Cleveland Browns Could Replace Nick Chubb with Ohio State Star

The Cleveland Browns will have some tough decisions to make this offseason. Arguably the most difficult will have to do with the future of running back Nick Chubb.

Prior to his gruesome knee injury last season, Chubb was one of the most feared running backs in the NFL. He made his return to the field this year, but looked like a shell of his former self.

When all was said and done on his 2024 season, which was cut short due to a broken foot, Chubb played in eight games. He ended up carrying the football 102 times for 332 yards and three touchdowns. Those numbers average out to a disappointing 3.3 yards per carry.

At 29 years old, there is legitimate reason to believe that Chubb may never bounce back to who he was before the knee injury.

Keeping that in mind, there is a good chance that the Browns will look to bring in a replacement for Chubb. Even if they work out a deal to bring him back for another season, Cleveland has to get more production on the ground than he was able to provide this year.

AtoZ Sports had a very intriguing idea in a recent NFL mock draft. They had the Browns bringing in an Ohio State Buckeyes’ star running back to help replace Chubb.

In their mock draft, they had Cleveland selecting Ohio State’s TreVeyon Henderson in the third round.

Bringing Henderson onboard would be a very popular move within the Browns’ fan base. Keeping Buckeyes players home is always something that fans love to see.

Henderson is coming off of what has been another impressive season. Even though he split time in the backfield with Quinshon Judkins, he put together big numbers.

Heading into Ohio State’s matchup against the Oregon Ducks in the College Football Playoff, Henderson has racked up 831 yards and eight touchdowns on 118 carries. He has averaged 7.0 yards per carry.

If Cleveland were to select Henderson, he would bring elite playmaking ability for the future. He may not be ready to be a workhorse running back right off the bat, but a two-headed backfield of Henderson and Chubb might actually work out.

There is a lot of time between now and the NFL Draft. However, Henderson would be a great piece alongside Chubb if the Browns chose to go that route and he would offer them a legitimate future replacement as he continues to improve and hone his craft.

The Cleveland Browns Could Replace Nick Chubb with Ohio State Star J.K. Dobbins

With speculation swirling around the future of star running back Nick Chubb, the Cleveland Browns may already have a potential replacement in mind. Ohio State standout J.K. Dobbins has been making waves in the college football world and could be the perfect fit for the Browns’ backfield.

Dobbins, a dynamic and explosive runner, has shown his ability to break tackles, make defenders miss, and find the end zone with ease. His speed and agility make him a threat to score on any given play, and his versatility as a pass-catcher out of the backfield only adds to his value.

With Chubb’s contract situation up in the air, the Browns may need to start thinking about a contingency plan. Dobbins could provide a seamless transition and bring a new dimension to the Browns’ offense.

While Chubb has been a fan favorite and a key contributor to the team’s success, Dobbins could bring a fresh perspective and inject some excitement into the Browns’ ground game.

Only time will tell what the future holds for Chubb and the Browns, but one thing is for sure – J.K. Dobbins is a name to keep an eye on. Stay tuned for updates on this developing story.

Browns Projected to Swap Out Nick Chubb for 30-TD Superstar RB

Getty Running back Nick Chubb of the Cleveland Browns. There is not a ton of certainty surrounding the Cleveland Browns as they approach the offseason, though the fate of running back Nick Chubb appears almost sealed. Chubb’s year ended three weeks ago against the Kansas City Chiefs by way of a broken foot. The injury marked the second consecutive campaign of Chubb’s that injury derailed after he blew out his knee against the Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 2 of the 2023 season. That injury could have ended the running back’s tenure in Cleveland had he not been willing to renegotiate…

What Happened to Nick Chubb? Latest Week 18 Injury Update for the Browns RB

Cleveland Browns running back Nick Chubb has not played since Dec. 15. Known for his hard-nosed running style and no-nonsense, hard-at-work personality, what happened to the Browns’ backfield leader, and when can he return from injury?

Nick Chubb Injury Update: What Happened to the Browns RB?

On Dec. 15, in a loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, Chubb sustained a broken foot in the third quarter.

The broken foot sent Chubb to the injured reserve with another season-ending injury, his second in the last two years. Chubb has become the walking definition of “resiliency” for Browns fans and even his coaches and teammates.

However, after dealing with consecutive season-ending injuries, the long-term damage that has been done can not be overlooked if you are in the Cleveland Browns’ front office. The one big question, though, is whether or not the injury sustained on Dec. 15 is the last of Chubb’s Browns career, as he is set to be a free agent at the end of the 2024 season.

Chubb entered the NFL with some serious promise at the running back position. In 2018, Cleveland selected Chubb in the second round of the 2018 NFL Draft. In Year 2, Chubb announced his arrival to the NFL by running for almost 1,500 yards on the ground. The Browns RB put up four straight seasons (2019-2022) of over 1,000 yards on the ground.

  • 2019: 1,494 rushing yards
  • 2020: 1,067 rushing yards
  • 2021: 1,259 rushing yards
  • 2022: 1,525 rushing yards

Unfortunately, the last couple of seasons have been less fortunate. Chubb had to deal with two major, gruesome knee injuries before the start of the 2024 NFL season, injuries that would leave most players more than likely composing their retirement speech due to the significance.

Chubb suffered an injury to his MCL and meniscus in his left knee in 2023, which was the same knee that he injured in college (MCL, LCL, and PCL tear in 2015). However, the “Nick Chubb” mentality has been one of a warrior. His dedication and commitment to returning to the field made the city of Cleveland’s appreciation for Chubb through the roof, a city with a blue-collar mentality that recognizes its star players with a similar mindset.

“Nick’s a pretty special football player,” Browns coach Kevin Stefanski said. “He’s a pretty special person. I think he embodies a lot of what we want to be as Cleveland Browns and certainly, I think our fans feel that from him. And for me, from my chair, I get to watch him work, and I get to see the fruits of his labor.

“So, I’ve gotten to witness this journey, if you will, from back to last year and how hard he’s worked. So, I think that just resonates with our fan base.”

Chubb is currently the franchise’s No. 3 all-time rusher behind Hall of Famers Jim Brown and Leroy Kelly with 6,843 yards, as well as third behind them in rushing touchdowns with 51. Chubb has had a legendary run for Cleveland, and to speak for Browns fans, hopefully, they have not seen his last run in a Browns uniform.

Unfortunately, Nick Chubb’s status for Week 18 is uncertain due to a knee injury he sustained in the previous game. The Cleveland Browns have not provided a definitive update on Chubb’s condition, leaving fans and fantasy football players on edge.

Chubb has been a key player for the Browns this season, and his absence would be a significant blow to the team’s offense. As one of the top running backs in the league, his presence on the field can make a huge difference in the outcome of a game.

Fans are eagerly awaiting any news on Chubb’s injury status and hoping for a speedy recovery. Stay tuned for further updates on Nick Chubb’s condition as the Week 18 game approaches.
