  • Cody Rhodes On Plans For John Cena’s Retirement Tour, Relationship With The Rock – PWMania

Cody Rhodes spoke with TheOneMona for an in-depth interview to promote tonight’s WWE Royal Rumble 2025 premium live event in Indianapolis, IN.

Featured below are some of the highlights.

On where he stands with The Rock: “I tell people always when it comes to The Rock and The Final Boss, I think personally that I feel he either sees something special in me and as the head of the board and as him and Nick Khan and Triple H leading us into this next generation, he sees something and wants to push me to go for it. That’s more from a behind-the-scenes perspective, but I also wonder in my own mind sometimes just kind of laying there looking up thinking maybe he hates me, absolutely hates me, and is planning some devious way to get back at me for the things that took place at WrestleMania 40, which he shouldn’t. I mean, the night before I won it all, he actually has a win over me. But I can tell you that I know people don’t love when the curtain gets pulled back too much. Really, really unique outside the box thinker and for a guy who’s been on every movie set, he’s been around the A list. He is A list. He’s walked into every room. I can look in someone’s eyes and know when they have the fever for wrestling when they’re a wrestler.I think we might hate each other, but we’re both wrestlers and I think that’s what the connection is about, it’s the idea that he knows if he puts me in a Macon, Georgia at a live event or somewhere around the country and I’m representing this company, which is also his company, that I won’t leave anybody hanging that I, that I will do my damnedest to deliver. So, yeah, but all that to say, I don’t know where we stand again. The dude could run up on me right now and pop me in the ear and we’d be right back in it, but I don’t know where we stand now. It’ll always be in question, but he’s certainly been helpful to me as champion.”

On possibilities for himself for John Cena’s “The Last Time Is Now” WWE retirement tour: “One thing that’s been on my mind, I think when he announced he was retiring, is a lot of guys jumped to the line of, I want to wrestle John. A lot of guys jumped to the, ‘I want to do something with John.’ I’m probably the one who didn’t hold his hand up and that’s simply because John is everything to me and and there’s been so many guys I’m a product of who i took a little something from. The most that I’ve taken from anybody ever would be from John, and that was from driving those few years of them seeing how he did his interactions with fans, how he would do main events, to see how he did the quarterback , the leader all those things. So when i hear this is it, It’s still not fully for me. I don’t love this is it and I know it is. I know he means it when he says it. But I want to watch like a fan. I almost dread the idea of what that would look like. Because when you’re up against John now, you’re tasked to beat John Cena in his final run and that’s why I’m not raising my hand to be in that spot.”

  • Cody Rhodes Reveals Who He Believes Is The Real Tribal Chief

    Generate Key Takeaways

There are a lot of wrestlers who have laid claim to the Tribal Chief, but Cody Rhodes believes there is only one.

Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes recently sat down with TheOneMona. When asked who the real Tribal Chief is, Rhodes bestowed Roman Reigns as the real Tribal Chief of WWE.

“Okay, well, from a reality standpoint, him and The Rock are both chiefs, real chiefs. Yeah, and I feel like I might have been naive and maybe a little uncultured, and knowing…it took me a while to kind of catch up. You know, when Mr. Heyman says something you should probably listen and that him going on about the ulafala and stuff.

“I don’t think I really fully got it. And now I’m thinking, like, ‘Oh, it’s not the Million Dollar Title.’ It is it is genuine. It is real. And he represents it so well. They both do so. But who’s the real Tribal Chief? I guess you’d have to say Roman is the real Tribal Chief. I’m not gonna say Solo, a child, petulant child. I’ll say all kinds of bad stuff about Solo….maybe one day [he’ll become Tribal Chief].” [H/T: WrestlingNews.co]

Cody Rhodes Reveals Who He Believes Is The Real Tribal Chief

In a recent interview with Sports Illustrated, AEW star Cody Rhodes shared his thoughts on who he believes is the real Tribal Chief in professional wrestling.

Rhodes, who is no stranger to the world of wrestling royalty himself as the son of the legendary Dusty Rhodes, had high praise for WWE Universal Champion Roman Reigns. He stated, “I think Roman Reigns has really solidified himself as the true Tribal Chief in wrestling right now. His character work and in-ring skills have been on another level, and he has truly established himself as a dominant force in the industry.”

Rhodes went on to commend Reigns for his dedication to his character and the way he has been able to connect with fans on a deeper level. He added, “Roman has done a fantastic job of evolving his character and making it his own. He has taken the Tribal Chief persona and run with it, creating a captivating and compelling character that fans can’t help but be invested in.”

While there may be other wrestlers who lay claim to the title of Tribal Chief, Cody Rhodes seems to believe that Roman Reigns has truly earned the right to be called the real Tribal Chief in the world of professional wrestling.

During a recent interview with TheOneMona ahead of tonight’s big event, “The American Nightmare” spoke about where he stands with “The Final Boss” Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, as well as possibilities for himself for “The Last Time Is Now” WWE Retirement Tour of John Cena.

Featured below are some of the highlights from the interview where he touches on these topics with his thoughts.

On where he stands with The Rock: “I tell people always when it comes to The Rock and The Final Boss, I think personally that I feel he either sees something special in me and as the head of the board and as him and Nick Khan and Triple H leading us into this next generation, he sees something and wants to push me to go for it. (H/T to Fightful.com for transcribing the above quotes.)

Cody Rhodes, the former WWE star turned AEW executive, recently sat down for an interview where he discussed his uncertain relationship with Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and his thoughts on potentially joining John Cena’s upcoming retirement tour.

In the interview, Rhodes admitted that he is not entirely sure where he stands with The Rock, despite rumors of a possible collaboration in the works. He expressed his admiration for Johnson’s work ethic and success in Hollywood, but also acknowledged that their paths have not crossed in quite some time.

As for Cena’s retirement tour, Rhodes seemed open to the idea of joining the iconic wrestler on his farewell journey. He mentioned that he has a great deal of respect for Cena and would be honored to be a part of such a momentous occasion in the wrestling world.

Rhodes also hinted at the possibility of returning to the ring for a special match or appearance during Cena’s tour, although nothing has been confirmed at this time.

Overall, it seems that Cody Rhodes is keeping his options open and is excited about the potential opportunities that lie ahead, whether it be working with The Rock or joining Cena on his final tour. Wrestling fans will have to wait and see what the future holds for this talented and versatile performer.

  • Cody Rhodes Is Hesitant To Want To Face John Cena During Retirement Tour

Several people are wanting to face John Cena during his retirement tour this year but Cody Rhodes is hesitant to count himself among them. Rhodes is the current WWE Champion, while Cena is going to be in the Men’s Royal Rumble at tonight’s WWE PLE.

In an interview with TheOneMona (via Fightful), Rhodes explained: “One thing that’s been on my mind, I think when he announced he was retiring, is a lot of guys jumped to the line of, I want to wrestle John. A lot of guys jumped to the, ‘I want to do something with John.’ I’m probably the one who didn’t hold his hand up and that’s simply because John is everything to me and and there’s been so many guys I’m a product of who i took a little something from. Cody Rhodes Is Hesitant To Want To Face John Cena During Retirement Tour

In a recent interview, Cody Rhodes opened up about the idea of facing John Cena during his retirement tour. While many fans would love to see the two wrestling icons go head-to-head one last time, Rhodes expressed some hesitation.

“I have the utmost respect for John Cena and everything he has accomplished in his career,” Rhodes said. “But facing him in the ring during my retirement tour is a daunting task. Cena is a true legend and I want to make sure that I am at my absolute best if I were to step into the ring with him.”

Rhodes went on to explain that he wants to make sure that his final matches are memorable and impactful, and facing Cena would be a huge opportunity to do just that. However, he also wants to ensure that he can give his all in the ring and put on a performance that both he and the fans can be proud of.

While the idea of Cody Rhodes vs. John Cena may be a dream match for many fans, it seems that Rhodes is taking a thoughtful approach to the possibility. Only time will tell if we will see these two superstars collide in the ring once again.

  • Rangers Sign Jesse Chavez, Cody Thomas To Minor League Deals

The Rangers announced that they have signed right-hander Jesse Chavez and outfielder Cody Thomas to minor league deals. They also announces previously-reported pacts for righty David Buchanan and catcher Chad Wallach. Chavez is represented by Apex Baseball and Thomas by Octagon. Both of them will be in big league camp as non-roster invitees.

Chavez, 41, has already written a lengthy baseball story. He debuted in the big leagues back in 2008 and has appeared in each season since then, suiting up for nine different clubs, having multiple stints with many of them.

That includes the Rangers. Chavez was drafted by Texas way back in 2002, but was traded to the Pirates prior to making it to the majors. He eventually found his way back to the Rangers, signing with them going into 2018, though he was traded to the Cubs that summer. Going into 2019, he came back to Texas yet again, signing a two-year deal at that time.

Despite his age, he has proven himself still capable of getting major league hitters out. He spent 2024 with Atlanta and tossed 63 1/3 innings over 46 appearances. He allowed 3.13 earned runs per nine frames, though there may have been a bit of luck there. His 20.8% strikeout rate was subpar but his .279 batting average on balls in play and 80.3% strand rate were both on the fortunate side, which is why his 4.43 FIP and 3.81 SIERA were higher than his ERA.

There’s no real harm in the Rangers bringing aboard an old friend via a minor league deal. The club has been trying to remake its bullpen while dealing with some notable financial restraints. Kirby Yates, David Robertson, José Leclerc and Andrew Chafin all hit free agency after last year, but the club has been a bit frugal in replacing them since it seems they want to stay under the competitive balance tax.

They acquired Robert Garcia, who has not yet qualified for arbitration, in the Nathaniel Lowe trade. They’ve also given one-year pacts to Chris Martin, Jacob Webb, Shawn Armstrong, and Hoby Milner, with no one in that group getting more than $5.5MM. It’s unclear what kind of salary Chavez would make if selected to the big league roster, but it’s likely not huge, so he provides the club with yet another modestly-priced addition to the relief group.

Thomas, 30, got into 29 games with the Athletics over the 2022 and 2023 seasons. He hit .250/.308/.333 in those but was outrighted off the roster and became a free agent going into 2024. He headed to Asia last year to play for the Orix Buffaloes of Japan’s Nippon Professional Baseball. He went hitless in 18 at-bats and was mostly kept on the farm by the Buffaloes, slashing .263/.335/.324 in 79 games in the minors.

The Texas Rangers have added two new players to their organization, signing pitcher Jesse Chavez and outfielder Cody Thomas to minor league deals.

Chavez, a veteran right-handed pitcher, brings a wealth of experience to the Rangers after spending 13 seasons in the majors with multiple teams. The 38-year-old has a career 4.52 ERA and has proven to be a reliable arm out of the bullpen or in the starting rotation.

Thomas, a former Oklahoma quarterback turned outfielder, was drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2016 and has shown promise in the minor leagues. The 27-year-old brings power and athleticism to the Rangers’ farm system and could be a valuable asset in the future.

Both Chavez and Thomas will provide depth and competition in the Rangers’ minor league system, and could potentially contribute at the major league level in the future. Fans will be eager to see how these new signings fare as they work their way through the Rangers’ organization.

  • Top three trade destinations for Hornets reserve guard Cody Martin

As we approach the NBA Trade Deadline, the Charlotte Hornets are probably going to consider trading Cody Martin. He’s a three-and-D player who isn’t likely to factor into their long-term plans, which makes him highly desirable across the NBA. There will probably be more than a few suitors for him, but these three teams make the most sense.

The Cleveland Cavaliers are one of the NBA’s best teams, which makes them very likely to target players like Cody Martin. He’s capable of defending multiple positions at a high level and can score on the occasion. Right now, Cleveland’s SF depth is weak with Isaac Okoro injured, leaving Dean Wade as the starter. This move would shore up the sole weak spot in the lineup and provide defensive versatility and depth as the Cavs go all-in on their best year in quite some time.

The Houston Rockets boast a ferocious defense, something that can be aided by the addition of Cody Martin. He’s a stout perimeter defender, and he’d be a perfect role player in Houston. He fits the identity they’ve forged under Ime Udoka and would help them rise in the West. Right now, their wing depth isn’t great and Martin can play the two, three, or four in instances just like Dillon Brooks. They’re a younger team, which means Martin being under contract for next year means this isn’t just a rental for an up-and-coming unit.

Unlike the other two teams on this list, the Los Angeles Lakers actually need the help to get to the top of their conference. Both the Rockets and Cavs would be fine without Cody Martin, but the Lakers need to make a move. They’re 23-18 and need some perimeter play badly. Their backup PG and SG is currently Max Christie, so Martin is a need for them in more ways than one. The Lakers also have the 22nd-best defensive rating, so they could use a stopper out on the wing.

    1. Los Angeles Lakers: The Lakers could use a versatile wing player like Cody Martin off the bench to provide depth and defense. With LeBron James and Anthony Davis leading the way, Martin could thrive in a supporting role for a championship-contending team.
    2. Philadelphia 76ers: The 76ers are in need of perimeter shooting and defensive help, and Cody Martin could provide just that. Playing alongside Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons, Martin could excel in a system that emphasizes defense and versatility.
    3. Dallas Mavericks: The Mavericks could benefit from adding a young and athletic player like Cody Martin to their roster. With Luka Doncic leading the way, Martin could provide valuable depth and energy off the bench for a team looking to make a deep playoff run.
