I recently finished reading “Gregor the Overlander” by Suzanne Collins and I have to say, I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed it. This middle-grade fantasy novel tells the story of a young boy named Gregor who falls through a grate in his apartment building’s laundry room and discovers a whole new world beneath the city of New York.
The world that Gregor finds himself in is filled with strange creatures, including giant rats, bats, and cockroaches, as well as humans who have been living underground for centuries. As Gregor embarks on a quest to find his missing father, he must navigate this dangerous and mysterious world, facing challenges and making unlikely allies along the way.
Collins does a fantastic job of creating a vivid and imaginative world that is both thrilling and captivating. The characters are well-developed and engaging, and the plot is full of twists and turns that kept me hooked until the very end.

Will Isaiah Collier keep up his hot streak?
Isaiah Collier has been finding his footing in the league. Over the last four games, Collier has averaged 15.5 PTS, 5.0 REB, 9.8 AST per game on 42/38/73 shooting. He still struggles with shooting and turnovers at times, but his ability to get into the paint and create offense has been eye-opening. Tonight, he’ll have to face the best defense in the NBA, with a backcourt stacked with elite defenders. This will be a big test for the rookie.
After a brief hiatus due to injuries, Lauri Markkanen and John Collins are set to make their return to the Utah Jazz lineup as they take on the Oklahoma City Thunder. The Jazz will be looking to bounce back from a tough loss in their last game and will be counting on the return of Markkanen and Collins to provide a boost to their offense.
Markkanen, who has been dealing with a nagging ankle injury, will be looking to pick up where he left off before his absence. Former Georgia Rep. Doug Collins will appear before the U.S. Senate Veterans’ Affairs committee for his confirmation hearing on Tuesday.
The Senate committee originally scheduled for Collins, who is President Donald Trump’s nominee to be secretary of the Veterans Affairs Department, to testify last week. However, the FBI hadn’t completed its customary background check yet and the committee postponed the hearing.
Collins will begin testifying at 10 a.m. on Tuesday. If he is confirmed, Collins would lead the Veterans Affairs Department in the new Trump administration.
For his military background, Collins served as a U.S. Navy chaplain for two years in the 1980s. He later joined the U.S. Air Force Reserve as a chaplain in wake of the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks. He remains a colonel in the Air Force Reserve.
Collins’ political career began in 2007 and served three terms in the Georgia State House until 2013. He later won his seat in U.S. Congress in 2012 and represented Georgia’s 9th Congressional District until 2021.
During his time in Congress, Collins became the House Republican Conference’s vice chair and a ranking member of the House Judiciary Committee.

Former Representative Doug Collins, an Air Force Reserve chaplain who defended President Trump during his first impeachment investigation, is set to testify in a confirmation hearing on Tuesday morning after being chosen by Mr. Trump to lead the Veterans Affairs Department.
Mr. Collins, a Navy veteran and fast-talking former pastor, is set to appear before the Senate Veterans’ Affairs Committee as the first potential cabinet official to face confirmation hearings after Mr. Trump took office. His hearing was delayed by a week because of an incomplete background check.
Like many of Mr. Trump’s other cabinet selections, including Pete Hegseth, his nominee to oversee the Defense Department, Mr. Collins reflects the new president’s priorities in filling out agency leadership for his second term, with personal loyalty central to each selection.
Mr. Collins is not expected to face a difficult confirmation fight, in part because of the bipartisan and apolitical nature of much of the department’s work managing a sprawling health system and veterans’ benefits.
Dr. David Shulkin, the former V.A. secretary who was the lone Obama administration holdover in Mr. Trump’s first-term cabinet before being pushed out of the job, said in an interview that Mr. Collins would most likely need to focus on the same priorities as his predecessor, Denis McDonough.
“Because the issues the V.A. deals with are systemic and complex, and unfortunately the same ones that were there when the last secretary was in,” Dr. Shulkin said.
Mr. Collins is in some ways an unusual choice. Previous V.A. secretaries have had long military careers, or held senior roles at the Defense Department or the Veterans Affairs Department itself. In the House, Mr. Collins did not serve on the Veterans’ Affairs or Armed Services Committees.
As a member of the Air Force Reserve, Mr. Collins deployed to Iraq, visiting with injured service members at Balad Air Base.
Mr. Trump’s experience fending off impeachment inquiries during and after his first term heavily influenced how he chose political allies. Other House Republicans who defended him in the first impeachment inquiry were also chosen to serve in his cabinet, including Representative Elise Stefanik of New York and former Representatives Lee Zeldin of New York and John Ratcliffe of Texas.
“You have been so great,” Mr. Trump told Mr. Collins in a packed room of supporters at the White House after the Senate voted to acquit him.
In 2019, before the acquittal, Mr. Trump pressed Gov. Brian Kemp of Georgia to name Mr. Collins to the Senate seat vacated by Johnny Isakson. Mr. Kemp instead named Kelly Loeffler, a businesswoman. Mr. Collins ran against, and lost to, Ms. Loeffler in a special election for her seat in 2020. Mr. Trump chose Ms. Loeffler last month to lead the Small Business Administration.
Even with his zeal to protect Mr. Trump during his first term, Mr. Collins nurtured a reputation for working with Democrats, coauthoring criminal justice reform legislation with Representative Hakeem Jeffries of New York, now the top House Democrat.
Some of Mr. Collins’s duties at the Veterans Affairs Department may involve divisive health care policies. A second Trump administration may seek to reverse a Biden administration rule allowing the department to provide abortions to veterans when a pregnancy resulted from rape or incest, or when the life of a pregnant woman is at risk.
But much of Mr. Collins’s portfolio will likely involve seemingly intractable problems that have trailed past secretaries from Republican and Democratic administrations, including behavioral health access.
A report published by the department last month showed that there were more than 6,400 suicides among veterans in 2022, fewer than 12 of the 14 prior years but a slight increase from the year before. The number of homeless veterans dropped to a record low under President Joseph R. Biden Jr., but remained above 32,000 between January 2023 and January 2024.
“There’s a big backlog of demands and needs,” Dr. Shulkin said.
Like past secretaries, Mr. Collins will also likely need to tend to aging V.A. facilities with outdated medical equipment and record-keeping systems. The department oversees roughly 1,200 sites across the country that serve almost nine million veterans.
Mr. Collins on Tuesday is likely to be pressed about his views of private medical care for veterans. During Mr. Trump’s first term, the department began allowing veterans to seek medical care outside of traditional V.A. hospitals, an effort intended to give more flexibility to patients.
But critics have said that continuing to push veterans out of the V.A. system could compromise the integrity of its own health care.
“There’s this grass is greener on the other side of the field sensibility to it,” Joe Plenzler, a retired Marine Corps officer and veterans’ advocate, said. “What the data show is that when veterans get care at the V.A., they’re happier with it and get better-quality care.”
Were Mr. Collins to continue the first Trump administration’s push, Mr. Plenzler said, it could “turn the V.A. into an insurance company.”

Jeremy Collins was onto Danielle Reyes. He had her pegged as a Traitor and was starting to float her name around the castle. He was right, of course, but the fact he correctly saw through the lies is what ended up getting the Survivor champion “murdered” on this week’s episode of The Traitors.
Jeremy was shortlisted for murder along with Nikki Garcia and Ciara Miller at the start of the episode, meaning the three had to cram themselves into coffins and then wait to find out which one would literally get the nail in the coffin. Even with his last-ditch plea to work with the Traitors if they spared him, Jeremy was eliminated.
What does Jeremy make of being murdered by two fellow Survivor alums in Boston Rob Mariano and Carolyn Wiger? How did he realize Danielle was a Traitor? And what would he have done had he escaped the evening with his reality television life still intact? We asked the Traitors’ third victim all that and more.

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: Okay, how long did you actually have to lie down in that coffin?
JEREMY COLLINS: Longer than I wanted to, but I will say that it was cold that night. It was freezing, and in the coffin was warmer than outside, so it wasn’t bad. But no one wants to lay in a coffin, you know what I mean? It sucked.
Did they actually hammer a nail into your coffin while you were in it, ’cause that seems dangerous?
They did! They gave me the heads up and said, “If you feel funny in there, just knock on it and we’ll get it open really quickly.” I’m pretty good. As firefighters, we have to do a lot of that crawling into confined spaces and stuff, so I was all right.
Boston Rob and Carolyn, your fellow Survivors, they take out Tony and you back-to-back. What is going on here?
Man, I don’t know. I was bummed. Listen, it’s my fault. I put it on me. I opened my mouth to too many people. But I was trying to gain some trust with my people, and after looking back afterwards, I’m looking at it and saying: Boston Rob, I know his game. This is what he does. He’s over everything. I get it.
Carolyn, I thought she was going to have my back more. I sat her down one time and we had a really good conversation, heart to heart. I was like, “Don’t let anyone block your shine. Don’t worry about anybody else. You just be you and don’t worry about anything else.” And we had a really good moment. I thought I was good. I thought I had a lot of allies throughout the castle.

Tony called Boston Rob a sellout. Do you agree or disagree?
I don’t think Rob’s a sellout, but this is Rob. You know what I mean? This is who he is. This is how he plays. He’s for himself and that’s it. Listen, I’ve wanted to play with Rob on Winners at War. He took out Natalie and I was like, “It’s fine, we’re good. I want to work with you. I want you to be my meat shield.” That’s what I was looking for. And we couldn’t get on the same page.
And then we took out Ethan, and he really didn’t trust me. And I’m like, “Yo, it wasn’t a shot at you. It was to get Ethan out of there so we could work together.” And he never wanted to work with me going into Traitors. I didn’t think that we were going to be on the same page because we left it like that. But when he was on, I was like, “All right, well good, we can play together now. Let’s go.” And I don’t know, we just were never on the same page, me and him.
It’s interesting because Boston Rob’s whole thing was he’s got to protect the Traitors, so he targets you when you start to realize Danielle is a Traitor, but then he immediately flips and takes out a Traitor himself the very next day.
I think I was one episode off. If I could just get through that killing, I think I would’ve been in a better spot to move on.
You were on to Danielle as a Traitor pretty much from the jump. What tipped you off?
So I said to Derrick, “If Danielle asked you for a Shield, she’s a Traitor.” Because nobody was after Danielle. She should not be worried about anything. Even when I got the Shield from Wes, I almost said, “I don’t think I need it. Give it to someone that needs it.” But then I’m not going to do that. I took it. So I said, “If she asks for a Shield, Derrick, she’s a Traitor.”
And she would cry. And it was just a not believable cry, you know what I mean? And I’m a guy that, when a female cries, it kind of opens up my heart. I tend to believe it more. And I did not believe it at all. It was just doing too much. It was overacting and stuff. And I said, “Oh, she’s got to be one.”

When you laid down in that coffin, did you know it was you?
I did not know it was me. I had a feeling that I might be able to get out of this. It happened so fast. I will say, I thought that once Ciara said whatever she said with like, “We’re going to find you, blah, blah,” I said, “Oh, she’s a Traitor. She’s not even trying to hide it. She’s a Traitor.” And I thought me and Nikki kind of gave a similar answer. So it could have been me and Nikki. I was just like, “It could be me. It’s a 50-50 shot.” I had no clue.
In your final plea to stay safe, you directly addressed the Traitors and said, “You all know I’m trying to find you all, but if you keep me, I’ll work with you.” Is that true? And, if so, what would that have entailed exactly? Or was that just some BS you were spewing?
Listen, I was throwing a Hail Mary. I was just swinging for the fences. I was trying to get to stay in the game immediately. I said, “Oh my God, if I get out of this now, I have to go and tell everybody, ‘Listen, I’m not a Traitor. I’m not helping ’em out.’” I knew it was going to be a tough road for me because of what I said. But I’m telling you, Dalton, as soon as we left, as I left, I went: You know what I should have said? I should have said, “I’m not talking to the Traitors. I’m talking to all the Faithful. I’m a Faithful, I only throw out one name and I’m in here. So if I’m gone, that person’s a Traitor.” And then I’m going back and thinking: Well, what if she wasn’t a Traitor? And then they take me out. So I don’t know, man. I’m all over the place. Yo, that game is hard, man. Traitors is really hard.

Yeah, talk about not being able to trust anyone. You’re used to it on the island, but this is a whole other level. So you were teary after being eliminated as you talked about wanting to provide for your family, but look, I play fantasy football against you. I know how competitive you are. How much of your pain in that moment was simply a competitor who just lost a big game?
So this is what these reality shows do to me. They know what gets me, and it’s my family. So they started talking to me about my family, and that always gets me. But I was more frustrated in myself and I am like, “What did I do wrong? Did I mess up? Where did I talk too much? Where did I not talk enough?” So it was all in my head. I was really disappointed in myself. And I thought I could have gone really far in the game. I never think I’m going to win, but I always think I’m going to make a good push towards the end. And then once you get to the end, anything can happen. It’s like fantasy football.
What’s some stuff that happened out there about your game that didn’t make it to TV?
I will say the car rides are the biggest thing because they say, “Alright, group up, get into cars.” And it’s huge to see who’s grouping up with who and jumping into cars with each other. Derrick is my guy. And there was a car ride where I was talking to Tony and I said, “I’ll jump in with you.” And Derrick came over right after and he’s like, “Hey, you want to get in the car?” And I said, “Oh, I’m already with Tony.” And I should have said, “You know what? I’m good with Tony. I don’t need to talk to Tony. Let me go with Derrick.”

Whom else did you want to work with besides Derrick if you’d stayed in the game?
I wanted Derrick. I wanted Nikki. I thought me and Robyn were good. I thought I got a good read on Robyn. I knew she wasn’t a Traitor, and she was just kind of easy to read. She’s just out in the open. Dolores was kind of easy to read. I wanted to work with everybody, but I couldn’t even get my alliance going. With so many people, you’ve got to just play with everybody until you can kind of figure it out towards the end when it gets weaned down.
Anything surprise you watching the show back on TV?
I was surprised that Dylan jumped on Bob the Drag Queen so fast. After Dorinda was gone, I watched Bob come in, and he didn’t even look up at the board to see who was murdered. Didn’t even look. And he was just like, “Oh, what? And I looked at him, I was like, ‘Yo, he didn’t even look. How does he even know? He’s a Traitor.’”
And then I talked to him for five minutes. I have a twin brother who is gay, and I was like “Bob’s just like my twin brother. That’s just who he is. He’s not a Traitor.” I wish I talked to Dylan more. I think if me and Dylan got on the same page, we could have done some things. So seeing a lot of things that Dylan is doing, I like that. But the castle’s big and there’s a lot of stuff that you don’t see.
In the latest season of “The Traitors,” Jeremy Collins opened up about how his history with Boston Rob ultimately led to his downfall in the game.
Collins, who previously played alongside Boston Rob in “Survivor: Winners at War,” revealed that their previous alliance and friendship made him a target among the other players. Despite his best efforts to distance himself from Boston Rob, the damage had already been done.
“I tried to separate myself from Boston Rob and prove that I could play my own game, but the other players just couldn’t see past our history together,” Collins said in a confessional. “It ultimately led to my blindside and elimination from the game.”
Fans of the show were shocked to see Collins, a fan-favorite player, get taken out of the game so early. Many took to social media to express their disappointment and frustration with how things played out for him.
Despite his early exit, Collins remains optimistic about his experience on “The Traitors” and is grateful for the opportunity to play the game once again. Only time will tell if he will get another chance to redeem himself in future seasons.

After being murdered on The Traitors, Jeremy Collins weighed in on that shocking banishment twist — and what it means for Rob “Boston Rob” Marianomoving forward.
“I think Wes [Bergmann] sussed it out real quick and now he’s just passing that around. So I think Rob is skating on the ice again,” Jeremy noted. “Rob, you should have worked with me and this wouldn’t be happening right now. Because I would have been like, ‘He’s not a Traitor. He’s good. Leave him alone.”
Jeremy suggested that Boston Rob “watch out now” because he has “people coming for” him, adding, “Derrick [Levasseur] actually would tell me, ‘Listen, I’m not a Traitor but one of those other two that came in are Traitor — Wes or Boston Rob. He’s telling people so Rob is now in trouble. He has to watch out now.”
Survivor hasn’t done a Faithfuls vs. Traitors theme yet, but this season of The Traitors could be an adequate substitute. The newest episode, which premiered on Thursday, January 17, kicked off with a murder in plain sight when the Traitors — Bob the Drag Queen, Danielle Reyes, Carolyn Wiger and Boston Rob — wrote three names down to be on the shortlist. Jeremy, Nikki Bella and Ciara Miller were the final choices, but it was the Survivor alum who didn’t make it.

“I forgive everybody. I’m a gamer so there’s no hard feelings on anything,” Jeremy told Us about being murdered in the fourth episode. “I do like that Carolyn was crying though. I had her back. We had a really good sit-down and I was like, ‘Carolyn, you shouldn’t worry about anybody else. You are a beautiful soul. Don’t let anyone stop your shine.’ I just think it was bad gameplay because I had all three of their backs.”
Jeremy does have one regret. After Jeremy, Nikki, 40, and Ciara, 28, were put in coffins before the Traitors chose who to murder, they were given the chance to plead their case. Jeremy surprised his fellow contestants when he said he would help the Traitors if he was kept around — despite his status as a Faithful.
“It was a twist that I wasn’t prepared for. I didn’t think I was going to be in there right away. I go in and then I’m like, ‘OK, one of these other two are Traitors.’ So I’m running that through my mind, and then [host Alan Cumming] tells us the rules of what’s going to happen,” he recalled. “A lot of stuff is going on. I said that I would help the Traitors if they save me.”

Jeremy continued: “As soon as I say it, I’m like, ‘Damn, I shouldn’t have said that. Now if they do save me now I have to go and fix it with 20 other people right now.’ It was a lot going on. Then as soon as I was out of the coffin, I thought how I should have said, ‘I don’t talk much, but I did name one person that if I’m gone tomorrow, that person is the Traitor.’”
“I do a lot of listening and watching. I wish I did that a little bit more,” he said before sharing a story about how his game plan shifted. “That’s how we work in Survivor. We get alliances and I usually don’t do that in my survival game. I would go to each one individually and talk to them [but not in groups]. I think I just talked too much, that’s all.”
But when it comes to Boston Rob, 48, Jeremy doesn’t think he would have had any success even if he tried a different approach, adding, “I played with Rob before on Survivor and I wanted to work with him on The Traitors. … But he never wanted to work with me, ever. So coming into this, I was like, ‘Let’s work together.’ And that’s who he is. He doesn’t want to work with me. So he doesn’t play well and he doesn’t share his toys.”
Jeremy still had a great time watching Boston Rob turn on Bob the Drag Queen, 38, even though the Traitors were on the same team.

“I thought it was great television. If they kept me — if Bob kept me — I would’ve been on Bob’s side,” Jeremy told Us. “I would’ve fought for Bob. I just think I was gone too soon, and I think it was a bad decision. If I waited one more [challenge] and that happened, it would’ve blown open the game and I would’ve been off and running.”
New episodes of The Traitors will be released on Peacock Thursdays until March 6.
