Five-star Chatsworth guard Alijah Arenas commits to USC
Eric Musselman knew well before he took the reins at USC that recruiting the Southland and its wellspring of hoops talent would be essential to his success with the Trojans.
“We have to recruit L.A.,” Musselman said after a game in December. “And not just recruit them a little bit. We have to recruit them relentlessly.”
That unrelenting approach on the recruiting trail had yet to fully resonate until Thursday, when five-star Chatsworth guard Alijah Arenas, one of the top uncommitted prospects in this year’s class, committed to the Trojans.
Arenas’ commitment marks the biggest recruiting victory of the Musselman era, the first five-star prospect to endorse the coach’s vision in L.A.
Arenas, the son of former NBA player Gilbert Arenas, is the No. 10 recruit in this year’s class and the second-ranked prospect in the state, according to 247 Sports. He picked USC over Arizona, among other schools.
“It felt like the best fit,” Arenas said while announcing his commitment on his father’s podcast, “Gil’s Arena.” “Seeing what USC was like, it made me feel special.”
Arenas, a 6-foot-6 guard, was named to the McDonald’s All-American game this week after reclassifying to become a senior. He’s averaging 31.8 points for Chatsworth in his third season for the Chancellors. The family decided to enroll him in a City Section public school rather than a private school in the hope it would help him improve as a leader and player facing double and triple teams.
Gilbert Arenas attended Grant High and Arizona, so USC’s success in recruiting Alijah might come as a surprise considering his father’s Arizona ties.
Arenas gives USC a trio of prospects in this year’s class, alongside top-50 guard Jerry Easter of Missouri and four-star St. John Bosco guard Elzie Harrington. They’ll join a roster next season that will look decidedly different. More than half the team will have exhausted its eligibility, making it even more critical that Musselman establish a foothold in Southern California.
With Arenas’ commitment, he’s on the right track.
Chatsworth High School standout Alijah Arenas has officially committed to play basketball for the USC Trojans, bringing his five-star talent to the Pac-12 powerhouse.Arenas, a 6’4″ guard known for his scoring ability and defensive prowess, chose USC over several other top programs who were vying for his commitment. With his exceptional skill set and basketball IQ, he is expected to make an immediate impact for the Trojans.
USC head coach Andy Enfield expressed his excitement about adding Arenas to the roster, stating, “Alijah is a dynamic player who can score from anywhere on the court. His skill set and work ethic make him a perfect fit for our program, and we can’t wait to see what he accomplishes at USC.”
Arenas’ commitment is a major win for the Trojans and further solidifies their status as a contender in the Pac-12. USC fans can look forward to seeing Alijah Arenas light up the scoreboard and make a name for himself in the collegiate basketball world.

Alijah Arenas commits to USC basketball on NBA dad Gilbert Arenas’ show
Eric Musselman just made his first big splash in the Los Angeles recruiting scene.
In less than a year at the helm of USC men’s basketball, Musselman has landed one of the nation’s top 2025 high school basketball prospects in Chatsworth High’s Alijah Arenas, the son of former NBA All-Star Gilbert Arenas.
Arenas made the announcement live on his father’s podcast, Gil’s Arena Thursday afternoon.
“For me it felt like the best it,” Arenas said of the decision. “Being on campus made me feel special.”
More than getting Arenas to commit, the signing shows how serious Musselman is about recruiting is own backyard. Keeping talent home is a huge coup to any college coach. Musselman gets huge points here.
Arenas, who reclassified in December from the 2026 to 2025 class, is ranked the No. 10 overall prospect in 2025, according to 247Sports.com. He chose USC over Kanas, Kentucky, Louisville, and Arizona.
The rangy, 6-foot-6 guard was selected to be a McDonald’s All-American this year after averaging 31.8 points, 7.5 rebounds and 4.3 assists per game. Arenas is the first McDonald’s All-American selected from the LA City Section since 2009 (Renardo Sidney, Westchester).
Arenas’ father, Gilbert Arenas, was a standout at Grant High of the City Section before going on to play at Arizona and in the NBA. It’s a full circle moment for Gilbert, who played for Eric Musselman when Musselman was the head coach of the Golden State Warriors in 2002-03.

Sources: Bucks’ Andre Jackson Jr. commits to dunk contest
Milwaukee Bucks forward Andre Jackson Jr. has committed to the slam dunk contest at NBA All-Star Weekend, sources told ESPN’s Shams Charania on Thursday.
Jackson, a 2023 NCAA champion at UConn, has emerged as a Bucks starter in his second season. He joins Chicago Bulls rookie forward Matas Buzelis and San Antonio Spurs rookie guard Stephon Castle so far in the dunk contest.
Jackson made highlight reels last season for his leaping ability on putback dunk attempts. He had his teammates jumping off the bench following a dunk in December against the Nets and then his head went above the rim on a missed putback opportunity last March against the Kings.
Milwaukee is 23-16 when Jackson plays and 20-11 since he joined the starting lineup, adding youthful energy to a veteran team. Per ESPN Research, Jackson has held opponents to 42% as the contesting defender, which ranks in the top 50 leaguewide (minimum 200 contests).
According to sources close to the Milwaukee Bucks, rookie forward Andre Jackson Jr. has officially committed to participating in the upcoming NBA Dunk Contest. The high-flying rookie has been turning heads with his explosive athleticism and highlight-reel dunks throughout the season, and fans are eager to see what he can bring to the competition.Stay tuned for more updates on the NBA Dunk Contest and Andre Jackson Jr.’s participation as the event approaches. #Bucks #AndreJacksonJr #DunkContest

#Sources #Bucks #Andre #Jackson #commits #dunk #contestTop-10 prospect Caleb Wilson commits to UNC over Kentucky
Top-10 senior Caleb Wilson, one of the highest-ranked uncommitted prospects remaining in the 2025 class, announced Thursday he has chosen to attend North Carolina over Kentucky.
Wilson, No. 6 in the ESPN 100, also included Ohio State in his final three schools.
“I picked North Carolina because of their culture and the history of the program,” Wilson told ESPN. “They were my first blue blood [offer]. Last year I went to the Duke at UNC game. I was courtside and it was a great experience. It was everything I was looking for in a program.”
The 6-foot-9 Wilson had a long, drawn-out recruitment with several schools looking like the favorites along the way. John Calipari made Wilson a priority early on while he was at Kentucky, and then continued to pursue him once he moved to Arkansas. As Wilson’s recruitment progressed, though, Kentucky and North Carolina moved into the top tier, while the likes of Tennessee, UCF, Georgia Tech and others faded.
The Wildcats and Tar Heels seemed to go back and forth in recent weeks, but UNC coach Hubert Davis was able to close his first five-star recruit of the cycle. It’s a critical recruiting win for Davis, who had previously missed on top targets A.J. Dybantsa (No. 1), Braylon Mullins (No. 25) and others.
“I love the passion and energy of coach Hubert Davis,” Wilson said. “I know he will push me to be my best and love me at the same time. He is a truth teller, and that’s what I want. We have watched film together. He tells me where I can be better. He is a man of faith, and we have a great connection. He plays his freshmen, too. I plan to help UNC win and win big. Then hopefully I can have a chance to be a one-and-done.”
Wilson has been considered one of the elite frontcourt prospects in the 2025 class for the past couple of years. He averaged 15.6 points, 8.3 rebounds and 3.5 assists on the Nike EYBL circuit as a junior, then followed it up by teaming up with Cameron Boozer and Cayden Boozer on Nightrydas Elite to win a Peach Jam championship last summer. He was terrific at the Peach Jam, averaging 17.3 points and 7.0 rebounds in eight games while shooting 62% from the field.
Wilson’s most evident attributes are his length, explosiveness and vertical bounce with a quick second jump. His ball skills in both transition and the half court have improved over the past year, while his agility to move in any direction is a big asset and has enhanced his ability to score inside a crowded paint. He’s effective as an off-ball cutter because of his footwork, quickness and movement. What makes him a matchup problem is his ability to step out and make 3s and handle the ball to keep defenses honest, while also growing as a willing passer with vision. At the other end of the floor, Wilson is a switchable defender who can stay in front of the ball or defend the low post.
The Tar Heels now have three ESPN 100 prospects in their 2025 recruiting class, with Wilson joining four-star guards Derek Dixon and Isaiah Denis. Davis and his staff could have a busy offseason, as RJ Davis is out of eligibility and freshmen Drake Powell and Ian Jackson are projected first-round NBA draft picks.
Carolina is struggling for the second time in three seasons, losing its past two games to Stanford and Wake Forest to drop to 12-8 overall and 5-3 in the ACC entering Saturday’s game against Boston College.
Breaking news in the college basketball world as highly-touted prospect Caleb Wilson has committed to the University of North Carolina over the University of Kentucky. Wilson, a 6’8 forward, is ranked as a top-10 prospect in the Class of 2023 and his decision to join the Tar Heels is a major coup for the program.UNC head coach Roy Williams expressed his excitement over Wilson’s commitment, stating that he believes the talented young player will make an immediate impact on the team. Wilson’s versatility, scoring ability, and high basketball IQ make him a valuable addition to the Tar Heels’ roster.
Kentucky fans are sure to be disappointed by Wilson’s decision, as they had been hoping to see him in a Wildcats uniform. However, UNC supporters are thrilled to welcome Wilson to Chapel Hill and are looking forward to seeing him in action next season.
With Wilson on board, the Tar Heels are poised to be a force to be reckoned with in the ACC and beyond. Stay tuned for more updates on Wilson’s journey with UNC basketball.

Harun Zrno commits as second Indiana basketball recruit in 2025 class
BLOOMINGTON — Indiana basketball added its second commitment in the 2025 class Friday, when Bosnian wing Harun Zrno committed to the Hoosiers over Wisconsin, Creighton and Virginia.
Zrno, a prolific shooter, visited all four schools recently, including a swing through Bloomington for IU’s win against Southern Cal earlier this month.
Insider:IU’s defining trait is frustrating inconsistency marked by low not seen since before World War I
“He’s 6-7, his body is ready to compete at the highest level,” Stevan Petrovic, Zrno’s adviser, told the IndyStar. “He’s the type of player who can score at any time. He has very good percentages outside the 3-point line. He’s not only a scorer or shooter. He can drive, finish around the basket strong, and he catches alley oops. He’s a good defender. Loves to pass the ball to his teammates.
“He’s just an all-around player.”
Need a break? Play the USA TODAY Daily Crossword Puzzle.
Currently playing for BC Slavija, Zrno averages 18.3 points per game, shooting 46.7% from behind the 3-point line. That’s in addition to 4 assists, 3.4 rebounds and 1.2 steals per game. He played for two years professionally in Latvia before returning to his native Bosnia this season.
Zrno’s film showcases a player with tight shot mechanics, good feel for space and a quick release. Stretching to 6-7, his high release point should make him difficult to guard at the college level.
He joins Montverde (Florida) Academy forward Trent Sisley, an Indiana native, in IU’s 2025 signing class. Zrno, who will turn 21 this year, will be a freshman in the fall.
Assistant coach Brian Walsh took point recruiting Zrno to IU, though Petrovic emphasized landing the 2025 wing was a group effort.
Homecoming?:IU recruit Trent Sisley likely to play at Chipotle Nationals in Central Indiana
“Brian was absolutely marvelous and outstanding, not to mention others as well, the whole coaching staff,” Petrovic said. “But the fan base, the atmosphere at the game against USC, facilities, talking to people around the campus, the city, everything clicked together, to be honest with you.
“The history of the program was, I would say, the triggering point for him in the decision.”

Exciting News: Harun Zrno Commits to Indiana Basketball! The Indiana Hoosiers have just landed their second recruit for the 2025 class, as Harun Zrno has officially committed to the program. The 6’6″ forward from Bosnia and Herzegovina brings a unique skill set to the team, with his versatility on both ends of the court.
Zrno is known for his scoring ability, being able to knock down shots from beyond the arc as well as finish around the rim with authority. His length and athleticism make him a defensive force as well, able to guard multiple positions and disrupt passing lanes.
Head coach Mike Woodson expressed his excitement about Zrno joining the Hoosiers, stating, “Harun is a talented player with a bright future ahead of him. We believe he will be a key piece in our quest for success in the upcoming seasons.”
With Zrno’s commitment, Indiana is building a strong foundation for the future, and fans can look forward to seeing him in action on the court. Congratulations to Harun Zrno on his commitment to Indiana Basketball! #GoHoosiers

Clemson transfer DL Tre Williams commits to Michigan
Sherrone Moore and Michigan have made another addition to their defense through the transfer portal, as Clemson defensive tackle Tre Williams has committed to the Wolverines.
It was announced on New Year’s Day that Williams was entering the transfer portal after being at Clemson his entire career. During that time, Williams has battled some injuries and has mostly been a rotational piece along the defensive front.
However, Williams is coming off the most productive season of his career, registering 14 tackles (including three for a loss), two sacks, two fumble recoveries and two pass deflections in 14 games.
Williams also graded out pretty nicely by Pro Football Focus, earning a 66.3 overall defensive grade, a 69.4 tackling grade and a 68.9 pass rush grade this past year. He was only credited with one missed tackle and one penalty all season, proving he is a very disciplined player along the line.
Williams originally played high school ball at St. Johns in Washington D.C. He was ranked as a four-star recruit and the No. 94 overall prospect in the 2020 recruiting cycle by the 247Sports composite.
Listed at 6-foot-2 and 315 pounds on Clemson’s website, Williams is a big (literally) addition to Michigan’s defense. The Wolverines lost Mason Graham and Kenneth Grant to the NFL this offseason, so it’s been paramount for Michigan to reload up front.
Williams will be joining former Damon Payne Jr. (Alabama) via the portal to help shore up the depth Michigan will have on the defensive line.
The additions of Payne and Williams, as well as guys like Derrick Moore and T.J. Guy — and potentially Rayshaun Benny as well — provide the Wolverines more to work with than fans might have originally expected, giving the Michigan a chance to once again have one of the best defensive lines in the Big Ten. We’ll have to wait and see what the finished product looks like, but the Wolverines are in a better place than they were when the portal initially opened.
Clemson transfer defensive lineman Tre Williams has announced his commitment to the University of Michigan. The 6’2, 300-pound Williams entered the transfer portal earlier this month and wasted no time in finding his new home in Ann Arbor.Williams, a former 4-star recruit out of St. Louis, Missouri, played in 15 games for the Tigers over the past two seasons. He brings size, strength, and experience to a Michigan defensive line that is looking to reload for the upcoming season.
With his decision to join the Wolverines, Williams adds even more depth and talent to an already formidable defensive unit. Michigan fans can look forward to seeing him wreak havoc in the trenches and help anchor the defense for the 2022 season. Welcome to the Maize and Blue, Tre Williams! #GoBlue .
