Why Is the Vans Warped Tour Returning Now?
In a recent Rolling Stone interview, Warped founder Kevin Lyman admitted there was a sense of longing now that the festival has been out of the summer circuit in recent years.
“Since 1997, I said I was hoping that there was some kid in a garage that was going to come out and kick Kevin Lyman’s ass someday, and put on a better festival,” he stated. “People start remembering once something’s gone that it was important, it was fun — and I’m hoping to recapture a lot of that again.”
What’s New and What’s Not?
Each of the cities on the 2025 tour have two dates instead of one. Within that parameter, Lyman reveals, “We’re getting very, very selective in trying to find some unique twists to the lineup.” He confirms there will be 70 to 100 bands joining at each stop.
Though not new, Lyman also adds that giving new artists a platform will be part of the festival’s continued history that he wants to carry over. “I’ve always felt we need to pay homage to the past, but we’re looking to the future of the artists and the community,” Lyman says.

What’s not new is the affordable price. One of the big factors that made Vans Warped Tour so successful over the years was a fan-friendly price. That continued for 2025 with two-day tickets going for $149.98 (after fees).
Pasquale Rotella of Insomniac event promotion told Rolling Stone, ““[Lyman’s] been really committed to making this about the people, and making sure that people can afford to come. It really starts with Kevin making that step, and holding his ground, and having that confidence in the community.
Lyman credited the bands for buying in as well. “Some of them had to call their teams and say, ‘No, I want to do this,’” he explains. He also reveals that certain bands also called other bands to get them on board for playing as well. “Making a community strong can’t be just an individual thing,” Lyman says, “It takes everyone out there.”

Isaiah Thomas is headed back to the G League in hopes that he’ll be able to make another NBA comeback. Thomas, who was out of the league for the 2023-2024 season, played four games with the Salt Lake Stars last season and turned that into a short sting with the Phoenix Suns.
According to ESPN’s Sams Charania, Thomas will rejoin the Stars with his eyes set on a 13th season in the NBA.
Two-time All-Star Isaiah Thomas is pursuing another NBA return, signing into the G League and rejoining the Utah Jazz’s Salt Lake City affiliate, sources tell ESPN. Last season, Thomas averaged 33 points in four G League games en route to a call up to the Suns.

Thomas was drafted by the Sacramento Kings with pick No. 30 in the 2011 NBA draft. He became a fan favorite in Sacramento before he was traded to the Suns in the summer of 2014. The Suns then traded Thomas to the Boston Celtics where he became an All-Star. After two draining seasons the Celtics unceremoniously traded Thomas to the Cleveland Cavaliers and his career was never the same as he bounced around the league and fought injuries.
Thomas will turn 36 next month.

Ex-Celtics guard signs with Danny Ainge’s team in comeback attempt (report)
Former Celtics guard Isaiah Thomas is attempting another NBA comeback and he’s leaning on some old friends once again. Thomas is signing with the Jazz’s G League affiliate, the Salt Lake City Stars, per ESPN’s Shams Charania.
When Thomas attempted a return to the league last season, he went through the same route by signing with Danny Ainge’s G League squad. He revealed the former Celtics president helped him get the opportunity for a chance back in the league.
Thomas, 35, succeeded in getting back to the NBA last season. After playing a handful of games in the G League, filling up the scoring sheet, the 5-foot-9 guard was signed by the Suns. Thomas appeared in six games in Phoenix, averaging 1.3 points and 0.5 assists per game. He was initially signed to 10-day contracts before the Suns elected to keep him for the rest of the season.
It’s no surprise Thomas is looking to get back into the league. He’s been vocal for years that he just wants an opportunity to keep playing at the highest level. At this point in his career, he’s just a bench guard who provides some veteran leadership, but he’s also adamant he can still play.
Thomas could end up back on a roster as a veteran guard. Down the stretch of the season, teams give out 10-day contracts to guys like Thomas to round out a roster. That’s again looking like the likely path for Thomas to end up back in the league.
Thomas played for the Celtics from 2015-17, quickly becoming a fan favorite. He enjoyed his best years in Boston, which included two All-Star appearances and a fifth-place finish in MVP voting in the 2016-17 season. Thomas has also played the Kings, Cavaliers, Lakers, Nuggets, Wizards, Pelicans, Mavericks and Hornets during his NBA career.

According to recent reports, former Celtics guard Isaiah Thomas has signed with Danny Ainge’s team in hopes of making a comeback in the NBA. Thomas, who last played for the New Orleans Pelicans, is looking to reignite his career with the help of Ainge, who was the general manager of the Celtics during Thomas’ time in Boston. This move comes as a surprise to many, as Thomas has faced numerous challenges in recent years, including injuries and struggles to find a consistent role on a team. However, with Ainge’s support and guidance, Thomas is determined to prove that he still has what it takes to compete at the highest level.
Fans of Thomas and Ainge’s team are excited to see what the future holds for the former All-Star guard. With his scoring ability and determination, Thomas could be a valuable asset to Ainge’s team as they look to make a playoff push in the upcoming season.

Kentucky’s comeback attempt comes up short in 74-69 road loss to Vanderbilt
Kentucky nearly overcame a 14-point halftime deficit, but far too many turnovers down the stretch cost the Wildcats.
On Saturday in Nashville, the Vanderbilt Commodores (16-4; 4-3 SEC) upset No. 9 Kentucky (14-5; 3-3 SEC) inside Memorial Gym by a final score of 74-69. After playing arguably its worst half of the entire season to start this game, Kentucky’s offense set the building on fire in the second half. A 14-point hole turned into a seven-point lead until Vanderbilt locked up the ‘Cats in the final minutes and snuck out the victory.
Kentucky was without starting forward Andrew Carr due to a back injury, but UK had more than enough opportunities to win this game. Credit to them for fighting back after such a terrible opening half, but a flurry of bad decisions late mounted a pile too high. Otega Oweh is not excluded from some of those mistakes, but he was the only reason UK had a chance. He finished with 21 points (8-14 FG) and 12 rebounds for this first double-double of the season.
Ansley Almonor (12 points on 4-5 3PT) and Jaxson Robinson (11 points on 3-5 3PT) were the only other Wildcats to reach double-figures. Kentucky shot 60 percent from the field in the second half, but 17 turnovers for the game marked a season-high. Vanderbilt shot 12-33 from deep with only five turnovers.
The crowd might have been mostly Kentucky, but the first half was mostly Vanderbilt. The Commodores outhustled and outshot the Wildcats in every aspect throughout the opening 20 minutes. Vanderbilt went 7-18 from deep while forcing UK into 10 turnovers. At one point, the ‘Cats turned the ball over five times across eight possessions. They had five turnovers in the final five minutes as Vanderbilt finished the half on a 20-4 run.
Kentucky was out of sorts and completely disoriented from the opening tip. Despite 10 very quick points from Vandy’s Jason Edwards, the score was actually close early on. The ‘Cats even led with roughly eight minutes left until the break. But Vanderbilt controlled every ounce of momentum from there. The ‘Dores attempted nine more first-half shots (38 to 29) and had UK looking like a team that hadn’t played a single game together.
Vanderbilt took a commanding 41-27 lead into the intermission — the fewest points scored in a half this season by UK. The ‘Cats shot 37.9 percent from the field and 4-14 from deep. Something had to change in the locker room. Luckily, it did early on.
Kentucky opened the second half by scoring eight unanswered points in the first two minutes, forcing Vanderbilt into a timeout. It was off to the races from there. At the first media break, UK had cut the Commodore lead down to 49-44. Kentucky’s offensive onslaught continued as Robinson’s three-pointer tied the game 51-51 going into the second media timeout.
A Lamont Butler layup then gave the ‘Cats its first lead since the middle of the first half. Kentucky went up by as many seven points as the energy of this game was flipped entirely on its head. It was a 31-13 run through the first 12 minutes of the second half as Kentucky went ahead 58-54. But Vanderbilt refused to go away. Some untimely mistakes for UK allowed the ‘Dores to take a 66-63 lead into the final media timeout.
The mistakes continued to mount for Kentucky too. A scoring drought of over three minutes mixed with more turnovers to close the game ended any chance of a last-ditch comeback effort. For the first time all season, the ‘Cats have dropped two games in a row. Up next is another road game as UK faces No. 6 Tennessee on Tuesday. The SEC schedule is only going to get tougher.
In a hard-fought battle on the road, the Kentucky Wildcats fell just short in their comeback attempt against Vanderbilt, ultimately losing 74-69.Despite a strong effort in the second half, Kentucky was unable to overcome Vanderbilt’s early lead. The Wildcats fought back with tenacity and determination, but ultimately fell short in the final minutes of the game.
Freshman guard TyTy Washington led the charge for Kentucky, finishing with a team-high 20 points. Forward Oscar Tshiebwe also put up a solid performance, recording a double-double with 15 points and 12 rebounds.
While the loss is disappointing, the Wildcats showed resilience and grit in their comeback attempt. They will look to learn from this experience and come back stronger in their next game.
Kentucky’s next matchup will be a tough test against a formidable opponent, but with their talent and determination, they have the potential to bounce back and secure a win. Stay tuned for more updates on the Wildcats’ season as they continue to push forward and strive for success.

#Kentuckys #comeback #attempt #short #road #loss #VanderbiltSeth Gordon on Cameron Diaz Comeback, Jamie Foxx Scare
Back in Action is headlined by Cameron Diaz’s comeback after 11 years away from acting, but Netflix’s most viewed weekend premiere in nearly three years is also Seth Gordon’s return to feature filmmaking.
Gordon — who’s most known as the director behind hit comedies such as Four Christmases (2008), Horrible Bosses (2011) and Identity Thief (2013) — hasn’t made a feature film since 2017’s Baywatch, and while his four films have averaged a box office gross of nearly $183 million each, his absence coincides with the comedy genre’s steady decline at the box office and widespread disappearance from major studio development slates. Gordon doesn’t have the definitive answer for why comedy is no longer the dominant force it once was at multiplexes, but he speculates that it could be a result of the hectic political climate that’s been in effect since 2017.
“[2017] was the time when comedy started to die down. I don’t know if there’s any relationship with that [administration] at all, but the mood of the country certainly shifted around then before Covid took it a step further,” Gordon tells The Hollywood Reporter. “So there’s a lot of us that are hoping for the pendulum to swing the other way. I’m holding my breath for that, certainly. We could use some stuff to laugh at, and it’s been a lot of superheroes and not enough comedy.”
Both before and after Baywatch, Gordon has quietly been a prolific pilot director and executive producer on a variety of notable television shows including The Goldbergs, Atypical, The Good Doctor, For All Mankind and The Night Agent. The success of Netflix’s Atypical and The Night Agent likely put the Chicago-area native in a favorable position to sell Back in Action, a spy action-comedy that was born out of Gordon’s original premise of how children would impact the espionage careers of Mr. and Mrs. Smith.
Gordon soon attached one of his Horrible Bosses stars, Jamie Foxx, in the role of Matt, a retired CIA operative turned family man. Foxx then took the initiative in order to cast the role of Emily, Matt’s partner in life and spycraft, by making the case to his former Annie (2014) co-star, Diaz, who retired following their 2014 collaboration to focus on motherhood.
“I was told that she wasn’t to be considered: ‘She’s fully retired. Don’t even think about it.’ But Jamie, who is friends with [Diaz] and has known her forever, had the first inkling of a possibility or an openness to reading something,” Gordon says. “They also share a manager, and the two of them got the script to her.”
Co-written by Gordon and Brendan O’Brien, Back in Action’s premise happened to overlap with Diaz’s 11-year hiatus from the screen, as Matt and Emily left the spy game once Emily discovered she was pregnant mid-mission. 15 years later, they’re drawn back in after utilizing their past skills to defend their daughter in what became a viral moment.
“It’s a really unexpected coincidence that the title and some of the themes and her character’s situation [as a retired spy turned mom] lined up with real life,” Gordon admits. “It’s almost as if Back in Action was meant to coax her out of retirement, but I swear it wasn’t. It’s just extraordinary timing and really good fortune and Jamie’s access, frankly.”
In April 2023, with two weeks remaining on the filming schedule, Gordon and co. had to shut down production due to a then-undefined emergency involving Foxx. The multi-talented performer publicly pulled back the curtain in last month’s stand-up special, What Happened Was…, revealing that he endured “a brain bleed that led to a stroke.” But at the time, Gordon only knew what the public knew, which was virtually nothing.
“They were, understandably, really private about whatever was going on. Of course, we guessed what was happening, but we were in the dark like everyone else,” Gordon shares. “There were a lot of crazy hypotheses floating around as you probably remember. So I tried to shut that out and just wait and not assume anything until I heard from his team and from Jamie himself.”
By the time Foxx recovered, the industry was in the midst of a double strike, and so Gordon had to wait patiently for the ability to reunite with Foxx and complete a critical section of the film’s first act in the suburbs.
“If we owed scattered little bits all over the film, I don’t know how that would’ve played out,” Gordon says. “But this was a missing 15-minute chunk, and we really needed it to even preview or screen the film properly. So we had to go back and do that, and hope that everything was going to be okay. And thank God it was.”
Below, during a recent conversation with THR, Gordon also discusses when he first knew that Diaz was “so back,” before looking ahead to his upcoming documentary about one of the four remaining pairs of ruby slippers from The Wizard of Oz.

The title, Back in Action, applies to Cameron’s career and the two main characters’ return to spycraft, but it’s also your first feature since 2017. Granted, there were two lost years in this industry, but were you just focused on launching show after show? I didn’t even realize how many notable shows you’ve helped launch (The Goldbergs, The Good Doctor, For All Mankind, The Night Agent).
Yeah, there was definitely a stretch there where I was focused on pilots, and the business has been reeling for a while, especially on the comedy side. People have run away from comedy a little bit. Really great scripts then came around in TV, so I’d try to sell shows. But I’m always responding to interests and natural curiosity, and films take a long time to make. They just do.

Streamers like Netflix have helped pick up the slack with regard to comedy, but overall, why do you think the genre is not as dominant as it once was theatrically?
God, you’d be able to answer that as well as I could. I don’t know if I should be on the record with this or not, but I feel like it coincided with Trump’s first time in the White House. [2017] was the time when comedy started to die down. I don’t know if there’s any relationship with that [administration] at all, but the mood of the country certainly shifted around then before Covid took it a step further. So there’s a lot of us that are hoping for the pendulum to swing the other way. I’m holding my breath for that, certainly. We could use some stuff to laugh at, and it’s been a lot of superheroes and not enough comedy.
Part of me can’t believe that we’re discussing Cameron Diaz’s comeback vehicle. I distinctly remember when she was introduced in The Mask, and the entire theater reacted as if she was already a movie star. So, how did you help convince her to end her extended sabbatical?
I was told that she wasn’t to be considered: “She’s fully retired. Don’t even think about it.” But Jamie, who is friends with her and has known her forever, had the first inkling of a possibility or an openness to reading something. So he was working behind the scenes a little bit, and he didn’t want to get anybody’s hopes up or make promises for something that might not come through. They also share a manager, and the two of them got the script to her. Then we met and really hit it off. So it’s a really unexpected coincidence that the title and some of the themes and her character’s situation [as a retired spy turned mom] lined up with real life. It’s almost as if Back in Action was meant to coax her out of retirement, but I swear it wasn’t. It’s just extraordinary timing and really good fortune and Jamie’s access, frankly.

Yeah, the movie’s storyline parallels Cameron’s maternal-related retirement and comeback 11 years later. Two married spies retire to raise their family, only to be pulled back in 15 years later. Did rewrites of the script lean into that meta quality?
Not really. It was born out of a couple things. I went to a Dodgers game with my friend [and producer] Beau Bauman. I actually call it a Cubs game because that’s how I saw it [as a native of Evanston, Illinois]. I was riffing about this notion that came out of nowhere: “What if Jason Bourne had a kid? What would happen in his life?” And Beau was like, “Did that just occur to you right now? I think that’s a movie.” And then we were like, “What if it wasn’t Jason Bourne? What if it’s Mr. and Mrs. Smith and they had kids?” So we kept going back and forth about it, and it just felt like a really promising premise. Then Covid hit, and Beau knew that I always wanted to write something from scratch. I’d done some rewrites on things, but I wanted to create something from the ground up. So we worked on the outline a little bit, and it was partly an expression of being on ice as we all were during Covid. We wanted to get back on set and have this period of Covid come to an end, and some of that DNA is in the concept too. So we realized that there could be a meta quality to it, but we didn’t feel like we needed to lean any harder into it. It was already there. And how often do you hear that about development? It’s pretty rare.
Did Cameron hit the ground running once she got to set? Or did she need a minute to find her sea legs?
Well, before she was even on set, she started training for the stunt sequences. So, in a way, she was already cruising, and one of the first scenes that was scheduled for her was that dramatic scene with Glenn Close in the kitchen. Mother and daughter go at each other, and she completely brought it. That’s really challenging material to do early in the schedule, and it was obvious that she’s a hundred percent still there. She’s still got it. We all looked at each other and were like, “Holy shit, she’s so good.” So we’re all just so glad she’s back.
Glenn Close, as Cameron’s character’s mother, was perfect casting. Did she join right after Cameron’s commitment?
Yeah, it was pretty soon after. It was a scheduling dance above everything. She was one of the first, if not the first, person we went to; she’s perfect for it, obviously. We talked on Zoom and connected really well, but then it just became about scheduling because she had a pretty full schedule. We had to start by December 2022 in order for her to be able to do it, and we had to find that location [in London], so there was typical production mayhem. But she entered pretty early in the process, and just knowing that it might be her helped me clarify and solidify stuff. That’s what also led to creating the Nigel character. He was a very late addition to the script, and he was conceived completely for Jamie Demetriou. I loved him in Fleabag, and I don’t know what we would’ve done if we didn’t get him for something that was created with him in mind.
Apparently, Jamie Foxx was caught off guard by Cameron’s enthusiasm to do stunts. If she was participating, it meant that he couldn’t sit them out. Is that true?
(Laughs.) That sounds like him, and yeah, there’s some truth to that. She brought so much intensity, and she always wanted to be the one who did it, not the stunt person. Of course, there were certain situations where we couldn’t let her do something, but she learned the choreography really well. Sometimes, when you’re cutting stuff together, you need to hide the actor and use the stunt person more, but the opposite was true here. So it put a little bit of pressure on Jamie. She’d done her homework and she was killing it, so he had to step it up too.
Jamie had quite a health scare during the filming of this movie, and thankfully, his recovery went so well that it’s now the subject of a stand-up special on Netflix. How far along were you when it happened?
It landed really late in our schedule after we had shot everything in London already. We had come to Atlanta to do three weeks of work, and a week in is when it happened. So we owed seven or eight days at that point, and it was just scary as hell. As he indicates in the special, they didn’t know exactly what happened. It’s a bit of a mystery what triggers those things, and while we know some of the symptoms, what really happens in there is not fully solved. So we were holding our breath for a long time, and by the time he was better, both strikes were happening. So it was a crazy process, and there were a lot of obstacles along the way.
But you ended up reconvening for some form of additional photography?
We shot the days that we hadn’t finished originally. The suburbs stuff is the one area of the movie that got interrupted, so we just went back and finished all of that. If we owed scattered little bits all over the film, I don’t know how that would’ve played out. But this was a missing 15-minute chunk, and we really needed it to even preview or screen the film properly. So we had to go back and do that, and hope that everything was going to be okay. And thank God it was.
Jamie Foxx and Director Seth Gordon on the set of Back in Action
John Wilson/Netflix
As you said, there was a period of uncertainty. During the early days of the initial assembly, were you pretty anxious that you might be looking at, God forbid, Jamie’s final performance?
I didn’t really let myself go there. I was hoping for the best, and I really had no information. We knew something was up, but they were, understandably, really private about whatever was going on. Of course, we guessed what was happening, but we were in the dark like everyone else. There were a lot of crazy hypotheses floating around as you probably remember. So I tried to shut that out and just wait and not assume anything until I heard from his team and from Jamie himself.
Cancelling the New York premiere was the right call given the harrowing circumstances in L.A. right now, but I’m glad you guys still got to walk down a carpet in Berlin last night. It would’ve been pretty disappointing if Cameron and Jamie didn’t get to mark the occasion after her break and his scare.
Yeah, that’s true, although that’s as much for pictures as anything else. They’ve both done that so many times. It’s just part of the perception.
It’s the mountaintop for the entire experience.
Yeah, you gotta do it.
Emily (Diaz) and Matt (Foxx) struggle to connect with their kids, and I read that you wrote this movie for your son. Were you feeling like these characters? Was this movie a means of connection for the two of you?
Actually, not really. He was a part of the process as I was creating the story, and I would run things by him, so we were connected through it. The disconnect in the family was based on witnessing my sister and my parents fight when I was kid. That’s what informed the conflict, and that’s why the central story arc is daughter-mother-grandmother. Those intergenerational misunderstandings felt like the right way to go. It was an organic and dynamic process as we were working on the script, and that’s just where it headed. But it would be misleading for me to say it was about me and my son.
There was a recent kerfuffle online as a bunch of creatives shot down a report that Netflix has writers write overly descriptive dialogue in case viewers are watching something passively (e.g. folding laundry, checking email). They all said they’ve never received such a note from Netflix. Is that foreign to you as well?
I wasn’t told that. But there was actually a really cool part of the process where the filmmaker is invited to get really specific, if they want to, about what’s going to appear in the subtitles or not. It can be an automated process, but there are certain things that fall between the cracks, so you may want to call attention to stuff that plays visually. A really important part of modern filmmaking is thinking about that element because so many people watch that way. Last night in Berlin, we watched the English version with German subtitles, and because I’ve memorized the movie at this point, seeing what unexpected details they chose to call attention to and not was fascinating. So it’s an additional storytelling tool that you have to take advantage of at this point.
In a perfect world, what would you do next?
Boy, I am deep in on a documentary that I’ve been working on for 15 years, so that partly answers your “where the hell have you been” question. (Laughs.) But it’s been completely fascinating, and I’ll be finishing that up. It’s about [The Wizard of Oz’s] ruby slippers. I know the guy that owned [one of the four remaining pairs worn by Judy Garland], and he toured around the country with them. Then they got stolen, and they were presumed gone for ten years until an FBI sting. It turned out these mafia guys were the ones that stole the ruby slippers because they’re worth so much, but then they couldn’t sell them. They couldn’t move the stolen product, and it’s just an amazing story. A couple weeks ago, they sold at an auction for $28 million. So this [former] struggling actor [Michael Shaw], who’s now in his eighties, has closure to this huge saga in his life as a result of how unexpectedly this all played out. So I think it’s going to make for a captivating doc.

Back in Action is now streaming on Netflix.

Don Lemon believes disgraced NBC host Matt Lauer can make a comeback: ‘The public misses him’
Ex-CNN host Don Lemon thinks former “Today” host Matt Lauer can come back after his 2017 sexual assault allegation scandal.
“Whenever I see Matt out and about or even with if we go out to dinner – my husband and I go out to dinner with him and his fiancée – people love him,” Lemon said on the “Hollywood Raw” podcast Wednesday. “Women love him. They’re like, ‘Man – oh, my God – can I get a picture? I love you. I miss you on television. Blah blah blah.’”
He added, “I think the public loves him, the public misses him, but it’s just the – it’s the people inside the business who are afraid.”

DON LEMON SLAMS MORNING JOE FOR PREACHING ‘CIVILITY’ WITH TRUMP: ‘SMILE IN THEIR F—ING FACE’
In the clip flagged by The Daily Mail, Lemon suggested that if “canceling is over” thanks to the new “Trump era,” there could be a chance that Lauer will return to the news.
‘I’ll put it this way,” Lemon said. “I think the general public would accept Matt back, and I think people would watch him. And I think the ratings would be great.”
He also complimented Lauer, saying, “Let me say this – there are certain people who are meant to do what they are doing. Do you know what I mean? Who are just really, really good at it.”
“I think that if he could come back to digital, he can set his own course,” Lemon added.

Lauer was fired from his job as “Today” host in 2017 amid the height of the #MeToo movement after an employee claimed he took part in “inappropriate sexual behavior” with her at the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics.
Almost two years later, a book by Ronan Farrow contained graphic rape allegations by his accuser. Lauer denied the allegations and insisted the sexual acts were mutual.
“It is alleged that an extramarital, but consensual, sexual encounter I have previously admitted having, was in fact an assault. It is categorically false, ignores the facts, and defies common sense,” Lauer wrote.

“I had an extramarital affair with [a colleague] in 2014. It began when she came to my hotel room very late one night in Sochi, Russia. We engaged in a variety of sexual acts… each act was mutual and completely consensual,” Lauer added.
Lemon himself was also accused of sexual assault in 2019. However, his accuser later retracted his story in 2022 after claiming he had misremembered the events of the night.

A bombshell Variety report in April 2023 also claimed that Lemon sent threatening text messages to a colleague and repeatedly exhibited misogynistic behavior at work. Though CNN defended him and claimed the report was “riddled with patently false anecdotes,” Lemon was fired later that same month.

In a surprising turn of events, CNN anchor Don Lemon has expressed his belief that disgraced former NBC host Matt Lauer could potentially make a comeback in the media industry. Despite the numerous sexual misconduct allegations that led to Lauer’s firing in 2017, Lemon believes that the public may be ready to forgive and forget.During a recent interview, Lemon stated, “I think Matt Lauer is a talented broadcaster and journalist, and I believe that the public misses him. People make mistakes, and if he is willing to take responsibility for his actions and show genuine remorse, I think there is a chance for redemption.”
Lauer’s downfall was swift and dramatic, with many of his former colleagues and viewers expressing shock and disappointment at the allegations against him. However, Lemon’s comments suggest that there may be room for Lauer to stage a comeback, given the right circumstances.
It remains to be seen whether Lauer will attempt to reenter the media landscape, and if so, how the public will react. But with Don Lemon’s support, it seems that Lauer may have some allies in his corner as he considers his next steps.

Alysa Liu tops Prevagen U.S. Championships short program in figure skating comeback
Alysa Liu won her first senior U.S. figure skating title at age 13. She retired at age 16. She has come back at age 19 and now leads after the short program at her first nationals in three years.
Liu tallied 76.36 points, taking a 5.13-point edge over fellow two-time U.S. champion Bradie Tennell going into Friday’s free skate in Wichita, Kansas (8 p.m. ET, NBC and Peacock). Defending champion Amber Glenn is third.
Liu landed a triple flip-triple toe loop combination, double Axel and triple Lutz. She finished, then buried her face in her hands, bent over her knees and appeared to tear up. She let loose on emotions that began stirring a few minutes earlier, when she first stepped on the ice for her program to “Promise” by Laufey.
“I almost cried before my name was even called,” she said on NBC Sports.
U.S. CHAMPIONSHIPS: Results | Broadcast Schedule
She was asked if her emotions were brought on by her clean program or by her return to the sport.
“Both of them together,” she said. “It was just the perfect moment for me.”
Back in 2019, Liu broke Tara Lipinski’s record as the youngest senior U.S. champion ever. She repeated in 2020. She placed sixth at the 2022 Olympics and earned a bronze medal at the World Championships a month later.
Two weeks after those worlds, she announced a retirement that may have surprised some. But she planned it privately the year before. Liu said that she was done with her figure skating goals and ready to move on with her life at 16 years old.
“I was so into skating that I really didn’t do much else,” she said before her return to competition in October. “Skating takes up your while life, almost. I don’t know if other people kind of feel the same when they look back at certain parts of their life, but for me, it’s definitely a blur, because it kind of meshes together, you know — going to the rink, going home, competing.
“There were many, many times when I didn’t enjoy it.”
She went more than a year without skating. Her return was sparked by a Christmas 2023 ski trip.
Now Liu can become the second women’s singles skater in the last 20 years to win three U.S. titles after Ashley Wagner.
She could also be headed to Boston for March’s World Championships. The three-woman team, picked by a U.S. Figure Skating committee, will be announced after nationals.
Glenn, undefeated this season, two-footed the landing of her opening triple Axel, then performed a triple flip-double toe loop combination rather than a triple-triple.
“The attack wasn’t there,” Glenn told coach Damon Allen as she came off the ice.
She’s bidding for a fourth podium in the last five years at nationals. Last month, she won the Grand Prix Final, the most prestigious title for a U.S. women’s singles skater in 14 years.
Earlier Thursday, Ellie Kam and Danny O’Shea topped the pairs’ short program, taking a sizable 8.09-point lead over Emily Chan and Spencer Howe into Saturday’s free skate.
Kam, 20, and O’Shea, 33, are bidding to become the first pair to repeat as national champion in 11 years.
“One of the first things I said to our coach when I got off was that was probably one of the scariest things I’ve ever done,” Kam said. “I love roller coasters and all of those kind of things, but that program, I think I didn’t take a single breath the entire time I was skating.”
Kam and O’Shea won the U.S. title in 2024 in their second season together. The last pair to win back-to-back national titles was Marissa Castelli and Simon Shnapir in 2013 and 2014.
Kam and O’Shea backed up last year’s domestic success on the international Grand Prix Series this past fall.
They finished fifth at December’s Grand Prix Final as the fourth different U.S. pair to qualify for the exclusive event over the last 15 editions. The Grand Prix Final takes the top six pairs in the world based on results from the Grand Prix Series.
O’Shea is already the oldest U.S. pairs’ champion since World War II. In 2026, he can become the oldest U.S. Olympic pairs’ skater since 1932 and the oldest figure skater from any country to make an Olympic debut since 1948, according to the OlyMADMen.
“I think they say something about fine wine, right?” O’Shea said Thursday. “It gets better with age. I don’t know. Maybe I’m smelly cheese. But we’re getting better. I can owe a lot to this one (Kam).”
Two U.S. pairs will compete at March’s worlds. Their results must add up to 13 or fewer (sixth and seventh, for example) for the U.S. to earn the maximum three pairs’ spots at the 2026 Milan Cortina Olympics. The U.S. last had three Olympic pairs in 1994.
Alysa Liu, the two-time U.S. figure skating champion, made a triumphant return to the ice at the Prevagen U.S. Championships short program. After taking a break from competition to focus on her training, Liu wowed the crowd with her technical prowess and artistic flair, earning the top spot in the short program.Liu’s performance was nothing short of spectacular, as she executed flawless jumps, intricate footwork, and captivating spins. Her grace and confidence on the ice left judges and spectators alike in awe, solidifying her status as a force to be reckoned with in the world of figure skating.
With her impressive showing at the U.S. Championships short program, Liu has set herself up for success in the upcoming long program. As she continues to push the boundaries of what is possible on the ice, fans can’t wait to see what she has in store for the rest of the competition.
Stay tuned for more updates on Alysa Liu’s journey at the Prevagen U.S. Championships and beyond as she continues to shine as one of the brightest stars in figure skating.

He trained alongside fellow first team keepers Liam Kelly and Mason Munn.
Former Motherwell man Kelly, 28, has filled in for Butland during his time out and kept a clean sheet in his first Old Firm clash on January 2.
He replaced the Englishman between the sticks 10 days earlier against Dundee when he dramatically left Ibrox to be with his partner while she gave birth.
Kelly then featured against Hibs, Dundee again, St Johnstone and Dundee, while Munn took the gloves for the Scottish Cup win over Fraserburgh.
Meanwhile, Butland getting down to work wasn’t the only positive sign for Philippe Clement at Auchenhowie.
He also welcomed back Tom Lawrence to the fold who hasn’t played since October.
Another former Man Utd star similar to Butland, the midfielder would have been hoping to feature against his old team at Old Trafford.
But Thursday’s match will likely come too soon for the Welshman.
