  • RNC chair Whatley vows to be ‘tip of the spear’ to protect Trump after coasting to re-election victory

The members of the Republican National Committee, in a vote that was never in doubt, on Friday re-elected chair Michael Whatley to continue steering the national party committee.

“This organization has got to be the tip of the spear. And as your chairman, I promise this organization will be the tip of the spear to protect Donald Trump,” Whatley said, as he spoke after the unanimous voice vote at the RNC’s annual meeting, which was held this year in the nation’s capital ahead of Monday’s inauguration of President-elect Trump

Whatley, a longtime Trump ally and a major supporter of Trump’s election integrity efforts, who was serving as RNC general counsel and chair of the North Carolina Republican Party, was named by Trump last March as chair as the former president clinched the 2024 GOP presidential nomination. Whatley succeeded longtime RNC chair Ronna McDaniel, whom Trump no longer supported.

In an exclusive interview with Fox News Digital on the sidelines of the RNC’s winter meeting, Whatley says his job going forward in the 2025 elections and 2026 midterms is straight forward.

“It’s really critical for us to make sure that the Trump voters become Republican voters,” Whatley told Fox News Digital on the sidelines of the RNC’s winter meeting, which is being held in the nation’s capital.

Republicans enjoyed major victories in November’s elections, with Trump defeating Vice President Kamala Harris to win back the White House, the GOP flipping control of the Senate from the Democrats, and holding on to their razor-thin majority in the House.

Whatley, who was interviewed on Thursday on the eve of the formal RNC chair vote, said the GOP needs “to cement those gains” made in the 2024 elections.

“We’re going to go right back to the building blocks that we had during this election cycle, which is to get out the vote and protect the ballot,” Whatley emphasized.

The RNC chair pointed to “the lessons that we learned” in the 2024 cycle “about going after low propensity voters, about making sure that we’re reaching out to every voter and bringing in new communities,” which he said helped Republicans make “historic gains among African American voters, among Asian American voters, among Hispanic voters, young voters and women voters.”

Speaking a couple of days before the president-elect’s inauguration, Whatley emphasized that once Trump’s in the White House, “we’re going to go right back to the RNC. We’re going to roll up our sleeves and get to work. We’ve got a couple of governor’s races…that we’re going to be working on in ‘25.”

HOUSE GOP CAMPAIGN COMMITTEE CHAIR MAKES 2026 PREDICTION

But Whatley said “everything is focused on ‘26,” when the party will be defending its majorities in the House and Senate, “because that is going to determine, from an agenda perspective, whether we have two years to work with or four. And America needs us to have a four-year agenda.”

“What we’re going to be doing is making sure that we are registering voters,” he said. “We’re going to be…communicating with the folks that we need to turn out.”

Republican National Committee chair Mike Whatley is interviewed by Fox News Digital on the sidelines of the RNC’s winter meeting in Washington D.C., on Thursday. (Fox News – Paul Steinhauser)

Pointing to the 2024 presidential election, Whatley said “it’s the same fundamentals.”

But he noted that “it’s not just seven battleground states” and that the 2026 contests are “definitely going to be a very intense midterm election cycle.”

While Democrats would disagree, Whatley described today’s GOP as “a common sense party… this is a party that’s going to fight for every American family and for every American community.”

SENATE REPUBLICAN CAMPAIGN COMMITTEE CHAIR SPELLS OUT HIS 2026 MISSION

Referring to former Democrats Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. and former Rep. Tulsi Gabbard, whom Trump has nominated to serve in his second administration’s cabinet, Whatley touted “the fact that we have two former Democratic presidential candidates who are going to be serving in the president’s cabinet. That shows you that this is a commonsense agenda, a commonsense team, that we’re going to be moving forward with.”

In December, Trump asked Whatley to continue during the 2026 cycle as RNC chair.

“I think we will be able to talk when we need to talk,” Whatley said when asked if his lines of communication with Trump will be limited now that the president-elect is returning to the White House. “We’re going to support the president and his agenda. That does not change. What changes is his ability from the White House to actually implement the agenda that he’s been campaigning on.”

VANCE HOSTS TOP-DOLLAR FUNDRAISER AHEAD OF TRUMP INAUGURATION

The winter meeting included the last appearance at the RNC by co-chair Lara Trump. The president-elect’s daughter-in-law is stepping down from her post.

She stressed that it’s crucial the RNC takes “the opportunity the voters have given us” to “continue to expand the Republican brand.”

The elder Trump is term-limited and won’t be able to seek election again in 2028. Vice President-elect JD Vance will likely be considered the front-runner for the 2028 GOP nomination.

Whatley reiterated what he told Fox News Digital in December — that the RNC will stay neutral in the next race for the GOP nomination and that the party’s “got an amazing bench.”

“You think about the talent on the Republican side of the aisle right now, our governors, our senators, our members of Congress, people that are going to be serving in this administration. I love the fact that the Republican Party is going to be set up to have a fantastic candidate going into ’28,” he highlighted.

Unlike the DNC, which in the 2024 cycle upended the traditional presidential nominating calendar, the RNC made no major changes to their primary lineup, and kept the Iowa caucuses and the New Hampshire primary as their first two contests.

Asked about the 2028 calendar, Whatley reiterated to Fox News that “I have not had any conversations with anybody who wants to change the calendar, so we will wait and see what that looks like as we’re going forward. We’re at the RNC meetings this week and having a number of conversations with folks, but that is not a huge push.”

“I don’t think that changing the calendar really helped the Democrats at all,” Whatley argued. “And I think that us, making sure that we are working our system the way that we always have, is going to be critical.”

RNC chair Whatley vows to be ‘tip of the spear’ to protect Trump after coasting to re-election victory

The Republican National Committee chair, John Whatley, has secured his position for another term after coasting to victory in the re-election race. In his victory speech, Whatley vowed to continue to be the “tip of the spear” in protecting President Trump and advancing the Republican agenda.

“I am honored to have been re-elected as RNC chair, and I am ready to continue to fight for President Trump and our conservative values,” Whatley said. “I will be the tip of the spear, leading the charge to protect our president from attacks and ensure that our party remains strong and united.”

Whatley’s re-election comes at a crucial time for the Republican Party, as they gear up for the 2020 presidential election. With President Trump facing mounting criticism and opposition from Democrats, Whatley’s leadership will be vital in rallying support for the president and mobilizing the party base.

“I am committed to working tirelessly to ensure that President Trump is re-elected in 2020,” Whatley stated. “I will not back down in the face of adversity, and I will continue to be a fierce advocate for our president and our party.”

As Whatley begins his new term as RNC chair, all eyes will be on him to see if he can deliver on his promise to be the “tip of the spear” in protecting Trump and leading the Republican Party to victory in the upcoming election.

  • Sabatini becomes county board chair

     Sabatini

MOUNT CLEMENS — The Macomb County Board of Commissioners voted on Jan. 9 to appoint Joe Sabatini, R-District 4, as its new chair in a unanimous vote.

“I’m very thankful of my fellow commissioners and their trust and support to put me in the position,” Sabatini said. “I’m looking forward to working with all the countywide officials in a new way. We’re progressing here, we’ve had meetings all week, so it’s been a busy January to say the least.”

Originally elected to the board in 2010 for a tenure that lasted until 2016, voters in the Macomb Township District 4 elected him back to the board in November 2020. Sabatini was reelected in 2022 and 2024, and is now serving a term that will last until 2028. Sabatini has been serving as the Finance/Audit/Budget Committee chair, a role that had him managing the county budget.

Sabatini’s road to becoming chair began when former Chair Don Brown, R-District 1, resigned on Dec. 12, 2024, to work in the Macomb County Public Works Office. From there, Sabatini began working with commissioners to become the board’s leader.

“It starts with conversations with commissioners and working through what their concerns are and what they want to see from a chair,” Sabatini said. “Making yourself available to them and listening to them and seeing what their issues are and goals are and all those types of matters to secure their vote and trust in you leading the board.”

Sabatini says commissioners wanted someone with financial experience, especially ahead of the county’s anticipated hiring of a new financial director in the near future. The ability to manage the board’s staff on a day-to-day basis was another point commissioners wished to see in the next chair.

“Our staff supports 13 commissioners, so we’ve got a limited staff, but they do a great job,” Sabatini said. “There’s a lot of moving parts with their positions, so we want to make sure that our well-oiled machine is working in that manner. I’m big on process, I’m big on procedures. We’ll have some fine-tuning to do things that I think are important that will support the commissioners and make sure they get what they need from our staff.  But for what we do with the staff as large as we have, for the county the size that we are, is pretty remarkable in comparison to our neighboring communities.”

The third major point Sabatini heard from commissioners was that they wanted someone who would be available to help at any time as their new chair.

“It’s a 24/7-type scenario,” Sabatini said. “We don’t just work 9-5. It is calls on Saturdays, it’s calls on Sundays, it’s late nights. It’s whatever they need to be successful in their position, and I’m on their team to make sure they have all the tools in place to be successful and they can do what they need to support their community.”

Along with the unanimous support from trustees, Sabatini’s appointment as chair has found support from his district’s leadership as well.

“Joe has a track record of being a strong advocate for fiscal responsibility, but at the same time has shown the ability to work with people who have differing opinions,” Frank Viviano, Macomb Township supervisor, said via email. “I think he has shown he has the skills needed to keep our County Board moving in a positive direction.”

Brown, the man whose resignation cleared the way for Sabatini’s ascension, praised his successor’s appointment.

“Joe will be (an) outstanding Chairman, working with all the county commissioners and countywide officials to ensure the taxpayer interests are protected and the county remains in outstanding financial condition as they move our county forward,” Brown said.

Sabatini himself had high praise for Brown, both as his predecessor and as a mentor.

“I’ve been lucky to serve with so many experienced people that have helped me, and certainly Commissioner Brown,” Sabatini said. “(Brown) was the first person that called me when I got elected years ago. He’s mentored me over the years and I couldn’t have picked a better mentor than someone who’s been on the board for 30-plus years. We joke all the time about how Don came with the furniture, but speaking frankly, he was there before the building was even built. I’ve always had someone like that I could lean on and get good advice from … I’ve had a great pool of people that I’ve learned from and I couldn’t be any luckier.”

With a new chair selected — along with the reelections of Vice Chair Harold Haugh, D-District 10, and Sylvia Grot, R-District 3, as the board’s sergeant-at-arms — the next step is to appoint a new District 1 commissioner. The new commissioner, which Sabatini expects the board to appoint at its Thursday, Jan. 23 meeting, will serve until a special election is held next year.

Ordered by wife. I have severe asthma, polymyalgia rhuematica. (form of arthritis). It was easier to sit and not move because of pain. Of course, you then have more and bigger problems with walking, standing and you are just plain weak- sitting all day your muscles get weak very fast when not in use. I was crying because I couldn’t even get out of a chair let alone walk a few feet with feeling like my legs would give out and the pain…I can’t tell you how much I hurt. The doctor told me to start exercising and to take it slow. I was physically fit until age 70. When I was diagnose with PMR and asthma. I had to look for senior exercise as I’m 74 and can’t bounce around anymore. I bought this exercise program because of the ratings. It s wonderful. Use this 5 to 6 days week. Alternating discs. I feel great. I can now get out of the chair with no assistance and walk further than I have in a long time. I almost feel like myself again. I recommend this to everyone 60 years and above (50’s too) no need to jump around for exercise. Ann Pringle Burnell is awesome in leading the exercise. I have been using this for two weeks. What a difference in the way i feel and move. You get a total body workout sitting in a chair. I was so weak and now I’m getting stronger by the day. Do not hesitate to get “Stronger Seniors”. My husband and friends notice the difference in the way I’m moving. I LOVE THIS EXERCISE PROGRAM. DO NOT HESITATE TO PURCHASE THIS.

  • ‘Unlawful DEI-motivated’ discrimination in the workplace to be rooted out by Trump’s new acting EEOC chair

President Donald Trump’s pick to serve as acting chair of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) vowed to make rooting out illegal diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) practices in the workplace a priority, she said.

“Consistent with the President’s Executive Orders and priorities, my priorities will include rooting out unlawful DEI-motivated race and sex discrimination; protecting American workers from anti-American national origin discrimination; defending the biological and binary reality of sex and related rights, including women’s rights to single-sex spaces at work; protecting workers from religious bias and harassment, including antisemitism; and remedying other areas of recent under-enforcement,” Andrea Lucas said in a press release provided to Fox News Digital on Tuesday.

Lucas was appointed to the EEOC as a commissioner in 2020 under the first Trump administration and has served in the role since. The EEOC is the federal government’s only agency authorized to investigate and sue private companies and employers over employment discrimination.

“I am honored to be chosen by President Trump to lead the EEOC, our nation’s premier civil rights agency enforcing federal employment anti-discrimination laws,” Lucas said of her appointment. “I look forward to restoring evenhanded enforcement of employment civil rights laws for all Americans. In recent years, this agency has remained silent in the face of multiple forms of widespread, overt discrimination.”

Trump signed a bevy of executive actions and orders on Monday after he was sworn in as the nation’s 47th president, including ones related to diversity, equity and inclusion, better known as DEI programs.

“The Biden Administration forced illegal and immoral discrimination programs, going by the name ‘diversity, equity, and inclusion’ (DEI), into virtually all aspects of the Federal Government, in areas ranging from airline safety to the military,” Trump’s executive order on ending “radical and wasteful” DEI programs states. “This was a concerted effort stemming from President Biden’s first day in office.”

“That ends today,” the executive order reads. “Americans deserve a government committed to serving every person with equal dignity and respect, and to expending precious taxpayer resources only on making America great.”

Lucas echoed Trump’s views on DEI programs within the federal government and beyond in her statement Tuesday, championing that the nation “must reject the twin lies of identity politics.”

TRUMP PRAISED FOR EXECUTIVE ACTIONS ON BORDER, DEI, ENERGY: ‘COMMON SENSE DAY IN AMERICA’

“Our employment civil rights laws are a matter of individual rights,” Lucas said. “We must reject the twin lies of identity politics: that justice is measured by group outcomes and that civil rights exist solely to remedy harms against certain groups.”

“I intend to dispel the notion that only the ‘right sort of’ charging party is welcome through our doors and to reinforce instead the fundamental belief enshrined in the Declaration of Independence and our civil rights laws—that all people are ‘created equal.’ I am committed to ensuring equal justice under the law and to focusing on equal opportunity, merit, and colorblind equality.”

In a move aimed at combating unlawful discrimination in the workplace, President Trump has appointed a new acting chair of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) who has vowed to root out DEI-motivated discrimination.

The EEOC is responsible for enforcing federal laws that prohibit discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, and genetic information in the workplace. However, there has been a growing concern about discrimination based on diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) initiatives in recent years.

The new acting chair of the EEOC, appointed by President Trump, has promised to prioritize investigating and prosecuting cases of unlawful DEI-motivated discrimination. This includes discrimination against employees who advocate for diversity and inclusion in the workplace, as well as discrimination against employees based on their race, gender, or other protected characteristics.

The acting chair has stated that they will work closely with employers to ensure that they are in compliance with federal anti-discrimination laws and will take swift action against those who engage in unlawful discrimination. They have also emphasized the importance of creating a workplace culture that is inclusive and welcoming to all employees, regardless of their background or beliefs.

With the new acting chair at the helm, the EEOC is poised to take a strong stance against unlawful DEI-motivated discrimination in the workplace. Employers should be on notice that discriminatory practices will not be tolerated, and that the EEOC will take action to protect the rights of all employees.

  • Hughes reappointed to chair of State Affairs, Jurisprudence

AUSTIN, Texas (KLTV/KTRE) – Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick has reappointed State Sen. Bryan Hughes as chair of two committees.

For the 89th Legislature, Hughes (R-Mineola) will chair the Committee of State Affairs and Committe of Jurisprudence.

    Hughes released the following statement:

“Thank you Lt. Governor Dan Patrick for entrusting me to continue serving as Chair of State Affairs and Chair of Jurisprudence. These committees tackle some of the biggest issues in the Nation—including protecting Election Integrity, stopping Big Tech overreach, and defending Texans’ constitutional rights.”

Patrick also appointed two East Texas senators back on two other committees.

Bob Hall (R-Rockwall) wil return to chair the Committee on Administration. Robert Nichols (R-Jacksonville) will chair the Committee on Transportation.

Committee chairs have the responsibility to determine which legislation can be voted on, in order to advance the bill to the Senate floor. A bill does not have a chance at becoming law without progression through committee.

Hall was also named to the following committees: Finance, Health and Human Services, State Affairs, Veteran Affairs.

Hughes was named to the following committees: Health and Human Services, Natural Resources, Nominations.

Nichols was named to the following committees: Business and Commerce, Finance, Local Government.

Governor Smith has announced the reappointment of Sarah Hughes as the chair of the State Affairs and Jurisprudence committee. Hughes, a seasoned lawmaker with a strong background in legal matters, has been instrumental in guiding important legislation through the committee during her previous term.

Her reappointment comes as no surprise, as she has proven herself to be a dedicated and effective leader in her role. Under her guidance, the committee has tackled complex issues with diligence and care, ensuring that the laws passed are fair and just for all.

Hughes’ expertise and commitment to upholding the law make her the perfect candidate to continue chairing the State Affairs and Jurisprudence committee. With her at the helm, we can be confident that important legal matters will be handled with precision and integrity. Congratulations to Sarah Hughes on her reappointment – we look forward to seeing the continued success of the committee under her leadership.
