Event coordinator Tim Dunaj tells us this year’s game will include underwater elements.

“The name of the game for this year is Reefscape,” Dunaj says. “There’s always been this call for do a water game. Think about the discovery, what you can do underwater and the technology that is involved to go develop, to go explore a whole universe.”

Teams must design, build, program, and compete with their robots during the four-month competition season.

“They get that information and then they take that information and begin the process of developing what their robot is going to be,” Dunaj says.

The FIRST Robotics competition provides an opportunity for students to work alongside professional engineers, technologists, and other business professionals. Teams completed robots will compete in district, state, and global competitions, which will begin this spring.

Are you ready for the excitement and innovation of the FIRST Robotics competition? This weekend, teams from around the world will come together to showcase their engineering skills, teamwork, and creativity in this thrilling competition.

The FIRST Robotics competition challenges students to design, build, and program robots to compete in a series of tasks and challenges. From navigating obstacle courses to completing complex tasks, these robots are truly a testament to the talent and ingenuity of these young engineers.

With a focus on collaboration, problem-solving, and gracious professionalism, the FIRST Robotics competition is not just a showcase of technical skills, but also a celebration of teamwork and sportsmanship.

  • “Stakes can not be higher” — The Challenge star Rachel comments on the competition among the women

“Stakes can not be higher” — The Challenge star Rachel comments on the competition among the women

The Challenge 40: Battle of the Eras will release its much-anticipated finale on Wednesday, January 1, 2025. It will document the last leg of the season, during which the eight finalists will take on a gauntlet of intense obstacles for a chance at winning the $1,000,000 cash prize and the champion’s title. Four men and four women remain, each determined to give tough competition to one another.

In an exclusive sneak peek of the finale, posted on The Challenge‘s official Instagram handle on December 28, 2024, Era I representative Rachel Robinson was shown sitting with the three other female contenders, contemplating the competition she would face during the finale. She refused to undermine anyone’s capabilities and knew each participant would give it their all to survive.

“Every woman has to wanna win the last women’s challenge day. The stakes can not be higher right now,” Rachel said in a confessional.

The previous episode of The Challenge 40: Battle of the Eras bid farewell to Cara Maria Sorbello, advancing Johnny “Bananas” Devenanzio, Derek Chavez, Jenny West, Jordan Wiseley, Kyland Young, Michele Fitzgerald, Rachel Robinson, and Tori Deal to the final stage of the competition.

“We’re all very strong women” — The Challenge‘s Rachel claims anyone could emerge victorious

Despite staying in the water for almost two and a half hours, Cara Maria failed to outlast Tori Deal in The Final Elimination, which had the competitors treading water for as long as possible. Cara Maria’s fear of marine creatures and dislike of swimming heightened, costing her a place in the finale. As a result of her elimination, Tori, Rachel, Jenny, and Michele made it through to the last stage.

The sneak peek of The Challenge 40: Battle of the Eras season finale showed the four female finalists discussing the competition they would face in their closing chapter of the series. Although they respected each other’s gameplay and strategy, they refused to let their Era down by handing the victory to someone else.

“Anyone of us could get it. Looking at everyone that is left in the game, we’re all very strong women. At this point, it’s just surviving to the final,” Rachel said.

In the meantime, Tori confessed that tensions were sky-high and would continue to snowball as they competed. Jenny added to the conversation, saying “May the best woman win.” However, in the next sentence, she jokingly mentioned that the competition would reduce if she sneaked into Tori’s room at night and broke all her fingers.

Rachel laughed at Jenny’s joke, while Tori said:

    “Not my fingers!”

Meanwhile, Jenny continued mimicking a chopping action, hoping to lighten the mood.

The Challenge 40‘s Cara Maria praised the women’s dedication and hard work

In an interview with Parade, published on December 18, 2024, Cara Maria Sorbello commented on the women’s gameplay, praising their journey and applauding them for holding their own and reaching the last leg of the competitive series.

The Challenge 40 evictee complimented Tori for respecting the game and her competitors. Cara Maria revealed that Tori never stopped training and displayed commendable growth on the show which made her a strong contender for the winner’s title.

“She told me she was training four hours a day, running on the beach, doing math problems, doing puzzles, going swimming, intensive boot camps. She wanted to win. She knew the level of women competition was going to be through the roof, and she put in the work, and it showed,” Cara Maria said.

Cara Maria was equally complimentary of Michele, praising her hard work in the game. Although Michele led with her heart, she ensured that she outperformed others and stayed in the competition.

Although Cara Maria failed to make it to the finale, she believed she fared well against some of the “best swimmers” that had ever been on The Challenge.

The Challenge 40: The Battle of the Eras will air its finale on Wednesday, January 1, 2025, at 8 pm ET only on MTV.
