Welcome to another edition of 6-Banner Sunday, a joint production between The Assembly Call and Inside the Hall, where we highlight the five most essential IU basketball stories of the past week, plus take a look at how the other IU sports programs are doing.

Indiana has not played since the last 6-Banner was published, as it is on an extended holiday break. It will take on Winthrop today in its non-conference finale.

Besides this, readers will find info about women’s basketball winning twice this week, a look at the roster, and weekly shows. We will, as usual, conclude with a look at other IU sports led by football adding several top transfers.

Banner #1 – Hoosiers to conclude non-conference play against Winthrop

The Hoosiers have not played since their narrow escape over Chattanooga a week ago Saturday. They return to action today in Bloomington at 4 pm on BTN against Winthrop in what is their non-conference finale.

IU is 9-3 overall, while the Eagles are 10-4. This will be Indiana’s final tune-up before returning to Big Ten play for good, starting with Rutgers at Assembly Hall on Thursday.

Banner #2 – Women beat Oakland in non-conference finale

While the men continue to be inconsistent, the women are vastly improving as the year progresses. Last Sunday, they had their largest margin of victory this season so far against Oakland 90-55.

It was IU’s final non-conference game of the 2024-2025 season. Shay Ciezki led three double-figure scorers with 20 points. Karoline Striplin added 16 points, while Sydney Parrish chipped in 11 points.

Banner #3 – Women dominate Wisconsin in Big Ten home opener

IU played even better in their Big Ten home opener against Wisconsin yesterday. Despite stepping up a level in competition, the Hoosiers were just as dominant against a conference foe (albeit one picked near the bottom of the league).

The final was 83-52 as starting center Lily Meister did her best Mackenzie Holmes impression leading the way with 20 points. Despite no longer having a star player, Indiana coach Teri Moren has created a rock-solid program greater than the sum of its parts.

With an elite league and a 10-3 record, the squad is in a strong position for a sixth straight NCAA tournament bid. They have their biggest challenge of the season next Saturday against top-ranked UCLA at noon on FOX.

Banner #4 – A look at IU’s roster through 12 games

With the men’s team on a bye week for the holidays, Inside the Hall looked at where IU’s roster stands through 12 games. Alex Bozich did a player-by-player breakdown of each member of this Hoosier squad.

Banner #5 – Podcast on the Brink and Back Home Network shows

Podcast on the Brink was recorded this week. It featured WDRB’s Rick Bozich discussing where IU is as a program.

The Back Home Network was on-air multiple times in the last few days. Crimson Cast, Doing The Work, Dribble Drive, and Xs and Joes were all recorded this week.

Banner #6 – Hoosier Roundup

• Football added a star quarterback and running back amongst several big transfer portal additions last week. Also, outgoing quarterback Kurtis Rourke won an award as the country’s best at his position.

• Volleyball had a former player sign a pro contract.

• Wrestling will compete at the Ken Kraft Midlands Championship this weekend.
