Tiffany Stratton was curiously nowhere to be seen during the first two hours of tonight’s (Jan. 3) SmackDown when Nia Jax was preparing to defend the WWE women’s championship against Naomi.
Jax and Naomi went on to have a very long back-and-forth match with tons of near falls. After a big spot off the top rope that saw both wrestlers down on the mat with seemingly nothing left in the tank, Stratton came running down to the ring with the Money in the Bank contract and teased that she was finally cashing in.
However, it was just a fake out; Stratton blasted Naomi with the briefcase and helped Nia score the three count.
It looked like it was all a ruse, and Jax was on the same page with Stratton. However, when Jax got into a fight with Bianca Belair after the match was over, Tiffany smashed Jax with the briefcase and showed her true intentions. Belair nailed Jax with a KOD, Tiffany took out Bianca, and then she cashed in and hit the Prettiest Moonsault Ever to pin Jax and become the new WWE women’s champion.
