  • Clippers vs Spurs Prediction, Picks & Odds for Tonight’s NBA Game

With Kawhi Leonard working his way back, the Clippers have maintained their position as a playoff team in the West. We expect them to leave San Antonio with a win tonight.

With Kawhi Leonard ramping up, the Los Angeles Clippers are eyeing another jump in the Western Conference standings, and they get the favorites tag as they visit the San Antonio Spurs tonight.

San Antonio is just back from two games in Paris, and my Clippers vs. Spurs predictions signal déjà vu for the hosts, who’ve lost eight of their last nine matchups against L.A.

Take a closer look at this January 29 battle with my NBA picks and betting angles, including a wager on more magic from The Beard.

    Clippers vs Spurs prediction

    My best bet
    Clippers -4 (-110 at bet365)

    My analysis
The Los Angeles Clippers have to rank among this season’s NBA surprises — not just surviving without Paul George and, for a long stretch, Kawhi Leonard, but thriving in the cut-throat West.

At 26-20, the Clippers have won six of their last nine contests, and they’re 28-17-1 ATS this year. If Kawhi can stay healthy, even on a lower minutes load, there’s a case for L.A. grabbing homecourt advantage for the first round of the playoffs.

I’m buying into that recent form and laying the points with the Clippers tonight against a San Antonio Spurs team that’s 3-7 in their last 10 contests. The Spurs were on the receiving end of a 136-98 blowout against the Pacers in Paris on Sunday, and their defense has fallen off a cliff lately, allowing 128 points or more in four of the past five outings.

Then there’s the after-effects from San Antonio’s hectic week in Europe. Despite the hosts’ 12-10 mark at Frost Bank Center, I’m factoring in a sluggish start as the jet lag wears off.

An L.A. offense powered by Leonard, James Harden, and Norman Powell should really test the Spurs’ wing defenders, and I see all three of those scorers targeting the Chris Paul matchup while steering clear of Victor Wembanyama in the paint.

The Clippers are just 9-12 on their travels this season, but if you zoom out a bit further, they’re 25-18 across their last 43 road games, and they’ve covered the spread in six of their last nine clashes with the Spurs.

    Clippers vs Spurs same-game parlay

    Clippers -4

James Harden Over 15.5 rebounds + assists

    Victor Wembanyama Over 24.5 points

We’ve seen some vintage Harden moments this season, with The Beard embracing a heavy workload and making contributions all over the box score. Tonight, I’m focusing on his rebounds + assists combo prop, where the line feels too low at 15.5.

Harden has gone past this number in five of his last eight outings, including a 13-assist, 12-rebound night against the Wizards last week, and he’s finished with double-digit dimes in six of his past eight contests. With Ivica Zubac trying to box out Wemby, Harden should walk into some easy boards, too.

I’m rounding out my SGP with a Wembanyama prop. Wemby delivered a 30-point masterpiece against the Pacers in the first of the two Paris games, and he poured in 27 points against the Clippers in late December.

He’s still putting up streaky numbers from beyond the arc, but that hasn’t discouraged him from jacking up 3-pointers, and he’s knocked down at least two triples in every game this month. As San Antonio’s No.1 scoring option, I like his chance of reaching the 25-point mark tonight.

  • Game Preview: San Antonio Spurs vs. Los Angeles Clippers

It can be hard to play through all of the noise. Attention in the NBA space is often a double-edged sword. The rumor mill brings excitement for fans and distractions for the players. The San Antonio Spurs find themselves on the front burner of the hot stove with recent reports suggesting Sacramento Kings guard De’Aaron Fox wants to don the Silver and Black.

The Spurs will have to fight through that noise in a big matchup against the Los Angeles Clippers on Wednesday. It’s San Antonio’s first game back in the United States after a two-game trip to Paris where they split the series with the Indiana Pacers. They’ll be welcomed back by one of the toughest defenses in the NBA, and a familiar face in Kawhi Leonard.

San Antonio blew out the Clippers in their last contest, 122-86. Now they face a different Clippers squad that is essentially in full health. They’ll have to deal with not just the Clippers’ stout defense but a three-headed offensive behemoth that includes Leonard, James Harden, and Norman Powell. It’ll be a tough game in a crucial stretch of their season.

    January 29, 2025 | 7 PM CT

Watch: Fan Duel | Listen: WOAI (1200 AM)

Spurs Injuries: Sidy Cissoko – Out (concussion protocol), Riley Minix – Out (G League), David Duke Jr. – Out (G League), Harrison Ingram – Out (G League)

Clippers Injuries: Cam Christie – Out (ankle), Kris Dunn – Out (knee), Trentyn Flowers – Out (G League), Kai Jones – Out (G League), PJ Tucker – Out (not with team)

    What to watch for:

    Offensive consistency

The Spurs have struggled mightily with maintaining an offensive rhythm throughout a game. Their 12-point fourth quarter against the Pacers in their last game is proof. They had two quarters where they scored less than 20 points in their first matchup with the Clippers. Los Angeles is second in defensive rating and third in points allowed. They play an aggressive style, especially on the wings. That style gave the Spurs issues against the Pacers. Handling the pressure and finding a way to create offense for 48 minutes will be key.

    Stephon Castle responds

Players are humans just like us. They see what people are saying online and in the media. One Spur whose name has come up most often in the Fox trade rumors is Stephon Castle. It’s so early in his career for the rookie to face this kind of adversity, but he seemed well-equipped for it. He’s having a good January, scoring 13.9 points and 3.9 assists. It’ll be interesting to see how Castle responds against the Clippers.

    Three-point shooting

The Spurs are a streaky shooting team. They’ve hit just 34.8% from deep this season, but in some games, it seems like they can’t miss. The Clippers are elite at guarding the three-point line, allowing teams to shoot just 34.2% from three. When the Spurs get up and down and find threes in rhythm, they are hard to guard. Playing with pace, space, and ball movement will help them get going against the Clippers.

The San Antonio Spurs are set to face off against the Los Angeles Clippers in what is sure to be an exciting matchup between two Western Conference powerhouses.

The Spurs, led by veteran forward DeMar DeRozan and young star guard Dejounte Murray, have been playing solid basketball as of late and currently sit in the middle of the playoff race in the West. Head coach Gregg Popovich will surely have his team prepared for a tough battle against the Clippers.

Meanwhile, the Clippers, led by All-Star forward Kawhi Leonard and dynamic point guard Paul George, are looking to make a statement with a strong performance against the Spurs. With a deep roster and strong defensive presence, the Clippers will be a tough challenge for San Antonio.

Both teams have a history of success and are known for their high-level play, so fans can expect a competitive and entertaining game. Be sure to tune in to see which team comes out on top in this exciting matchup between the Spurs and Clippers.

  • Trade Rumors: Turner, Heat, Brown, Raptors, Clippers

Asked on a live stream on Friday whether the Pacers might be open to trading center Myles Turner, who is on an expiring contract, Jovan Buha of The Athletic (YouTube link) said he has heard a “little bit of chatter” about that possibility.

However, based on his wording, it sounds like Buha is just referring to speculation from rival executives who are curious about whether Indiana will be able to pay Turner in free agency this summer, rather than any concrete signs the club is considering making him available. The 28-year-old won’t become eligible for an extension before reaching unrestricted free agency in July, so if Indiana isn’t confident about its ability to re-sign him, hanging onto him would carry the risk of losing him for nothing in the summer.

I’d be very surprised if the Pacers entertain the idea of trading Turner by February 6, given that he’s the starting center on a team that has played its best basketball of the season in recent weeks (9-2 in January).

Still, it’s worth noting that Indiana’s front office showed a year ago that it’s willing to trade a regular contributor if the team doesn’t expect to be able to sign him beyond the current season. After he turned down an extension offer from the Pacers, Buddy Hield was shipped to Philadelphia at last season’s deadline, despite the fact that he was averaging 25.7 minutes per game and had started 28 of 52 contests for Indiana.

Here are a few more trade-related notes and rumors from around the NBA:

    • Within his latest dispatch at The Stein Line (Substack link), Jake Fischer explores what the Heat are looking for in a Jimmy Butler trade, reiterating a few points that have been reported elsewhere, including the fact that Miami is prioritizing cap flexibility and short-term contracts, as well as players who can help the team make the playoffs this season.
    • To that end, Fischer cites sources who say that the Heat have registered some interest in Raptors wing Bruce Brown, who is on a $23MM expiring contract, and confirms that Toronto is widely viewed as a team interested in facilitating a larger deal. “They want to get involved in any Jimmy Butler trade,” one rival general manager told Fischer. Wizards guard Malcolm Brogdon, who is on an expiring $22.5MM contract, is another example of the type of proven veteran on a favorable contract who might appeal to Miami, Fischer adds.
    • After creating some cap flexibility last offseason when they let Paul George walk in free agency, the Clippers remain “keen on keeping their books clean,” according to Fischer, who says the team has conveyed to rivals that it’s not eager to take on long-term salary in pre-deadline trades.
    • The Athletic’s NBA writers take a closer look at all 30 teams, considering whether the best approach to the deadline for each of those clubs is to buy, sell, or stand pat.

With the NBA trade deadline rapidly approaching, rumors are swirling around some big names in the league. Here are some of the latest trade speculations:

    1. Myles Turner: The Indiana Pacers’ center has been linked to several teams, including the Miami Heat. Turner’s shot-blocking ability and floor-spacing could be a great fit for the Heat as they look to bolster their frontcourt.

    2. Jaylen Brown: The Boston Celtics’ guard has reportedly drawn interest from the Toronto Raptors. Brown’s scoring and defensive prowess would be a welcome addition to the Raptors’ roster as they aim to make a playoff push.

    3. Miami Heat: Speaking of the Heat, they have also been mentioned as potential suitors for some other players, including Turner and potentially other big names on the market.

    4. Toronto Raptors: In addition to their interest in Jaylen Brown, the Raptors are also said to be exploring potential trades to improve their roster for a postseason run.

    5. LA Clippers: The Clippers are also in the mix for some trade discussions, with rumors swirling about potential moves to strengthen their roster for a deep playoff run.

As the trade deadline approaches, be sure to stay tuned for more updates on these and other potential trade scenarios in the NBA.

Former Tennessee basketball player Dalton Knecht totaled 10 points, four rebounds and one assist in 16 minutes for the Lakers. He converted 3-of-4 field goal attempts, 2-of-3 three-point attempts and 2-of-2 free throw attempts. The former Vol was selected in the first-round of the 2024 NBA draft (No. 17 overall) by Los Angeles. • Clippers’ trade deadline strategy emerges amid surprise season

The Los Angeles Clippers have been one of the surprises of the NBA this season, pushing their record to an impressive 26-19 with a Saturday night home win over the Milwaukee Bucks. The team only recently got star Kawhi Leonard back from an injury that kept him out for the first third of the season, but the Clippers’ role players have helped support a revitalized James Harden running the show for Los Angeles.

With all of the success they’ve had so far this year, some fans may be expecting the Clippers to push all of their chips to the center of the table at the upcoming trade deadline in the hopes of making a run; however, recent intel from NBA insider Jake Fischer on Marc Stein’s Substack indicated otherwise.

“The Clippers, according to league sources, are still keen on keeping their books clean, indicating to rival front offices that they are reluctant to bring back any long-term salary in any potential trade activity over the remaining 12 days of NBA Trade Season,” reported Fischer. “The Clippers appear to be setting themselves up to try to truly capitalize on owner Steve Ballmer’s well-chronicled willingness to spend and the allure of their shiny new Intuit Dome home when Leonard’s tenure concludes.”

A careful approach for the Clippers

Related Los Angeles Clippers NewsArticle continues below

With this latest report, it would appear that Steve Ballmer and company are done taking big swings to bet on the decreasingly reliable availability of Kawhi Leonard. When Leonard first arrived in 2019, the Clippers took a huge risk by trading a treasure trove of assets to the Oklahoma City Thunder to pair him up with Paul George, and that ended up backfiring severely, not only resulting in no championships but also directly setting the stage for the Thunder’s current success.

Leonard signed a contract extension with the Clippers last season, so it will be a while before he is off of the books and Ballmer will reportedly be more willing to go big game hunting in free agency.

However, fans who were hoping the Clippers would try to make a run this season, especially considering how wide open the field seems to be in the Western Conference this season, will likely be disheartened by these latest reports.

The Los Angeles Clippers have been one of the biggest surprises of the NBA season so far, currently sitting near the top of the Western Conference standings. As the trade deadline approaches, the team’s strategy is starting to come into focus.

With a roster full of talent, including stars like Kawhi Leonard and Paul George, the Clippers have the pieces in place to make a deep playoff run. However, there are still areas where they could look to improve before the trade deadline.

One potential area of need for the Clippers is at the point guard position. Despite the solid play of Reggie Jackson and Terance Mann, adding a veteran playmaker could provide some added stability to the team’s backcourt.

Additionally, the Clippers could look to add some frontcourt depth to bolster their interior defense and rebounding. With Serge Ibaka dealing with injuries and Ivica Zubac still developing, adding another big man could be a priority for the team.

Overall, the Clippers’ trade deadline strategy appears to be focused on adding complementary pieces to their already talented roster. By addressing their areas of need, the team could solidify their status as legitimate championship contenders. It will be interesting to see how the team navigates the trade deadline and positions themselves for a deep playoff run.

  • Clippers could upgrade backcourt by trading for Trail Blazers’ $100 million young guard

The Los Angeles Clippers have had a solid season thus far but they might look to upgrade their roster ahead of the Feb. 6 NBA trade deadline to better their championship odds.

Los Angeles currently sits sixth in the Western Conference standings with a 26-19 record. This is despite the fact that their superstar forward Kawhi Leonard missed much of the first half of the season.

With Leonard out, the Clippers saw James Harden, Ivica Zubac and Norman Powell lead the way. Of course, Harden has been great throughout his career but he has taken another step forward this season after struggling last year. Along with Harden, both Powell and Zubac have also stepped up and are currently putting together the best seasons of their careers.

While the Clippers do currently hold a playoff spot in the West, they could still look to upgrade their roster ahead of the trade deadline. One area that they could focus on is their backcourt, and they could upgrade it by making a trade with the Portland Trail Blazers for Anfernee Simons.

In a possible trade, Los Angeles could send P.J. Tucker, Derrick Jones Jr., Bones Hyland and draft capital to Portland for Simons and Duop Reath. With the Blazers stuck in a rebuild, they are clearly prioritizing a starting backcourt of Scoot Henderson and Shaedon Sharpe, which has made Simons expendable in the trade market.

For the Clippers, this trade would upgrade their backcourt while also giving them more center depth. Simons is a great scorer and he has also improved his playmaking skills, which could lead Los Angeles to try him out at point guard to eventually replace Harden once he retires.

Los Angeles would also receive Reath in the deal to upgrade their frontcourt depth behind Zubac.

By making this trade, the Clippers would upgrade their roster for a championship run this season while also adding an emerging star to build around once their veterans decide to hang it up.

More NBA: Suns could offload Bradley Beal’s contract in trade for Bulls’ $215 million guard

According to recent reports, the Los Angeles Clippers are looking to upgrade their backcourt by potentially trading for the Portland Trail Blazers’ young star guard, CJ McCollum. With a hefty $100 million contract, McCollum could provide the Clippers with the scoring punch and playmaking abilities they need to compete in the tough Western Conference.

McCollum, known for his scoring prowess and ability to create his own shot, could be the missing piece the Clippers need to take their team to the next level. Pairing him with All-Star forward Kawhi Leonard and dynamic point guard Paul George could create a formidable trio that could contend with the best teams in the league.

While the Clippers would have to give up some assets in order to acquire McCollum, the potential payoff could be well worth it. With the NBA trade deadline approaching, it will be interesting to see if the Clippers pull the trigger on a deal for the talented young guard.

Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story as the trade deadline approaches. Would you like to see the Clippers trade for CJ McCollum? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below.

  • Clippers take a risk and trade for one of Milwaukee’s All-Stars

With the February 6th deadline two weeks away, the LA Clippers must moves based on what they need. As there are major holes on the bench that have been avoided all season, the front office will have to try their luck and accommodate with the help of another team.

Moreover, the Clippers’ first concern must be veteran forward P.J. Tucker. Despite not playing, he has been collecting checks all season. This is a prominent issue, and the front office should listen to any offer they receive that includes Tucker’s contract.

Additionally, the Clippers have multiple others that must be shipped. If the active rotation becomes perfected by the deadline, head coach Tyronn Lue could take his team into conversations no one expected LA to be in.

Furthermore, the Milwaukee Bucks are a team that could consider proposals from the Clippers. Their front office has contracts they desire to ship, and executive Lawrence Frank will hear them out if Tucker and others are included.

Nonetheless, Frank and his staff should watch the film on three-time all-star Khris Middleton and decide whether he is a star they should hunt. If so, the Bucks will likely be open to accepting what the Clippers have to offer.

Khris Middleton joins the LA Clippers in a proposal that sends four players to Milwaukee.

Coming from 12 seasons with the Bucks, Khris Middleton could use a clean slate with the LA Clippers. He is the perfect veteran to call upon, as Middleton brings efficient, effective scoring in every stage of offense.

This season, Middleton is averaging 12.6 points, 5.1 assists, and 3.9 rebounds, shooting 48% from the floor and 37.7% from a distance.

Given the 2021 NBA champion profits just over $31 million annually, the LA Clippers will send bench players Terance Mann, Nicolas Batum, P.J. Tucker, and Kevin Porter Jr. In addition, LA will also receive a three-point threat in Gary Trent Jr.

For the Bucks, this proposal is an excellent way to move past Middleton. Though he has a player option for next season, the 33-year-old forward will accept due to his lucrative contract.

Although Milwaukee may prefer to retain Trent Jr., they land Mann, who could be a stronger fit in their scheme.

Conversely, this package is a risk for the Clippers, as Middleton presents a significant injury history. However, the trade is worth it, as they will have moved numerous players who did not fit. This proposal also provides LA with Trent Jr., an elite offensive talent.

    Trade Grade: A-

In a shocking move, the Los Angeles Clippers have decided to take a major risk and trade for one of the Milwaukee Bucks’ All-Stars. The deal, which is still pending league approval, would see the Clippers parting ways with some of their key players in exchange for a star player from the Bucks.

This trade is a bold move for the Clippers, who are currently in the midst of a rebuilding phase. By acquiring a proven All-Star from a contending team like the Bucks, the Clippers are showing that they are serious about competing at the highest level.

While the details of the trade have not been officially announced, speculation is already running rampant among fans and analysts. Some believe that the Clippers may be targeting Giannis Antetokounmpo, the reigning MVP and one of the most dominant players in the league. Others think that Khris Middleton, an All-Star forward known for his scoring ability, could be the player headed to Los Angeles.

No matter who the Clippers end up acquiring, one thing is for certain: this trade will shake up the NBA landscape and make the Clippers a team to watch in the upcoming season. Stay tuned for more updates on this breaking news.

  • Clippers vs Suns Prediction, Picks & Odds for Tonight’s NBA Game

With oddsmakers slow to adjust to Phoenix’s struggles, our NBA picks are happy to fade the Suns tonight.

It may be time to doubt the Phoenix Suns on a nightly basis. Actually, it was time long ago. It’s hard to believe this roster of Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, Bradley Beal and Tyus Jones is failing so spectacularly, but it very much is.

Doubting Phoenix tonight means trusting the Los Angeles Clippers, which my Suns vs. Clippers predictions and NBA picks will, in fact, do before tip at 9:30 ET on Monday, January 27.

One of the punchlines of last season was that the Atlanta Hawks were historically bad against the spread. At the absolute least, the Hawks’ 29-53 ATS record last season was the worst ATS record since sports gambling became regulated in the United States in 2018.

Don’t look now, but the Phoenix Suns are on pace to match or worsen that mark.

At 15-28-1 right now, Phoenix is barrelling toward a 28-53-1 ATS record despite currently sitting two games above .500 outright. Of course, those two records have only so much correlation, but the latter is camouflaging just how much and how often the Suns are disappointing and falling short of expectations.

Do not chalk this up to just a bad start. In the last month, Phoenix has gone 5-9-1 ATS. That stretch alone is a pace to go 30-52 ATS in a full season, hardly an improvement. Even amid the Suns’ struggles, NBA odds are failing to figure out how to price them. There have obviously been downgrades for 44 games of miseries, but those downgrades do not seem to have been enough.

Now look down the court tonight. The Los Angeles Clippers are on pace to go 52-29-1 ATS this season, which would be the best mark since at least 2017-18 if not for two teams exceeding that pace this season, the Grizzlies and the Cavs with the Thunder also matching the Clippers.

And again, do not chalk this up to just a good start. In the last month, Los Angeles has gone 10-5 ATS. That stretch alone is a pace to go 55-27 ATS in a full season, the same pace as Memphis and Cleveland.

Perhaps the most impressive part of the Clippers’ success has been folding Kawhi Leonard into it as he slowly works his way back onto the court with more of an impact. He has played between 19 and 25 minutes in every one of his seven games, all this month. In his seven games, Los Angeles has gone 7-0 ATS and 6-1 outright.

Somehow, it seems sportsbooks both overrated Leonard’s absence and then underrated his return.

These two historical trends dovetail tonight to make a rather simple decision: The Clippers by at least three points.

    Clippers vs Suns same-game parlay

    Clippers -2.5

    Suns team total Under 111.5

    Grayson Allen Under 2.5 threes

The Clippers have remained in the Top 6 out West largely thanks to their defense, the No. 2 in rating in the last month (105.3 compared to the Thunder’s 105.1) and No. 2 across the season. Head coach Tyronn Lue should lean on that tonight against the Suns, entirely an offense-driven roster. With Leonard expected to be available tonight, Los Angeles’s defense should be that much more locked in.

One of the greatest strengths of that defense is how it limits good looks from deep, with opponents making just 33.0% of their 3-pointers in the last month. Of the Suns’ roster, that is most likely to impact Grayson Allen.

The Clippers come into this game with a record of 33-18, sitting comfortably in the playoff picture in the Western Conference. Led by stars Kawhi Leonard and Paul George, the Clippers have been a force to be reckoned with on both ends of the court.

On the other side, the Suns have been a pleasant surprise this season, boasting a record of 35-14 and currently holding the second seed in the Western Conference. Chris Paul has been instrumental in the team’s success, along with young stars Devin Booker and Deandre Ayton.
