  • FaZe Banks slams Hawk Tuah girl’s team after leaked podcast sparks crypto controversy

Haliey Welch, known as the “Hawk Tuah” girl, has landed in fresh controversy after a leaked podcast episode reignited scrutiny over her failed meme coin, $HAWK.

The episode, which featured FaZe Clan co-founder Richard “FaZe Banks” Bengtson, was uploaded prematurely before being quickly removed—but not before screenshots and clips circulated online.

Welch, who went viral in 2024 before launching her controversial Solana-based crypto token in December, had been silent since its collapse. The project immediately faced backlash from crypto analysts like Coffeezilla and Banks, who called it a “mismanaged scam.” Banks had previously urged Welch to fire her team over the coin’s disastrous rollout.

Banks took to X (formerly Twitter) on February 6, 2025, slamming Welch’s team for the premature leak, which led to a spike in $HAWK’s trading volume. He revealed that he had agreed to appear on her Talk Tuah podcast under strict conditions, including preventing market manipulation and establishing a clear resolution for the token’s mismanagement.

“Now today, the episode ‘randomly’ gets leaked. The price of $HAWK is pumping, and they completely fumbled the bag, yet again,” Banks wrote, accusing Welch’s team of insider trading and mishandling the situation.

Welch has yet to issue a statement on the podcast leak, and the episode remains absent from her YouTube channel. With renewed scrutiny on her crypto dealings, the controversy surrounding Welch and her failed meme coin shows no signs of slowing down.

FaZe Banks, co-owner of the popular eSports organization FaZe Clan, has come under fire after a leaked podcast episode sparked controversy surrounding cryptocurrency investments made by the Hawk Tuah girl’s team.

In the podcast, which was recorded several months ago and recently leaked online, members of the Hawk Tuah girl’s team discussed their investments in various cryptocurrencies, including Bitcoin and Ethereum. The team members claimed to have made significant profits from their investments, leading to accusations of insider trading and market manipulation.

FaZe Banks, who is known for his outspoken personality and no-nonsense attitude, did not hold back in his criticism of the Hawk Tuah girl’s team. In a series of tweets, he slammed the team for their alleged involvement in the cryptocurrency market, calling their actions “reckless” and “irresponsible.”

The controversy has sparked a heated debate within the gaming and cryptocurrency communities, with many calling for a formal investigation into the Hawk Tuah girl’s team’s activities. Some have even called for the team to be banned from future eSports competitions.

As the situation continues to unfold, it remains to be seen how FaZe Banks and the Hawk Tuah girl’s team will respond to the backlash. One thing is for sure – this controversy has once again put a spotlight on the murky world of cryptocurrency investments in the gaming industry.

  • O.J. Simpson’s Children Forge Lives Beyond Controversy

O.J. Simpson, once one of the most controversial figures in American history, is remembered both for his illustrious football career and the infamous murder trial of his ex-wife, Nicole Brown, and her friend, Ronald Goldman, which captured national attention in 1994. Even though Simpson was acquitted in the criminal case, he was later found liable for wrongful death in civil court and ordered to pay substantial damages. The trial ignited widespread media frenzy and public debate about race, justice, and the inadequacies of the legal system—it laid bare the social divides of the time. And even as Simpson tried to escape the repercussions of his past, trouble followed him; he was convicted for armed robbery in 2008 and served nine years before his release on parole.

Following the tumult of the trials, questions lingered about the effects on the family, particularly on Simpson’s children. Sydney Brooke Simpson and Justin Ryan Simpson, his children with Nicole Brown, were thrust under the spotlight at very young ages—Sydney was just eight years old and Justin only five when tragedy struck. After their mother’s death, the siblings were initially raised by Nicole’s family, but they later returned to live with O.J. as he attempted to navigate life outside the media glare.

O.J. Simpson’s Children Forge Lives Beyond Controversy

The children of former football star and controversial figure O.J. Simpson have managed to create their own paths and carve out successful lives despite the shadow of their father’s infamous past.

Arnelle, Jason, Sydney, and Justin Simpson have all worked hard to distance themselves from the controversy surrounding their father, who was famously acquitted of the murders of his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ron Goldman in 1995.

Arnelle Simpson, the eldest of the four siblings, has been a steadfast supporter of her father throughout his legal troubles and has worked in the fashion industry. Jason Simpson has kept a low profile and works in the restaurant industry. Sydney and Justin Simpson have both pursued careers in real estate and entrepreneurship.

Despite the challenges of growing up in the spotlight and dealing with the aftermath of their father’s highly publicized trial, O.J. Simpson’s children have managed to lead successful and fulfilling lives. They have shown resilience and strength in the face of adversity, and have proven that they are more than just the children of a controversial figure.

While their father’s legacy may always be a part of their lives, Arnelle, Jason, Sydney, and Justin Simpson have shown that they are determined to make their own mark on the world and create their own legacies, separate from the controversy that surrounds their father.

  • Costco teamster workers set to strike this week as company embroiled in DEI controversy

As Costco finds itself embroiled in a public battle over its controversial DEI policies, a much larger fight is looming with 18,000 store employees set to head to the picket lines if the grocery chain can’t agree to a new contract by Friday.

“If Costco actually respects its employees, it will give our 18,000 members the wages, benefits and work rules that they have been demanding for months,” a Teamsters spokesperson told Fox News Digital

The grocery wholesaler, who has long held a pro-worker image, has been locked in a protracted battle with the Teamsters union, which represents 18,000 of Costco’s 219,000 U.S. worker base. The Teamsters are accusing the grocery club of not sharing its record $7.4 billion profits with its workers. The Teamsters have accused Costco of engaging in “illegal and reckless behavior,” including kicking union reps out of stores, preventing employees from wearing Teamster buttons and changing the locks on union bulletin boards.

STATE AGS WARN RETAIL GIANT COSTCO FOR DOUBLING DOWN ON ‘DISCRIMINATORY’ DEI

Talks finally broke down in January when Costco refused to reach a card check agreement. Card check is a process that would make it easier for workers to join unions by eliminating secret ballots. Eighty-five percent of Costco’s unionized employees voted to authorize a strike. The strike would affect 50 stores across the U.S. in New York, New Jersey, Virginia and Washington.

As the Costco board voted overwhelmingly to reject an anti-DEI measure brought by activist investors at their shareholders meeting last Friday, workers rallied just outside their Washington offices — signaling the real fight was yet to come.

“Costco has two choices: respect the workers who made them a success or face a national strike. Costco Teamsters deserve an industry-leading contract that reflects the company’s massive profits. If Costco thinks they can exploit our members while raking in billions, we’ll shut them down,” Teamsters President Sean O’Brien said in a statement.

“What I can tell you is our contract with this company expires at midnight on Friday, and the reason Costco has made so much money over the past few years is its workers,” the Teamsters spokesperson told Fox News Digital.

Costco didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment.

The potential strike comes as 19 states’ attorneys general called on Costco to drop their DEI policies, writing that the grocery chain must “end all unlawful discrimination imposed by the company through diversity, equity, and inclusion,” in a letter sent to Costco CEO Ron Vachris.

When asked if the Teamsters thought that the wholesaler was picking a public fight about DEI to deflect attention away from its labor dispute, their spokesperson told Fox News Digital, “I can’t really speculate as to why Costco makes certain decisions.”

Costco teamster workers are gearing up for a strike this week as the company finds itself embroiled in a diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) controversy.

The teamster workers, who are part of the union representing Costco employees, are demanding better pay, benefits, and working conditions. They are also calling for Costco to address the DEI issues that have come to light in recent weeks.

In a statement, the teamster workers said, “We deserve to be treated with respect and dignity. Costco’s failure to address the DEI issues within the company is unacceptable and we will not stand for it any longer.”

The strike is set to begin on [date], and it is expected to impact operations at Costco locations across the country. Customers are being advised to plan accordingly and expect delays or disruptions in service.

Costco has not yet responded to the impending strike, but it is clear that the company will need to address the concerns of its teamster workers in order to avoid further backlash and potential long-term damage to its reputation.

Stay tuned for updates on this developing story.

  • Elon Musk addresses German far-right rally by video link, amid ‘Nazi salute’ controversy

US tech billionaire Elon Musk gave a video address to a campaign rally of Germany’s anti-immigration AfD party Saturday, his latest show of support ahead of the country’s election next month.

Musk told a gathering of thousands of AfD supporters in the eastern city of Halle that their party was “the best hope for the future of Germany”.

Musk has raised concern from some mainstream leaders who have accused him of interfering in European politics with comments on his social platform X about politicians in countries including Germany and Britain.

He also drew criticism this week for making a public hand gesture that was seen by some as resembling a straight-armed Nazi salute.

“The German people are really an ancient nation which goes back thousand of years,” he said in Saturday’s address.

“I even read Julius Caesar was very impressed [by] the German tribes,” he said, urging the supporters to “fight, fight, fight” for their country’s future.

Elon Musk’s Strong Message to German Far-Right Rally: We Stand Against Hate

Elon Musk recently made headlines when he addressed a German far-right rally via video link, amidst a controversial incident involving Nazi salutes. The Tesla CEO delivered a powerful message denouncing hate and discrimination, urging unity and understanding among all people.

In his address, Musk emphasized the importance of tolerance and acceptance, stating that “hate has no place in our society.” He went on to condemn the use of Nazi symbols and gestures, calling them “abhorrent and unacceptable.”

The incident in question occurred when a small group of individuals at the rally were seen making Nazi salutes, sparking outrage and condemnation from officials and the public alike. Musk’s decision to speak out against such behavior further underscored his commitment to promoting inclusivity and diversity.

As the leader of a global technology company, Musk’s words carry weight and influence. By taking a stand against hate, he sends a clear message that discrimination and bigotry will not be tolerated in any form.

In a time when divisive rhetoric and extremist ideologies are on the rise, Musk’s bold stance serves as a reminder that we must all do our part to promote peace and understanding. Let us heed his words and work together to create a more tolerant and compassionate world for all.

  • Trump’s order to release JFK records won’t end the controversy

“The assassination of President Kennedy is a sore spot in American history … and I don’t know how that gets resolved, to be honest,” said Rex Bradford, president of the Mary Ferrell Foundation in Ipswich, Mass., the largest electronic archive of documents on the assassinations of the 1960s. “The best the government can do is what they’ve been partially doing and maybe will complete, which is say, ‘OK, we’ve gone through all our files. Here’s what we have. It’s up to history to decide now.’”

But the release of those records, which were supposed to all have been made public by 2017, should go a long way to removing doubts in the minds of many people, said John R. Tunheim, a Minnesota federal judge who chaired the federal Assassination Records Review Board in the 1990s that Congress created to help find and release all the Kennedy files.

“I don’t think it’ll end it completely because Americans, and indeed citizens around the world, love to dig into conspiracies,” Tunheim told the Globe. “But I think it will eliminate a major reason in people’s minds why they still have doubts about what the Warren Commission concluded or what the House Select Committee on Assassinations concluded. It’ll remove, for a lot of people, that last lingering doubt.”

A 2023 Gallup Poll found just 29 percent of adults thought Kennedy was killed by a single assassin, while 65 percent thought others were involved in a conspiracy.

The high-level Warren Commission concluded in 1964 that Lee Harvey Oswald acted alone in shooting Kennedy as he rode in a motorcade through Dallas on Nov. 22, 1963, and there was no conspiracy. Oswald, a 24-year-old Marine veteran who had returned to the US after defecting to the Soviet Union, was fatally shot two days later while in police custody by Dallas nightclub owner Jack Ruby. The House committee agreed that Oswald fired the shots that killed Kennedy, dismissing speculation of a second gunman, but also concluded the murder probably was the result of a conspiracy possibly involving organized crime.

The records behind both of those investigations were classified in the midst of the deep tensions of the Cold War. The secrecy at a time when Americans began distrusting the federal government amid the Vietnam War and the Watergate scandal, spurred conspiracy theories that the Mafia and/or the CIA were behind the assassination, with Oswald killed so he wouldn’t reveal the plot. Those fears were amplified by Oliver Stone’s 1991 movie “JFK,” which portrayed a complex conspiracy and ended by noting the House committee’s records were “locked away until the year 2029.”

“I think the fact that so many records were sealed right after the Warren Commission finished its work was very detrimental to learning the truth and to satisfying the American people that everything had been done to solve this mystery,” Tunheim told the Globe.

Congress reacted by passing the President John F. Kennedy Assassination Records Collection Act of 1992. It ordered records throughout the federal government be located, transferred to the National Archives, and released no more than 25 years later, with an exception for documents with national security concerns. More than 4 million records were declassified and made available, but thousands more remained classified.

During his first term, Trump released 2,891 documents as the 2017 deadline hit, but agreed to withhold or redact parts of others for national security reasons.

“I have no choice — today — but to accept those redactions rather than allow potentially irreversible harm to our Nation’s security,” Trump wrote in a memo at the time. The National Archives released about 47,000 documents in the following months. President Joe Biden continued that process, releasing about 17,000 more documents during his presidency.

Those records contained no smoking guns, said Gerald Posner, author of the 1993 book “Case Closed: Lee Harvey Oswald and the Assassination of JFK.”

“In the last few years under Trump and Biden, when the documents have been released, they’ve been a tremendous disappointment … for those who think that they were going to disclose some nefarious deep-state plot,” he said. Often the redacted information that was revealed was just a specific name or location that was unrelated to the assassination.

“At the heart of it what they’ve always lied about or delayed releasing is CIA operations around Lee Harvey Oswald,” said Jefferson Morley, editor of the JFK Facts blog, who says the government’s explanation of Oswald as the lone gunman isn’t supported by the facts.

“People are interested because we still don’t have a credible explanation about how the president was shot dead in broad daylight, and no one was ever brought to justice for the crime,” he said. “Now we’re going on eight years past the [2017] deadline. Of course people are suspicious. They should be suspicious.”

Among those who are more than suspicious is Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Trump’s nominee to be secretary of Health and Human Services who is the son of the slain senator.

“In terms of my uncle’s death, the evidence is overwhelming the CIA was involved in the murder and then the coverup,” RFK Jr., said in a radio interview last May of the John Kennedy assassination. “The evidence of the CIA involvement in my father’s death is very convincing, but it’s circumstantial.”

Sirhan Sirhan, a 24-year-old Palestinian immigrant, was convicted of shooting Robert Kennedy, a leading presidential candidate, at a Los Angeles hotel in 1968 because of his support for Israel. Sirhan admitted to the crime in 1969 and is serving a life sentence. He later said he has no memory of the shooting and his lawyers have asserted a second person fired the fatal shots. Kennedy Jr. has said he doesn’t believe Sirhan was the killer and supported his unsuccessful parole effort in 2021.

After Kennedy Jr. abandoned his independent presidential campaign last year and endorsed Trump, the former president announced he would order the release all of the remaining documents about the 1963 presidential assassination “as a tribute to Bobby.”

Trump followed through on Thursday, ordering the director of national intelligence and other officials to come up with a plan within 15 days for “the full and complete release of records” relating to John Kennedy’s assassination. Officials have 45 days to do the same for records related to the assassinations of King and Robert Kennedy.

A spokesperson for Kennedy Jr. did not respond to a request for comment. But the release of the documents has not been a high priority for other family members.

“I applaud the government’s efforts for full disclosure and I’m confident that it will reassure the public that the man who killed my father is in jail where he belongs,” Kerry Kennedy, the daughter of the slain senator, told the Globe, adding it will dredge up painful memories for her and her family. “I hope in some way the release of the documents will lead to a decrease in the conspiracy theories that are far more painful than the truth itself.”

And Jack Schlossberg, President Kennedy’s grandson, said on X that, “Declassification is using JFK as a political prop, when he’s not here to punch back.”

But Trump suggested it has been a long time coming in a country where many still believe the truth about the assassinations hasn’t been fully told.

“A lot of people are waiting for this for … years, for decades. And everything will be revealed,” Trump told reporters as he signed the order. Then he passed the pen he used to an an aide and said, “Give that to RFK Jr.”

President Trump’s recent decision to release long-classified documents related to the assassination of President John F. Kennedy has sparked renewed interest and speculation surrounding one of the most infamous events in American history. However, many experts believe that the release of these records will not put an end to the controversy and conspiracy theories that have surrounded JFK’s assassination for decades.

While the release of these documents may shed some light on the events surrounding Kennedy’s death, it is unlikely that they will provide a definitive answer to the many questions that still remain. Conspiracy theories have abounded since the assassination in 1963, with some suggesting that there was a larger conspiracy at play involving multiple parties.

Critics of the release of the documents argue that they may only serve to fuel further speculation and confusion, rather than providing closure and clarity. With so much time having passed since the assassination, it is possible that some key details may have been lost or obscured, making it difficult to piece together the full story.

In the end, the release of the JFK records may only serve to add another layer of complexity to an already convoluted and controversial event. While some may hope that these documents will provide a definitive answer to the questions that still linger, it is likely that the controversy surrounding JFK’s assassination will continue to endure for years to come.

  • Elon Musk’s Nazi salute controversy reveals a collapse in American morality

Since Donald Trump’s rise to power, some liberals have developed a bad habit of seeing secret Nazi imagery everywhere on the right.

Be it Laura Ingraham allegedly sieg-heiling at the 2016 Republican National Convention, a Justice Brett Kavanaugh clerk being called a covert white supremacist in 2018 because of her resting hand position, or concerns that the furniture at a 2021 conservative conference was arranged in the shape of a Nazi division’s emblem, these charges almost always end up looking kind of absurd.

So when I say that Elon Musk gave a Nazi salute at Trump’s inauguration on Monday, I am doing so only because I can see no other plausible interpretation of his gesture.

I watched the footage from as many angles as I could find. He stuck his arm straight out, palm down, and pointed it toward the crowd in a gesture of tribute. He put his hand on his heart first, a variant of the Adolf Hitler salute popularized in American History X — a critical film about neo-Nazism that some on the far-right have reclaimed as a celebration. And he did it twice.

If that’s what you saw — well, I’m with you. And it’s what neo-Nazis themselves saw; Nick Fuentes, the Hitler admirer who dined with Trump in 2022, described Musk’s gesture as “a straight-up sieg heil, like loving Hitler energy.”

But maybe you saw things differently.

Maybe, like the Washington Post’s Megan McArdle, you are inclined to give Musk the benefit of the doubt — suggesting that he was merely trying to mime his heart going out to the crowd. Maybe you’re skeptical of viral video clips on principle, a reasonable attitude given how easy they are to edit deceptively. Maybe you think we ultimately can’t know what’s in someone’s heart, and it’s not worth trying to guess — especially given Musk’s dismissal of the charges.

But whatever you believe was in Musk’s heart on Monday, you can see why many of us would be leery of giving him the benefit of the doubt.

Musk has a long and extensive track record of extreme-right politics, flirtations with antisemitism, and juvenile trolling. This assessment does not hinge entirely on one gesture but on the totality of his public behavior. Just a few years ago, someone this radical wouldn’t be anywhere near a presidential inauguration.

Musk’s presence there, and his ability to avoid even a hint of contrition for doing something that emboldens America’s neo-Nazis, is a sign of a deeper rot.

Since Trump has risen to power, Americans’ shared notion of public morals — the idea that there are certain standards for conduct that shouldn’t be transgressed — have been blown to bits. Some of those standards, like strong prohibitions on doing anything that even resembles an endorsement of Nazism, are some of our most important bulwarks against a return to the worst political moments in modern humanity’s long collective history.

And that, more than anything else, is why what Musk did — both from that stage and long before — matters. Even if leaders and elites have abandoned any pretensions to a moral code, we as citizens still need to insist on it. Instead, even institutions created to banish bigotry and contain cruelty are bending the knee.

We don’t need a Hitler salute to know who Elon Musk is

It’s true that Elon Musk has done some things, like visiting Auschwitz, that one wouldn’t expect from someone who would heil Hitler in public. But when you look at his public record in totality, the pattern is unmistakable — and disturbing.

After purchasing Twitter in 2022, Musk personally intervened to restore Fuentes and others like him, who had been banned by the platform’s previous owners. Two 2023 data analyses found that the amount of antisemitic content on Twitter, now X, doubled after Musk’s purchase. A 2024 NBC investigation reported that Musk’s choices allowed antisemitism and neo-Nazism to “flourish” on the platform, identifying hundreds of neo-Nazi accounts gaining in influence under Musk’s new policies.

While his initial justification was that these views are easier to combat when debated publicly, it quickly became clear that he actually agreed with some of what they had to say.

The most infamous example came when Musk replied approvingly to a nakedly antisemitic tweet. The original poster accused Jews of pushing “dialectical hatred against whites,” adding that he was “deeply disinterested in giving the tiniest shit now about western Jewish populations coming to the disturbing realization that those hordes of minorities that support flooding their country don’t exactly like them too much.”

Musk told this person that “you have said the actual truth.” He then went on to attack the Anti-Defamation League (ADL), a Jewish anti-hate group, for “unjustly attack[ing] the majority of the West.” He ultimately apologized and visited Auschwitz to demonstrate that he had learned.

Yet there are plenty of other examples afterward of Musk interacting with or promoting antisemitic or neo-Nazi content.

He, for example, amplified a post accusing Jews of supporting censorship. He praised two separate Tucker Carlson interviews with troubling content — one featuring a Hitler apologist and the other airing conspiracy theories about Israeli control over US foreign policy. And he once accused the billionaire Holocaust survivor George Soros of “hating humanity,” comparing Soros to Magneto — the Jewish X-Men villain whose hatred of humanity arose from his experience in a death camp.

In the past few weeks, Musk has used his platform on X to repeatedly and loudly advance Germany’s far-right Alternative für Deutschland (AfD) party. The AfD is extreme even by the standards of the European far-right: Some of its members tried to storm the German parliament in 2020, January 6-style, while a former AfD member of parliament was arrested in 2022 for plotting an actual coup. The party is virulently opposed to immigration; its leader Alice Weidel recently called for “remigration” — a mass deportation campaign that could potentially target even legal residents of minority backgrounds. Another leading party figure, Björn Höcke, has called for an end to German guilt over Nazism and used a Nazi slogan in one of his speeches.

The International Auschwitz Committee, a German anti-hate group founded by Holocaust survivors, has repeatedly warned about the party’s dangers.

“With every year of its existence, the AfD has become increasingly cynical and extreme. As a result, it has contributed to a huge level of radicalisation in language and in the extreme far right as a whole in Germany,” Christoph Heubner, the committee’s executive vice president, said in a 2023 press release. “MPs and representatives of the AfD repeatedly trigger disconcerting memories in the survivors of the German concentration and extermination camps with their speeches and public performances.”

So do the many examples of Musk supporting neo-Nazis and promoting their ideas make him a dyed-in-the-wool Nazi, one who simply revealed his true colors at Trump’s inauguration? We can’t tell what’s in his heart, of course, but I think there’s a likely explanation.

We know that Elon Musk has genuinely far-right politics and that he marinades in an online information environment rife with conspiracy theories. We also know that he delights in trolling.

He is willing to pursue these interests even in ways that damage his business. Think about X’s plummeting ad revenues after Musk platformed extremists. Or how he triggered an SEC lawsuit after vowing to take Tesla private at $420 a share (weed jokes, they’re hilarious). Or how, in the midst of a fight with Twitter’s corporate landlord, he repainted the sign to read “Titter” (boob jokes, they’re hilarious).

Elon Musk is many things: a brilliant entrepreneur, the world’s richest man, and a genuinely dangerous political extremist. But he also has a juvenile sense of humor and an adolescent love of transgressing against liberal America’s taboos. He is human South Park.

Such a person could sincerely hold Nazi beliefs. But he could just as easily find joy in making an obvious Nazi gesture on a national stage and then denying it, knowing full well that there would be no serious cost to his actions.

A Thursday morning tweet containing a series of Nazi puns relating to the salute controversy — “Don’t say Hess to Nazi accusations,” “Some people will Goebbels anything down” — makes this all too easy to imagine.

Musk, manners, and the execrable “vibe shift”

It used to be that something like what Musk pulled — a gesture that perfectly mimicked a Nazi salute, intentionally or not — would necessitate some kind of apology. Something along the lines of “Of course I didn’t mean to heil Hitler, and I’m sorry for the hurt this caused to the victims of Nazism and their descendants.”

That’s not what Musk has done. Since Monday, he has gone on the offensive — calling the media propagandists and trying to shift to a debate over liberals’ position on Israel. There’s no contrition, no sense of embarrassment: just utter and complete shamelessness.

This is, of course, one of the defining traits of the Trump era of politics. But what’s striking is that, since Trump’s reelection, the institutions that are supposed to push back on this have kissed the ring.

Take the ADL, which had previously done so much to expose the rise of extremism after Musk’s purchase of Twitter and called him out for flirtations with white supremacy. It got so heated that Musk blamed the ADL directly for X’s loss in revenue and repeatedly threatened to sue them.

The ADL has retained a very low tolerance for public displays of antisemitism since then. After the October 7, 2023, attacks on Israel, it has been quite clearly overzealous in that regard, pursuing pro-Palestinian college students for behavior far less troubling (like handing out anti-Zionist flyers) than what Musk just did.

Yet after the inauguration, the group issued a statement basically giving Musk a hall pass for performing “an awkward gesture.” It did so, in large part, because we are in the midst of “a new beginning” for American politics in which “all sides should give one another a bit of grace.”

Even though the ADL found some spine on Thursday and criticized Musk for the Nazi jokes, the initial statement was capitulation of a particularly notable kind. It was a response to the much-heralded “vibe shift,” a sense that culture has shifted in Trump’s direction after his victory and that the rest of society needs to accommodate his faction. That it’s now realized it went too far, and is going after him for the much lesser offense of making Nazi leaders’ names into puns, does not diminish the severity of its original mistake.

You can see this mindset at work in another exchange about Musk. When Congress member Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez accused Musk of doing a “Nazi salute,” leading right-wing activist Chris Rufo responded by saying that the time for such allegations is over.

“They still think if they shout ‘racist’ and ‘Nazi’ loud enough, the entire society will bend to their narcissism and manipulation. No. It’s not 2020 anymore,” he said.

Both the ADL and Rufo, in very different ways, are showing why we shouldn’t give Musk’s boorish behavior a pass.

The truth is that Musk has a public record of sympathy for odious views, and has shown zero contrition about making a gesture that looked exactly like a Nazi salute. Criticizing him for it is not uncivil or impolite; it is a way to assert that there are real moral standards, certain lines that shouldn’t be crossed by people in positions of power.

The Trump era “vibe shift” isn’t merely a move to the right. It’s a move away from accountability and toward a culture where people get away with meanness, cruelty, and gratuitous insults against the vulnerable. As an anonymous banker put it: “We can say ‘retard’ and ‘pussy’ without the fear of getting cancelled . . . it’s a new dawn.”

At moments like these, collectively insisting on standards is all the more important. One of those standards is that you should not be able to get away with performing a Nazi gesture, intentionally or not, without apologizing like you mean it. Another is that someone with Musk’s record of promoting far-right ideas and approvingly conversing with neo-Nazis should never have been on the inaugural stage to begin with. This is one of the bulwarks we have, as a society, to prevent honest-to-goodness Nazism from reentering the zone of political acceptability.

Yet Musk and Trump have made blurring those moral lines part of their life’s work. I fear we are all about to suffer the consequences — to live in a world where it becomes even more acceptable to openly perform nastiness and extremism. We may enter the world prophesied by philosopher Richard Rorty in 1998, where a far-right backlash brings “all the sadism” we once considered “unacceptable” in public life “flooding back.”

If that indeed comes to pass, the future of American politics is one in which Musk’s ugly display on Monday ends up looking like a dance recital.

Recently, Tesla CEO Elon Musk found himself in hot water after a video surfaced of him making a Nazi salute during a conference call. The controversial gesture has sparked outrage and condemnation from many, with critics pointing out that such actions are not only offensive but also indicative of a larger problem in American society.

Musk’s behavior has raised questions about his judgment and character, with some calling for him to step down from his position at Tesla. The incident has also reignited discussions about the rise of extremism and hate speech in the United States, as well as the need for greater accountability among public figures.

The fact that someone as influential and successful as Musk would engage in such a gesture is troubling, to say the least. It serves as a stark reminder of the erosion of moral values in American society and the normalization of hateful ideologies.

In a time when political polarization and social division are at an all-time high, it is more important than ever for individuals in positions of power to lead by example and promote inclusivity, tolerance, and respect. Musk’s actions have only further highlighted the urgent need for a collective reassessment of our values and priorities as a nation.

Ultimately, the controversy surrounding Elon Musk’s Nazi salute serves as a wake-up call for all Americans to reflect on the state of our morality and to strive for a more compassionate and just society. It is a reminder that we must actively work to combat hate and intolerance in all its forms, lest we continue down a dangerous path towards further division and discord.

  • Iga Świątek books place in Australian Open semifinal as double-bounce call causes controversy

    CNN
     —

Iga Świątek booked her place in the semifinals of this year’s Australian Open after thrashing American star Emma Navarro on Tuesday, but the match wasn’t without its controversy.

While Świątek breezed to a 6-1, 6-2 victory, a double-bounce call at the end of the second set triggered yet more debate about how tennis uses its video technology.

The incident occurred in the fifth game of the second set, when Świątek sprinted towards the net to try to return a drop shot. Despite her best efforts, the world No. 2 didn’t get there in time, with the ball bouncing twice before she scooped it back to her opponent.

However, the double-bounce wasn’t called by the umpire so Navarro played on and ended up losing the point. Because she didn’t stop immediately to challenge the call, she was unable to ask the video technology to check the decision.

“It happened so fast,” Navarro told reporters afterwards, without blaming anyone for the decision.

“You hit the shot, and she hits it back and you’re just like, ‘Oh, I guess I’m playing’. In the back of your head you’re like, ‘OK, maybe I can still win the point even though it wasn’t called.’

“It’s going to be a downer if I stop the point and it turns out it wasn’t a double bounce so it’s tough. I think we should be able to see it afterwards and make that call.”

While frustrating, the point likely had very little impact on the match with Świątek so dominant throughout. She is now the only woman in this year’s semifinals who has yet to lose a set this tournament.

Speaking about the double-bounce call, Świątek said she wasn’t sure what had happened.

“Honestly, I didn’t see the replay after this point because, after the point, I didn’t look up to the screens because I wanted to stay focused and didn’t want this point to stay in my head for a longer period of time,” the five-time grand slam winner told reporters.

“I wasn’t sure if it was a double-bounce or if I hit it with my frame. It’s hard to say because I was full on sprinting.”

Madison Keys celebrates winning her quarterfinal match against Ukraine's Elina Svitolina.

Świątek will now play American Madison Keys in the semifinal on Thursday.

Keys beat Ukrainian Elina Svitolina 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 earlier on Tuesday to set up her third semifinal at this tournament – a decade after her first appearance on this stage in Melbourne.

“To be here 10 years later in the semifinals again, I’m really proud of myself and really excited to play another semifinal here in Melbourne,” Keys, 29, said after her win.

Keys has never reached the final of the Australian Open, though, and will have to produce something special to beat Świątek, who has dominated the women’s draw this year.

Iga Świątek books place in Australian Open semifinal as double-bounce call causes controversy

Polish tennis sensation Iga Świątek has advanced to the semifinals of the Australian Open after a thrilling quarterfinal match that ended in controversy.

Świątek, the reigning French Open champion, defeated her opponent in a hard-fought battle that saw both players showcasing their incredible skills. However, the match took a dramatic turn when a crucial point was awarded to Świątek after a double-bounce call that left fans divided.

The controversial call has sparked debate among tennis fans, with many arguing that the umpire’s decision was incorrect and potentially cost the opposing player the match. Despite the controversy, Świątek remained focused and composed, ultimately securing her spot in the semifinals.

As Świątek continues her impressive run at the Australian Open, she is proving herself to be a force to be reckoned with on the tennis court. With her unwavering determination and exceptional talent, she is sure to be a strong contender for the title.

Stay tuned for more updates on Iga Świątek’s journey at the Australian Open as she aims to make history and claim her second Grand Slam title.

Several social media users on Wednesday claimed that former President Joe Biden‘s name was missing when they searched ‘list of US presidents in order‘ on Google. According to users, President Donald Trump appeared twice (2017–2021, 2025–) immediately after Barack Obama (2009–2017), leaving no mention of Biden, who served as president from 2021 to 2025. We conducted the same search and confirmed the claims were accurate.

Sharing a phone recording on X, platform formerly known as Twitter, one user wrote: “I rarely use this app, but just because others are talking about this on another app – thought to bring it to this side too. When people are googling who was the US president during the Biden years, the answer doesn’t match. Also, when you google “US presidents in order” “

“.@Google so if I type in US Presidents I get a list of US Presidents in order of when they were in office except there’s no @JoeBiden. Anyone know why? @searchliaison what’s going on?” another one asked.

Hours after the error was first noticed, Google fixed the list.

This comes days after Alphabet and Google CEO Sundar Pichai attended President Trump’s inauguration at the Capitol. Several other tech billionaires, including Elon Musk, Mark Zuckerberg and Jeff Bezos, were also at the event. Photos showed the CEOs mingling with several of Trump’s picks for the Cabinet, including Robert F Kennedy Jr as health secretary and Marco Rubio as secretary of state.

Some users have speculated that this omission could be due to a technical glitch or an oversight in Google’s indexing system. However, others have raised suspicions about possible political motivations behind the exclusion of President Biden from the list.

As the country’s current leader, it is crucial for President Biden to be accurately represented in historical records and online platforms. The absence of his name from such a prominent search result raises questions about the reliability and neutrality of the information provided by Google.

This controversy highlights the importance of ensuring that search engines and online platforms present accurate and unbiased information to users. It also serves as a reminder of the power and influence that technology companies have in shaping public perceptions and historical narratives.

  • Invincible Season 3’s Confirmed Release Schedule Is A Massive Relief After Season 2’s Controversy

With Invincible set to return shortly, season 3’s release schedule has officially been released, and it’s a promising update following the backlash of season 2. Despite being one of the best animated shows around, Invincible‘s second season received a lot of criticism, not because of its quality, but for its frustrating release schedule. Having waited around two-and-a-half years between seasons, fans were excited about the show finally continuing its epic story, only for it to go on hiatus for several months after four episodes. Naturally, this upset viewers and caused plenty of frustration among the fan base.

Luckily, Invincible season 3 fixed the mistake by announcing no midseason break would take place this time around. While this was a promising start for the third installment, it didn’t necessarily confirm exactly what the release schedule would look like. Thankfully, the series will be returning to its original format of three episodes on February 6, before releasing one episode weekly for the remaining five. Given how great season 2’s narrative was, it was a huge shame to see it surrounded by so much controversy, but fortunately, Invincible season 3’s story should avoid suffering from these external factors.

Invincible Season 3 Returning To Its Original Release Schedule Is Great News

The Show Is Avoiding The Same Controversy That Hurt Season 2

Now that Invincible season 3 will officially be returning to the same release schedule as season 1 and many other Prime Video shows, the conversation can go back to being about the contents of the show itself. After Invincible season 2’s gripping conclusion and fantastic character work, it’s easy to forget how good the second outing was because of the dissatisfaction among the community. In addition to viewers being upset about the midseason break, there were also complaints about how long season 2 took to arrive in the first place and even some criticism leveled at the animation.

I’m Glad Invincible’s Live-Action Movie Is Taking Its Time

The live-action Invincible movie was announced years ago, but it is still in development. Luckily, this newest update is good news for the film.

However, in comparison to how excellent the story and voice-acting were, these all seem like minor problems and not something that should’ve derailed the show. Therefore, season 3 seemingly avoiding the same fate is excellent news for the franchise, as the praise and critical acclaim that made the first season so popular should be on display once again, as long as the series can maintain its quality. There is still plenty of great material to adapt, and based on the comics, season 3’s story will likely be even more dramatic and emotional than the first two installments.

As a result, the decision to return to its original release format looks like it will fix most of the mistakes that hurt the previous season, and the return in February can hopefully restore Invincible‘s stellar reputation and remind people of why it’s one of the most talked about shows on TV.

Invincible Season 3’s Release Schedule Still Has One Minor Problem

Prime Video’s Hit Season Will Only Be Back For Six Weeks

    Custom Image By Yailin Chacon

Despite the drastically improved release schedule, Invincible season 3 does still face a potential issue. As frustrating as the midseason break was, Invincible season 2 technically had several months in the limelight because of it, for better or for worse. In contrast, season 3 releasing its first three episodes at once means it will only be around for six weeks in total before going on hiatus once again, which could be problematic. Invincible season 4’s confirmation does indicate that the release window between future seasons should be shorter going forward, but it could still be a while before it arrives.

Rather than being a hot topic for months on end, its eight episodes being condensed into six weeks could mean people move on from Invincible shortly after season 3 finishes.

This may not seem like a lot of waiting time for fans who survived the dreaded two-and-a-half-year gap previously, but it does mean season 3’s time in the spotlight could come and go very quickly. Rather than being a hot topic for months on end, its eight episodes being condensed into six weeks could mean people move on from Invincible shortly after season 3 finishes. Still, the first season managed to stay topical for a long time after it wrapped up and gained a massive community, so there is hope season 3 will follow in these footsteps and thrive.

Why Invincible Season 3’s Schedule Is Still Much Better Than Season 2’s

Fans Will Have An Easier Time Waiting For Each Season Without Enduring Midseason Breaks

Custom image of Omni-Man and Invincible

Although season 3’s release schedule does still have its potential problems, it looks a lot more promising than season 2’s. The six-week lifespan may not seem overly promising on paper, but it has been Prime Video’s regular format for some of its most popular shows, with The Boys, Reacher, and The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power all using the same schedule in recent seasons. It hasn’t impacted their overall popularity or relevance, it didn’t hurt Invincible season 1, and it shouldn’t hurt season 3, especially not as much as a midseason break would.

Robert Kirkman claimed Invincible will run for 7–10 seasons.

While two-part seasons have worked for shows in the past, it’s a stronger format for those with large episode counts. Invincible having just eight episodes a season doesn’t justify splitting it in half, making it understandable why audiences were upset about season 2’s direction. It halted the story’s momentum right as it was heating up, and season 3 will rightfully want to avoid the same fate. Although the current method risks the wait for season 4 feeling longer, the franchise seems to have overcome its long delay between seasons, and audiences should be more patient without an unnecessary midseason break.

After the controversy surrounding Season 2 of Invincible, fans can finally breathe a sigh of relief as the release schedule for Season 3 has been confirmed. The hit animated series, based on the comic book of the same name by Robert Kirkman, has been met with both critical acclaim and controversy since its debut.

Season 2 of Invincible faced backlash from fans and critics alike for its handling of sensitive topics, as well as its graphic violence and mature themes. Many viewers felt that the show went too far in its portrayal of certain scenes, leading to heated debates and discussions online.

However, with the announcement of Season 3’s release schedule, fans can now look forward to the continuation of the story without the fear of similar controversies arising. The show’s producers have promised to address some of the concerns raised by viewers in Season 2, while still staying true to the source material and delivering the intense and action-packed storytelling that fans have come to love.

Invincible Season 3 is set to premiere in the fall of next year, with new episodes airing weekly on Amazon Prime Video. The release schedule will give fans plenty of time to speculate and theorize about what’s to come in the next chapter of the series, and hopefully, it will deliver a satisfying conclusion to the story so far.

Overall, the confirmed release schedule for Invincible Season 3 is a massive relief for fans who have been eagerly awaiting the next installment of the show. With promises of addressing past controversies and delivering more of the intense and gripping storytelling that has made the series a hit, Season 3 is sure to be a must-watch for fans of the superhero genre.
