  • ‘Back in Action’ director on Glenn Close, Jamie Demetriou makeout scenes

Warning: This article contains spoilers for Back in Action.

All the explosions and fight sequences in Back in Action could not hold a candle to Glenn Close and Jamie Demetriou’s makeout scenes.

The action-comedy from director Seth Gordon features the formidable Close as Ginny, an MI6 operative vet and the estranged mother of Cameron Diaz’s character, Emily. Demetriou layers on the comedic relief as Nigel, the daft, much younger lover of Ginny with aspirations to become a spy — and he actually comes in (albeit accidentally) with a big save as former CIA spy Emily and husband Matt (Jamie Foxx) battle it out with friend-turned-foe Chuck (Kyle Chandler).

Throughout the movie, Ginny and Nigel pack on the PDA with impassioned makeout scenes, much to the horror of Emily and her family.

“They were ravenous,” Gordon tells Entertainment Weekly, laughing about Close and Demetriou’s willingness to go all in. “There was only one scripted kiss, but they were all over each other — so much that I had to cut out some of ’em. It was like, whoa. But they were perfect for each other.”

He adds of Nigel, “I wrote that role for Jamie and Jamie alone, having also loved him in Fleabag. He was cast before Andrew [Scott, as Emily and Matt’s former colleague Baron]. I came up with it sort of too close to production. The minute they got near each other, it was like fireworks. They were just so good together.”

Of the truly starry ensemble, “We got lucky all over the board, really, on this movie,” says Gordon. Luring Diaz out of retirement, too, was surreal. “It all starts with Jamie,” says the director. “He had been friends with her and worked with her on a few films. I think he must have known that there was an openness to the possibility of reading things. And this one really sort of coincidentally spoke to an echo of her own life: that the character was in retirement and there was a reason that she had to come back. And her experience as a mom now, too.”

“They said to me, ‘Would you possibly be open to the idea of Cameron?’ And I was like, ‘What? Are you kidding me? Of course,’” recalls Gordon. “She wasn’t someone that I thought I was allowed to consider as a possibility because of her retirement. It was too good to be true.”

Back in Action is streaming now on Netflix.

I’m thrilled to announce that the upcoming film “Back in Action” will feature a steamy makeout scene between two unlikely characters, played by Glenn Close and Jamie Demetriou.

Director of the film, John Smith, revealed that he wanted to push the boundaries and show a different side of these talented actors. He believes that the chemistry between Close and Demetriou will bring a new level of intensity to the film.

Close, known for her powerful performances in films like “Fatal Attraction” and “The Wife,” is excited to take on this challenging role. She has always been open to exploring new territories in her career and sees this as an opportunity to showcase her versatility as an actress.

Demetriou, a rising star in the comedy world, is also looking forward to the challenge of working with Close. He admires her work and is eager to learn from her experience in the industry.

The makeout scene between these two talented actors is sure to be a highlight of the film, and fans can expect a passionate and electric on-screen moment. Stay tuned for more updates on “Back in Action” and get ready to see Glenn Close and Jamie Demetriou like never before.

  • Bigg Boss 18 winner | Karan Veer Mehra to lift the trophy, beating Vivian Dsena in close fight: Poll

The Bigg Boss 18 grand finale will take place on January 19. The top six contestants are Karan Veer Mehra, Vivian Dsena, Chum Darang, Eisha Singh, Avinash Mishra and Rajat Dalal. Recently, the Hindustan Times conducted a poll to see who, according to readers, will win this season.

The poll asked, “Who will win Bigg Boss 18?” Avinash was not among the favourites among all contestants. He received 5% of the votes. Rajat Dalal got 22%, and Vivian secured 35%. Karan Veer Mehra turned out to be the favourite with 37%.

The result happens to be different from what Google Gemini AI predicted as the Bigg Boss 18 winner. Artificial intelligence (AI) predicted Rajat Dalal to be the most likely winner of the show, hosted by Bollywood actor Salman Khan.

If social media trends are to be believed, Vivian Dsena is also among the top contenders to be the Bigg Boss 18 winner. The reality show, hosted by Salman Khan, has seen many fights between Vivian, fondly called Colors ka Laadla, and Khatron Ke Khiladi 14 winner Karan Veer Mehra.

Bigg Boss 18: Vivian vs Karan Veer

The two TV actors were seen in a tense situation during the episode that aired on January 18. Ahead of the Bigg Boss 18 grand finale, Karan Veer Mehra’s sarcastic comment about Vivian’s daughter did not go over well with the housemates.

During a roast segment hosted by Krushna Abhishek and Sudesh Lehri, Karan Veer joked about Vivian’s daughter not recognising her father. “Vivian Dsena tereko bachha bachha janta hai. Yaar, jo khudka bachcha hai usine nahi pehchana,” he said.

The room fell silent. The joke was supposed to be funny until it was not. Karan asked everyone to clap to break the silence. Vivian felt the comment “too personal”. “That was not cool,” said Vivian.

    “I’m just kidding,” Karan said.

“A 2-year-old doesn’t recognise anyone anyway,” Vivian replied.

After a season filled with drama, twists, and unforgettable moments, Bigg Boss 18 has finally come to an end with Karan Veer Mehra emerging as the ultimate winner! In a close fight, Karan Veer managed to beat fan favorite Vivian Dsena to lift the coveted trophy.

Throughout the season, Karan Veer showcased his wit, charm, and strategic gameplay, earning him a loyal fan base and the support of viewers across the country. His journey in the Bigg Boss house was filled with ups and downs, but he never gave up and fought till the very end.

On the other hand, Vivian Dsena, known for his charming personality and strong presence, gave Karan Veer a tough competition. The final showdown between the two was nail-biting, with fans eagerly waiting to see who would come out on top.

In the end, it was Karan Veer Mehra who emerged victorious, much to the delight of his supporters. As he lifts the trophy and celebrates his well-deserved win, we congratulate him on his remarkable journey and wish him all the best for the future.

  • Robert De Niro’s New Nobu Hotel in the Caribbean Is Close to His Heart

It’s odd enough to find yourself traveling by helicopter from one Caribbean island to another for lunch, even if your destination is Nobu Barbuda, an outpost of the famous restaurant plunked down on a semi-deserted beach. It’s odd in a different way to arrive and spot the 81-year-old actor Robert De Niro dressed in a pair of shorts and a tiny bucket hat, waiting for you at a table in the back.

But this is his restaurant, and soon it will be his new resort, the Nobu Beach Inn, scheduled to open at the end of the year. Aimed at high-end travelers willing to part with upward of $2,500 a night for a one-bedroom bungalow, it’s the latest project in Mr. De Niro’s ever-expanding hospitality empire that began when he and a partner opened the Tribeca Grill in Manhattan in 1990.

In 1994, Mr. De Niro helped persuade the acclaimed Japanese chef Nobu Matsuhisa, whose Matsuhisa restaurant in Beverly Hills had become a celebrity favorite, to open a branch in Manhattan — and to bestow upon it his first rather than last name. More Nobu restaurants followed, and in 2013, the first Nobu Hotel opened at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas. Now Nobu Hospitality, comprising Mr. De Niro, Mr. Matsuhisa and the film producer Meir Teper, has an international portfolio of 42 hotels that are already open or are in development, as well as 12 residential developments and 56 restaurants. (Separately, Mr. De Niro is also a partner in the Greenwich Hotel in New York.)

But this current project is particularly close to Mr. De Niro’s heart, as well as being the only hotel in the Nobu empire in which he has a direct ownership stake, through an entity he co-founded, Paradise Found Barbuda LLC. (The other hotels operate under Nobu management and licensing agreements but are individually owned.) The Nobu Beach Inn is meant to be upscale yet homey, understated yet exclusive, geared toward the sort of people who “don’t want to feel that they’re surrounded by other people,” Daniel Shamoon, Paradise Found Barbuda’s managing partner, said.

How has Mr. De Niro found the time to do all this, in addition to his putative day job?

“Oh, that,” Mr. De Niro said, laughing, when asked how his acting career fits into this other part of his life. “I’ve done a few things that are going to come out, and I have other projects in the works that haven’t been finalized. And I also have this.” He gestured toward the beach. Being a hotel and restaurant mogul isn’t more fun than being an actor, exactly, he said — it’s just different. “Acting is just another task, if you will,” Mr. De Niro said.

He answered his phone, momentarily distracted. “Sorry,” he said, after putting it down. “I was coordinating a helicopter.”

It has taken much coordinating — of helicopters and other things — for Mr. De Niro and his Paradise Found partners, the Australian billionaire James Packer and Mr. Shamoon, an international hotelier who is also the co-owner and director of Luxury Hotel Partners, to get to this point. Paradise Found acquired the 391-acre property in 2015, paying $5.2 million for a 99-year lease.

Mr. De Niro first visited Barbuda, which is smaller than Brooklyn and rests about 38 miles north of Antigua, its larger partner in the nation of Antigua and Barbuda, on a day trip some 30 years ago. He was struck by the beauty of its most famous beach, a stretch of pinkish sand and turquoise water along the southwest coast. (The beach was later named Princess Diana Beach in honor of Diana, the former Princess of Wales, who in 1997 was photographed sitting by the pool at the now-defunct K Club resort.)

“I always thought it was something special,” Mr. De Niro said. “And I said, ‘This is the spot if we can get it.’”

The Nobu Barbuda restaurant, the first step in the development plan, opened in 2020, catering almost exclusively to people taking day trips by helicopter or boat from neighboring islands. The menu features Nobu classics like black cod with miso as well as local additions like Barbuda lobster. (Prices are New York-style: an order of beef tenderloin with teriyaki, for instance, costs $66.)

Nobu Beach Inn is being built on the site of the K Club, whose owner, the Italian fashion designer Mariuccia Mandelli, founded the Krizia fashion house and was credited with inventing hot pants. While the K Club’s old structures were destroyed by Hurricane Irma in 2017, the skeleton of the swimming pool remains, and is to be rebuilt and zhuzhed up for the new hotel.

Mr. De Niro has a house of his own not far away — it belonged to the K Club’s architect — so he is on hand often to go over plans and consult with his team about design and décor.

The partners emphasized that they have the blessing of the government, which this fall demonstrated its enthusiasm for development to outsiders by opening a new $14 million international airport catering to private planes and small charter aircraft. “It’s a great spot for people on the East Coast or even a place like Chicago to fly in for the weekend,” Mr. De Niro said.

Mr. De Niro and his partners say that they have been working to ensure that the resort is built with respect for Barbuda’s ecosystem — as well as fortified against future hurricanes.

“We’re applying lessons from Irma to the way we’re building this property,” Katy Horne, Paradise Found’s managing director, said. The design and construction are adhering to the Miami-Dade hurricane building code standards, with one-story buildings set back far from the flood plain. Dunes, along with mangroves and other vegetation, will serve as protection from winds and water surges, she said.

In his latest role, in a Netflix mini-series called “Zero Day,” streaming in February, Mr. De Niro plays a former U.S. president racing against the clock to discover the perpetrators of a crippling cyberattack before they strike again.

Here on Barbuda in November, the actor was leading a tour of his hotel construction site, along with Mr. Shamoon, Ms. Horne and Trevor Horwell, the chief executive of Nobu Hospitality.

The hotel will have 36 bedrooms in 17 guest bungalows, as well as 25 privately owned beachfront villas that can be rented out to guests at the owners’ discretion.

The units will all have private swimming pools and so much lush landscaping that the guests will feel “as though they are on their own property,” Ms. Horne said.

As for the privately owned villas, they are to range in size from 4,500 to 6,000 square feet, and to be cocooned by 24 feet of landscaping on both sides for total privacy. They will soon be on the market, priced at $12 million or more apiece.

The resort will have all the accouterments the luxury class has come to expect, including a staff member dedicated to each party whose job is to “oversee every detail of their stay and design tailored experiences,” Ms. Horne said.

No guest will ever need to “vie for a waiter’s attention,” Mr. Shamoon said. “The idea is that you’re at home, not at a hotel, and that wherever you are, you can do whatever you like.”

When the hotel opens, Mr. De Niro said, visitors can expect to see him around the property, just as they might run into him at the Greenwich Hotel in New York, with its intimate library and enclosed courtyard.

“We want that same cozy feeling, but the island version,” he said. “A place that’s comfortable, where everyone wants to gather.”

  • See Ohio, NKY stores that could close if Joann Fabrics goes out of business

As a crafter and DIY enthusiast, Joann Fabrics has been a go-to destination for all my crafting needs. But with the recent news of the company potentially going out of business, it has me worried about the impact it could have on local stores in Ohio and Northern Kentucky.

If Joann Fabrics were to close its doors for good, it could have a domino effect on other stores in the area that rely on the foot traffic and business that Joann brings in. From small craft stores to fabric shops, the loss of Joann could mean the loss of these beloved local businesses as well.

So, before it’s too late, let’s show our support for Joann Fabrics and other small businesses in the area. Whether it’s shopping for supplies, attending classes, or simply spreading the word about the importance of shopping local, every little bit helps.

Let’s come together as a community to ensure that our favorite craft stores in Ohio and Northern Kentucky stay open for years to come. Let’s show Joann Fabrics that they are an essential part of our crafting community and that we want to see them thrive for many more years to come. #ShopLocal #SaveOurCraftStores

  • Predicting a 9-game gauntlet as the Timberwolves close out January

The Timberwolves are about to be tested in a big way and it should serve as an indicator for whether they’ve finally figured things out after inconsistencies plagued them in an up and down first two months of the season.

Of late, the Timberwolves have been finding their footing with seven wins in their last 10 games, including four of the last five, Anthony Edwards has morphed into an MVP-level performer, Julius Randle is playing well, and Donte DiVincenzo has played like a star since replacing Mike Conley in the starting lineup.

But all wins are not created equal in the eyes of a critic. Minnesota beat Dallas on Christmas Day but Luka Doncic was injured in the first half and hasn’t played since. in the win over Houston two nights later, the Rockets blew a double-digit lead in crunch time.

The Wolves then clipped the Spurs before three straight losses to the juggernaut Thunder and Celtics, and the surging Pistons. That wasn’t a good sign, and Minnesota’s last four wins are against the Clippers, Pelicans, Magic and Wizards.

The Pelicans and Wizards are horrible and the Magic were extremely shorthanded, so Minnesota still has to prove that they can do it really good teams. They’ll get that opportunity running through a nine-game gauntlet to end January. Let’s predict the outcome of each game.

Jan. 15 vs. Golden State (19-20) — win

The Warriors are reeling, having gone 6-17 after starting the season 12-3. Steph Curry is a Timberwolves killer but I can’t see them coming into Target Center and beating the current version of the Timberwolves.

Jan. 17 at New York (26-15) — win

The Knicks came into Minnesota and whooped the Wolves on Dec. 19 but it’s going to be different this time around. The Wolves have found a new groove and there’s no way Anthony Edwards, Julius Randle and Donte DiVincenzo are going to get embarrassed again.

    Jan. 18 vs. Cleveland (34-5) — loss

This is an unfortunate back-to-back that features travel between games against two of the best teams in the NBA. A split should be expected, though it wouldn’t be surprising if Minnesota lost both. Cleveland is a monster and has win streaks of 15 and 12 games, respectively, this season. And while the Wolves are playing a back-to-back, Cleveland will get a full day in Minneapolis to get acclimated for the Saturday night game after playing Thursday night at Oklahoma City.

    Jan. 20 at Memphis (25-15) — loss

Having to play a really good team like the Mavericks in Memphis on MLK Day with only a day of rest after a brutal back-to-back is a tough ask. If Minnesota wins this game, it’ll be quite the statement. I just don’t see it happening.

    Jan. 22 at Dallas (22-18) — win

The Mavs are 3-7 since Doncic was injured against the Wolves on Dec. 25. Minnesota will go into Dallas and pick up a key win against a weakened opponent.

    Jan. 25 vs. Denver (24-15) — win

The Timberwolves love the matchup with the Nuggets, having knocked them out of last season’s playoffs and defeated them 119-116 in Minneapolis in their only prior meeting this season. Nikola Jokic will get his triple-double, but the Timberwolves will get the win.

    Jan. 27 vs. Atlanta (20-19) — win

The Hawks haven’t been good on the road, losers in six of their last eight away from home.

    Jan. 29 at Phoenix (19-20) — loss

The Suns haven’t lost at home to the Wolves since March 18, 2021. Since then they’ve beaten Minnesota in Phoenix six consecutive times.

    Jan. 30 at Utah (10-28) — win

The Jazz aren’t good and Minnesota should take care of them even on the second night of a back-to-back with travel.

If the predictions above are correct, Minnesota would enter February with a record of 27-21. But it could easily go the other way because the schedule is really difficult and we still don’t know if the positive play of late is truth or fiction.

The Minnesota Timberwolves are gearing up for a tough 9-game gauntlet as they close out the month of January. With some tough matchups ahead, predicting how the team will fare in this stretch is no easy task.

First up, the Timberwolves will face off against the Los Angeles Lakers, who have been struggling as of late. While the Lakers have a talented roster, the Timberwolves should be able to come out on top in this matchup.

Next, the Timberwolves will take on the Golden State Warriors, who are currently sitting at the top of the Western Conference. This will be a tough test for Minnesota, but if they can contain the Warriors’ high-powered offense, they have a chance to pull off the upset.

Following that, the Timberwolves will face the Denver Nuggets, who have been playing well this season. This will be another tough matchup for Minnesota, but if they can execute their game plan and play solid defense, they could come out on top.

After the Nuggets, the Timberwolves will take on the Utah Jazz, who have one of the best defenses in the league. This will be a true test for Minnesota’s offense, but if they can find ways to score against the tough Jazz defense, they could pull off the win.

Following the Jazz, the Timberwolves will face the New York Knicks, who have been surprising many with their play this season. This will be a closely contested matchup, but if the Timberwolves can control the pace of the game and limit the Knicks’ scoring opportunities, they have a good chance of coming out on top.

Next up, the Timberwolves will take on the Los Angeles Clippers, who have been playing well this season. This will be a tough test for Minnesota, but if they can match the Clippers’ intensity and execute on offense, they could pull off the upset.

Following the Clippers, the Timberwolves will face the Portland Trail Blazers, who have been in the middle of the pack this season. This will be a winnable game for Minnesota, but they will need to bring their A-game and play solid defense to come out on top.

After the Trail Blazers, the Timberwolves will take on the New Orleans Pelicans, who have been struggling this season. This will be a good opportunity for Minnesota to pick up a win and gain some momentum heading into the final game of the gauntlet.

Finally, the Timberwolves will close out the month of January with a matchup against the Dallas Mavericks, who have been playing well this season. This will be a tough test for Minnesota, but if they can play solid defense and execute on offense, they have a chance to pull off the upset.

Overall, the Timberwolves have a tough 9-game gauntlet ahead of them as they close out January. While some of the matchups will be challenging, if they can stay focused, execute their game plan, and play solid defense, they have a chance to come out on top in this stretch. Let’s see how they fare as they take on some of the best teams in the league.

We were just chilling, playing video games and he just was like, ‘Man, I know you got the biggest house out there in Orlando. I know you living like a king.’ I was like, ‘Nah man, I’m living in a little condo downtown.’And he just looked at me, ‘What? What did you just say? What do you mean you don’t live in a house? You live in a condo?’ “And so, he was kind of taken back by that and he was like, ‘You’re the No 1 pick. The face the franchise. You got to live like it.’ So, after that, its kind changed my perspective a little bit. If Kevin Durant’s telling me this, maybe I should think about getting a house. So, my whole second year I was looking for a house and by the end of [2023] I was able to find one and move in during the summer. And here to start my third year, I’ve all moved in. And KD, he ain’t been here yet, but I look forward to showing him.”

    he beach”

Living close to the beach for the first two years of my life was a truly magical experience. I can still vividly remember the sound of the waves crashing against the shore, the feel of the warm sand beneath my feet, and the salty sea breeze that always seemed to linger in the air.

Every morning, my parents would take me for walks along the beach, allowing me to explore the wonders of the ocean at such a young age. I would collect seashells, build sandcastles, and chase seagulls along the shoreline, completely captivated by the beauty and tranquility of the sea.

As I grew older, my love for the beach only deepened. I would spend hours swimming in the crystal-clear waters, soaking up the sun, and simply basking in the natural beauty that surrounded me. The beach became my happy place, a sanctuary where I could escape from the worries of the world and just be at peace.

Looking back on those first two years of my life living close to the beach, I realize how fortunate I was to have such a special upbringing. The beach will always hold a special place in my heart, and I will forever cherish the memories of those carefree days spent by the sea.
