  • Chuck Todd tells colleagues he’s leaving NBC News

Chuck Todd is taking his podcast and going home.

The former “Meet the Press” moderator circulated a memo to colleagues at NBC News informing them that he would be departing 30 Rock, according to several reports. Todd confirmed his departure.

His last day at NBC News was Friday.

“There’s never a perfect time to leave a place that’s been a professional home for so long, but I’m pretty excited about a few new projects that are on the cusp of going from ‘pie in the sky’ to ‘near reality,’ Todd told NBC News staffers in a memo Friday.

“So I’m grateful for the chance to get a jump start on my next chapter during this important moment.”

Todd confirmed his departure on Friday. When The Post sought comment from Todd via his NBC work email, the automatic message read: “Friday, January 31st was my final day at NBC.”

According to the memo, Todd told colleagues that he intends to take his podcast with him.

The “Chuck Toddcast” is “coming with me,” according to Todd, who urged colleagues to “stay tuned for an announcement about its new home soon.”

Earlier this month, Semafor reported that Todd was plotting his exit from the Peacock Network as his contract was due to expire later this year.

Todd, who was once a key cog in NBC’s political coverage, has reportedly been busy lately taking up meetings with several media organizations to plan his next steps, according to Semafor.

The Post has sought comment from NBC News.

The 52-year-old Florida native joined NBC in 2007 and quickly became a fixture in the network’s national political coverage.

In 2014, he was named moderator of “Meet the Press,” the long-running Sunday morning political talk show, replacing David Gregory.

Gregory, who hosted Meet the Press from 2008 to 2014, struggled to maintain the show’s dominance after Tim Russert’s passing, as declining ratings and criticism of his interview style led to his eventual replacement by Todd.

In addition to his “Meet the Press” gig, Todd hosted a weekday political program “MTP Daily” on sister cable network MSNBC and contributed to NBC’s political website.

In 2023, Todd announced he would step down as host of “Meet the Press” to focus on long-form projects. He was replaced by the current moderator, Kristen Welker.

Speculation about Todd’s future at the network ramped up last year when he was among the voices who criticized NBC News management for its decision to bring Ronna McDaniel, the former Republican National Committee chair, on board as a paid commentator.

In March 2024, NBC News hired McDaniel as a political contributor.

The move sparked significant internal backlash, with big-name NBC and MSNBC hosts such as “Morning Joe” co-hosts Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski, Rachel Maddow and Niccole Wallace expressing strong objections due to McDaniel’s past support of Donald Trump’s claims regarding the 2020 election.

Facing mounting pressure, NBC reversed its decision and parted ways with McDaniel just days after her hiring.

Todd’s departure comes during a period of flux at parent company Comcast, which like other media giants is grappling with a rapidly changing landscape that has seen a mass migration of viewers away from linear television and toward digital and streaming.

Comcast, the $129 billion Philadelphia-based telecoms giant, is making major changes by spinning off several of its cable networks, including USA Network, CNBC, MSNBC, E!, Syfy, Oxygen and Golf Channel into a separate company to give them more financial independence and flexibility.

The company is also raising prices on Xfinity services, with most customers seeing increases on their bills starting in January, as part of its strategy to adapt to shifting consumer habits and industry competition.

Shares of Comcast were up by 1.25% as of 11 a.m. Eastern Time on Friday. The company’s stock was selling on Nasdaq at $33.66 a share.

In a shocking announcement, Chuck Todd, the longtime host of NBC’s “Meet the Press,” has reportedly told his colleagues that he is leaving NBC News. Todd, who has been with the network for over 12 years, is said to be pursuing new opportunities in the media industry.

During his tenure at NBC, Todd has become one of the most recognizable faces in political journalism, known for his insightful analysis and tough questioning of politicians. His departure will undoubtedly leave a void in the network’s political coverage.

While Todd has not yet made a formal announcement about his departure, many of his colleagues have expressed their sadness at the news. NBC News has not yet commented on the situation, but sources say that Todd’s last day at the network will be in the coming weeks.

We wish Chuck Todd all the best in his future endeavors and thank him for his years of dedicated service to NBC News.

  • Chair Cassidy, Scott, Colleagues Introdu…

WASHINGTON – U.S. Senators Bill Cassidy, M.D. (R-LA), chair of the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions (HELP) Committee, and Tim Scott (R-SC) introduced a resolution recognizing January 26 – February 1 as National School Choice Week. U.S. Representatives John Moolenaar (R-MI), Tim Walberg (R-MI), chairman of the House Education and the Workforce Committee, and Burgess Owens (R-UT) introduced this resolution in the U.S. House of Representatives.

“All families should be able to choose the school that best fits their child’s needs, regardless of zip code or income,” said Dr. Cassidy. “School choice empowers parents and ensures children have every opportunity to succeed.”

“During school choice week, we celebrate the transformative impact education freedom has on the lives of so many students and families. But school choice week also serves as a stark reminder that the magic of a quality education is still out of reach to countless children who desperately need it,” said Senator Scott. “Leaving our kids’ education and the future of America’s children to chance is simply not an option. Transforming our nation’s education system and ensuring every child has access to a quality education must be our call to action every single day.”

“Parents and students deserve to have the chance to pursue the best education available to them, one that provides the best environment for learning. School choice gives students the opportunity to achieve their highest potential with an education that fits their needs. Recent years have shown again how important it is for parents to have a role in their child’s education. I am grateful for the support of my colleagues as we introduce this resolution to recognize parents’ rights,” said Representative Moolenaar.

“This week and every week we celebrate empowering families by giving them the opportunity to choose what school will best suit their child’s unique needs. Thanks to school choice policies, students have a wide range of options and are not limited by their zip code. Our children are our future; it is our duty to ensure they have access to a high-quality education. I applaud Rep. Moolenaar for introducing this education freedom resolution,” said Chairman Walberg.

“Millions of kids in failing school districts can’t meet basic reading and writing standards, and our national test scores are plummeting. Our education system is failing America’s students, and school choice is how we turn it around. Parents should have the power to make the best decisions for their kids, and students should have access to an education that fits their needs, not one determined by their zip code. During School Choice Week, we continue the fight to ensure every family is empowered and every child has the opportunity to reach their God-given potential,” said Representative Owens

The Senate resolution is cosponsored by U.S. Senators James Lankford (R-OK), Ted Cruz (R-TX), John Cornyn (R-TX), and Cynthia Lummis (R-WY).

The resolution is also cosponsored by U.S. Representatives Randy Weber (R-TX), Aaron Bean (R-FL), Dan Meuser (R-PA), Juan Ciscomani (R-AZ), Vern Buchanan (R-FL), Dale Strong (R-AL), Darrell Issa (R-CA), Riley Moore (R-WV), Kat Cammack (R-FL), Jack Bergman (R-MI), Nancy Mace (R-SC), Julia Letlow (R-LA), Mariannette Miller-Meeks (R-IA), Rich McCormick (R-GA), Scott Fitzgerald (R-WI), Mike Kelly (R-PA), Joe Wilson (R-SC), Tim Moore (R-NC), Eric Burlison (R-MO), Neal Dunn (R-FL), Tom Barrett (R-MI), Mark Green (R-TN), Scott Franklin (R-FL), Dan Newhouse (R-WA), Buddy Carter (R-GA), and John James (R-MI).

Chair Cassidy, Scott, Colleagues Introduce Bipartisan Legislation to Address Mental Health Crisis

In a united effort to tackle the growing mental health crisis in our country, Chair Bill Cassidy (R-LA) and Ranking Member Tim Scott (R-SC) have introduced bipartisan legislation alongside their colleagues. The bill, titled the Mental Health Crisis Response Act, aims to improve access to mental health services, provide training for first responders, and increase funding for mental health research.

Chair Cassidy emphasized the importance of addressing mental health issues, stating, “Mental health is just as important as physical health, and we must ensure that individuals in crisis have the support and resources they need. This legislation will help bridge the gap in mental health care and improve outcomes for those struggling with mental illness.”

Ranking Member Scott echoed these sentiments, adding, “The mental health crisis is a pressing issue that affects individuals and families across the country. By coming together in a bipartisan manner, we can make meaningful progress in addressing this crisis and ensuring that all Americans have access to the care they need.”

The bill has garnered support from both sides of the aisle and is expected to be a top priority for Congress in the coming months. Stay tuned for updates on the Mental Health Crisis Response Act and how it will impact mental health care in our communities.

  • Patrick Mahomes And His Colleagues Put On Notice About Home Security As Burglary Runs Rampant

Patrick Mahomes And His Colleagues Put On Notice About Home Security As Burglary Runs Rampant

The FBI has finally made headway in the string of burglaries that has plagued several A-listers like Patrick Mahomes

The Kansas City Chiefs quarterback and other athletes recently received warnings from the FBI to beef up their home security and prioritize keeping their movements low-key. These A-listers need to be extra vigilant because of organized crime groups.

These thieves broke into Patrick Mahomes’ home in October before hitting the property of his teammate Travis Kelce. The pair joined an ever-growing list of celebrities targeted by these groups who regrettably continue to evade the law.

FBI Warns Pro Athletes About The Dangers Of Organized Burglary Groups

    MEGA

The FBI issued their warning to pro athletes in a statement, revealing groups of organized thieves were targeting their homes. They shared their findings about these criminal gangs days after NBA star Luka Doncic became the latest victim of a home invasion.

The feds explained that these thieves chose to raid the homes of A-listers whenever they were on the road or at games. However, these groups were not afraid to hatch their robbery scheme in the homeowners’ presence, making them a significant threat to everyone’s safety.

“These homes are targeted for burglary due to the perception they may have high-end goods like designer handbags, jewelry, watches, and cash. While many burglaries occur while homes are unoccupied, some burglaries occur while residents are home,” the FBI officials said per TMZ, adding:

“In these instances, individuals are encouraged to seek law enforcement help and avoid engaging with criminals, as they may be armed or use violence if confronted.”

A-listers Need To Increase Their Home Security

The FBI shared that the culprits appear to originate from South American groups who use “preparation tactics” to get in and out of homes with stolen goods before they can be caught.

“Organized theft groups bypass alarm systems, use Wi-Fi jammers to block Wi-Fi connections and disable devices, cover security cameras, and obfuscate their identities,” the feds claimed. On that note, they advised athletes to beef up their home security.

Additionally, the FBI urged them to take note of their valuables and refrain from sharing social media updates whenever they were away from home. The athletes that have been robbed in recent months, excluding Mahomes, Kelce, and Doncic, include Joe Burrow, Bobby Portis Jr., and Tyler Sequin.

Athletes Aren’t The Only Celebrities In Danger Of Home Invasions

Simu Liu at the 19th Annual Asian American Awards

    MEGA

While the FBI’s alert focused on pro athletes, they were not the only ones getting targeted by burglars. The Blast covered that celebrities like actor Simu Liu were not safe from these cunning thieves.

The Marvel star became the latest victim of Los Angeles’ increasing string of robberies when a home invader trespassed onto his luxurious 4,700 square feet property. The culprit reportedly smashed a glass door around 11 p.m., setting off the security systems.

The invader escaped before police arrived; however, reports confirmed nothing valuable was stolen from Liu’s property. Other celebrities who suffered home invasions in 2024 include Tom Hanks, Marlon Wayans, and Tyler Perry.

Mahomes Revamped His Home Security After The Burglary Incident

Last month, The Blast shared that Mahomes had beefed up his home security following October’s burglary incident. Sources claimed he made necessary adjustments and heightened his property’s protection measures but did not reveal the changes.

The burglary also affected Mahomes’ gated community as they increased their defense systems to ease residents’ minds. The security update came shortly after the NFL superstar addressed the home invasion during a press conference.

Obviously, it’s frustrating. It’s disappointing. It’s something you don’t want to happen to anyone, but especially to yourself,” Mahomes lamented. It was unclear if he and his family had been present when the burglary occurred, but he noted more details about the incident would be revealed later.

Patrick Mahomes Was Fined For ‘Violent Gesture’ In A Game

Weeks after addressing the burglary incident, Mahomes found himself in trouble with the NFL over his poor sportsmanship. The Blast noted he was punished for making a “violent gesture” during his touchdown celebration in the fourth quarter of a game against the Buffalo Bills.

NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero confirmed that the athlete received a $14,069 fine for his behavior. This is another unfortunate punishment during a BBillsmatch. Last season, Mahomes was penalized with a $50,000 fine for “verbally abusing” officials during a postgame press conference.

The NFL began cracking down on “obscene gestures” made by athletes during their celebrations, especially “gun-related” signs. The league has issued 17 fines this season, with NFL commissioner Roger Goodell noting it was necessary as they did not stand behind these inappropriate gestures.

From fines to groups of organized thieves targeting their homes, pro athletes like Patrick Mahomes have much to worry about.

With the recent surge in burglaries targeting high-profile athletes, Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes and his colleagues are being urged to take extra precautions to protect their homes and families.

In recent months, several NFL players have fallen victim to burglaries, with thieves targeting their luxury homes while they are away competing in games or traveling for various commitments. With the rising popularity of social media, it has become easier for criminals to track the movements of athletes and identify when they are not home.

To combat this threat, security experts are advising athletes to invest in advanced home security systems, including surveillance cameras, motion sensors, and smart locks. Additionally, they are encouraged to keep a low profile on social media and refrain from posting their whereabouts in real-time.

As one of the most recognizable and highly paid athletes in the NFL, Patrick Mahomes must take extra precautions to ensure the safety of his loved ones and valuables. By being proactive and diligent about home security measures, he can deter potential burglars and enjoy peace of mind both on and off the field.

In these uncertain times, it is crucial for athletes to prioritize their safety and well-being, and investing in top-notch home security is a small price to pay for peace of mind. Let’s hope that Patrick Mahomes and his colleagues take this warning seriously and take the necessary steps to protect themselves from becoming victims of burglary.
