Calipari’s post-honeymoon Hogs must survive 5 internal challenges going into SEC ball

    4. Surviving the hunger games ahead

No one knows better than Calipari what awaits his team in 2025 SEC play. Losing their front running status maybe just what the doctor ordered. Cal’s Hogs needed to work up an appetite and play hungry — starting this Saturday with noon-time commencement ceremonies at Thompson Bolding Arena.

The infatuation with having a hall of fame coach and a highly-regarded recruiting class may have deceived most observers inside Arkansas into thinking their new coach and cast of players would be the envy of the SEC. Outside of Arkansas however most observers looked at the match between Calipari and the Razorbacks a bunch of has beens on the rebound.

Cal’s Hogs have since recovered some of their street cred thanks to a win over a then-ranked Michigan team in Ann Arbor. However when asked about how much that win could carry over into SEC play, the usually loquacious don of college basketball hyperventilated and was at a complete loss for words.

In both pre-conference losses at Baylor and Illinois, Arkansas played like front runners and never led. They fell down by double digits early. They rallied enough to keep the final score respectable but seemed perplexed that the Bears and Illini were not as impressed by Cal and company simply showing up.

As the Arkansas Razorbacks gear up for SEC play under head coach Eric Musselman, they will face five internal challenges that could make or break their season.

First and foremost, the team must overcome the post-honeymoon phase that often follows a successful season. After a strong showing in the NCAA tournament last year, expectations are high for the Razorbacks. It will be crucial for the players to stay focused and not let complacency set in.

Secondly, the team must adjust to new roles and rotations as they integrate new players into the lineup. With several key departures from last year’s squad, including Moses Moody and Justin Smith, the Razorbacks will need to find chemistry and cohesion quickly.

Additionally, the team must stay healthy and avoid any major injuries that could derail their season. Depth will be key for the Razorbacks, so they will need all hands on deck to compete in the ultra-competitive SEC.

Furthermore, the Razorbacks must improve their defense and rebounding, two areas that were weaknesses last season. Coach Musselman has emphasized the importance of defense and toughness, and the team will need to show significant improvement in these areas to compete with the top teams in the conference.

Lastly, the Razorbacks must maintain their mental toughness and resilience throughout the ups and downs of the season. SEC play is a grueling gauntlet, and the team will need to stay focused and determined in order to come out on top.

If the Razorbacks can successfully navigate these internal challenges, they have the potential to make a deep run in the SEC and beyond. Coach Musselman has instilled a winning mentality in his team, and it will be exciting to see how they respond to these obstacles as they embark on their conference schedule.

  • Thomas Tuchel: What challenges lie ahead for new England boss

Towards the end of Gareth Southgate’s reign as England manager, some were critical of his squad selections he made, saying he was too loyal to certain players.

Interim head coach Carsley has helped the turnover of the squad by using the youngsters who did so well for him in the U21s and has widened the pool of players who have senior experience with the England team.

The interesting thing for Tuchel will be how many of those players he will continue to pick and whether he opts for senior players he knows well.

Ben White made himself unavailable for England selection after the World Cup in Qatar when he left the squad but, once he recovers from injury for his club side at Arsenal, he could become a solid option in the England backline.

Ben Chilwell has been frozen out at Chelsea but Tuchel knows him well after his time as manager there and Chilwell was in the side that won the Champions League at Chelsea.

Harry Kane recently played under Tuchel whilst he was in charge of Bayern Munich with the manager saying how he fought to bring him to the club.

Kane was criticised in the Euros for his performances but is England’s record scorer and working under a manager who he scored 44 goals for (in just 45 games) can’t be a bad thing.

There could also be a surprise England recall for Eric Dier who is currently on 49 England caps. The defender also played under Tuchel at Bayern and played in some of the biggest games of the season under him and the coach could look to lean on his experience.

Thomas Tuchel: What challenges lie ahead for new England boss

With the recent appointment of Thomas Tuchel as the new England national team manager, fans and pundits alike are eagerly anticipating what the German tactician will bring to the table. Tuchel, known for his tactical acumen and ability to get the best out of his players, faces a number of challenges as he takes on the role of guiding the Three Lions to success.

One of the biggest challenges Tuchel will face is managing the expectations of a passionate fan base. The England national team has a history of underperforming on the biggest stages, and fans are desperate for a return to glory. Tuchel will need to navigate the pressure and hype surrounding the team, while also instilling a sense of belief and confidence in his players.

Another challenge for Tuchel will be integrating young talent into the squad. England has a wealth of promising young players coming through the ranks, and Tuchel will need to find the right balance between experience and youth. Developing a cohesive playing style and identity will be crucial in harnessing the potential of these young stars.

Tuchel will also need to address the issue of player fitness and fatigue. With a congested fixture schedule and the demands of club football, Tuchel will need to carefully manage the workload of his players to ensure they are in peak condition for international competitions.

Overall, Thomas Tuchel faces a number of challenges as he takes on the role of England national team manager. However, with his track record of success and tactical acumen, there is optimism that he can guide the Three Lions to glory in the years to come.

Everything you need to know about the Fidough Fetch event in Pokémon Go

Fidough Fetch breaks Pokémon Go’s tradition of keeping to local times for the beginning and end of an event, so, if you’re looking for when this event is occurring, head to the first section of this guide. For now, let’s take a look at the bonuses and there is… one. To begin with. It’s a good one though if you’re in need of a shiny Voltorb or Electrike as you’ll have an increased chance of encountering both.

    Dachsbun.

Additional bonuses, such as double catch XP, will be unlocked as players complete the Global Challenges running throughout the event, which you can learn more about in the section above.

The main attraction of this event, however, is revealed in its name – the release of Fidough and Dachsbun from Gen 9. These dogs are literally made of pastry. Fidough’s official Pokédex describes it as being ‘smooth and moist to the touch’ and that the ‘Yeast in Fidough’s breath induces fermentation’. Life finds a way I guess. (Though it also puts you at risk of being eaten by a hungry Pokémon trainer.)

You’ll need 50 Fidough Candy to evolve (or bake) this little pastry dog into a Dachsbun. First, however, you need to wait for Level Two of the Global Challenges to be completed before Fidough is released. Once that happens, we’ll all be able to catch this delicious confection – I mean, Pokémon.

Outside of Fidough’s release, there will also be a selection of event-exclusive research tasks to complete and PokéStop Showcases to partake in.

Finally, the following Pokémon will be appearing more frequently in the wild:

    • Growlithe
    • Voltorb
    • Snubbull
    • Poochyena
    • Electrike
    • Lillipup

Growlithe and Poochyena are appearing more frequently in the wild during Fidough Fetch.

Hope you enjoy the Fidough Fetch event!

  • Jayson Tatum Challenges Celtics To Meet January Goal After Clutch Win

Jayson Tatum Challenges Celtics To Meet January Goal After Clutch Win

The Boston Celtics clearly haven’t looked right for the last month.

They’ve already matched their loss total at home from the championship season and failed to match their identity. The Celtics ended the calendar year in an inconsistent 3-3 stretch. That set up a difficult road trip to start 2025.

Tatum, without Kristaps Porzingis and Jaylen Brown, did enough for the Celtics with 33 points in a 118-115 win over the Minnesota Timberwolves to go 1-0 in the new year.

“We’ve had a rough stretch the last eight or nine games,” Tatum told TNT’s Allie LaForce postgame. “This January we’re trying to turn it around and get back to our identity. What better way to come in on the road in a tough environment against a really good team down to of your best players. The way that we responded and figured out a way to win, you’ll take that any day.”

The schedule won’t get any easier for Boston as the Celtics battle Western Conference contenders in a row against the Houston Rockets, the Oklahoma City Thunder and the Denver Nuggets. That’s a gauntlet to get through, though the perfect opportunity arrives for the Celtics to reestablish their league-wide dominance and reset their standard to start 2025.

    Story continues below advertisement

“Take it one game at a time,” Tatum added. “I love the way we competed, our physicality was on point tonight. That’s what it’s going to take.”

In a thrilling game against the Brooklyn Nets, Jayson Tatum showed why he is one of the rising stars in the NBA. With a game-winning shot in the final seconds, Tatum led the Boston Celtics to a crucial victory.

But Tatum isn’t satisfied with just one win. He’s challenging his teammates to meet their January goal and continue their winning streak. With key matchups against top teams on the horizon, Tatum knows that the Celtics need to bring their A-game every night.

“We’ve got a tough schedule ahead of us, but I believe in this team,” Tatum said after the game. “We have the talent and the determination to reach our goal for January. It’s going to take everyone stepping up and playing their best basketball, but I know we can do it.”

With Tatum leading the charge, the Celtics have a strong chance of achieving their goal. Fans can expect an exciting month of basketball as the team looks to build on their recent success and solidify their spot in the standings. Let’s go Celtics! #CelticsNation #JaysonTatum #JanuaryGoals
