When Drew Carey took on hosting duties for one of the best TV game shows back in the summer of 2007, it was a big deal indeed. He has since successfully made it nearly two decades into hosting The Price is Right, and his sign-off developed along with everything else. Now, the CBS game show host has revealed the sweet reason why he leaves viewers at the end of every episode with the words, ‘I love you.’

Carey sat down with US Weekly for a conversation that addressed how he’s dealt with Amie Harwick’s death (his former fiancée), as well as an impending milestone for The Price is Right. While talking about the upcoming 10,000th episode airing later in February, the former Whose Line is it Anyway host was asked about his affectionate parting message, and he shared that he thinks it’s an important message to share with others and should be as common as any other greeting. In his words:

I say it to everybody. I think it should be as common as saying ‘hello’ and ‘goodbye.’ I text my female friends with a heart, I tell ’em I love ’em. And I tell their husbands and kids [the same thing]. There’s nothing wrong with spreading love and saying ‘I love you’ to people.

Learning the native Clevelander’s common usage behind the caring phrase in professional and personal contexts makes sense hearing it regularly during the 2025 TV schedule program. While it can be a tricky sentence to hear or say, his thought process on its commonality is admirable.

The Drew Carey Show star then said he believes it’s incredibly important to have males saying it and hearing it more often. He also noted how essential it is to share with others because you never know what could happen. He shared:

The idea that men especially are told they’re not allowed to express love or they’re not allowed to hug because they’ll appear weak or not masculine enough is ridiculous. It breaks my heart. I think it’s important to tell people you love them. It might be the last time you see them. You don’t know.

The Geppeto alum seems to know, and value, how important relaying feelings are after the 2020 Harwick tragedy. Carey has been incredibly candid about how he’s healed over the years, including forgiving Amie Harwick’s murderer, which seemingly helped enforce his belief in the important lesson in loving others. I haven’t watched the eye-logo network classic game show in years, but now, I think I may tune in to hear his caring words myself and check out the odd hosting habit Carey seems to have.

Knowing the story of why Drew Carey ends every Price is Right episode by saying, ‘I love you,’ is the wholesome 2025 content I didn’t know I needed. Check out the sign off for yourself on weekdays on CBS, with a Paramount+ subscription, or even check out the show’s non-stop channel on Pluto TV.

The Price Is Right is a beloved game show that has been entertaining audiences for decades. One of the most endearing aspects of the show is host Drew Carey’s signature sign-off, where he tells the audience “I love you” before the credits roll.

But have you ever wondered why Drew Carey chooses to end each episode with those three little words? The answer lies in a deeply personal experience from Carey’s past.

In an interview, Carey revealed that he grew up in a tumultuous household where love and affection were not freely given. As a result, Carey struggled with feelings of insecurity and loneliness throughout his childhood and into adulthood.

When Carey landed the role as host of The Price Is Right in 2007, he saw it as an opportunity to spread love and positivity to the millions of viewers tuning in each day. He wanted to create a safe and welcoming environment where people could come together and have fun, regardless of their background or circumstances.

So, Carey made the conscious decision to end each episode with a heartfelt declaration of love, as a way to remind both himself and the audience that love is a powerful force that can bring people together, heal wounds, and make the world a better place.

Next time you watch The Price Is Right and hear Drew Carey say “I love you,” remember the story behind those words and the message of love and acceptance that he is spreading to viewers around the world.

  • Carey Hart Says His ‘Special Forces’ Injury Was His Fault, Reveals Wife Pink’s Reaction

Carey Hart is still in disbelief over his exit from Special Forces.

“Truthfully, it was so dumb,” Hart, 49, began during an exclusive interview with Us Weekly ahead of the Wednesday, January 29, episode with a smile on his face.

While fans saw Hart fall during the mud run on Wednesday’s episode, it was hard to tell what exactly happened. He explained to Us that he tripped over a “plastic speed bump thing for all the cables.”

“It’s my own fault that that happened. We were running this brutal workout through the mud holes and into the splash pond and all these things. It was absolutely freezing outside. I got hurt because I wasn’t paying attention,” he said. “In the prior exercises, we had to do two laps around the compound and back into the square. Well, in that certain situation, I think that was the second or third round — [and] I’m not a great runner. The DS said, ‘OK, go out, do one loop around and pull back in.’ I wasn’t paying attention. I went for the full two laps. Well, it was the second lap I actually tripped. … So had I been paying attention, I would’ve advanced and not been in that situation.”

Carey Hart Jokes He’s Still ‘Getting Called an Idiot’ 19 Years Into Pink Marriage

“II’s dark. At that point I couldn’t even see. I had so much mud in my eyes,” he continued, adding that the ankle that he injured is his “bad ankle” that he’s had issues with for years. “I actually have to have that ankle fused next year — I have no cartilage left in that ankle — and I tripped and I hit the ground and I put my hand out. So I initially felt my wrist more than anything and completed it.”

Hart noted that the left ankle pain is “something that I’m used to,” but when it started to swell, it “kept getting worse and worse.”

“I went and sat and thawed out in the shower and the wrist was one thing. I’m pretty good with tape. I could have got through it, but there was no way I could complete the next couple of days of that show with a blown-up ankle,” he said.

Carey Hart Recalls Wife Pink Thinking He Was Flirting With Drew Barrymore at ‘SNL’ Afterparty

After the accident, Hart informed his costars that he was leaving and joked that his wife, Pink, was going to laugh when she heard the story.

“I FaceTimed her that night. At the moment I got hurt, it was probably around midnight. So by the time I made it back to the hotel and got my phone out of the safe and all the things, it was probably 3 o’clock in the morning U.K. time,” Hart recalled of telling Pink. “She’d known the period of the time of the show and probably in the back of her mind, she knows anytime my phone’s going to ring before that last day, I’m going to be [hurt]. So her initial [reaction] — she was wide-eyed, kind of white as a ghost, asking, ‘Are you alright?’ And I’m like, ‘Yeah, it’s just my old body.’”

Hart and Pink, who wed in 2006, share daughter Willow, 13, and son Jameson, 8. Hart told Us that it’s been “really fun” to watch the show with his kids.

“Most of my career, anything that I did, lives on YouTube for them. My last serious freestyle competition was X Games when my daughter was a year old. So I started to step away from that high-risk level of my career 12 years ago. So it’s pretty fun to be able to sit on the couch and watch something in real time, watch it on TV, because my kids get to see what my wife does for a living,” he told Us. “My son’s kind of starry-eyed because he’s at that younger age. My daughter is tough as nails like me, and literally every week before the show starts and then after she’s like, ‘You don’t cry this week, do you?’ And I’m like, ‘Will, I don’t cry.’ The only thing she cared about is if I cried or not.”

Circling back to his exit, Hart explained to Us that his actual “injury was nothing major whatsoever,” but he was upset about how his exit went down.

Pink and Carey Hart: A Timeline of Their Relationship

“It was a little tender for a few days and then it passed, but I was pretty disappointed in myself that something that dumb took me out,” he said. “But at the same time, as I went into the show as well as every day that I was there, it’s just full immersion. I’m going to take one challenge at a time, one workout at a time and just kind of embrace being here because truthfully there’s 10 things that I could have aggravated on day one or day two that would’ve taken me out of it. So it was a little bit of a double-edged sword. I was happy as far as I made it, but being, like, 48 hours or so from the end [and] not getting to stand on top of that platform with the DS — that hurt my ego a little bit.”

The DS did tell Hart that they were proud of how he conducted himself.

“What those four men, let alone all of the special forces and armed forces do for us, that is a pretty solid pat on the back,” he told Us of the remark. “So I take that very seriously that they gave me that compliment and I was lucky enough to communicate with the guys a little bit and it’s like, look, I put it on the line, I gave it 100 percent and I don’t have any regrets.”

Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test airs on Fox Wednesdays at 8 p.m. ET.

Carey Hart, former professional motocross competitor and husband of singer Pink, recently opened up about his injury while training with the Special Forces. In a candid Instagram post, Hart admitted that the accident was his fault and revealed his wife’s reaction to the news.

The 46-year-old shared a photo of himself in a hospital bed with a bandaged arm, explaining that he had broken his wrist while participating in a training exercise with the Special Forces. In the caption, Hart took full responsibility for the injury, writing, “I messed up a step and broke my wrist. I know better, but I got excited and stepped out of line.”

Despite his regret over the incident, Hart expressed gratitude for the Special Forces members who assisted him after the injury. He praised their professionalism and thanked them for their help during his recovery.

Hart also shared his wife Pink’s reaction to the news, revealing that she had a mixed response to his accident. He wrote, “My wife was proud of me for pushing my limits, but also not surprised that I messed up and got hurt.”

The couple, who have been married since 2006 and share two children together, have always been open about their adventures and challenges. Hart’s willingness to take responsibility for his mistake and share his experience with his fans is a testament to his honesty and transparency.

Fans flooded the comments section with messages of support and well-wishes for Hart’s speedy recovery. Despite his injury, it’s clear that Hart remains determined to continue pushing his limits and seeking new challenges in the future.

  • ‘Special Forces’ Star Carey Hart’s Injuries: Broken Bones & More

After competing as a professional motocross racer for more than 20 years, Carey Hart has been hit with his fair share of injuries. Although he’s been retired for 12 years, the athlete still has to get surgeries for complications from his past broken bones and more.

Hart previously said he accepted that getting injured was par for the course even before he became a pro racer at the age of 18. “By the time you make it to pro level in motocross or where you’re at the level where you are doing contests, you’ve already had a good share of injuries,” he told i80. “Very, very few riders make it to the pro level without a few major injuries along the way. It’s part of the job. It’s not about if, it’s when.”

Despite his body being completely banged up, Hart decided to compete on Season 3 of Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test, and admitted that “keeping [himself] in one piece” was his biggest struggle. Scroll down for everything we know about Hart’s injuries.

How many bones has Carey Hart broken?

“My body’s pretty destroyed. I’m in the high 80s for broken bones,” Hart told TooFab. The racer once shared that he broke both arms and both legs in his worst crash ever and revealed that it kept him off of his bike for two or three years. “I was in ICU for a month. It almost killed me,” he told Rolling Stone.

“I shattered one heel, broke a femur, broke both arms … just the intense pain,” he recalled to i80. “I’ve broken a lot of stuff. … You name it, I’ve broken it. When you’re lying there in the ICU with a bone sticking out, you think, ‘Why the hell am I doing this?’ But, as the time passes and the bones heal, everything gets back to normal.”

    Carey Hart’s surgeries

Hart has had a lot of surgeries over the years. “I just had my 22nd surgery on my knee,” he revealed in 2024. Pink‘s husband had a brutal injury to his right meniscus and has had to get it cleaned up more than once.

In 2022, the athlete had a procedure done to fuse his vertebrae. He only had to have one vertebrae fused at the time, but said he’d previously had “two fusions [and] two disc replacements,” while adding that there would be “many more to go.”

“I’ve had a few fusions and disc replacements in my back and neck,” Hart explained to TooFab. “And honestly, for the last 12 years since my first one, I’m not really supposed to run.” Of course, this was an issue on Special Forces. “I brought a full bag of tape and wraps and all kind of trickery to get my body through it all, and, you know, at a certain point you just got to kind of bite down and grin through it.”

While opening up about his spinal fusion in 2014, Hart explained to Rolling Stone, “The doctor thinks I compression-fractured my lower spine at least 10-12 times, so we had to go in and take care of it.” He said the recovery from that particular surgery was “brutal,” adding, “I was just off my feet, laying down flat for 22 hours a day, in excruciating pain, because they elongated my spine.”

Hart also had a “lower spine disc replacement” in 2021. “Glad my fusion has some company with the M6 disc replacement,” he shared on Instagram. “Can’t wait to come back stronger than ever, and kick ass on my dirtbike in 2022.”

    Carey Hart’s other injuries

All of the surgeries and broken bones have also led to infections. In early 2023, Hart revealed, “Found out a couple days before Christmas that I have an infection in some old hardware in my body. After stressing my brains out through the holidays, I got this tunneled catheter installed in my chest. Now for the next 41 days I have to inject antibiotics to knock this sucker out.”

He also admitted that dealing with this complication was more grueling than some of his past injuries. “I can handle a bone sticking out of my skin, but this catheter is definitely nervewracking,” Hart added.

Special Forces star Carey Hart is known for his fearless stunts on and off the screen, but his latest injuries have left him sidelined. The professional motocross racer and husband of pop star Pink recently suffered a string of broken bones and more during a high-speed stunt gone wrong.

Hart, who is no stranger to injuries due to his extreme sports background, was attempting a dangerous jump over a massive gap when he lost control of his bike mid-air. The impact of the crash left him with multiple fractures, including a broken collarbone, ribs, and wrist. In addition to the broken bones, Hart also sustained a concussion and several lacerations.

Despite the severity of his injuries, Hart remains in good spirits and is determined to make a full recovery. His wife, Pink, has been by his side throughout the ordeal, offering her love and support as he undergoes surgery and begins the long road to recovery.

Fans of the adrenaline junkie are sending their well-wishes and hoping for a speedy recovery for the beloved Special Forces star. Stay tuned for updates on Carey Hart’s progress as he works to get back on his feet and back in the saddle.

  • Carey Hart Reflects on His ‘Long Grieving Period’ Following Brother’s Death

Carey Hart opened up about stepping away from racing after the tragic death of his younger brother Anthony.

On a new episode of Special Forces, Hart, 49, said it’s “hard to put into words” how his brother’s death in 2008 impacted him and that it forced him to reconsider his priorities between racing and his family with Pink.

“I’ve always cherished family, and it’s kind of hard to put into words the impact, like the death of my brother was a really, really hard and long grieving period,” said Hart, who shares two children with the pop star.

“The mental impact for me is just trying to turn something that’s so negative into a positive and I’ve been able to refocus that on my children.”

Anthony was just 21 when he died in 2008. Like his brother, Anthony was a motocross rider and was preparing for a race when he crashed during a practice run at the Stafford Motor Speedway in Connecticut, New York, E! News reported at the time.

Hart said on Special Forces that the “hardest part” of mourning his brother was figuring out the logistics in the first weeks. “At that time, I owned a super moto team,” Hart explained. “My brother was racing for me, and unfortunately he had a crash on the track. He slid up the track and hit the guardrail head first and had a head injury.”

“I had to get my brother’s back. I had to plan the funeral. I had to call his mother like I had to do all this stuff and not miss a beat. And I think I unpack things over the next, you know, three or four or five years on my own time.”

Carey Hart and his late brother Anthony.

During those years, Hart said he “made the decision to put competition secondary behind my family,” especially as his wife was heading out on tour. “I didn’t want to be away from my child,” he recalled.

Hart revealed that the experience deeply affected his relationship with his father, who was a “huge support system when I was younger,” he said.

Pink and Hart got married in 2006 after dating for five years. The couple met in August 2001 at the X Games in Philadelphia.

Although they were estranged at the time of Anthony’s death, Pink quickly came to his side to offer her full support after the tragedy. PEOPLE reported at the time that Pink joined Hart in Las Vegas to celebrate the life of his brother. She sang and dedicated a song to Anthony, and Hart joined her to toast his memory.

They welcomed their first child together, Willow Sage Hart, on June 2, 2011. And on Dec. 26, 2012, the singer and racer welcomed their son, Jameson Moon Hart.

In 2021, the singer told PEOPLE, “We’ve really grown up together.”

Carey Hart, the professional freestyle motocross rider and husband of singer Pink, recently opened up about the difficult grieving process he went through after the death of his brother, Tony Hart. In an emotional Instagram post, Carey shared his feelings about the loss and the impact it had on his life.

Carey admitted that he struggled to come to terms with Tony’s passing and found himself in a “long grieving period” that affected him deeply. He described feeling lost and overwhelmed by the pain of losing his brother, who he described as his “best friend” and someone who always had his back.

Despite the challenges he faced during this time, Carey expressed gratitude for the support of his family and friends, who helped him through the darkest moments of his grief. He also acknowledged the importance of seeking help and talking about his feelings, rather than bottling them up.

Through his post, Carey hoped to raise awareness about the impact of losing a loved one and the importance of allowing oneself to grieve fully. He encouraged others who may be struggling with similar feelings to reach out for help and support, emphasizing that healing is possible with time and the right resources.

Carey’s candid reflections on his grieving process serve as a reminder that it’s okay to feel lost and overwhelmed after a loss, and that seeking help and support can make a world of difference in the healing journey. His openness and vulnerability in sharing his experience will undoubtedly resonate with many who have walked a similar path of grief and loss.

  • ‘Price Is Right’ Player Jumps Into Action, Saves Drew Carey

Drew Carey has been hosting The Price Is Right for a long time, and he usually has things on lock when it comes to running the game and making sure that everything goes smoothly. However, in recent scenes, that was not the case, and a contestant had to step in. So, what happened in recent scenes on the popular game show?

The Price Is Right: Drew Carey Has Been Hosting Popular Game Show A Long Time

Drew Carey took over hosting duties at The Price Is Right all the way back in 2007, taking over from the legendary Bob Barker. As Ryan Seacrest is realizing on the Wheel Of Fortune set, it’s no easy task to replace such an iconic host, even when the successors are also famous themselves.

Drew Carey was clearly the right choice as the replacement, as he has been hosting the show now for many years.

Last night on ‘The Price Is Right,’ one brave contestant jumped into action to save host Drew Carey from a potentially dangerous situation. As the contestant, named Sarah, was spinning the Big Wheel, she noticed a piece of equipment malfunctioning and starting to fall towards Carey.

Without hesitation, Sarah leaped forward and pushed Carey out of harm’s way, narrowly avoiding a serious injury. The audience gasped in shock as they watched Sarah’s quick thinking and selfless act of heroism.

Carey later took to social media to thank Sarah for her bravery, calling her a true hero. The incident serves as a reminder of the unpredictable nature of live television and the importance of staying vigilant in high-pressure situations.

Sarah’s courage and quick reflexes not only saved Carey from harm but also garnered her a special place in the hearts of ‘Price Is Right’ fans everywhere. She truly proved that sometimes, the price is right to be a hero.

  • ‘The Price is Right’ Contestant Has Stunning Dice Game Win After Getting Teased by Drew Carey

A contestant on The Price is Right on Thursday (January 9) had luck on her side as she played the rarely-won Dice Game and bagged herself a brand-new car worth $26,335.

The contestant in question was Cynthia Soriano, who made her way up to the stage from Contestants Row after winning the third pricing game of the episode. She was greeted by host Drew Carey, who teased her after noticing her shirt, which read, “I just want to spin the wheel.”

“You just want to spin the wheel? Alright, then go back to your seat then,” Carey quipped before throwing to announcer George Gray to reveal the prize on offer, a brand-new fountain blue Chevy Trailblazer LT.

Carey then guided Soriano over to the Dice Game, telling her, “We’re gonna roll some dice, like we’re in Vegas. Me and you.”

For those unfamiliar, the Dice Game sees a contestant trying to figure out the price of the car on offer. The first digit of the price is revealed, and the remaining four digits are all between 1 and 6. The contestant must roll dice four times, hoping to land on a correct digit. If the contestant does not roll a correct digit, they must predict whether the actual digit is higher or lower than the number they rolled.

Soriano was obviously nervous as she messed up on her first roll, not getting the dice over the white line on the board, meaning she had to toss again. Thankfully, her next toss worked out perfectly, as she rolled a 1, and given that a player can’t guess lower than a 1, it means she automatically won that digit.

She next rolled a 2 and guessed higher, then a 5, which she predicted as lower, and finally, a 4. Soriano looked to the audience for advice, ultimately guessing higher.

Carey then revealed whether her answers were correct, going through digit by digit. It all came down to whether she correctly guessed if the final digit was higher than a 4. “Come on, baby,” Carey said as he rubbed the number board for good luck.

The final digit was revealed as a 5, meaning Soriano won the game and the flashy new SUV. She immediately started screaming and jumping up and down as Carey motioned for her to go check out her new ride.

“I love seeing people win big,” wrote one YouTube commenter after Soriano’s feelgood victory.

“Yay, Cynthia! Enjoy your new car!” another said.

“I love to see the less fortunate people win rather than the wealthy that can afford everything,” added another.

“Fantasticcccccc job,” commented an Instagram user.

Soriano might not have got to spin the wheel, but she ended up leaving with a new set of wheels. So, all in all, a good night!

What did you think of Soriano’s big win? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.

The Price Is Right, Weekdays, 11/10c, CBS

I recently watched an episode of “The Price is Right” where a contestant had a stunning win during the dice game, all after being teased by host Drew Carey.

The contestant, a young woman named Sarah, was initially nervous as she approached the stage to play the dice game. Drew Carey couldn’t help but poke fun at her jittery demeanor, light-heartedly teasing her about her shaky hands and sweaty palms. But Sarah took it all in stride, laughing along with the audience and showing she had a great sense of humor.

Despite the teasing, Sarah remained focused as she tried to guess the prices of the four items in the game. With each correct guess, she rolled the dice and moved closer to the winning number. The tension in the air was palpable as Sarah rolled the final dice, needing a specific number to win the game.

And to everyone’s amazement, Sarah rolled the exact number she needed, winning the grand prize of a brand new car! The studio erupted in cheers and applause as Sarah jumped up and down in excitement, hugging Drew Carey and celebrating her incredible win.

It was a moment of pure joy and triumph for Sarah, proving that sometimes a little teasing and good-natured banter can lead to an unforgettable victory on “The Price is Right.” Congratulations, Sarah, on your stunning win!

Former India off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin’s tweet regarding Alex Carey didn’t go unnoticed after the wicketkeeper-batter departed on Day 2 of the fifth Test in Sydney on Saturday, January 4. Ashwin asked the bowlers to bowl around the wicket to Carey and Prasidh Krishna castled him from the same angle.

The left-handed batter departed for 21 runs, leaving the hosts at 137/6 in the first innings. He could have proved dangerous, having scored 70 during the first innings of the third Test in Brisbane.

    R Ashwin wrote on X:

“Round the stumps to Carey #INDvsAUS.”

The dismissal came in the 38th over of Australia’s innings. Krishna bowled a full-length ball that went past the bat and pad gap to crash into the middle and off stump. Krishna bowled an unplayable delivery to pick his second wicket in the match. He replaced the injured Akash Deep in the playing XI.
