The winter storm arriving to Coastal Virginia, Northeastern North Carolina is the same system bringing frigid temps and a rare winter storm to the Deep South.
NORFOLK, Va. — The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Southside Hampton Roads and parts of Northeast North Carolina Tuesday evening until early afternoon on Wednesday.
Areas closer to the coast in North Carolina, including Elizabeth City and the Outer Banks, are under a Winter Storm Warning.
This is because an arctic airmass has settled into the region. With very cold air in place, and moisture moving in tonight, there will be snow overnight. How much snow will vary greatly across the region.
