categories and were tied for league lead in ground scores.
Falcons tight ends coach Kevin Koger has also sat down with the Cowboys about their offensive coordinator vacancy. Additionally, former Browns and Bills OC Ken Dorsey was supposedly drawing interest from the Dallas front office, but no interview with him has been made public.
The Dallas Cowboys are moving quickly to fill their offensive coordinator position, as a second interview has been scheduled for the frontrunner candidate. However, a new candidate has emerged as a potential contender for the role.
Stay tuned for updates as the Cowboys continue their search for their next offensive coordinator. Who will ultimately land the coveted position? Only time will tell. #DallasCowboys #OCSearch #NFLNews
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers announced on Wednesday morning that they have completed their first internal interview with Pass Game Coordinator Josh Grizzard for their open offensive coordinator role. The Bucs have met virtually with several potential replacements for Liam Coen, who was named the Jacksonville Jaguars’ new head coach last Friday. Grizzard becomes the first in-person interview of the search process.
Grizzard entered his first year with the Bucs in 2024, joining Todd Bowles’ staff as pass game coordinator. Prior to his arrival in Tampa Bay, Grizzard spent seven years with the Miami Dolphins where he served as a quality control coach (2017-19, 2022-23) and wide receivers coach (2020-21). Grizzard contributed to an offense that finished the 2023 season ranked first in yards per game (401.3), passing yards per game (265.5) and yards per carry (5.1), while ranking second in yards per play (6.5), net yards per pass attempt (8.0) and points scored per game (29.2). During his time as Miami’s wide receivers coach, Grizzard worked closely with Jaylen Waddle, who established the NFL’s then-rookie-reception record in 2021 with 104 receptions for a franchise-rookie-record 1,015 receiving yards.
Previously, Grizzard worked as a graduate assistant/quality control coach for Duke University (2013-16) where he coached current New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones. Grizzard helped the Blue Devils to their best three-year stretch (2013-15) in school history, which included 27 wins, an ACC Coastal division title and three consecutive bowl appearances.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have reportedly interviewed internal candidate Josh Grizzard for the vacant offensive coordinator position. Grizzard, who currently serves as the team’s quarterbacks coach, is seen as a strong candidate to take over the role after the departure of former OC Byron Leftwich.
Grizzard has been with the Buccaneers organization since 2019 and has worked closely with star quarterback Tom Brady during his time with the team. His knowledge of the offense and strong relationship with the players make him a natural fit for the position.
It will be interesting to see if Grizzard ultimately lands the job and how he will bring his own unique touch to the Buccaneers’ high-powered offense. Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story.
GREEN BAY – The Green Bay Packers will know soon whether they must replace highly regarded run game coordinator and linebackers coach Anthony Campanile, who has emerged as a leading candidate to become Jacksonville‘s defensive coordinator.
Two sources said Campanile’s chances of landing the job have risen considerably since he interviewed with new head coach Liam Coen on Tuesday. He is one of four candidates known to have interviewed for the job, one of whom — Las Vegas assistant Patrick Graham — has dropped out.
The job isn’t Campanile’s yet, and if offered the job, he would have to decide if it’s a good career move.
Packers linebackers coach and running game coordinator Anthony Campanile works with rookie Edgerrin Cooper during training camp in 2024.
Packers defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley and Campanile are good friends, and it’s likely Campanile would be a candidate for the Packers’ defensive coordinator position if Hafley were able to land a head coaching job. Hafley interviewed for the New York Jets job this offseason and should be in heavy demand next year if the Packers’ defense plays like it did the second half of the season.
Campanile was a key hire for Packers head coach Matt LaFleur and Hafley last year and played a big role in helping Hafley turn the culture around on defense. The high-energy Campanile was key in developing rookie linebacker Edgerrin Cooper into a starter and grooming veteran Quay Walker for a vital role in the defense.
Cooper was twice named NFC Defensive Rookie of the Week and NFC Defensive Rookie of the Month in December/January and Walker improved considerably after a slow start playing a new scheme in his third season. Veteran Eric Wilson also thrived in the middle when Walker was sidelined with an ankle injury and Isaiah McDuffie played multiple positions throughout the year.
Campanile will be a hard assistant to replace, especially given the competition among new head coaches trying to fill out their staffs. However, Hafley brought linebackers coach Sean Duggan with him from Boston College, and after spending a year assisting Campanile, he would be a solid replacement.
The Packers are hiring former Patriots defensive coordinator DeMarcus Covington to coach the defensive line.
DeMarcus Covington will coach the defensive line
A move LaFleur is expected to make with his staff is hiring New England Patriots defensive coordinator DeMarcus Covington, who would replace fired defensive line coach Jason Rebrovich, a source confirmed. A contract hasn’t been signed and it might be a while before the move is announced, the source said.
Covington served as a coaching assistant (2017-19), outside linebackers (2019) and defensive line coach (2020-’23) under former Patriots coach Bill Belichick and was promoted to defensive coordinator by head coach Jerod Mayo at the start of last season.
ESPN.com was first to report Covington’s impending hiring.
Mayo was fired after just one season and his replacement, Mike Vrabel, did not retain Covington.
The Patriots’ defense was a disappointment last year, allowing 343.4 yards a game, which ranked 22nd in the NFL. Under Belichick the previous year, the defense ranked seventh. The defense dropped from 13th to 22nd in points allowed as well.
The Patriots ranked last in the NFL in sacks per pass attempt and tied for 26th in third-down efficiency.
During Belichick’s years in charge, the Patriots employed multiple fronts and schemes and so it shouldn’t be hard for Covington to adapt to Hafley’s 4-3 zone scheme.
Under Rebrovich, the Packers ranked 10th in sacks per pass attempt, but Hafley had to employ gimmicks to help get pressure on the quarterback. His preference is to rush four so he can deploy seven defenders against the pass.
The Packers’ front four did not provide as many sacks as Hafley hoped. The group accounted for 32½ of the team’s 45 sacks with end Rashan Gary leading the group with 7½. Covington’s charge will be to get more out of the unit’s best pass rushers without sacrificing the solid run defense it provided.
Covington interviewed for the Cincinnati Bengals defensive coordinator position but lost out to Lou Anarumo.
So far, LaFleur has made only a handful of moves with his staff, most of which have not been announced.
In addition to firing Rebrovich, he extended the contract of special teams coordinator Rich Bisaccia and hired Luke Getsy as a senior offensive assistant, sources told the Journal Sentinel on Monday.
One of the sources said that LaFleur was expected to hire offensive assistant Sean Mannion to replace retired quarterbacks coach Tom Clements, but that a deal had not been finalized.
Anthony Campanile a top candidate for Jaguars coordinator spot; Packers to hire DeMarcus Covington
The Jacksonville Jaguars are reportedly considering Anthony Campanile as a top candidate for their defensive coordinator position. Campanile, who currently serves as the linebackers coach for the New England Patriots, is highly regarded for his defensive acumen and ability to develop players.
Campanile has a strong track record of success in the NFL, having worked with some of the league’s top defenses. His experience and expertise make him a prime candidate to lead the Jaguars defense to new heights.
Meanwhile, the Green Bay Packers have reportedly decided to hire DeMarcus Covington as their new defensive line coach. Covington, who previously served as the defensive line coach for the Los Angeles Rams, is known for his ability to develop and motivate players.
The Packers are hoping that Covington’s expertise will help improve their defense and make them a stronger contender in the NFC North. With his proven track record of success, Covington is sure to make a positive impact on the Packers organization.
Overall, both Campanile and Covington are talented coaches who have the potential to make a significant impact on their respective teams. It will be interesting to see how their hires play out in the upcoming NFL season.
Per a report on Sunday from Pete Sampson of the Athletic and a subsequent report from John Brice of Irish Illustrated and FootballScoop, former Rutgers head coach, and Arkansas, Ohio State, and Texas defensive coordinator Chris Ash has emerged as the top target for the Notre Dame defensive coordinator position.
Per the report from Brice, the Irish have also discussed a promotion for current defensive backs coach Mike Mickens to co-defensive coordinator alongside Ash, rewarding one of the most highly respected members of the staff following a dominant season from his unit.
Irish fans have already seen the value-add Mickens provides for the Irish on the recruiting trail since his arrival in 2021. Irish Illustrated looked back at Ash’s career on the recruiting trail to better understand his previous work.
After the recent departure of defensive coordinator Clark Lea to become the head coach at Vanderbilt, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish are in need of a new defensive leader. And one name that has quickly emerged as the top candidate for the job is Chris Ash.
Ash, a highly respected defensive mind in college football, has an impressive track record of success. He most recently served as the defensive coordinator at Texas, where he helped lead the Longhorns to a top-20 defense in his first season with the team. Prior to his time at Texas, Ash was the head coach at Rutgers and also had successful stints as a defensive coordinator at Arkansas and Wisconsin.
Known for his ability to develop players and create a strong defensive scheme, Ash would bring a wealth of experience and knowledge to the Notre Dame program. His aggressive and disciplined approach to coaching has proven to be effective at every stop along his coaching career.
With the Notre Dame defense needing a new leader to continue its success, Chris Ash is the perfect candidate for the job. His proven track record of success and ability to develop players make him the ideal choice to lead the Fighting Irish defense to new heights. Notre Dame fans should keep a close eye on the potential hiring of Chris Ash as the next defensive coordinator for their beloved team.
Aaron Glenn has been hired as the top man on the Jets’ sideline. In due time, he will start assembling his coaching staff.
Among those assistants, the top ones watched are the coordinators.
As it relates to the offense, Los Angeles Rams tight end coach and passing game coordinator Nick Caley is the name to watch.
According to KPRC2-TV, Caley is the leading candidate:
Leading candidate for #Jets offensive coordinator job is #Rams tight ends coach and passing game coordinator Nick Caley, per multiple league sources @KPRC2 That status isn’t expected to change as process continues in New York
Because of Glenn’s defensive background, his most important hire this one.
Caley, 42, was a longtime New England Patriots assistant and interview for the Jets’ OC job in 2023.
Caley joined Sean McVay’s staff in Los Angeles as a tight ends coach in 2023 before he also being given the role of passing game coordinator.
Working n the coaching staffs of Bill Belichick and Sean McVay are pretty strong resume builders.
Jets Wire will provide updates as information is made available.
The New York Jets have reportedly identified a leading candidate for their offensive coordinator job. According to sources within the organization, the team is in advanced talks with [insert name of candidate] to take over the role.

The New York Jets have made some pretty big decisions already this offseason.
New York finished the regular season and quickly went into organization-building mode. The Jets needed to fill the head coach and general manager spots after a tough 2024 season. New York already has filled both with Aaron Glenn and Darren Mougey.
With Glenn now in the mix for the Jets, one of the next steps will be filling the open coordinator roles and getting his staff together. CBS Sports’ Jonathan Jones reported that current Los Angeles Rams pass game coordinator Nick Caley currently is the “top candidate” to join Glenn’s staff.
“Rams pass game coordinator Nick Caley has been a hot name in past years, and that continues this cycle,” Jones said. “Caley, who turned down the (New England Patriots) OC job last year, is considered the top candidate to join Aaron Glenn’s staff with the Jets. He could also draw attention from the (Houston Texans).”
The fact that he shut down the Patriots last offseason should make him even more appealing to New York fans. Glenn turned down an interview with the Patriots and Caley did something similar last year by turning down their offensive coordinator job.
Caley has done a phenomenal job with the Rams’ passing offense and adding him to an offense that could feature Aaron Rodgers, Garrett Wilson, Davante Adams, and Breece Hall could be exciting. At this point, there’s a lot of question marks about Rodgers and Adams, but if they were to return and Caley were to be hired, that could be a phenomenal pairing.
According to a trusted NFL insider, the top candidate to join Aaron Glenn’s coaching staff with the Detroit Lions is none other than former Pro Bowl cornerback Antoine Winfield Sr.
Winfield, who enjoyed a successful 14-year career in the NFL, has been making a name for himself in the coaching world since retiring as a player. Known for his exceptional football IQ and leadership skills, Winfield is highly regarded by players and coaches alike.
With Glenn looking to build a strong and experienced coaching staff in Detroit, bringing in Winfield would be a major coup for the Lions. His expertise in the secondary could prove invaluable in developing the young defensive backs on the roster.
While nothing has been officially confirmed yet, all signs point to Winfield being the top candidate to join Glenn’s staff. Lions fans can only hope that this potential partnership comes to fruition and helps lead the team to success in the upcoming season.
NCIS‘ Nick Torres has not shied away from romance, and his secret girlfriend in NCIS season 22 is likely one of five women who have already appeared on the show. While romance has never been the focal point of the military police procedural, the NCIS franchise has featured several heart-throbbing romances in many tropes, including friends-to-lovers and slow-burn relationships.
Torres’ latest girlfriend has been kept a secret from the other NCIS characters, which gives the implication that his new girlfriend is known to his team and that she has appeared on NCIS before. There are several women who could have stolen his heart, but Torres has not given any hints that could reveal his partner’s identity. Even so, some clues may have offered an idea on who his new love interest is.

Ellie Bishop
Had A Tense Will-They-Won’t-They Relationship With Torres for Five Seasons
One of the likely candidates for Torres’ secret romance in NCIS season 22 is Ellie Bishop. The two shared a will-they-won’t-they relationship ever since Torres joined NCIS in season 14. After Ellie Bishop’s abrupt exit in NCIS season 18, the two never received proper closure, leaving Torres heartbroken and uninterested in dating for four years.
While Ellie Bishop, played by Emily Wickersham, has been written off of NCIS, there are two ways that she could legally be brought back.
If Bishop is Torres’ secret girlfriend, it would explain his secrecy. Bishop betrayed her team by leaking classified documents and covering it up. If she were to return to NCIS, she would need to either face a trial or keep her relationship with Torres very secretive to protect them both.

Robin Knight
Robin Was First Introduced In NCIS Season 20
Robin Knight is Jessica Knight’s younger sister and was first introduced in NCIS season 20’s Thanksgiving episode, “Turkey Trot.” She is the complete opposite of Jessica, which is what would make her relationship with Torres so intriguing. NCIS‘ showrunner, Steven D. Binder, has revealed that Nick Torres’ girlfriend has appeared on NCIS before, which means that it is likely that Robin is his new girlfriend.
Robin Knight is played by Lilan Bowden in NCIS.
Jessica and Robin have gotten closer ever since their encounter in NCIS season 20 where the latter’s ex-fiancé threatened their lives as a way of enacting revenge on the MCRT member for something she had been involved with years ago. Their closeness could have led to Robin being invited on group outings with her sister. As Jessica and Torres are close friends outside of work, it is plausible that Torres and Robin connected as friends in a group setting and became closer as time went on.
3
Sarah McGee
Sarah Appeared On NCIS During Its Earlier Seasons
Sarah McGee is Tim McGee’s younger sister, and so far, she has only appeared in one episode of NCIS season 2 and was a major character in NCIS season 4, episode 9, “Twisted Sister.” Despite barely being involved in the show, she did have the potential to date an NCIS member at the time, as Tony DiNozzo showed some interest in her during her appearance. Somehow, DiNozzo’s interest in her all those years ago could have foreshadowed a future romance between her and another MCRTmember, Torres.
Parker’s MCRT is very close, so it is reasonable to assume they have all been invited to each other’s events outside of work…
Almost 20 years later, Sarah could be considered a viable candidate for Torres’ love life in NCIS season 22. While the two have never met on screen, Sarah and Torress have likely met outside of work through McGee’s family gatherings and personal events. Parker’s MCRT is very close, so it is reasonable to assume they have all been invited to each other’s events outside of work, which would give Torres the opportunity to meet Sarah.
2
Rachel Cranston
Rachel Appeared On NCIS Before Torres’ Time On The Show
Rachel is the late Kate Todd’s older sister, and she appeared as a recurring character in NCIS seasons 8 through 11 as a psychologist. Even though NCIS‘ Kate Todd died in the season 2 finale, her sister, Rachel, did not appear on the show until several years later. Rachel and Torres may not have met on-screen, but they could have met at a work eventand developed a personal relationship from there.
NCIS season 22’s ratings aren’t looking good. Based on CBS’ history of cancelations, what are the chances that it’ll pull the plug on the procedural?
While Rachel is not related to any current members of the MCRT, Torres’ secrecy about their relationship could be attributed to their large age gap. Rachel and Torres have about a 20-year age gap, which could be why Torres has felt uncomfortable sharing the news with his team. As Torres is very close with his colleagues, it is surprising that he has not revealed his girlfriend to them yet, but the age gap could be one explanation for why he has not.
1
Grace Confalone
Grace Has Been A Recurring Character on NCIS Since Season 13
Maybe one of the most controversial candidates for Torres’ secret romance, Dr. Grace Confalone has been a recurring NCIS character for several seasons. Torres began attending therapy sessions with Grace in NCIS season 19 and has since become a much more emotionally available and well-rounded character. While Torres’ therapy sessions have not been shown since NCIS season 20, it does not mean he has stopped seeing Grace.
Torres has had such great character growth in NCIS since going to therapy, so it is likely that he is still going to weekly sessions, but to a different therapist to allow room for a romantic relationship to develop with Grace.
A relationship between Grace and Torres may be unethical if he is still attending his sessions. However, given that he has not appeared in one since season 20, it means he could very well have stopped attending Grace’s sessions to seek her out romantically instead. Torres has had such great character growth in NCIS since going to therapy, so it is likely that he is still going to weekly sessions, but to a different therapist to allow room for a romantic relationship to develop with Grace.

Agent Eleanor Bishop – Bishop has always had a close and secretive relationship with Torres, sparking rumors that there may be something more between them. Their chemistry and banter on screen make them a top contender for Torres’ secret girlfriend.
Agent Katherine "Kate" Todd – Although she was tragically killed off in earlier seasons, Kate’s return as Torres’ secret girlfriend would certainly be a shocking twist. Their shared history and undeniable chemistry would make for an interesting storyline in Season 22.
Former MCRT member Ziva David – Ziva and Torres have always had a playful and flirty dynamic, leading fans to speculate that there may be more to their relationship than meets the eye. Bringing Ziva back as Torres’ secret girlfriend would add an exciting element to the show.
Forensic Specialist Abby Sciuto – Abby and Torres have always had a close bond, with their quirky personalities complementing each other perfectly. Fans have long speculated that there may be a romantic connection between the two, making Abby a strong contender for Torres’ secret girlfriend.
Agent Jessica Knight – As the newest addition to the NCIS team, Jessica Knight has quickly become a fan favorite. Her strong personality and chemistry with Torres have sparked rumors that she may be his secret girlfriend in Season 22. Their dynamic and potential for romance would certainly make for an exciting storyline.
Sean Payton built quite the staff with the Denver Broncos.
Now other clubs are starting to poach from that staff.
So far this offseason, the Broncos have lost assistant general manager Darren Mougey to the New York Jets and tight ends coach Declan Doyle to the Chicago Bears. More departures could be on the way.
Denver’s pass game coordinator, John Morton, is a “candidate to watch” for the Detroit Lions’ offensive coordinator position, according to a report from NFL Network (via Lions Wire).
Morton, 55, previously served as a senior offensive assistant with the Lions in 2022 before joining the Broncos in 2023, so he’s familiar with Detroit. Morton has already interviewed with Dan Campbell for the Lions’ OC position, according to NFLN.
Morton could be the third staff member to leave Denver in 2025, and he might not be the last. Three teams are interested in Broncos special teams coach Chris Banjo, and clubs have also interviewed defensive coordinator Vance Joseph and executive David Shaw this offseason.
We will track all of Denver’s coaching staff developments on Broncos Wire.
It seems like the coaching carousel never stops spinning for the Denver Broncos. The latest coach to be rumored as a candidate to leave this offseason is none other than defensive coordinator Ed Donatell.
Donatell, who has been with the Broncos since 2019, has reportedly drawn interest from multiple teams looking to fill their head coaching vacancies. With the Broncos finishing the season with a disappointing 7-10 record and missing the playoffs for the sixth straight year, it’s no surprise that Donatell’s name is being thrown into the mix.
While Donatell has been instrumental in shaping the Broncos defense over the past few years, it’s unclear if he will ultimately choose to leave for a head coaching opportunity or if the Broncos will try to retain him with a promotion or extension.
Regardless of what happens, it’s just another chapter in the ongoing saga of turnover within the Broncos coaching staff. Only time will tell if Donatell will be the next to depart from Denver, but one thing is for sure – the Broncos will have some big decisions to make this offseason.

According to NFL Network’s lead league insider Ian Rapoport, Denver Broncos pass game coordinator John Morton has emerged as a candidate to watch for the Lions offensive coordinator position.
Broncos coaches and executives have been popular this offseason amongst other teams, and now we can add John Morton to that growing list. With former Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson getting the Chicago Bear head coaching job, head coach Dan Campbell is looking for his replacement. Whoever that is, they have big shoes to fill as Johnson had the Lions’ offense playing like a top offense all season long.
Morton is a 55-year-old coach who is currently the Denver Broncos pass game coordinator under head coach Sean Payton. His coaching career started back in 1998 when he became an offensive assistant for the Oakland Raiders. He was with them through the 2004 season when he became their tight end’s coach. He would spend the next season as the passing game/wide receiver’s coach for the University of San Diego before returning to the NFL in 2006 as the Saints passing game coordinator. He would go back to college a year later as USC’s passing game coordinator/wide receivers coach and eventually their offensive coordinator from 2007 through 2010. He would then return to the NFL as the 49ers‘ wide receivers coach from 2011 to 2014, go back to the Saints as their wide receivers coach from 2015 to 2016, before becoming the New York Jets offensive coordinator in 2017. A year later, he would go back to the Raiders as a Senior Offensive assistant from 2019 through 2021 before joining Dan Campbell’s staff in 2022 as a senior offensive assistant. He would then join Sean Payton’s staff in 2023 as the Broncos pass game coordinator. Now, he appears to be a top candidate to be Dan Campbell’s offensive coordinator in 2025.
Morton joins a growing list of Broncos coaches and executives who have been popular amongst other teams during this hiring cycle. Defensive Coordinator Vance Joseph interviewed with the Jets and Raiders for their head coaching positions, front office member David Shaw interviewed for multiple head coaching jobs, assistant GM Darren Mougey was hired as the New York Jets General Manager, tight ends coach Declan Doyle was hired as the Bears offensive coordinator, and now Morton is a top candidate to be the Lions offensive coordinator. Sean Payton’s coaching tree already includes the likes of Dan Campbell, Joe Lombardi, Aaron Glenn, Joe Brady, and Dennis Allen and is continuing to grow. Quarterback’s coach Davis Webb is expected to receive interest this year or next year while DB’s coach Jim Leonhard could as well.
I would expect more Broncos coaches to get more looks from other teams as these newly hired coaches begin to assemble their coaching staffs.
According to recent reports, the Detroit Lions are eyeing up Denver Broncos pass game coordinator, Klint Kubiak, as a potential candidate for their vacant offensive coordinator position. Kubiak, the son of former NFL head coach Gary Kubiak, has been instrumental in the development of the Broncos’ passing game this season.
With the Lions looking to revamp their offense and maximize the potential of quarterback Jared Goff, Kubiak’s innovative play-calling and strategic approach could be a perfect fit for the team. Known for his ability to create mismatches and exploit defenses, Kubiak could bring a fresh perspective to the Lions’ offense and help elevate their performance on the field.
While nothing is set in stone yet, Kubiak’s emergence as a candidate to watch for the Lions offensive coordinator job is certainly something to keep an eye on. Stay tuned for further updates as the team continues their search for the right fit to lead their offense in the upcoming season.
While several chip stocks had convincing performances in 2024, Intel(NASDAQ: INTC) and Advanced Micro Devices(NASDAQ: AMD) were not among them. Intel shares fell about 60% last year, while AMD shares were down about 18%.
Let’s examine which semiconductor stock looks like the better rebound candidate in 2025.
In a semiconductor market largely being driven by artificial intelligence (AI), Intel and AMD have largely been afterthoughts. AMD is the distant No. 2 designer of graphic processing units (GPUs) behind market leader Nvidia. Intel’s market share in GPUs, meanwhile, has dropped to zero, although it wasn’t a far fall, with the company having just a 2% market share in PC graphics cards in 2023.
AMD has struggled against Nvidia, largely due to its inferior software. In a recent study, SemiAnalysis called AMD’s out-of-the-box GPUs “unusable” for AI training, noting it needed “multiple teams of AMD engineers” to help it fix software bugs. However, AMD has been able to carve out a niche in AI inference, with SemiAnalysis saying its customers typically use AMD’s GPUs for narrow, well-defined inference use cases.
Nonetheless, AMD has been able to see strong data center growth, albeit not nearly at the same scale as Nvidia. Last quarter, it saw its data center revenue surge 122% year over year and 25% sequentially to $3.5 billion. The company credited both its Instinct GPUs and EPYC central processing units (CPUs) for the jump in sales.
CPUs act as the brain of a computer, while GPUs have superior processing power. While there is a lot of deserved attention on GPUs, AMD has been doing a good jump in the CPU market, noting that it has been taking share in the CPU server market while it also has been doing well in the PC market.
Overall, AMD saw its Q3 revenue climb 18% to $6.8 billion and its adjusted EPS jump 31% to $0.92. So the company has still been growing nicely despite the dip in its stock price.
Intel, on the other hand, saw its revenue decline last quarter by 6% to $13.3 billion, and its adjusted EPS flip to a loss of -$0.46 versus a profit of $0.41 a year ago. The one bright spot last quarter was its data center and AI segment, which saw revenue rise 9% to $3.3 billion. However, when compared to Nvidia and AMD, that is a very modest gain in this segment.
Meanwhile, its largest segment, Client Computing, saw its revenue drop 7% to $7.3 billion. By comparison, AMD saw its Client segment revenue surge 29% last quarter to $1.9 billion, showing it’s making some inroads on Intel’s primary PC business.
Perhaps Intel’s biggest woes, though, stem from its Foundry segment, which has been a big drag on its results. The company has poured money into this business through capital expenditures (capex), building out new manufacturing facilities. However, the segment has been a consistently large money loser, including reporting a $5.8 billion operating loss last quarter, or $2.7 billion when excluding a noncash impairment charge.
Following the exit of its CEO Pat Gelsinger, Intel has said it could look to spin off its foundry business. The business recently received $7.86 billion in direct funding and a 25% investment tax credit from the government to continue to build out its manufacturing footprint in the U.S.
From a valuation perspective, Intel is the cheaper stock, trading at a forward price-to-earnings ratio (P/E) of 12.6 times versus 17.6 times for AMD.
However, if you separately value Intel’s core business and its foundry business, its valuation is even more attractive.
Intel’s foundry business has been losing lots of money, but it also has a lot of physical assets. Intel has spent $68.5 billion in capex, mostly on the foundry business, since the end of 2021 and has $104 billion in physical assets on its balance sheet. If you take just its recent capex spending and subtract out its $26 billion in net debt, its foundry business would be worth about $10 per share on 4.3 billion in shares. It also owns an 88% stake in Mobileye, which is worth about $11.4 billion, or $2.66 per Intel share.
As such, it is no surprise that the company has been the subject of takeover rumors. There are a lot of hidden physical assets not reflected in its share price, not to mention the government’s direct funding and tax incentive.
AMD, meanwhile, has certainly been the stronger of the two businesses, although it hasn’t gotten the investor respect it may deserve. If more AI infrastructure turns toward AI inference, it could be in a good place. Meanwhile, investors shouldn’t overlook its CPU business, which has been gaining share both in data centers and PCs.
I like both stock as turnaround candidates this year. I like Intel slightly more because of the deep value I think is still in the stock. However, AMD also looks like a solid rebound candidate. Fortunately, investors don’t have to choose and can add both stocks to their portfolios if they choose.

When it comes to investing in the semiconductor industry, two major players stand out: AMD and Intel. Both companies have seen their stocks fluctuate over the years, but which one is the better turnaround candidate for investors looking to capitalize on the growing demand for computer chips?
AMD has been making waves in the semiconductor industry with its Ryzen processors, which have been gaining market share and receiving positive reviews from consumers and tech experts alike. The company’s stock has also been on the rise, with a strong performance in recent quarters and a bullish outlook for the future.
On the other hand, Intel has faced some challenges in recent years, including delays in its chip manufacturing process and increased competition from AMD and other rivals. However, the company has been taking steps to turn things around, including investing in new technologies and reorganizing its business units.
So, which company is the better bet for investors looking to capitalize on the semiconductor industry’s growth potential? While both AMD and Intel have their strengths and weaknesses, many analysts believe that AMD may be the better turnaround candidate at this time. With its innovative products and strong performance in recent quarters, AMD appears to be in a better position to capitalize on the growing demand for computer chips.
Ultimately, the decision of whether to invest in AMD or Intel stock will depend on your own investment goals and risk tolerance. Both companies have the potential for growth in the semiconductor industry, but AMD may be the better bet for investors looking for a turnaround candidate with strong upside potential.
