  • Graeter’s Ice Cream announces Skyline Chili ice cream collab

CINCINNATI — Fans of two Cincinnati brands are in for a wild ride as Skyline Chili and Graeter’s Ice Cream team up for a daring dessert creation.

A new “Graeter’s Skyline Chili Spice Ice Cream” is set to be released Jan. 27. The ice cream flavor combines Graeter’s French pot ice cream with Skyline’s spice blend and crunchy oyster crackers.

Some members of the WCPO 9 team tried it. Here’s what we thought:

The idea of a possible Skyline Chili ice cream first emerged in October when a listing of a pint of the ice cream flavor appeared on Kroger’s website and went viral online.

At the time, a Graeter’s spokesperson told us the chili-flavored ice cream that appeared on the website was concept artwork and was unavailable. A spokesperson with Skyline Chili said the two companies were collaborating on something.

The ice cream flavor initially received mixed reactions when Kroger dropped the concept online. Tri-State native and Vice President JD Vance expressed his distaste at the time for the flavor on X (formerly Twitter)stating “President Trump and I will stop this.”

This isn’t the first time Graeter’s has partnered with another Cincinnati brand. They’ve worked on a Black Raspberry Chocolate Chip Milk Stout and Key Lime Pie Ale with Braxton Brewing Co.

Skyline has also had its share of collabs, partnering with Dewey’s for a Skyline Chili pizza over the years.

Attention all Cincinnati foodies! Graeter’s Ice Cream has just announced a new collaboration with Skyline Chili, and we couldn’t be more excited.

Get ready to indulge in a deliciously unique flavor combination that brings together Graeter’s creamy, decadent ice cream with Skyline Chili’s iconic Cincinnati-style chili. This limited edition flavor is sure to tantalize your taste buds and satisfy your cravings for both sweet and savory treats.

Whether you’re a die-hard fan of Graeter’s or a loyal lover of Skyline Chili, this collaboration is a must-try for anyone who appreciates the best of Cincinnati’s culinary scene.

Stay tuned for more details on when and where you can get your hands on this delectable collaboration. Don’t miss out on this mouthwatering opportunity to experience the best of both worlds in one delicious scoop.

  • Ty Gibbs jumps into the deep end with Chili Bowl debut

Ty Gibbs has completely thrown himself into the deep end here.

The NASCAR Cup Series youngster and grandson of team owner Joe Gibbs Racing has helped convince ‘The Coach’ to let all his drivers race on dirt again, leading to his own debut in the Chili Bowl Midget Nationals on Tuesday night.

Christopher Bell, Ty Gibbs and Chase Briscoe ‘wore out’ Joe Gibbs’ dirt policy

Beyond his Midget debut in the Turkey Night Grand Prix, his experience in a Midget is quite minimal. He tested the Chad Boat owned indoor car at Millbridge Speedway in Salisbury, North Carolina and then had two three-minute hot laps on Sunday in practice day.

    Now he’s going to race.

“It’s just super cool to be able to do this,” Gibbs told Sportsnaut on Sunday.  “It’s been super fun. It’s just a blast. I had my first practice and there weren’t a lot of laps but it was really fun for what I got to do.

“It was like a dopamine hit. So much fun. I was excited when I was running around, doing laps, and just feeling it out. I feel more comfortable than I was last time, just that once, but I don’t know. I like it more and more each time I get in it.”

Gibbs tested a 410 Sprint Car over the autumn, which really started this process, both because he enjoys numerous disciplines of motorsports but also because Toyota is hugely invested in Midgets and Sprint Cars. He raced Micro Sprints all summer at Millbridge too.

But Indoor Midgets have wider tires and Gibbs is once again having to adjust because they race different than the outdoor counterpart.

“I feel like I had more grip than I honestly expected going into it,” Gibbs said of practice. “I don’t really know yet but I feel really good in the car. I feel comfortable. The car is driving me more than I’m driving it because I just don’t have the experience yet.

“I can’t say it enough, how much fun I’m having. I enjoy it and I just wish I could run more laps.”

Boat has really enjoyed working with and developing Gibbs as a dirt racer.

“First of all, Ty got into the Micro and immediately adapted to that, right,” Boat said. “Ty is a race car driver. I was very unsure at first because I wondered where this was going to go but I learned Ty is a race car driver, through and through.

“He has all the potential to learn it and now it’s just a matter of getting him laps. Like Daison Pursley is 20 years old and Ty isn’t much older but there is a difference of thousands of laps. Ty can’t ever catch up but we have to do everything we can to expedite that process.”

Boat praised his entire team for how much the likes of Pursley, Justin Grant and Ricky Stenhouse Jr. have all pitched in with Gibbs.

“He has a lot of guys to lean on and help him learn,” Boat said. “So we go into Tuesday with realistic goals and figure out where our starting point is here for the future. It’s no different when I bring a kid up from Micros here. You finish 18th? Okay, that’s a starting point. Let’s see where we are in 6-12 months and if we’re doing the right things from a process standpoint.

“If we do that, we’ll end up where we want to be.”

For his part, Gibbs is taking this seriously and he is aware that it’s going to be a process. But he wants to progress and he wants to expand his racing portfolio in the years to come.

“I want to go race everything,” Gibbs said. “Honestly, I would love to do everything I could. I love the open wheel stuff, dirt and asphalt. I wish I could race everything. I think maybe I can someday. Cup is my main focus and always will be but racing is fun.

“You know how much of a race fan I am. I love this. All of it. It’s my life. It’s the only thing I want to do and I don’t care about the naysayers or if anyone thinks I shouldn’t. I just really enjoy it.”

Gibbs said the atmosphere at Chili Bowl reminds him of going to Supercross and Motocross style events with his dad, the late Coy Gibbs. There is a lot of this that is Gibbs racing in a way that he believes he would have enjoyed with his dad.

“It’s a lot like racing bikes with my father and I wish I could go back any day of the week to go do that again,” Gibbs said. “It was so much fun. But this has very similar vibes. This is a blast, I’m learning a ton and I enjoy how much the track changes.

“It’s making me a smarter race car driver and I like all the ways it challenges me. It’s just really fun.”

    NASCAR’s 50 most memorable moments of 2024

Ty Gibbs, the rising star in the NASCAR world, is set to make his debut at the prestigious Chili Bowl Nationals. This marks a significant jump for the 19-year-old driver, who has primarily competed in stock car racing.

The Chili Bowl Nationals, held annually in Tulsa, Oklahoma, is known as the Super Bowl of midget car racing. It attracts some of the best drivers from across the country, making it a highly competitive event.

Gibbs, who comes from a racing family, has already shown his talent on the track with multiple wins in the ARCA Menards Series and the NASCAR Xfinity Series. Now, he is ready to test his skills in a different discipline of racing.

Jumping into the deep end at the Chili Bowl Nationals may be a daunting task for Gibbs, but with his natural talent and determination, he is sure to make a lasting impression. Fans are eager to see how he will fare against the experienced midget car drivers at this prestigious event.

Stay tuned as Ty Gibbs dives headfirst into the world of midget car racing at the Chili Bowl Nationals, ready to prove that he is a force to be reckoned with on any track.

  • Ty Gibbs is getting his hands dirty in his first Chili Bowl start

Toyota driver Ty Gibbs isn’t as experienced with dirt racing as some of the other big NASCAR names (like Kyle Larson and Christopher Bell) taking on the Chili Bowl Nationals this week. But the challenge has him fired up.

“It’s been fun,” he told Motorsport.com. “Every time I’ve gotten in the car, I feel like I learn a lot. I’ve had a blast. I wish I could do more … I’d love to do more.”

The 22-year-old is about to embark on his third full-time season at the NASCAR Cup level, but being in Tulsa is a welcomed departure from the hustle and pressure of the usual NASCAR race weekend.

“I grew up with my father [Coy] going to Supercross races and stuff like that,” said Gibbs. “I miss that. Wish I could go back. But this gives me vibes of that… it’s fun and I love it.”

He kept coming back to the word “fun” — but that doesn’t mean Gibbs hasn’t faced any difficulties since arriving in Oklahoma. Having to learn dirt racing on the track while also trying to fight his way into the main event is no easy task.

“It’s just different,” said Gibbs. “The hard part is that you don’t have that many laps. I feel like halfway through the race, I’d figure out stuff to do and learn, but then I have, like, three laps to go and I’m sliding a guy for, like, 9th.”

Putting it into NASCAR terms, Gibbs said his situation is like “coming to the Coke 600 for your first asphalt start. It’s just different, but I really love it. I love the challenge of getting better at things. I love the grind and the work.”

He only wishes he could have “figured stuff out earlier” as he continues to make progress behind the wheel of his Toyota dirt midget car.

“I’m having a lot of fun. I didn’t really have any expectations on where I wanted to be. And if I could put it all together, I’d be a lot better off than I am now — but that’s just part of learning.”

And with Coach Joe Gibbs opening the door for his drivers to run races like this, the JGR team owner’s grandson is hopeful that this is just the beginning of his Chili Bowl adventure.

“I’d love to make this the first of many Chili Bowls,” Gibbs concluded. But first, he’s aiming for the main event on Saturday. He’ll have to fight his way through an alphabet soup of heat races, likely coming from the G-Main this weekend.

Afterward, Gibbs’ focus returns to the rapidly approaching NASCAR Cup season. The former Xfinity Series champion and Toyota Racing driver has yet to win a Cup race in 87 starts, but he does have 12 top-fives and a runner-up finish at Darlington. Last year, he led over 400 laps and made the playoffs for the first time, ending the season 15th in the championship standings. Like his 2025 run at the Chili Bowl, Gibbs is eager to keep pushing further.

  • Reba McEntire’s “Chunky” Chili Recipe Is Perfect for Winter

Reba McEntire’s “Chunky” Chili Recipe Is Perfect for Winter

When it’s cold and snowy outside, Reba McEntire has a chili recipe that’ll warm you right up. Heck, it might even make you sweat.

    How to Watch

Watch Happy’s Place Fridays at 8/7c on NBC and next day on Peacock.

Over three decades ago, the Happy’s Place star shared her recipe for “Hot ‘n’ Spicy Chunky Beef Chili,” and it sounds like a bowl full of coziness. Read on to learn all about McEntire’s spicy chili recipe, the vintage cookbook it was published in, and how she fared at a recent chili cook-off.

RELATED: All About Reba McEntire’s Famed Sweet Potato Casserole — with a Twist

Reba McEntire’s “Hot ‘n’ Spicy Chunky Beef Chili” recipe is a classic

While some chili recipes use ground beef and beans, McEntire omits both. The Queen of Country’s recipe, according to Oklahoma City media outlet The Lost Ogle, calls for lean boneless beef chuck cut into pieces, making the dish “chunky.”

McEntire’s chili recipe is also extra spicy as she uses several tablespoons of chili powder and crushed red pepper pods. She also uses garlic, chopped onion, canned plum tomatoes, and green bell pepper. When it’s ready to serve, McEntire recommends topping the chili with sliced green onions and cheddar cheese. Specifically, from Watonga, an Oklahoma-based cheese factory.

You can find the full recipe for McEntire’s “Hot ‘n’ Spicy Chunky Beef Chili” via The Lost Ogle or in a copy of The Oklahoma Celebrity Cookbook.

Reba McEntire’s chili recipe was published in a ‘90s celebrity cookbook

In 1991, McEntire’s chili recipe was published in The Oklahoma Celebrity Cookbook, which also featured recipes from country star Garth Brooks and actor Chuck Norris. Brooks shared his recipe for cabbage rolls while Norris contributed his white enchilada recipe

McEntire is very proud of her Oklahoma roots. The country superstar was born in McAlester, Oklahoma in 1955 and was raised on her family’s ranch in Atoka County.

Speaking to local Oklahoma City TV station News 9, McEntire talked about how she’s grateful for her upbringing. “I lived on a working cattle ranch all of my life. I was one of Daddy’s hired hands, and I was paid by room and board,” she said in 2024. “So it was a rough way of life, but it taught me a lot.”

Nowadays, McEntire owns a restaurant in Atoka, Oklahoma called Reba’s Place, where you can order a bowl of her “Cowboy Chili.”

RELATED: All About Reba McEntire’s Restaurant Reba’s Place

McEntire is definitely proud to be an Oklahoman. “It’s the people. I love Oklahoma, the heritage, the history, everything about it I love,” she told News 9, adding, “Except the tornadoes.”

Reba McEntire lost a chili cook off judged by her boyfriend Rex Linn

In January 2024, McEntire and her Happy’s Place co-star and boyfriend, Rex Linn, hosted their third annual “Hillbilly Chili Cook Off” — and The Voice Coach came in last place.

“Well, for some reason, I guess I left out all the spices,” McEntire told CBS Mornings about the contest. “But man, I was dumping chili powder and hatch green chilis in there. And I thought, ‘Man, this is going to do it.’ It was from a Texas recipe. I was so excited.”

McEntire said she was shocked she didn’t win, as the Judges put on their “kid gloves” to let her know the results. “Rex was one of the Judges, and he came and whispered it in my ear. He said, ‘I’m so sorry.’ [I said], ‘Are you gonna tell me who won?’ [He said,] ‘Well, it’s not you.’ So he handed me the trophy, and it was a chili pepper in the toilet,” McEntire told CBS Mornings. “And so mine took a dump.”

It should be noted McEntire said she made “a Texas recipe” for the cook off, and not her “Hot ‘n’ Spicy Chunky Beef Chili” recipe. As they say, don’t mess with a classic.

Winter is the perfect time for cozying up with a warm bowl of chili, and Reba McEntire’s “Chunky” Chili recipe is just the ticket. This hearty and flavorful chili is packed with ground beef, beans, tomatoes, and a mix of seasonings that will warm you up from the inside out.

To make Reba’s Chunky Chili, you’ll need:

    – 1 pound ground beef
    – 1 onion, chopped
    – 1 green bell pepper, chopped
    – 2 cloves garlic, minced
    – 1 can (14.5 ounces) diced tomatoes
    – 1 can (15 ounces) kidney beans, drained and rinsed
    – 1 can (15 ounces) pinto beans, drained and rinsed
    – 1 can (15 ounces) black beans, drained and rinsed
    – 1 can (6 ounces) tomato paste
    – 2 cups beef broth
    – 2 tablespoons chili powder
    – 1 teaspoon cumin
    – 1 teaspoon paprika
    – Salt and pepper, to taste

To make the chili, start by browning the ground beef in a large pot over medium heat. Add the onion, bell pepper, and garlic, and cook until the vegetables are softened. Stir in the diced tomatoes, beans, tomato paste, beef broth, chili powder, cumin, paprika, salt, and pepper. Bring the chili to a simmer, then reduce the heat to low and let it cook for about 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Serve Reba McEntire’s Chunky Chili hot with your favorite toppings, such as shredded cheese, sour cream, or chopped green onions. This chili is perfect for warming up on a cold winter day and is sure to become a family favorite. Enjoy!
