Skechers continues its expansion in basketball footwear, securing Los Angeles Clippers shooting guard Norman Powell as its latest signing. The 2019 NBA Champion joins an emerging roster of Skechers Basketball athletes, lacing up in the SKX NEXUS as he takes the court for the Clippers and participates in the 3-Point Contest at NBA All-Star Weekend.
“I’ve been seeing more players competing in Skechers, so I wanted to try them for myself. It was immediately clear that Skechers is a perfect fit for me,” said Norman Powell. “It starts with that famous Skechers comfort, but these sneakers look great, and I love wearing them on the court. While everything about Skechers Basketball is unexpected, they understand the grind and are relentless in their pursuit of performance excellence, so I can’t wait to take it up a notch with this brand.”
Powell, a UCLA standout and First-Team All-Pac-12 selection, was drafted in the second round of the 2015 NBA Draft, beginning his career with the Toronto Raptors, where he helped secure the franchise’s first NBA title in 2019. Following stints with the Portland Trail Blazers and now the Los Angeles Clippers, Powell has established himself as a reliable scoring option and a consistent postseason performer, having made the NBA Playoffs in nine of his ten seasons.
Skechers has crafted two PE colorways of the SKX Nexus to kick off the partnership, one in Black Lime and the other in Light Blue. Both pairs will be released to the public, minus the PE details that include nods to Norman’s personal life, like the 619 area code for San Diego and the text honoring his Uncle Raymond. The White Black Lime pair is available, and the Light Blue will drop in April.
“As a Los Angeles-based company, we saw a great opportunity in bringing Clippers athlete Norman Powell to Team Skechers,” said Michael Greenberg, president of Skechers. “Known as a standout player in the league, Norman’s incredible performance on the court this season has fans watching his every move—and we love that he’s doing it in Skechers Basketball shoes. He is a great asset to our brand and illustrates how the signature comfort and performance offered by our footwear can help players elevate their game.”
Powell joins a growing roster of Skechers Basketball athletes, including Joel Embiid, Julius Randle, Terance Mann, Jabari Walker, and Rickea Jackson. Skechers also recently signed Charlotte Hornets shooting guard Josh Green, further strengthening its presence in the NBA. With Norman Powell now in Skechers Basketball footwear, the brand continues its rapid rise in the basketball market—and all eyes will be on Powell as he competes in the 3-Point Contest at NBA All-Star Weekend.

In a surprising move, NBA star Norman Powell has signed a partnership deal with Skechers just in time for the 3-Point Contest at the NBA All-Star 2025. The Toronto Raptors shooting guard, known for his sharpshooting skills and explosive plays, will be rocking Skechers footwear as he competes against the league’s best shooters.
Powell’s decision to team up with Skechers showcases the brand’s growing presence in the world of basketball and sports performance. With their innovative technology and design, Skechers is aiming to provide Powell with the comfort and support he needs to perform at his best during the highly anticipated 3-Point Contest.
Fans can expect to see Powell sporting his new Skechers kicks as he takes on the competition and aims to showcase his shooting prowess on the big stage. Stay tuned to see if Powell’s partnership with Skechers will give him the edge he needs to come out on top in the 3-Point Contest at NBA All-Star 2025.

With a win, Lillard can become the first player since Craig Hodges (1990-92) to win the contest three times in a row. Larry Bird also captured three consecutive titles from 1986 to 1988.
Last year, Lillard racked up 26 out of a possible 40 points in the final round of the contest which also featured 2022 3-point contest winner Karl-Anthony Towns and Atlanta Hawks guard Trae Young. He drilled four buckets in a row on the second-to-last rack of balls and jogged to the final rack needing only one more basket for the victory. He missed his next four shots from the corner, before splashing the game winner on his final attempt.
Lillard’s second straight title made him the first back-to-back champion since Jason Kapono (2007, 2008), a feat also accomplished by Bird, Hodges, Mark Price and Peja Stojakovic.
With the NBA All-Star weekend quickly approaching, all eyes are on Portland Trail Blazers star Damian Lillard as he sets his sights on a third consecutive victory in the 3-point contest. Lillard, known for his deadly accuracy from beyond the arc, will face stiff competition from a talented field of shooters including Steph Curry, Devin Booker, and Joe Harris.
The 3-point contest has long been a fan favorite event during All-Star weekend, showcasing the best shooters in the league as they go head-to-head in a thrilling display of long-range marksmanship. Lillard’s back-to-back wins in 2020 and 2021 have solidified his status as one of the top shooters in the league, but he will need to bring his A-game to fend off challengers hungry for the title.
As the anticipation builds for the 3-point contest, fans can expect a high-energy competition filled with jaw-dropping shots and intense rivalries. Will Lillard make history with a three-peat, or will a new champion emerge to steal the spotlight? Tune in to find out as the NBA’s best shooters battle it out for 3-point supremacy.
This year’s event will feature Orlando Magic G Leaguer Mac McClung, San Antonio Spurs guard Stephon Castle, Chicago Bulls forward Matas Buzelis and Milwaukee Bucks guard Andre Jackson Jr.
The Dunk Contest will take place on Feb. 15 at 8 p.m. ET in San Francisco.

McClung might not be a familiar name to many NBA fans as he’s played just five NBA games since 2021 and has appeared in just one game this season. But those who tuned into the last two dunk contests are well aware of who McClung is.
McClung, who first gained recognition for his ridiculous dunks in high school, has won the last two dunk contests.

McClung is the veteran in this year’s dunk contest, as the other three players will be participating for the first time.
Castle, the No. 4 pick in the 2024 draft out of UConn, is putting together a phenomenal rookie year, averaging 12.2 points per game and making a strong case for Rookie of the Year. His first year in the league has, of course, included a handful of big dunks.

Buzelis was the No. 11 pick in the 2024 draft after cutting his teeth with G League Ignite rather than the traditional college route. His rookie year hasn’t been very notable thus far as he’s putting up just 5.4 points per game, but he’s looking to turn heads in the Dunk Contest.

Jackson, a second-round pick in the 2023 draft, is averaging 4 points and 3.3 boards per game this season, playing 17.5 minutes per contest. He should bring some exciting dunks to this year’s event as he clearly doesn’t lack any bounce.

Castle, a rising star in the NBA known for his acrobatic dunks and impressive hang time, will also be a strong contender in the competition. Fans can expect to see some gravity-defying slams and innovative moves from this young phenom.
The rest of the participants have yet to be announced, but with the likes of McClung and Castle already confirmed, this year’s Slam Dunk Contest is shaping up to be one for the ages. Well, Angel Reese, after the WNBA star and four others players choose to decline Unrivaled’s upcoming tournament.
2
Angel Reese is playing for Rose Basketball in Unrivaled
Details for the 1-on-1 contest have been officially revealed by the league and it will begin on February 10 and feature 30 WNBA players.
Unrivaled is the breakaway off-season women’s basketball league featuring 36 WNBA stars in a nine-week long event.
The league attracted players due its competitive compensation, which includes an average salary of $222,000, and the fact it is played in the US, meaning players do not have to travel overseas in their off-season, which used to be the norm.
In an attempt to popularize the league even further and attract more viewers, Unrivaled organizers announced a 1-on-1 competition that will be nationally televised.
However, that list of players excludes five current Unrivaled stars: Brittney Griner, Sabrina Ionescu, Reese, Stefanie Dolson, and Courtney Vandersloot.
The single elimination contest sees a stunning prize pool of $350,000, with co-founders Breanna Stewart and Napheesa Collier participating and stars like Alyssa Thomas also involved.
The format sees the 30 players put into four groups of eight, with two byes in two groups. Players will be drawn against each other in a single elimination until there is one woman left.
$200k will be handed to the winner of the challenge, $50,000 will be handed to the runner-up and $25,000 will be given to the semi-finalists.
Alex Bazzell, the president of Unrivaled, was excited about the upcoming challenge, but made sure he got approval from co-founder Stewart first, who jumped at the idea.
“Listen, you talk about brand risk… I’m like, ‘Well, let me just go straight to Stewie and see what she thinks,’” Bazzell told SB.

Angel Reese is one of Unrivaled’s stars but won’t be playing in the 1-on-1 contest
How Unrivaled’s 1-on-1 touranment will work
On Feb. 10, a single-elimination first round will begin that is made up of 14 1-on-1 games.
The following day, Feb. 11, will feature 12 single-elimination games — all of Monday’s winners.
Then, on Feb. 14, the four remaining players will compete in the semi-finals (also following a single-elimination format) as well as a best-of-three Finals.
Games will be played to 11 points, or 10 minutes — whichever occurs first.
There will be an 11-second shot clock, and games will follow traditional scoring rules, with a two-point shot counting as two points, and a three-point shot counting as three points.
“She’s like, ‘No, I want to play. I’m tired of people debating like I’m not the best player.’”
Such an exciting challenge begs the question why stars like Reese are not playing, but Bazell clarified that there is a clause in their contracts that lets them opt out from the contest.
Something that has disappointed fans on social media.
“So no BG, Sloot, Sab, Angel…Why?” one fan posted in reply to the announcement.
“No point without Reese,” another fan said not hiding their disappointment.
Some fans suggested she does not want to participate in case she loses early and gets criticised, saying on x: “Is she scared of getting dumped out in round one?”
Angel Reese gets emotional as she reflects on Coach T-Spoon and claims she was the only person who ‘understood her’
Nevertheless the contest will go on and the groups of players have already been chosen, interestingly fans will decide the players’ seedings in order to form the first-round match-ups.
For players eliminated and not playing, there is also an incentive to want your teammate to do well, as the tournament winner will see their teammates awarded $10,000.
This was done on purpose Bazell says, “To keep team camaraderie.”
“Inevitably you want to root them on — not just for personal reasons, but also there’s an incentive for you if your teammate wins the ultimate cash prize.”
Katie Lou Samuelson, who plays for the Indiana Fever and Phantom, says the prize money is the biggest motivator for players.
“We’re all competitive. It’s a great opportunity,” Samuelson said. “There’s a great prize fund at the end of it. Everyone’s gonna play as hard as they can.”
Fans will be waiting to see the results of this ground breaking 1-on-1 tournament when it begins on February 10.
Angel Reese, the rising star in the world of competitive contests, has recently declined a $200,000 offer to participate in an upcoming competition. Fans and spectators alike have been left wondering: is she scared?
Some have speculated that Reese may be afraid of embarrassment or failure in the high-stakes contest. After all, the pressure to perform at such a level can be intense, and the fear of falling short of expectations is a common concern for many athletes and competitors.
However, others have pointed out that Reese may simply have her sights set on a bigger prize. While turning down $200,000 may seem like a risky move, the potential for a larger payout as the winner of the contest could be a major motivating factor for Reese.
Ultimately, only time will tell whether Reese’s decision will pay off. But one thing is for sure: this talented competitor is not one to back down from a challenge. Stay tuned to see if Reese’s gamble will pay off in the end.
Earlier this month, the Detroit Pistons hinted at the possibility of having a representative in the 2025 NBA 3-Point Competition.
Before a matchup on the road against the New York Knicks, Beasley sported a custom hoodie suggesting he would be a participant once again.
The team’s social media account noted that Beasley was “three-point contest ready.”
While it seemed the Pistons were officially announcing Beasley would be a part of the sharpshooting action, the veteran guard couldn’t say for sure if he was officially a part of the contest or not.
“I said yes, but we’re just waiting to see. All the All-Stars have to pick. They get the first dibs. Once the All-Stars decide, they’ll let me know if I get in.”
In 46 games with the Pistons this season, Beasley has once again established himself as one of the NBA’s top shooters from beyond the arc.
Seeing the court for an average of 28 minutes, Beasley has knocked down 40 percent of his threes on nine attempts per game. He’s been one of the Pistons’ top scorers, averaging 16 points per game.
Throughout his career, which started in 2016 with the Denver Nuggets, Beasley has grown into being one of the most efficient three-point scorers.
His success from beyond the arc didn’t come right away. Throughout his first two seasons, Beasley averaged just 34 percent from deep in 84 games with the Nuggets.
During his third NBA season, Beasley averaged 40 percent from deep in 81 games of action. Since then, Beasley has been a 39 percent shooter from three.
Last year, Beasley came up short in the competition against his Milwaukee Bucks teammate, Damian Lillard. He hopes to get a shot at redemption this year, as earning a trip to the competition is one of his biggest goals for the 2024-2025 NBA season.
Malik Beasley, shooting guard for the Detroit Pistons, recently spoke out about his chances in the upcoming NBA All-Star Weekend 3-Point Contest. Beasley, known for his sharpshooting abilities, expressed his excitement and confidence heading into the competition.
“I’m really looking forward to showcasing my skills in the 3-Point Contest,” Beasley said. “I’ve been putting in a lot of work in practice and I feel confident in my ability to compete against some of the best shooters in the league.”
Beasley, who is currently shooting 38% from beyond the arc this season, is considered a strong contender for the contest. His quick release and consistent shooting stroke have made him a threat from long range, and he is eager to prove himself on the national stage.
“I know there are a lot of great shooters out there, but I believe in my ability to come out on top,” Beasley added. “I’m going to bring my A-game and give it my all to represent the Pistons and show what I can do.”
Fans of the Detroit Pistons are eagerly anticipating Beasley’s performance in the 3-Point Contest and are hopeful that he can bring home the victory. Be sure to tune in to the NBA All-Star Weekend to see if Malik Beasley can rise to the occasion and come out on top in the highly-anticipated competition.
If you were thinking Caitlin Clark would be part of the NBA All-Star 3-point contest, don’t get your hopes up.
The WNBA star will not be participating in any of the NBA’s All-Star Weekend festivities next month, her representatives at Excel Sports told ESPN on Wednesday. Instead, Clark wants to do her first 3-point contest when the WNBA All-Star Game is held in Indianapolis in July.
After finishing up her rookie season in the WNBA last year, there was speculation Clark would participate in some event at the 2025 NBA All-Star Weekend in San Francisco. Ideas included her taking part in the 3-point contest, or having a showdown with an NBA star, similar to when Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry faced New York Liberty guard Sabrina Ionescu in an NBA vs. WNBA 3-point challenge during the 2024 NBA All-Star Weekend. Curry won the matchup.
Clark, who won WNBA Rookie of the Year in 2024 after she was drafted first overall by the Indiana Fever, did not participate in the last year’s WNBA 3-point challenge. She did play in the All-Star Game, which was Team WNBA vs. Team USA ahead of the 2024 Paris Olympics. The 2025 WNBA All-Star Weekend will be at Clark’s home arena in Indianapolis.
NBA All-Star weekend be Feb. 14-16 at the Chase Center, home of the Warriors. WNBA All-Star Weekend will be July 18-19 at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis.
Clark will have her jersey retired in Iowa on Sunday, when the Hawkeyes host Southern California.
Although Caitlin Clark has been lighting up the college basketball scene with her impressive shooting skills, she will not be participating in the NBA All-Star Weekend 3-point contest. Despite her talent and potential, the event is reserved for NBA players only. However, fans of Clark can still enjoy watching her dominate on the court in college basketball games. Let’s continue to support and cheer on this rising star as she continues to make a name for herself in the sport. #CaitlinClark #CollegeBasketball #NBAAllStarWeekend

One “Jeopardy!” contestant had a bit of a blunder when it came to a Céline Dion hit.
Drew Goins, a Hawaii-based journalist who was competing in the “Jeopardy!” 2025 Champions Wildcard tournament, missed a question about the “My Heart Will Go On” singer — after giving a special shoutout to Dion earlier in the episode.
During the Jan. 24 episode, Goins listed several people he wanted to thank, including one celebrity.
“John the producer suggested, long story, that I thank Céline Dion. So, thank you, Céline Dion,” he said, while bowing and looking into the camera.
“Does she know what she did?” host Ken Jennings asked.
“Oh, she does,” Goins responded. “Deep down.”
Later in the episode, Goins was given the opportunity to flex his knowledge of the singer when presented with a $2000 question from the category “’90s No. 1 Hits.”
“Sharing its title with an earlier, more upbeat Huey Lewis hit, it was No. 1 for Celine Dion in 1994,” Jennings read.
But instead of buzzing in, Goins appeared stressed out and panicked about the question. He, along with the rest of the contestants, were unable to answer, and the buzzer signaled that time ran out.
“Oh, she’s going to be mad, Drew,” Jennings joked before the contestant left the podium and pretended to walk off the set.
Jennings eventually revealed the answer to the question, sharing, “Like Huey Lewis, Céline Dion sang a song called ‘The Power of Love.’”
Returning to the podium, Goins excused the blunder, saying, “I was born in 1994!”
The journalist ultimately came in second place in the final of the Champions Wildcard tournament, taking home a prize of $40,000. As the runner-up, Goins still sneaked into the upcoming Tournament of Champions, and he is scheduled to play in the quarterfinals on Feb. 3.
While Goins was let down by a question about Dion, he had a memorable moment of redemption during the Second Chance tournament with another pop superstar — Taylor Swift.
During a September 2024 episode of “Jeopardy!” Goins failed to answer the $800 question, “The first of Taylor Swift’s record 4 AOTY Grammys was for this album in 2010.”
None of the contestants buzzed in with the answer, which was “Fearless.”
Then, on the Jan. 6 “Jeopardy” episode, he was met with the $200 question, “In 2014 Taylor Swift gave us this album named for a different year.”
This time, the question was not met with silence, with Goins buzzing in to respond, “What is ‘1989’?”
“Redemption for Drew!” Jennings said as the audience began cheering. “And the crowd goes wild.”
In a recent episode of Jeopardy, contestant and self-proclaimed Céline Dion superfan Drew Goins missed a question about the iconic singer. The question, which asked for the title of Céline Dion’s Grammy-winning hit song from the Titanic soundtrack, left Goins stumped.
Despite his love for Céline Dion and her music, Goins couldn’t come up with the correct answer, “My Heart Will Go On.” The moment left viewers surprised and amused, as Goins had been confidently answering other questions about the singer throughout the episode.
While Goins may have missed this particular question, his passion for Céline Dion remains unwavering. And who knows, maybe he’ll have a chance to redeem himself in a future episode of Jeopardy. Until then, fans can continue to enjoy his enthusiasm and knowledge of all things Céline Dion.

The four-man field for the 2025 Slam Dunk Contest is set.
According to ESPN’s Shams Charania, the Orlando Magic’s Mac McClung—the two-time defending Slam Dunk Contest champion—will be joined by San Antonio Spurs rookie Stephon Castle, Chicago Bulls rookie Matas Buzelis and Milwaukee Bucks guard Andre Jackson Jr. in this year’s event.
McClung is obviously the main attraction.
He became not only the first G League player to ever appear in the Dunk Contest back in 2023, but also the first one to ever win it, dazzling fans with a series of memorable moves.
And he defended his title last year, clinching the win by dunking over NBA legend Shaquille O’Neal.
McClung will be looking to become the first man to ever win three Dunk Contest titles in a row. He would also tie Nate Robinson for the most Dunk Contest championships (three) with a victory.
It was unclear if he would pursue the three-peat after his comments following last year’s events.
“I don’t know. We’ll think about it,” he told reporters after his 2024 win when questioned about going for a third straight title. “I’m not sure yet.”
He’ll have some top competition this time around, however. Castle has shown off some serious hops in his rookie season.
So has Buzelis. Both Castle and Buzelis have Slam Dunk Contest experience, albeit not at the NBA level, competing at the 2023 McDonald’s High School Dunk Contest.
Nick DePaula @NickDePaula
Heading into tonight’s McDonald’s All American Game, Matas Buzelis is already receiving strong interest from several brands on a potential shoe deal.

The @DraftExpress projected #1 pick of the 2024 NBA Draft will sign with the G-League Ignite, and can sign a full shoe deal now. pic.twitter.com/Izveqn7D1Q
And Jackson’s dunking prowess dates back to his high school years.
So this should be a fun event. But until someone proves they can unseat McClung, he’ll remain the prohibitive favorite.
The much-anticipated 2025 NBA Slam Dunk Contest is about to get even more exciting with the recent announcement of the participants. According to a report, rising stars Mac McClung and Stephon Castle have officially been added to the lineup, promising an electrifying display of athleticism and creativity on the court.
McClung, known for his high-flying dunks and explosive plays, has been making waves in the basketball world with his jaw-dropping performances. The young guard has quickly become a fan favorite and is sure to bring his signature style to the contest.
On the other hand, Castle, a dynamic guard with incredible leaping ability, is expected to give McClung a run for his money with his own impressive dunking skills. With both players known for their highlight-reel plays, fans can expect a thrilling showdown between these two rising stars.
As the anticipation builds for the 2025 NBA Slam Dunk Contest, basketball enthusiasts are eagerly awaiting the chance to see McClung and Castle go head-to-head in what promises to be a memorable competition. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting event and be sure to catch all the action live.
