Yankees Claim Allan Winans Off Waivers From Braves
The Yankees have claimed right-hander Allan Winans off waivers from the Braves, who designated him for assignment earlier in the week, as first reported by Chase Ford of MiLB Central.

The 29-year-old Winans saw big league time with the Braves in both 2023 and 2024. He’s been hit hard in the majors, yielding a 7.20 ERA in 40 frames, but has a strong track record in Triple-A. Major league hitters haven’t made hard contact with much frequency, but the hard contact he does allow tends to be quite loud; he’s averaged 1.80 homers per nine frames and allowed 10% of his batted balls to be barreled up, per Statcast.

The Yankees have multiple open spots on their 40-man roster, so they won’t necessarily need to make a corresponding move to accommodate Winans. He’ll compete for a spot on the Opening Day roster this spring, but with a crowded rotation that could lead to a trade of Marcus Stroman and a generally veteran bullpen, the Yankees seem likelier to open the year with Winans in Triple-A — assuming he remains on the 40-man roster for the rest of the offseason.

During a recent episode of the MMArcade podcast, Whittaker weighed in on Makhachev’s UFC 311 performance and where he stands on the lightweight GOAT debate.

“At this point in Islam’s career, can you expect anything else?” Whittaker said of Makhachev. “Everyone just wants to see the bubble pop, but much like Khabib, it’s not gonna happen. Islam is much more well-rounded than Khabib, in my opinion. His striking is so crisp and clean. We’ve seen such an improvement in his striking over the course of his last few fights, and this was no different…

“The problem is, we need to see him keep going, to keep doing it. Statistically, he’s the best lightweight to have done it right now, but if he loses that bubble that pops, that aura disappears. That’s why it was so good for Khabib to get out and not succumb to anything else. His bubble never popped. But Islam’s doing what [Khabib] did but going further with it, taking it as far as he can go.”

A second UFC title would set Islam Makhachev firmly apart from Khabib Nurmagomedov

After UFC 311, Makhachev could potentially vie for another divisional championship after nearly clearing out the top lightweight contenders. He’s long teased a move up to welterweight, but with his teammate Belal Muhammad holding the belt, his jump up a weight class is complicated.

If Makhachev earned a second title, he’ll tally an accolade that Nurmagomedov didn’t earn during his career. Nurmagomedov retired in 2020 following a successful lightweight title defense against Justin Gaethje at UFC 254.

Nurmagomedov entered the UFC Hall of Fame in 2022 after amassing a 29-0 record in his legendary career. He defeated Conor McGregor, Dustin Poirier, and Gaethje during his lightweight title reign.

Fuming Jeopardy! fans blame President Trump for show delay as they claim he ‘f–ked up airing’
Jeopardy! fans had choice words for President Donald Trump after his inauguration affected the beloved game show’s schedule.

Like always, longtime Jeopardy! fans tuned in on Monday to see a new episode of the trivia contest, which airs Monday through Friday at 7 p.m. EST/4 p.m. PST. Several fans shared online that they were excited to see Jeopardy! champion Drew Goins compete for the win in what would’ve been tonight’s Champions Wildcard episode . Supporters were crushed when instead of a new Jeopardy! being aired, Trump’s inaugural festivities after being sworn-in as president Monday were premiering during the show’s time slot.

Countless watchers voiced their outrage on social media as they shared how they were disappointed they couldn’t watch their “fave” contestant Drew.

Drew has become the “It” guy on Jeopardy! due to his sharp game strategy, entertaining stories, and fun fashion outfits.

Another Redditor ranted: “I just wanted my 30 f–kng minutes of escapism today and couldn’t even get that because of the inauguration.”

Even more raged on X, formerly Twitter, outright blaming Trump for Jeopardy! not airing when it was supposed to on Monday.

“Among all the other things, tonight Trump f–ked up Jeopardy airing. God dammit,” one slammed on X. A plethora of others just ranted, “Where the f–k is Jeopardy @ABC7NY,” as they insisted the network didn’t “cut in” to the show.

“Hey @ABC7NY, don’t cut into @Jeopardy with late-day inauguration crap. Your viewership would rather watch an intelligent quiz show,” an X user suggested.

Jeopardy! didn’t inform viewers that they potentially wouldn’t air a new episode on January 20 or even if it would be delayed. This is why unsuspecting viewers were shocked to find out when they tuned in that instead of a new Jeopardy! episode, they’d be getting news coverage of Trump’s inauguration day.

While some parts of the country got to see Monday’s episode of Jeopardy!, for most, Trump’s inaugural footage bled into Jeopardy!’s hour.

Jeopardy! fans are fuming after a delay in the airing of their favorite game show, and they are placing the blame squarely on President Trump. Fans took to social media to express their frustration, with many claiming that the President had somehow “f–ked up” the show’s schedule.

One fan tweeted, “Thanks a lot, Trump. You couldn’t even let us have Jeopardy! on time. Is nothing sacred anymore?”

Diontae Johnson returns to Ravens on waivers claim

The Ravens‘ surprising waiver claim for journeyman Diontae Johnson could result in an additional draft pick for Baltimore.

Johnson, who was waived by Baltimore earlier this season, was claimed by the Ravens one day after the wide receiver was waived by the Houston Texans, it was announced Wednesday.

Johnson won’t officially move to the Ravens until Feb. 10 — the day after the Super Bowl. He qualifies as an unrestricted free agent. By claiming him, the Ravens will have a chance at earning a compensatory selection for the 2026 draft depending on the contract Johnson signs in free agency.

The Ravens have been the best in the NFL in accumulating compensatory picks, earning a league-high 56 of them since the system began in 1994. Baltimore has used comp picks to select fullback Kyle Juszczyk, punter Sam Koch and tight end Isaiah Likely.

Johnson was waived by the Texans on Tuesday, and sources told ESPN’s DJ Bien-Aime that Johnson had asked for his release. The receiver was visibly upset as he sat fully dressed as his locker after the Texans’ wild-card playoff victory against the Chargers. Johnson played only 15 out of the Texans’ 70 offensive snaps and received one target, which he caught for 12 yards.

“Unfortunately, with Diontae, it didn’t work out,” Texans coach DeMeco Ryans said Tuesday. “We’re on to the Chiefs.”

Johnson had three catches for 24 yards in two games with Houston after the Texans claimed him off waivers from the Ravens on Dec. 23. Baltimore had moved on from the receiver after he refused to enter a game against the Philadelphia Eagles on Dec. 1.

Before the Ravens waived Johnson, they suspended him one game for his refusal to play against the Eagles. Baltimore had acquired him in a trade with the Carolina Panthers on Oct. 29, but he played only 39 snaps for the team, catching one pass for 6 yards.

The Panthers acquired Johnson from the Pittsburgh Steelers before the season. He had 30 catches for 257 yards and three touchdowns for Carolina when he left for the Ravens.

The Steelers drafted Johnson in the third round of the 2019 draft, and he had 391 catches for 4,363 yards and 25 touchdowns in Pittsburgh. He earned a Pro Bowl selection in 2021 with his lone 1,000-yard season and a career-high eight touchdown receptions in quarterback Ben Roethlisberger’s final year.

A viral post shared on X claims Colorado Republican Rep. Lauren Boebert purportedly said Egypt owns the Panama Canal.

The satirical claim appears to follow recent comments made by Trump suggesting that the U.S. take control of the Panama Canal, according to CNN.

“‘Merry Christmas to all, including to the wonderful soldiers of China, who are lovingly, but illegally, operating the Panama Canal (where we lost 38,000 people in its building 110 years ago), always making certain that the United States puts in Billions of Dollars in ‘repair’ money, but will have absolutely nothing to say about ‘anything,’” Trump wrote in a Christmas message posted to TRUTH Social, the outlet reported.

Rachel Zegler reacts to claim she’s ‘obsessed’ romantically with ‘Romeo + Juliet’ co-star Kit Connor

This Juliet isn’t in love with that Romeo.

Rachel Zegler clapped back at a critic who claimed she’s “obsessed” with Kit Connor, her co-star in the “Romeo + Juliet” Broadway revival.

The 23-year-old actress defended herself in the comments section of her Dec. 29 Instagram post, which included two photos of Connor, 20, among a picture montage of “moments of joy and dreams coming true.”

“I think Rachel is so obsessed with Kit Connor in a romantic way not just a friend way,” read the fan comment.

Zegler wrote back, “no! moving on.”

Her response has over 3,000 “likes” from other Instagram users, who applauded Zegler for denying the romance rumors.

In an interview with Teen Vogue in October, Zegler talked about how she created a bond with Connor during “Romeo + Juliet” rehearsals.

“We would have lunch together every day. We were working in Brooklyn at the rehearsal studio,” she said. “We’d all go to Whole Foods and get our lunch and come back and eat together. And it was just the bits, the bits began. We love the bits.”

Cardano Price on Track to Claim $6 as ADA Follows 2021 Fractal
Market veteran Ali Martinez believes Cardano price is on track to double its all-time high this cycle as ADA follows the 2021 trajectory.

The analyst disclosed this amid Cardano’s (ADA) impressive rebound above $1 in the new year. Cardano, which began the year at $0.8450, has so far witnessed two consecutive bullish days, with the latest 10.36% gain this morning allowing it to cross $1 for the first time in over two weeks.

Amid this recovery push, Ali Martinez disclosed in a recent analysis that Cardano is now following a path similar to its trajectory in the 2020/2021 market cycle. He shared a 4-day ADA chart to corroborate this claim.

ADA’s Historical Data

Data from the chart indicates that Cardano experienced a price crash from a top of $0.3885 in April 2018, entering a major downtrend and consolidation channel from November of that year. This bearish consolidation persisted for 670 days, further exacerbated by the COVID-19 crash to $0.0177 in March 2020.

However, ADA eventually broke out from the channel in May 2020 and then slipped into an uptrend from November 2020 that lasted until August 2021, culminating in the $3.1 all-time high. During the period of this uptrend, Cardano spiked 4,095%.

Nonetheless, following the Terra and FTX implosions in 2022, Cardano collapsed with the rest of the market. The asset entered into another extensive bearish consolidation channel for 457 days, until its breakout from the channel during the start of the ongoing bull run in Q4 2023.

Cardano Enters Similar Uptrend

Despite this, Cardano did not enter into this cycle’s uptrend until early November, after the Donald Trump victory in the U.S. presidential election. ADA is now up 217% since it started the uptrend, but Martinez believes the rally is just beginning.

Just in 2020/2021, the analyst expects Cardano to sustain this upsurge for an extended period, setting a target of $4 over the next few weeks. However, data from his chart shows that he sees further upside to the $6.4 level as the ultimate target, culminating in a 2,210% increase from recent lows.

At press time, Cardano now trades for $1.06, having increased by over 10% today alone. With an 11.13% spike in the last 24 hours, ADA is now the second-largest gainer among the top 100 assets in the past 24 hours. The asset aims to solidify its hold above $1, potentially leveraging it for further upsurge.

Jimmy Butler Makes Bold Claim Amid Foggy Future With Celtics Rival
Jimmy Butler sent a clear message to the Miami Heat, re-stirring the pot of the six-time All-Star’s questionable future with the franchise.
