  • Chris Hemsworth & Tom Holland’s 10-Year-Old Sea Story Arrives on Netflix

Chris Hemsworth & Tom Holland’s 10-Year-Old Sea Story Arrives on Netflix

An overlooked Tom Holland movie has just arrived on Netflix. Co-starring Chris Hemsworth, In the Heart of the Sea is now available to stream on the platform.

Released in 2015, In the Heart of the Sea is based on Nathaniel Philbrick’s 2000 non-fiction book In the Heart of the Sea: The Tragedy of the Whaleship Essex, which detailed the sinking of the American whaling ship Essex in 1820. The event is notable for serving as inspiration for the beloved 1851 novel Moby-Dick, written by Herman Melville, who appears in the movie, played by Ben Whishaw. Hemsworth stars as Essex first mate Owen Chase, with Holland appearing as cabin boy Thomas Nickerson. Brendan Gleeson stars as an older Nickerson who recounts the sinking of the Essex to Whishaw’s Melville.

Chris Hemsworth’s Horror-Comedy Film With 92% Rotten Tomatoes Score Gets Free Streaming Home

One of the most critically acclaimed horror films of the past two decades is heading to a new streaming home for the new year.

Acclaimed filmmaker Ron Howard directed and co-produced In the Heart of the Sea from a screenplay written by Charles Leavitt, based on a story by Leavitt, Rick Jaffa, and Amanda Silver. Benjamin Walker, Cillian Murphy, and Michelle Fairley round out the ensemble for the historical adventure movie. Despite boasting an all-star cast and an Oscar-winning director, In the Heart of the Sea was a major flop at the box office, grossing just $94.3 million worldwide, which was not enough to recoup its $100 million production budget.

In the Heart of the Sea Indirectly Helped Tom Holland Become the MCU’s Spider-Man

Despite being released in December 2015, six months after Holland was cast as Peter Parker/Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, production on In the Heart of the Sea began way back in September 2013. Although Hemsworth was not part of the cast for Captain America: Civil War, the MCU movie that Holland debuted in as Spider-Man, the actor previously shared with Entertainment Tonight that he was still instrumental in helping the young actor land the iconic superhero role.

“I mean, look, we worked on In the Heart of the Sea together, obviously, then through Avengers and as they were casting him for Spider-Man, I did what I could do and made a call,” he revealed in 2019. “[I] said he’s one of the most talented people I’ve worked with and has such a big heart and appreciation. I don’t know, we have a great friendship, it’s a good mutual respect.”

Universal Reveals Title and Details of Christopher Nolan’s Next Movie Starring Tom Holland

Universal official reveals the title and story details of Christopher Nolan’s next movie.

Despite Hemsworth and Holland’s friendship, the two actors have yet to share the screen in an MCU movie. While they both appeared in Avengers: Infinity War (2018) and Avengers: Endgame (2019), they did not share a scene together. However, this could change as both actors are expected to appear in the forthcoming Avengers sequels Doomsday and Secret Wars, although it is worth noting that neither has been officially confirmed to appear yet.

So far, the only actors Marvel has confirmed for the fifth Avengers movie are the casts of Thunderbolts* and The Fantastic Four: First Steps, as well as Robert Downey Jr., who will be playing Doctor Doom. Chris Evans, Hayley Atwell, Anthony Mackie, and Benedict Cumberbatch have also been reported to be returning for the hotly-anticipated crossover sequel, reprising their respective roles as Steve Rogers/Captain America, Peggy Carter, Sam Wilson/Captain America, and Doctor Stephen Strange.

  • ‘Parks & Recreation’s Chris Pratt Defended Jim O’Heir’s Jerry From Bullying

‘Parks & Recreation’s Chris Pratt Defended Jim O’Heir’s Jerry From Bullying

Parks and Recreation is arguably one of the most wholesome shows from NBC’s phenomenal 2009-2013 sitcom era (which saw the series air alongside The Office, 30 Rock, and Community). The show starred Amy Poehler as Leslie Knope, the overly-optimistic deputy manager of the Pawnee city council’s Parks and Recreation department. While the show is full of feel-good moments, one character is the butt of a good portion of the jokes. And, Chris Pratt (who played the lovable Andy Dwyer in the show) would often have to defend the character, and the actor that played them.

Jim O’Heir, who played Jerry Gergeich in Parks and Rec, detailed Pratt’s valiant behavior in his new book, Welcome to Pawnee: Stories of Friendship, Waffles, and Parks and Recreation. In it, he included a conversation with Pratt, where the pair discussed some of the harsher jokes leveled towards Jerry Gergeich on the show, including many that didn’t make it in. “I remember you, particularly more than some others, being worried about some of the Jerry bits being…mean,” O’Heir said to Pratt in the book. “I remember you saying, ‘Jimmy, you okay with these?’… Do you remember that feeling at all?”

The treatment of Jerry Gergeich is one of Parks and Rec‘s dicier moments for contemporary viewers, as the character was often unfairly bullied as the office’s whipping boy. “I do, I do,” Pratt responded. “I was concerned in some of those moments because I care about you and I love you, and I knew that there were some jokes that were, like, mean. But meaner than they were funny.” Ultimately, showrunner Michael Schur made sure to balance out the nastiness, giving Jerry a beautiful wife (played by Christie Brinkley), three daughters, and, according to a Pawnee doctor, “the largest penis I have ever seen,” which O’Heir has previously joked about being a moment of art imitating life. Pratt continued, saying he wanted to make sure none of the jokes aimed at Jerry crossed any lines. He explained:

“If it’s a joke, it’s funny. But if it’s mean for the sake of being mean, well, I’m not a huge fan of mean-spirited humor, and I just wanted to check in on you.”

Parks and Rec aired on NBC for seven glorious seasons between 2009-2015, during which time countless jokes were made at Jerry’s expense. But, during the conversation, Pratt recalled the one time he had to step in when a joke went too far. “There was one time where I put my foot down on something,” Pratt recalled.

Original Parks & Recs Star Has Conditions For Revival Return

One Parks and Recreation star feels a little skeptical about a possible revival…

The “joke” involved Jerry using the printer, where his colleagues had left a mean message on a sheet of paper for him. For Pratt, the moment was meaner than it was funny, and it had to go. He continued, “There was that time you use the printer, and it says something like, ‘Jerry sucks’ on a piece of paper, and I just said, ‘I don’t think that’s funny. I don’t know about it.’ For the most part, I rolled with it, but there were a couple times where I think it went too far, and I was concerned for you.”

In a heartwarming display of friendship and camaraderie, ‘Parks & Recreation’ star Chris Pratt recently came to the defense of his co-star Jim O’Heir, who played the lovably bumbling Jerry on the hit show.

During a recent interview, Pratt revealed that O’Heir had faced some bullying from fans who couldn’t separate the actor from his character. Pratt, who played the character of Andy on the show, shared that he was appalled by the mistreatment of O’Heir and wanted to set the record straight.

“Jim is one of the kindest, most talented actors I know, and it breaks my heart to see him being treated poorly by fans who can’t distinguish between fiction and reality,” Pratt stated. “Jerry may have been the butt of jokes on the show, but Jim is a beloved member of our ‘Parks & Recreation’ family.”

Pratt went on to urge fans to show O’Heir the respect he deserves and to remember that actors are not their characters. The touching display of solidarity between the two actors is a reminder of the importance of kindness and empathy, both on and offscreen.

  • Chris Pratt thought Parks And Recreation needed to lay off the Jerry jokes a bit

Chris Pratt thought Parks And Recreation needed to lay off the Jerry jokes a bit

Parks And Recreation is perhaps best remembered for its heart. The comedy spent seven seasons following a group of city hall workers in the fictional Pawnee, Indiana and saw them form a makeshift family as they worked together and did their best to improve their community. But pretty much everyone in that office was usually extremely mean to Jerry (Jim O’Heir) for no other reason than habit and he was an easy target. While this is certainly a dynamic that can and does happen in an office setting, it can be rather at-odds with the rest of the show’s messaging.

This fact is not lost on cast member Chris Pratt, who spoke with O’Heir for the latter’s book Welcome to Pawnee: Stories of Friendship, Waffles, and Parks and Recreation. “I remember you, particularly more than some others, being worried about some of the Jerry bits being… mean,” O’Heir recalls in the book (via Entertainment Weekly). “I remember you saying, ‘Jimmy, you okay with these?’… Do you remember that feeling at all?”

Pratt confirmed that he did, and explained, “I was concerned in some of those moments because I care about you and I love you, and I knew that there were some jokes that were, like, mean. But meaner than they were funny. If it’s a joke, it’s funny. But if it’s mean for the sake of being mean, well, I’m not a huge fan of mean-spirited humor, and I just wanted to check in on you.” Pratt recalls at least one concrete example where he put his “foot down.” “There was that time you use the printer and it says something like, ‘Jerry sucks’ on a piece of paper, and I just said, ‘I don’t think that’s funny. I don’t know about it,’” he tells O’Heir. “For the most part, I rolled with it, but there were a couple times where I think it went too far and I was concerned for you.” For his part, O’Heir recalls series lead Amy Poehler also checking in on him at some of the more pointed jabs at his character. “[I]t’s not like I expected everyone to check in on me,” he writes, “but the fact that you did was so special.”

Chris Pratt, who famously portrayed Andy Dwyer on the hit TV show Parks and Recreation, recently opened up about his thoughts on the constant jokes aimed at the character of Jerry Gergich.

In a recent interview, Pratt expressed his belief that the show may have gone a bit too far with the Jerry jokes. He stated, “I love Parks and Rec and I love the character of Jerry, but I think at times the jokes at his expense were a bit much. I think it’s important to remember that these characters are meant to be real people with feelings, and constantly making fun of Jerry’s shortcomings can be a bit harsh.”

Pratt went on to explain that while he understands the comedic value of poking fun at characters, he believes it’s important to strike a balance and show a bit more compassion towards them. He added, “Jerry is a lovable character who, despite his flaws, is a dedicated and hardworking member of the Parks department. I think it’s important to show that side of him as well.”

While Parks and Recreation was known for its humor and quirky characters, it’s refreshing to hear Pratt’s perspective on the matter. It serves as a reminder that even in the world of comedy, it’s important to treat characters with respect and empathy.

Parks and Recreation stars Chris Pratt and Jim O’Heir have recalled the former putting his foot down on various “mean-spirited” jokes made about O’Heir’s character Jerry Gergich.

The two co-starred together on all seven seasons of the hit mockumentary, which followed a group of government workers trying to make a difference in their community in a fictional Indiana town.

Pratt, 45, portrayed the idiotic but lovable Andy Dwyer, while O’Heir, 62, played the kind-hearted office klutz Jerry, who was often the butt of the joke.

In his new book, Welcome to Pawnee: Stories of Friendship, Waffles, and Parks and Recreation, O’Heir includes an excerpt from a previous conversation he had with Pratt.

“I remember you, particularly more than some others, being worried about some of the Jerry bits being… mean,” O’Heir told Pratt. “I remember you saying, ‘Jimmy, you okay with these?’… Do you remember that feeling at all?”

“I do, I do,” Pratt replied. “I was concerned in some of those moments because I care about you and I love you, and I knew that there were some jokes that were, like, mean. But meaner than they were funny. If it’s a joke, it’s funny. But if it’s mean for the sake of being mean, well, I’m not a huge fan of mean-spirited humor, and I just wanted to check in on you.”

The Guardians of the Galaxy actor remembered putting his “foot down” during one scene.

“There was that time you use the printer and it says something like, ‘Jerry sucks’ on a piece of paper, and I just said, ‘I don’t think that’s funny. I don’t know about it,’” Pratt recounted. “For the most part, I rolled with it, but there were a couple times where I think it went too far and I was concerned for you.”

Going on to express his gratitude, O’Heir said: “Just so you know, that meant the world to me. You checked in on me, [Amy Poehler] checked in on me, and it’s not like I expected everyone to check in on me, but the fact that you did was so special.

“You have the biggest heart, and I don’t mean it from a medical perspective,” he added.

In celebration of the 15-year anniversary of the 2009 debut of Parks and Recreation, O’Heir spoke to The Independent, revealing that he had initially auditioned for the role of the mustachioed and straightfaced Ron Swanson, which ultimately went to Nick Offerman.

“I initially auditioned for Ron Swanson but two weeks later, I got a call saying they wanted me to consider auditioning for Jerry,” O’Heir explained.

“My agents didn’t know if I should do it because they’d been told that they didn’t know what was going to happen with this character and they didn’t want me to feel like an extra. I thought, these are the guys who did The Office and I knew what had happened to Kevin, Phyllis, Stanley, Angela. All of those side characters had become major players. For me it was a no-brainer. I said: ‘I’ll risk it.’”

Welcome to Pawnee: Stories of Friendship, Waffles, and Parks and Recreation is out now.

In a recent interview, Chris Pratt revealed that he put a stop to any “mean-spirited” jokes about his Parks and Recreation co-star, Aubrey Plaza. Pratt, who played Andy Dwyer on the hit show, explained that he felt it was important to create a positive and supportive environment on set.

“I just didn’t think it was necessary to make fun of someone in a way that was mean or hurtful,” Pratt said. “Aubrey is such a talented and funny actress, and I wanted to make sure that we were all lifting each other up instead of tearing each other down.”

Pratt’s comments have sparked a conversation about the importance of kindness and respect in the workplace, and many fans have praised him for standing up for Plaza. It’s clear that the bond between the Parks and Recreation cast members goes beyond the screen, and Pratt’s actions serve as a reminder that being a good co-worker means more than just delivering a great performance.

What do you think of Chris Pratt’s decision to shut down “meaner” jokes on set? Let us know in the comments below!

Chris Pratt called out mean ‘Parks and Rec’ jokes about Jim O’Heir

Chris Pratt wasn’t a fan of the mean jokes about Jim O’Heir on “Parks and Recreation.”

The actors had a conversation in O’Heir’s new book, “Welcome to Pawnee: Stories of Friendship, Waffles, and Parks and Recreation,” about Pratt, 45, speaking out against the way O’Heir’s character in the NBC sitcom was taunted.

“I remember you, particularly more than some others, being worried about some of the Jerry bits being…mean,” O’Heir told Pratt, according to Variety.

Pratt and O’Heir played Andy Dwyer and Jerry Gergich, respectively, on “Parks and Rec.”

The show frequently poked fun at O’Heir’s character. Most of Jerry’s colleagues wouldn’t even call him by the right name.

“There was one time where I put my foot down on something,” Pratt said to his co-star in the book. “There was that time you use the printer and it says something like, ‘Jerry sucks’ on a piece of paper, and I just said, ‘I don’t think that’s funny. I don’t know about it.’”

“You have the biggest heart,” O’Heir added.

“Parks and Rec” aired for seven seasons from 2009 to 2015.

Rashida Jones, Aziz Ansari, Nick Offerman, Aubrey Plaza, Adam Scott, Paul Schneider, Rob Lowe and Kathryn Hahn also starred in the sitcom.

Some of the cast reunited in September at the premiere of Hahn’s Marvel show “Agatha All Along.”

Hahn, Scott, Poehler and Plaza all posed together for photos on the red carpet.

In a recent interview, Chris Pratt spoke out against the mean-spirited jokes about his “Parks and Recreation” co-star Jim O’Heir. Pratt, who played Andy Dwyer on the hit show, revealed that he was disappointed by the way some fans would make fun of O’Heir’s character, Jerry Gergich.

Pratt shared that O’Heir is a talented actor and a wonderful person, and it’s unfair for fans to constantly mock his character. He emphasized that the jokes about Jerry were meant to be light-hearted and comedic, not hurtful or malicious.

Pratt’s comments have sparked a conversation about the importance of being mindful of the impact our words can have on others, even in the context of a beloved TV show. Fans of “Parks and Recreation” are now reconsidering their attitudes towards Jerry Gergich and appreciating the character for the comedic genius he truly is.

It’s heartwarming to see Pratt standing up for his co-star and promoting kindness and empathy in the fandom. Let’s all take a lesson from this and remember to treat others with respect, both on and off the screen.

  • Rihanna wants Kardashian family to be banned from Met Gala over ties to Chris Brown and Kanye West: Report | Hollywood

Rihanna wants Kardashian family to be banned from Met Gala over ties to Chris Brown and Kanye West: Report | Hollywood

A new feud is brewing in Hollywood. Rihanna is reportedly on a mission to have the entire Kardashian family banned from attending the 2025 Met Gala due to the family’s controversial associations with Chris Brown and Kanye West. The singer, who has had tumultuous histories with both men, is allegedly using her influence to ensure the Kardashians do not make an appearance at the event next year.

    Rihanna targets the Kardashian family

According to RadarOnline, Rihanna wants to dethrone Kendall Jenner by getting her and her whole family banned from the Met Gala next year.

“Rihanna has never been a fan of the Kardashians. When Kim was married to Kanye West, she tried to cosy up to Rihanna and got totally shut down. And now that her longtime boyfriend, A$AP Rocky, is on the planning committee for the fashion event of the year, Rihanna has major sway when it comes to the guest list,” said a source.

Rihanna, 36, doesn’t like Kendall, 29, as she cosied up to her ex Chris Brown in 2014. Chris assaulted the singer in 2009. Kendall also dated A$AP Rocky, 36, in 2017.

“Rihanna did not appreciate Kendall’s friendship with Chris. Kendall chose a side, and it was the wrong one. At the time, Rihanna and Rocky were technically just friends, but that didn’t stop her from feeling territorial over him. It just solidified her dislike for Kendall and now she’s going to use the Met Gala to get a bit of petty revenge,” added the source.

    More about the event

Rocky is co-chairing the 2025 Met Gala committee along with Vogue editor Anna Wintour. The event is being planned for May 2025. The Kardashians have always been front and centre at the event for years.

According to the insiders, a lot of people are encouraging Rihanna who want the “Kardashians clan” out of the event.

The Met Gala 2025 theme will celebrate the style of Black men throughout history. Pharrell Williams, Lewis Hamilton, Colman Domingo along with the honourary chair LeBron James, will co-host the fashion’s biggest night. The theme is Superfine: Tailoring Black Style, which is said to be an expression of Black dandyism. However, the exact dress code has yet to be announced.

In a shocking turn of events, it has been reported that Rihanna is allegedly pushing for the Kardashian family to be banned from the prestigious Met Gala due to their connections to Chris Brown and Kanye West.

According to sources close to the singer, Rihanna is deeply disturbed by the fact that the Kardashian sisters have maintained close ties with both Brown and West, despite their troubled pasts. Brown infamously assaulted Rihanna in 2009, while West has been embroiled in numerous controversies over the years.

Rihanna, who has been a longtime supporter of the #MeToo movement and an advocate for victims of domestic violence, reportedly feels that allowing the Kardashians to attend the Met Gala sends the wrong message and undermines the importance of holding abusers and problematic figures accountable.

The Met Gala is known for its exclusivity and high-profile guest list, and Rihanna is said to be using her influence to push for a ban on the Kardashian family in order to protect the integrity of the event.

While representatives for Rihanna and the Met Gala have yet to comment on the matter, it remains to be seen whether the Kardashian family will be allowed to attend the event in the future. Stay tuned for updates on this developing story.
