Donald Trump was sworn in as the 47th president of the United States on Monday, marking only the second time in U.S. history that a president has been elected to two non-consecutive terms.
Trump’s return to the Oval Office and his comments Monday garnered incredibly strong reactions on both sides of the aisle. Some of those Americans decided to voice their opinions on the day through social media. Others left comments on news articles. And some called into C-SPAN to share their concerns.
One C-SPAN caller in particular wanted to make sure that his voice was heard on his historic day, though perhaps not about the topic that hosts were expecting.
As footage of politicians and dignitaries shuffling into the Capitol Rotunda played in the background, C-SPAN welcomed “Graham in Jersey City” on the air to share his thoughts on the day.

“Hi, I wanna wish everyone a Happy MLK Day. Hope everyone is staying warm. Bit disappointed with how the election turned out, it would have been great to see a female president inaugurated today” said the caller, who was just warming up. “While I’m disappointed in the American people and their desire to see another four years of Trump, I’m a bit more disappointed in the selection committee for not picking Alabama for the College Football Playoff finals. Instead, picking inferior teams like SMU and Indiana.
“Truly dark times in America,” he added before getting cut off by the hosts who quickly tried to get back on track.
Man, the way Graham seems to have such disdain for the College Football Playoff and the chances for Cinderella programs to succeed, you’d think he works for ESPN.
Recently, a caller on C-SPAN took the opportunity to voice their frustrations about the College Football Playoff system. The caller expressed their discontent with the current format, arguing that it is unfair and does not accurately determine the best team in college football.
The caller raised concerns about the selection process, stating that it often favors powerhouse programs and overlooks smaller, deserving schools. They also criticized the lack of transparency in the playoff committee’s decision-making, claiming that there is a lack of consistency and accountability in how teams are chosen.
Furthermore, the caller suggested that expanding the playoff to include more teams would provide a more equitable and inclusive system for determining the national champion. They emphasized the need for a more inclusive process that considers a wider range of teams and conferences.
Overall, this caller’s complaint highlights the ongoing debate and dissatisfaction with the current College Football Playoff system. As discussions about potential changes and improvements continue, it will be interesting to see how the playoff format may evolve in the future.
