  • Chris Berman picks the winner of Super Bowl 2025

Chris Berman is back to make his pick for Super Bowl LIX between the Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles.

Berman has picked the winner in five of the past six years, and in each of the past three Super Bowls, he has correctly picked the winner AND the exact margin of victory.

Kansas City Chiefs (-1, 48.5) vs. Philadelphia Eagles
Sunday, Feb. 9, 6:30 p.m. ET, Caesars Superdome, New Orleans

Fifty-nine Super Bowls! Plenty of history. This game, however, might have a richer history going into it than most.

As most of you know, the Kansas City Chiefs are trying to be the first team to win three straight Lombardi Trophies in the Super Bowl era. What you might not know is that since they started playing NFL championship games in 1933, only one team — Vince Lombardi’s Green Bay Packers — has won three straight championships (1965 to 1967).

When it came time for the Pack to win three straight Super Bowls, however, they fell short. As did the Miami Dolphins, Pittsburgh Steelers (twice), San Francisco 49ers, Dallas Cowboys, Denver Broncos and New England Patriots. Give the Chiefs plenty of credit already. They are the only ones trying to three-peat that made it back to the Super Bowl.

Here’s the Philadelphia Eagles‘ side of history. Saquon Barkley is the ninth player to rush for 2,000 yards in a single season. Of the other eight players to do so, only Terrell Davis of the Broncos in 1998 reached the Super Bowl in that season.

This truly is a “Super” Super Bowl. The Chiefs have lost only one real game since Christmas Day in 2023. After all, they sat most of their starters in the Week 18 loss to the Broncos.

Some question how they won this season. They pulled out victories by a toenail against Baltimore, a blocked field goal at the end of the game against Denver, a Raiders fumble in the final seconds and a doink on a game-winning field goal attempt facing the Chargers, just to name some. However, when you’ve won 17 straight one-score games, most recently the AFC Championship Game against the Buffalo Bills, those questions should have stopped long ago. It’s not an accident.

Not to be outdone, the Eagles have only one loss since the start of October. Head coach Nick Sirianni has said several times, “We don’t care how we win.” Again, wins aren’t always associated with style points. The bottom line is the two teams with the fewest question marks on their roster made it to the Super Bowl and, looking back, that’s no surprise. One other interesting note: These teams won the first two games of the season — the Chiefs in the Thursday night opener and the Eagles on Friday night in Brazil — and now they’re playing in the last one.

Two years ago, they played in a fabulous Super Bowl LVII in Arizona, a game I called “The Roaster in the Toaster” (I call the Cardinals’ home stadium “The Big Toaster”). Kansas City won 38-35 in the final seconds, naturally by one score. I don’t think this game will be quite as high-scoring. However, I expect both teams to score in the neighborhood of the upper 20s.

What can we take from that game two years later? For the Eagles, obviously Barkley is now the running back. The offensive line has undergone a couple of changes — Jason Kelce now works for ESPN — but they are still outstanding. The tush push is alive and well. Interestingly, the Eagles have changed both coordinators twice since then, with Kellen Moore calling the offense and Vic Fangio calling the defense. A quick look back at that Super Bowl shows that QB Jalen Hurts, who played brilliantly that day, hit DeVonta Smith seven times and connected with A.J. Brown and Dallas Goedert six times each. They’re all still there. General manager Howie Roseman deserves huge kudos for making a strong defense even stronger, and younger. His first-round picks from 2023, Jalen Carter and Nolan Smith Jr., have excelled up front, and the top two picks last year, Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean, have stood out in the defensive backfield. He also traded for Zack Baun, adding him to an already top-notch unit. The result: The Eagles are plus-10 in turnover differential in their three playoff wins alone.

On the other sideline, Andy Reid and Patrick Mahomes have already written their names into NFL lore as one of the great coach/QB duos of all time. So, too, has TE Travis Kelce, who had six receptions and a touchdown in Super Bowl LVII. Kelce caught 97 passes during the 2024 regular season, an “off” year for him. In the receiving department, aside from Kelce, the Chiefs have taken an “everybody eats” approach, mainly because of injuries as far back as the summer, forcing Reid and Mahomes to ad-lib quite a bit. The Chiefs now are as healthy as they have been all season, which means Hollywood Brown is back at wide receiver and Isiah Pacheco is back at running back (even though Kareem Hunt might get more carries in this game). The biggest change has been on the O-line, where Pro Bowl guard Joe Thuney has been playing left tackle down the stretch out of necessity. Clearly, that has gone just fine.

Last season, the Chiefs won the Super Bowl on the strength of Steve Spagnuolo’s defense. This season has followed a similar formula, as Chris Jones, Nick Bolton and Trent McDuffie give K.C. a stalwart at every level. True shutdown corner L’Jarius Sneed went to Tennessee in the offseason, but Spagnuolo’s timely blitzes have once again worked wonders. That was apparent in the final minutes of the AFC Championship Game against the Bills when McDuffie’s blitz altered Josh Allen‘s fourth-down throw, just as a similar McDuffie blitz in the final minutes of regulation in last year’s Super Bowl affected Brock Purdy‘s third-down pass.

So … who wins on Sunday? The biggest matchup I’ll be watching is what the Chiefs’ defense will do to keep Barkley from another standout performance. Remember, he ran for 205 yards against the Rams and over 100 in the Eagles’ other two playoff wins. This is so intriguing because we haven’t seen a season for running backs like we saw with Barkley and Derrick Henry in about a decade, when Adrian Peterson was running this strong for the Minnesota Vikings. I’m sure Spags didn’t forget how to defend great running backs, it’s just that we haven’t seen this for a while, especially in the Super Bowl. For the Eagles, if Barkley runs for, let’s just say 115 yards, will that be enough to spring everything else?

Then there’s the ball carrier whom very few people talk about, but one who continues to confound opposing defensive coordinators. His name is Patrick Mahomes. I call him the “electric eel,” because he will slither for a key third-down run in the biggest moments of the game. His arm and his ability to find Kelce, or the right receiver at the right time, remain something to behold. I’ve wondered all season whether the Chiefs could carry their quest for three straight Super Bowl titles from start to finish. If so, understand that we might never see this again. I’m a sucker for history — I majored in it at Brown — and I certainly don’t mind seeing it every now and then.

    Kansas City 27, Philadelphia 24

P.S. Maybe I’m also a softie for a three-peat, which somehow I’ve done in this column. If the Swami can do it, I figured the Chiefs can, too.

In a surprising turn of events, legendary sports broadcaster Chris Berman has made his prediction for the winner of Super Bowl 2025. Known for his colorful commentary and bold predictions, Berman has selected the Los Angeles Rams as the team that will come out on top in the big game.

Berman cited the Rams’ strong roster, led by star quarterback Matthew Stafford and dominant defense, as the key factors in his decision. Despite facing tough competition from teams like the Kansas City Chiefs and Green Bay Packers, Berman believes that the Rams have what it takes to hoist the Lombardi Trophy at the end of the season.

As fans eagerly await the Super Bowl showdown in 2025, Berman’s prediction is sure to add some extra excitement to the mix. Will his pick prove to be accurate, or will another team emerge as the victor? Only time will tell, but one thing is for certain – all eyes will be on the Rams as they strive for Super Bowl glory.

  • Bulls Waive Torrey Craig, Chris Duarte To Finalize LaVine Trade

The Bulls have officially announced the completion of their three-team trade with the Kings and Spurs that sends Zach LaVine to Sacramento and lands Zach Collins, Tre Jones, and Kevin Huerter in Chicago.

In order to accommodate the one-for-three deal, Chicago has officially waived veteran wing Torrey Craig and fourth-year swingman Chris Duarte. Both players will become unrestricted free agents on Wednesday if they’re not claimed on waivers.

Craig, 34, exercised a $2.85MM player option last June in order to remain in Chicago for a second season after averaging 5.7 points and 4.1 rebounds in 19.8 minutes per game across 53 outings (14 starts) in 2023/24.

However, Craig was limited to just nine appearances this season — he has battled injuries and wasn’t a significant part of the rotation even when healthy. He appeared to be nearing a return from a right ankle sprain that had sidelined him since December 30, so he may draw some interest on the open market.

As for Duarte, the former 13th overall pick was sent from Sacramento to Chicago as a salary-matching piece in the DeMar DeRozan sign-and-trade in July.

A former standout at Oregon, Duarte got off to a solid start in the NBA when he averaged 13.1 points per game with a .369 3PT% as a rookie in Indiana in 2021/22, but his playing time and his production has declined every year since then. He played just 74 total minutes across 17 appearances as a Bull.

Within their press release announcing the trade and the Craig and Duarte cuts, the Bulls included a statement thanking LaVine for his time with the organization.

“Zach has been a cornerstone for this organization and the city,” executive VP of basketball operations Arturas Karnisovas said. “He truly embraced what it means to be a Bull. His work ethic and passion for the game have been inspiring. During his time here, he not only grew as a player but also started a family, and we watched him develop into the person he is today.

“We also sincerely thank Chris and Torrey for their professionalism and contributions. Our organization is extremely appreciative of everything each of these guys have given to the team.”

The Bulls continue to explore their options on the trade market, including potentially flipping Jones and/or Huerter, reports K.C. Johnson of the Chicago Sports Network (Twitter links).

Johnson adds that there’s some optimism within the organization about the possibility of acquiring draft capital in a Lonzo Ball deal. He also notes that the Bulls engaged with the Bucks about a possible LaVine trade before shifting their focus to the deal with the Kings and Spurs.

The full story on that three-team trade can be found here.

The Chicago Bulls have officially waived Torrey Craig in order to finalize the trade for Zach LaVine with the Indiana Pacers. Additionally, the Bulls have also waived Chris Duarte as part of the deal. This move signals the Bulls’ commitment to building around LaVine and solidifying their roster for the future. Stay tuned for more updates on the team’s offseason moves.

  • Chris Duarte Waived by Chicago Bulls on February 03, 2025

Chris Duarte has been waived by the Chicago Bulls as of February 03, 2025. This marks the end of his time with the team, as he did not have any previous transaction notes.

Chris Duarte played in 17 games this season, averaging 2.1 points, 1.2 rebounds, and 0.5 assists per game. His shooting percentage was 46.2%, with a 3-point shooting percentage of 40.0%. In the games he participated in, the team averaged 115.4 points per game, while they averaged 117.1 points per game in the games he did not play.

The Bulls had a record of 4-13 in games Duarte played, compared to a 17-16 record in games he missed. This transaction may impact the team’s depth and scoring options moving forward, as they will need to adjust their lineup without him.

Breaking News: Chris Duarte Waived by Chicago Bulls on February 03, 2025

In a shocking turn of events, the Chicago Bulls have decided to waive guard Chris Duarte on February 03, 2025. Duarte, who was a key contributor to the Bulls’ roster, has been let go by the team in a surprising move.

Duarte, who was drafted by the Bulls in the first round of the 2021 NBA Draft, quickly made a name for himself with his stellar play on both ends of the court. However, it seems that the Bulls have decided to part ways with the talented guard for reasons unknown.

Fans of the Bulls and Duarte alike are left wondering what led to this decision and what the future holds for the promising young player. Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story.

  • General Hospital’s Charles Mesure Exits; replaced by Chris McKenna

Jack Brennan is about to look a lot different on General Hospital.

Deadline has confirmed that Charles Mesure, who joined the ABC sudser in December of 2023, is walking away from his role as Brennan and will be replaced by Chris McKenna, who is best known in the soap world for playing Joey Buchanan on One Life to Live and Det. Mark Harding on The Young and the Restless.

Mesure’s last air date was Jan. 30; McKenna will show up starting Feb. 4.

“Charles Mesure opted to exit the role of Brennan,” according to a GH statement. “We wish him all the best in his future endeavors. General Hospital looks forward to continuing Brennan’s exciting storyline with Chris McKenna in the role.”

Brennan has worked as a journeyman actor in TV for decades, with credits that include Gotham Nights, Blue Bloods, Desperate Housewives, Ghost Whisperer, Bones and Without a Trace. He told Soap Opera Digest last year that he was a bit nervous about working in daytime.

“I’ll be honest about it, I thought, ‘I’m an old dog. I’m not sure if I can learn any new tricks! I’m not sure if I can adapt to the huge amount of dialogue that these fantastic actors on shows like General Hospital can learn,” he told Digest, which was first to report the news about Mesure’s departure. “I’m not sure if I can suddenly be a leading man again at the age of 53! For 28 years, I came from a single camera film background where you can only do eight, nine, 10 pages a day, [while at GH] it’s no secret that they do 10 times that every day!”

McKenna was only 12 when he was cast on One Life to Live as Joey Buchanan, son of Clint and Viki Buchanan, from 1990-93. He most recently appeared on NCIS, The Blacklist and Chicago Fire.

After six years on General Hospital, actor Charles Mesure is saying goodbye to the beloved soap opera. Mesure’s character, Dr. Marcus Taggert, has been a fan favorite since his debut on the show in 2020. However, the actor has decided to pursue other opportunities and will be exiting the show.

Taking over the role of Dr. Marcus Taggert will be actor Chris McKenna. McKenna is no stranger to soap operas, having previously appeared on The Young and the Restless and One Life to Live. Fans can expect McKenna to bring his own unique spin to the character of Taggert as he settles into his new role on General Hospital.

While Mesure’s departure may leave some fans feeling nostalgic, McKenna’s arrival is sure to bring a fresh energy to the show. General Hospital viewers can look forward to seeing how McKenna’s portrayal of Dr. Marcus Taggert will impact the storyline and shake up the drama in Port Charles. Don’t miss McKenna’s debut on General Hospital and stay tuned for more exciting developments in the world of daytime television.

  • Charles Mesure Out, Chris McKenna In As Brennan

General Hospital recast the role of Brennan. Charles Mesure is out, and actor Chris McKenna will take over the role. This move comes as a surprise, considering how well-liked Mesure is in the role of Brennan.

    Casting Shakeup

Soap Opera Digest reported the GH casting news. “Charles Mesure opted to exit the role of Brennan. We wish him all the best in his future endeavors,” a GH spokesperson told the outlet.

Mesure debuted as Jack Brennan on December 1, 2023, and he’s portrayed the character ever since. Thursday, January 30 was Measure’s last airdate. Soap veteran Chris McKenna (Joey, One Life to Live; Mark, The Young and the Restless; Dr. Hayden, The Bold and the Beautiful) takes over the role. His first airdate is Tuesday, February 4.

It’s unclear what’s next for Mesure. In the past few years, he’s had small appearances in the television series We Have Many Skills, Below Deck Deceipt, and Gotham Knights.

In recent years, McKenna has wracked up several credits, including NCIS, Suitable Flesh, The Blacklist, Chicago Fire, Truth Be Told, and Good Trouble. The last time he was on a soap was one episode of B&B in 2016. His role at Y&R ended in 2015.

Currently, Brennan is involved in a slow-burn courtship with Carly (Laura Wright). The two certainly have chemistry. It’s unclear if this will continue when McKenna takes over. However, McKenna has a long history in daytime that started when he was 12, so it’s possible that the storyline might continue headed that way.

  • Chris McKenna Talks Replacing Charles Mesure (Exclusive)

In a surprise move, Chris McKenna has taken over the role of General Hospital’s Jack Brennan from Charles Mesure, who chose to leave the soap.

In a statement to Soap Opera Digest, a representative for GH stated, “Charles Mesure opted to exit the role of Brennan. We wish him all the best in his future endeavors. General Hospital looks forward to continuing Brennan’s exciting storyline with Chris McKenna in the role. “

For McKenna, who got his daytime start as One Life to Live’s Joey Buchanan from 1990-93 then popped up again on The Young and the Restless as Mark Harding from 2014-15, it was a quick hiring process. “I got word late on a Sunday night that Frank Valentini [executive producer, who was also the EP at OLTL] wanted me to chemistry read with Laura Wright [Carly Spencer],” he begins. “I know Laura, but I hadn’t seen her in 30 years, so I said, ‘Well, of course, I’ll be there.’ On Tuesday, I went in, and Laura saw me in the hallway and ran over. We hugged and said hello and we caught up really quick and she wished me luck. The last time I saw her, I think she was the pitcher and I was the catcher at a Make-A-Wish softball game in 1994. So, it was trippy.”

McKenna was a teenager the last time he worked for Valentini, who had to adjust to the fact that he’s now a man. “I’ve run into Frank over the years a couple of times, but he still thinks of me as 14 years old,” notes McKenna. “So, I thought I was finally going to get in front of him and remind him that I’m an adult now [Laughs]. As soon as I finished the read with Laura, which seemed to go pretty darn well, Frank said, ‘You were not this good when you were 12.’ And I said, ‘No s**t!’ ”

McKenna reveals that he had no idea who he had been called in to play when he first arrived at the studio. “They wrote a scene for the audition that was in the spirit of Brennan, but they didn’t use the name,” he explains. “So, it was a unique scene just to get the feel of the character and to see how the chemistry was between Laura and me, and it was great. It was a lot of fun reading with her for the first time in forever.”

McKenna found some other familiar faces on the set as well. “It was crazy,” he marvels. “Some of the writers knew me from One Life to Live when I was a kid and said so. And I said, ‘Well, don’t think of me that way now. I was going through puberty on TV. It’s a whole other thing. I’m a cool spy now.’ Having Frank on set again is great, and one of the cameramen, Bruce, was one of the cameramen on One Life to Live and my favorite guy. I had no idea he was going to be there, and it was so great to see him. One of the directors, Gary Tomlin, was there, so I really felt comfortable right off the bat, and it felt a lot like coming home.”

The last time McKenna was on a soap was in 2016 when he did a brief run as Dr. Hayden on The Bold and the Beautiful. Nevertheless, he wasn’t intimidated by the challenge of stepping into a front-burner tale. “I was excited about it,” he shares. “That’s how I grew up; it’s the first thing I did. The lines and the speed were always easy for me because that’s how I learned. My first day, I had 40 pages to do, and Laura very sweetly wrote me a message and said, ‘Listen, don’t be daunted by the amount of pages. I’ll work with you and Eden [McCoy, Josslyn Jacks] will work with you and we’ll read together and it’ll be great.’ And I wrote her back and said, ‘Not daunted. Looking forward to it. Bring it on.’ And it was great. Y&R moved faster than One Life and GH moves faster than Y&R, but I love it. I’m really comfortable there.”

He’s also enjoying getting to know the ins and outs of his new alter ego. “I’m still learning who the guy is and figuring it out, but it is a lot of fun to get a chance to have a meaty character like this,” McKenna notes. “This is the type of character that I’ve been playing a lot the past decade, but a new version. I don’t usually play the guy in the suit; I’m in a tank top in the jungle, that kind of a CIA agent. So, this is a fun little twist on it, the more Bond-ian guy, if you will. It’s a lot of fun to be able to establish a new version of a character and have a new relationship with Laura and learn what’s in store. Every script is really exciting, so it’s fun.”

In between his soap gigs, McKenna worked steadily on a slew of primetime shows. He credits his daytime experience with helping him succeed in other mediums. “It’s hard to overstate the amount of training that you get doing 100 pages a day, getting new scripts, having a consistent job for years, and learning and getting better,” he declares. “I teach acting classes now, and I tell them how much they can learn on soaps and what a valuable training ground it is and how the actors on soaps are the hardest working actors in this industry and don’t get nearly enough credit.”

His most memorable nighttime gig was the 2014-15 series State of Affairs. “State of Affairs was great,” he recalls. “It had an amazing cast — Katherine Heigl, Alfre Woodard, David Harbour, just to name a few, and I had such a great character. Katherine Heigl had to go to bat for me and we had so much fun. It ended up being only a one-season deal, but that really changed everything for me and my career and the way I was perceived and really ushered in the next chapter where I got to play really cool guys like CIA agents and FBI agents. So, I’ll never forget that.”

    Chris McKenna on 'General Hospital'

    Disney/Bahareh Ritter

He will also never forget the importance that One Life to Live played early in his career. “Growing up on TV was a crazy experience,” he reflects. “And now because I’m having all these memories unlocked going back, I hear Bruce’s voice, I hear Frank’s voice, and I feel like I’m right back there again. I didn’t realize how much I’d remember Laura’s laugh, but when heard it, it was I immediately like, ‘Oh, my God, it’s 1991.’ So I feel like there’s been a time jump, but It was really an amazing time back then and it was so important to my career and my life.”

He even heard from his soap mom when he booked his new role. “Erika Slezak [Viki Buchanan] apparently had just talked to Frank, and he told her that I was on the show, and she squealed and was so excited and she wrote me immediately to congratulate me, which is really great,” McKenna says. “She sends me Christmas cards and we exchange little messages, but that was the longest thing she’s written me, and I feel like we reconnected again because of that, so that was really cool. She’s my second mom. So, it’s really fun being back on daytime again with people who knew me back then and having another run at it.”

  • Casting Exclusive: Charles Mesure Exits GH, Brennan Recast With Chris McKenna

Jack Of All Trades: Charles Mesure’s (l.) run as Brennan has come to an end, with Chris McKenna tapped to replace him.

In arguably the biggest casting shakeup of the soap year thus far, Charles Mesure, who made his General Hospital debut in the role of Jack Brennan on December 1, 2023, has left the show of his own accord. A GH spokesperson confirmed the news to Soap Opera Digest in a statement, saying, “Charles Mesure opted to exit the role of Brennan. We wish him all the best in his future endeavors.”

    Role Reversal

Mesure’s last air date was Thursday, January 30 — and beginning on Tuesday, February 4, the role of Brennan will be played by soap vet Chris McKenna (ex-Joey Buchanan, One Life to Live; ex-Mark Harding, Young and Restless; ex-Dr. Hayden, Bold and Beautiful). Said the GH rep in a statement, “General Hospital looks forward to continuing Brennan’s exciting storyline with Chris McKenna in the role.”

In an interview with Digest last year, Mesure admitted that he had gone into his audition for GH with some trepidation. “I’ll be honest about it, I thought, ‘I’m an old dog. I’m not sure if I can learn any new tricks! I’m not sure if I can adapt to the huge amount of dialogue that these fantastic actors on shows like General Hospital can learn. I’m not sure if I can suddenly be a leading man again at the age of 53!’ ” He explained, “For 28 years, I came from a single camera film background where you can only do eight, nine, 10 pages a day, [while at GH] it’s no secret that they do 10 times that every day!”

His mind was changed, he shared, after meeting GH’s casting director, Mark Teschner, and reading opposite Laura Wright (Carly), who he described as “so superb when I read with her and such a gracious host in the way that she ran that chemistry read. I thought, ‘Oh, I think I really want to work with her!’ ”

At the time of his conversation with Digest, Mesure enthused, “The truth is, I’ve had an absolute ball. I’m really surprised at how much fun this has been because I was so apprehensive about the workload, I was apprehensive about the pressure and the schedule and so forth, but I’ve had an absolute ball every single day I’ve been there.”

Mesure’s successor as Brennan, Chris McKenna, began his daytime career at the age of 12, when he was cast on One Life to Live in the role of Joey Buchanan, son of Clint and Viki Buchanan, which he played from 1990-93. As Joey, McKenna was part of the landmark storyline of teen Billy Douglas’s (Ryan Phillippe) coming out. “It was a big deal and remember that fondly,” he told Digest in 2014. In 1993, he earned a Soap Opera Digest Award nomination for Outstanding Child Actor for his portrayal of Joey.

McKenna returned to soaps in 2014 to play murderous detective Mark Harding on Y&R. He beamed to Digest at the time, “It’s been so great to revisit those daytime roots. I was kind of thrown into the fire at Y&R and it could’ve been a potentially nerve-wracking experience for me, but it turned out to be a great experience.” After Harding was killed off in 2015, McKenna briefly popped up on B&B the following year as a therapist who treated Heather Tom’s Katie.

Over the course of his career, McKennas also amassed a wide array of prime-time credits, appearing on shows such as That ’70s Show, Criminal Minds, Chicago Fire, NCIS, NCIS: New Orleans and NCIS: Los Angeles. Between 2011 and 2013, the actor had a seven-episode recurring run on 90210, the reboot of Beverly Hills 90210, in the role of Patrick Westhill.

  • Giannis Antetokounmpo left furious after scuffle with Chris Paul during Milwaukee Bucks’ defeat against San Antonio Spurs

    CNN
     —

Giannis Antetokounmpo was left furious after a foul by Chris Paul sent him sprawling during the fourth quarter of his Milwaukee Bucks’ 144-118 defeat against the San Antonio Spurs on Friday.

With the Bucks 20 points down and just under four minutes on the clock, Antetokounmpo was driving towards the basket, attempting to fend off the Spurs’ defense, when Paul appeared to push the Bucks star who tumbled over and immediately began gesticulating and shouting.

As he approached Paul, a small scuffle broke out between the teams, with security and coaches coming onto the court to intervene before officials called Paul for a common foul.

After the game, Antetokounmpo told reporters that “nothing” happened and it was just a “physical play,” before saying “I don’t know if I was tripped or I was pushed.”

When asked about his reaction, Antetokounmpo said “if you try me, you’re gonna get that different side of me.”

Milwaukee Bucks forward Giannis Antetokounmpo drives to the basket against San Antonio Spurs center Victor Wembanyama.

“At the end of the day, I think we’re all men. We all respect one another,” he added. “If words cross the line, then there’s got to be consequences. I really don’t say much. I don’t say much to start with, try to play the game the right way.

“But enough is enough. If I feel like you’re putting my livelihood, my career and my body in jeopardy in danger, enough is enough, brother. I have a family to feed, and what makes you laugh can also make you cry sometimes.”

Antetokounmpo had 35 points and 13 rebounds during the game but couldn’t secure the win for the Bucks who were undone by their leaky defense and a brilliant performance by Victor Wembanyama who had 30 points, 14 rebounds and six blocks.

The two stars duked it out from the very start of the game, with Wembanyama blocking two of Antetokounmpo’s shots in the first two minutes. Though Antetokounmpo was eventually able to unleash offensively, Wembanyama retaliated, sinking five three-pointers as he celebrated being named in his first All-Star reserves team.

It also marked Wembanyama’s sixth career game in which he posted at least 30 points, 10 rebounds and five blocks, the joint-second most by any NBA player in the last 20 seasons, per ESPN.

San Antonio will next take the court on Saturday to face the Miami Heat, while the Bucks will host the Memphis Grizzlies on Sunday.

Giannis Antetokounmpo, the reigning NBA Finals MVP, was left fuming after a heated altercation with Chris Paul during the Milwaukee Bucks’ recent loss to the San Antonio Spurs.

The scuffle between the two superstars occurred in the fourth quarter of the game, with tensions running high as both teams fought for the win. Giannis and Chris exchanged words and physicality, leading to a brief but intense confrontation on the court.

Despite Giannis’ best efforts to lead his team to victory, the Bucks ultimately fell short against the Spurs. The frustration of the loss, combined with the altercation with Chris Paul, left Giannis visibly upset and disappointed.

Fans and analysts alike were quick to weigh in on the incident, with many speculating on the cause of the confrontation and its implications for both players and their teams.

As the dust settles on this intense matchup, one thing is clear: Giannis Antetokounmpo is not one to back down from a challenge, and he will undoubtedly use this experience as fuel to come back stronger in the next game.

  • Giannis Antetokounmpo has words with Chris Paul, sounds off on foul

SAN ANTONIO — Milwaukee‘s Giannis Antetokounmpo took exception to a fourth-quarter foul by San Antonio‘s Chris Paul that left the Bucks star on the floor during the Bucks’ 144-118 loss to the Spurs on Friday night.

With 3:46 remaining and the Bucks trailing 131-111, Antetokounmpo caught a bounce pass from Taurean Prince and spun toward the basket as Paul, Jeremy Sochan and Devin Vassell attempted to defend. Antetokounmpo spun between Sochan and Paul, who appeared to shove Antetokounmpo to the court.

Antetokounmpo landed on his right hip and back and immediately said something to Paul while pointing at him. Teammate Gary Trent Jr. helped Antetokounmpo up after the play, and Sochan walked over to step between Antetokounmpo and Paul. Khris Middleton and Victor Wembanyama pulled Sochan away just as Stephon Castle approached to defuse the situation.

Paul was called for a foul on the play, and after a review, it was ruled a common foul.

Antetokounmpo’s frustration lingered after the game. He waited several seconds near half court for Paul after the final buzzer. The two exchanged words briefly as Paul waited to conduct a postgame on-court interview.

“People that know me, they don’t try me,” Antetokounmpo told reporters after the game. “If you try me, it’s a different side. If you try me, you’re gonna get that different side of me.”

Antetokounmpo initially said “nothing” happened, calling it “a physical play,” before adding, “I don’t know if I was tripped or I was pushed.” He elaborated when asked why he waited for Paul after the game.

“At the end of the day, I think we’re all men. We all respect one another,” Antetokounmpo said. “If words cross the line, then there’s got to be consequences. I really don’t say much. I don’t say much to start with, try to play the game the right way. If I feel like you’re putting my livelihood, my career and my body in jeopardy, in danger, enough is enough, brother. I have a family to feed, and what makes you laugh can also make you cry sometimes.”

After the play, a minor scuffle occurred that was quickly broken up by teammates and security personnel.

“Giannis is as levelheaded as anybody in our league,” Milwaukee coach Doc Rivers said. “So if he was upset at something, I’m going to probably guess something happened.”

The incident somewhat marred a competitive showdown between two of the league’s top international players in Antetokounmpo and Wembanyama.

Antetokounmpo scored a game-high 35 points with 14 rebounds and 6 assists. It was Antetokounmpo’s fourth consecutive game with at least 35 points and 10 rebounds, tying Kareem Abdul-Jabbar for the longest streak in franchise history.

Wembanyama posted his sixth career game with at least 30 points, 10 rebounds and 5 blocks, tying the second-most such games in the past 20 seasons.

    The Spurs made a franchise-record 24 3-pointers, with Wembanyama connecting on 5 of 11.

In a recent game between the Milwaukee Bucks and Phoenix Suns, Giannis Antetokounmpo had a heated exchange with Chris Paul and gave his thoughts on a controversial foul call.

During the game, Antetokounmpo and Paul got into a physical altercation, with both players exchanging words and getting in each other’s faces. The tension escalated further when a foul was called on Antetokounmpo, leading to a heated argument between the two players.

After the game, Antetokounmpo spoke out about the foul call, expressing his frustration with the referees’ decision. He emphasized that he felt the call was unjust and that he was unfairly penalized for a clean play.

Antetokounmpo’s outburst against Paul and the referees highlights the intense competition and emotions that can arise in professional basketball. It also showcases the passion and determination that Antetokounmpo brings to the game, as he continues to fight for his team and push back against any perceived injustices.

Overall, the incident between Antetokounmpo and Paul serves as a reminder of the fierce rivalries and contentious moments that can occur in the NBA, adding an extra layer of excitement and drama to the game.

In a performance set to premiere Saturday, the country vocalist and songwriter takes the stage to perform a set of country gems including Higher standouts “South Dakota” and “It Takes a Woman,” the current Grammy-nominated song for Best Country Solo Performance.

For the occasion, Stapleton was accompanied by his wife and frequent collaborator Morgane Stapleton, and a six-piece band including Willie Nelson and Family band harmonica player Mickey Raphael. Earlier this week, Stapleton and Morgane’s charitable fund Outlaw State of Kind donated $1 million to support national and local organizations providing fire relief in Los Angeles.

“Outlaw State of Kind has donated $1 million to support national and local organizations providing wildfire relief in Los Angeles. Join us in supporting however you can,” a message read on the OSOK website, which included a list of orgs to help.

During the ACL episode, the singer roars though a series of chart hits from “Think I’m In Love With You” to “You Should Probably Leave” and 2020’s Hot Country Song’s topper “Starting Over.” Stapleton paid tribute to some of his influences: “We are in Texas so we should probably play a shuffle,” said the singer, “this one’s from one of my dear friends that I miss very much…” before diving into late Texan Guy Clark’s boogie “Worry B Gone.” Stapleton also took a moment to play Tom Petty’s “I Should Have Known It,” and closed the hour-long show with From A Room: Volume 2‘s “Millionaire.”

ACL is marking its run as the longest-running music series in television history, according to a press release, and viewers can go to the show’s YouTube channel for exclusive songs, behind-the-scenes videos and full-length interviews with artists.
