Last-minute fantasy pickups – Week 17: Chig Okonkwo | Fantasy Football Live

Yahoo Sports fantasy analyst Andy Behrens explains why the Tennessee Titans tight end is worth a start in championship week.

    Video Transcript

Andy Barns, give me a last minute pickup that’s still out there and available that people can get them.

We’ll help them win their trophies.

Yeah, I’m not always a huge fan of dipping into the waiver wire for randoms and championship week, but plenty of us have been just in the tight end wilderness all season.

If that’s you, then I think Titan’s tight end Chigoonkwo can help.

After a mostly quiet season, and honestly a mostly quiet career.

Aonwo is suddenly a target magnet.

He’s drawn 21 targets over the past two weeks.

    He’s caught 17 for 140 yards.

We just don’t have a lot of tight ends out there doing that.

Some of this has been game flow, obviously.

Tennessee has been in shootouts with the Colts and the Bengals over the last two weeks.

Some of it is also just the fact that Conk was a bit of a playmaker.

We’ve seen the big playability previously, but he’s always been attached to a bad quarterback situation as a secondary receiver.

He’s dealing with the unfortunate QB, but it’s tough to argue with the recent volume.

Also tough to argue with this week’s matchup against Jacksonville.

That is the league’s most generous pass defense.

It’s also a team that’s allowed the 7th most fantasy points to opposing tight ends, so it’s a great spot.

If you’re hurting at a very messy position, again, many of us are a cono is a great answer in title.

Are you scrambling to fill your roster for the final week of the fantasy football season? Look no further than Chig Okonkwo as a last-minute pickup for Week 17.

Okonkwo has emerged as a reliable option at the tight end position for the New Orleans Saints, and with their high-powered offense, he has the potential to put up big numbers in the season finale. With injuries and COVID-19 protocols affecting many teams, Okonkwo could be the difference maker in your championship matchup.

Don’t wait until it’s too late – snag Chig Okonkwo off the waiver wire and give your team a boost in the final week of the season. Tune into Fantasy Football Live for more tips and advice on how to dominate your league.

Fantasy Football start or sit Week 17: Tyjae Spears, Calvin Ridley, Chig Okonkwo

The Tennessee Titans will meet the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday in Week 17. If the Titans are going to break their four-game losing streak, they need a lot out of wide receiver Calvin Ridley, running back Tyjae Spears and tight end Chig Okonkwo.

Ridley had one of his better games of the season in Week 16, finishing with three receptions for 78 yards and a touchdown. This will be his second meeting versus his former mates.

Spears was called into a bigger role last week with fellow back Tony Pollard not fully healthy. Spears turned that role into 13 touches for 66 scrimmage yards and two touchdowns. This week, Spears is expected to see even more work.

Last but not least, Okonkwo had his best game of the season last week, tallying team-highs in receptions (nine) and receiving yards (81).

With each coming off strong performances, should Okonkwo, Spears and/or Ridley be in fantasy football lineups this week? Let’s discuss.

Fantasy Football start or sit Week 17: Tyjae Spears

With fellow running back Tony Pollard ruled out due to an ankle injury and illness, Spears will be the lead back in Tennessee and should see a significant amount of work.

Making Spears a more attractive option is the fact that he draws a juicy matchup against a Jaguars team that sports the No. 21 run defense in the NFL and is ceding the second-most fantasy points per game to the position. Consider Spears a high-end flex option with upside.

    Verdict: Start Tyjae Spears

Fantasy Football start or sit Week 17: Calvin Ridley

Ridley’s production has been disappointing this season, but he is nearing 1,000 yards (he needs 143 more) and is coming one of his better showings of 2024.

Jacksonville has been very giving to wide receivers, with the defense ceding the third-most fantasy points per game to the position. The Jaguars also own the league’s worst pass defense.

Ridley finished his first revenge game against the Jags with seven catches for 59 scoreless yards. We expect bigger numbers and a touchdown this week.

    Verdict: Start Calvin Ridley

Fantasy Football start or sit Week 17: Chig Okonkwo

Okonkwo actually has a chance to break his career-high in receiving yards if he can tally 92 over his last two games. And, he’s coming off his best game of the season last week.

However, a lot of Okonkwo’s production has come in garbage time when the Titans are getting blown out, so keep that in mind. That isn’t likely to be the scenario this week.

But you can’t exactly be picky when it comes to tight ends, and Okonkwo does draw a matchup against the league’s worst pass defense that is also ceding the sixth-most fantasy points per game to tight ends.

    We’ll call Chig a boom-or-bust TE2 play for Week 17.

    Verdict: Start Chig Okonkwo

Week 17 of the NFL season is here, and fantasy football managers are faced with some tough start or sit decisions. Let’s take a look at three players who could make a big impact for your team this week: Tyjae Spears, Calvin Ridley, and Chig Okonkwo.

First up, Tyjae Spears. The rookie running back has been a pleasant surprise for fantasy owners this season, with his explosive speed and versatility making him a valuable asset. In Week 17, Spears faces a favorable matchup against a weak run defense, making him a solid start option for fantasy managers in need of a running back.

Next, Calvin Ridley. The Atlanta Falcons wide receiver has had an up-and-down season, but he has shown flashes of his potential as a top fantasy option. In Week 17, Ridley faces a tough matchup against a stingy secondary, so fantasy managers may want to consider sitting him if they have better options available.

Lastly, Chig Okonkwo. The rookie tight end has been a reliable target for his quarterback this season, with his size and athleticism making him a red zone threat. In Week 17, Okonkwo faces a favorable matchup against a weak defense, making him a solid start option for fantasy managers in need of a tight end.

In conclusion, fantasy football managers should consider starting Tyjae Spears and Chig Okonkwo in Week 17, while possibly sitting Calvin Ridley depending on their other options. Good luck to all fantasy managers in their playoff matchups!
