  • Oconee Co. Coroner identifies man found dead under bridge


    OCONEE COUNTY, S.C. (FOX Carolina) – On Saturday evening, the Oconee County Coroner’s Office said they are investigating the death of a man found under a bridge.

    According to the coroner, he was found beneath the bridge span on Blackjack Road that goes over Lake Hartwell near Foxwood Hills.

    The coroner said it is presumed he died on Friday.

    According to the coroner, the man fell down the embankment beside the lake but was not found in the lake itself.

    An autopsy is scheduled for Monday.

    According to the coroner, the E-911 Communications Center received a call at around 9:44 a.m. Saturday reporting an unresponsive man beneath the bridge.

    The manner and cause of death have yet to be released.

    Oconee County deputies said they are continuing the investigation but believe there is no danger to the general public.

    The coroner identified the man as Richard Christian Craig from the Westminster and Fair Play area. He was 21 years old.

    An investigation is ongoing after a 3-year-old girl was mauled to death by two dogs in Roselawn on Friday.The coroner’s office confirmed 3-year-old Kingsley Wright died as a result of the dog attack on Stillwell Road. Cincinnati police confirmed they are investigating the girl’s death. When first responders arrived in Roselawn Friday morning, officers were advised to turn off their body cameras.Gina Smith says her child was spending time with family for the holidays, but she had no idea these dogs were dangerous.”I would have not left my baby around vicious dogs. Why would I do that?” Smith said.What happened still isn’t clear to Smith, and she wants the full picture.”Those kinds of dogs are over 100 pounds, so did they just sit on her and then start mauling on her? Did they crush her? And why? What made them want to do that to just a little baby sleeping on the couch?” Josh Justice, Smith’s boyfriend, said.911 calls from that morning give more details on the incident.According to the 911 call, the father reported he woke up and found his daughter dead and there was blood everywhere. “I don’t understand what went on,” the caller said.The 911 dispatcher then told the caller to put any pets away, to which the caller responded, “they’re in the cage. That’s why I’m like ‘Did any of my pets attack her or something?’ I would’ve heard it.” The dispatcher asked if the dogs were loose, to which the caller responded, “no.”According to the 911 calls, the dogs were Terriers. Smith is hoping that, as this investigation continues, law enforcement will keep her in the loop and get her answers about how these dogs got near Kingsley and why nobody was able to save her.The family has raised more than $1,300 in Kingsley’s memory.Brown Funeral Home in Wilmington is handling her services.

    Coroner rules Sherman Ryan’s death a homicide


    Sherman Ryan apparently suffered injuries from a fight before being discovered.

    TOLEDO, Ohio — The Lucas County Coroner’s Office has ruled the death of 42-year-old Sherman Ryan a homicide. 

    Ryan was found on the side of the road in the 800 block of Oak Street on Dec. 22 with injuries sustained from a reported altercation. He was transported to Mercy Health — St. Vincent Medical Center for treatment but succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead on Dec. 24 at 10:47 p.m. 

    An autopsy performed on Dec. 26 by the Lucas County Coroner’s Office determined the cause of death to be blunt force injuries and ruled the manner of death a homicide. 

    The investigation into Ryan’s death is ongoing.
