However, Cowherd struggled throughout the show, and eventually said he had to leave the air as he was “getting very sick very fast.”
“Folks, I am going to take a break,” Cowherd said suddenly.
“I am getting very, very sick very, very quickly on the set. We will return.”
Fans were understandably concerned, and shared their worry on X as the show went to a seven-minute commercial break.
“Hoping Colin Cowherd is okay. Was not looking or sounding good before quickly tossing to break,” one fan wrote.
“Now, FS1 has been lengthening the commercial break with promos and it’s been 7 minutes since they were on air,” a second noted.

Hosting a national sports talk show while being even slightly under the weather doesn’t sound like a great time because it takes a ton of energy and focus. Doing it while trying to decide in the moment if it’s even possible to go on is marketly worse.

Colin Cowherd confirms move to Chicago as part of FS1 extension
Colin Cowherd formally announced his move to Chicago this week, a big change for the FS1 star and his hit show The Herd.
After Ryan Glasspiegel of Front Office Sports reported Cowherd agreed to a new contract with Fox that will extend his run as the face of the network beyond a decade while splitting time between Los Angeles and Chicago, Cowherd confirmed the new digs Wednesday on The Colin Cowherd Podcast.
Cowherd explained that he and his wife Ann, an interior designer, have maintained an apartment in Chicago for years to enjoy the city lifestyle and visit Ann’s sister. It’s not just a family move, though, as the relocation puts Cowherd in proximity to the Big Ten Network offices. Conveniently, that will allow Cowherd to broadcast The Herd from his new home while being closer to family as well.
“My wife has given a lot to my career and sacrifice,” Cowherd said. “I love the city, she’s got her sister there, I’ve got a lot of friends there. And I think it’s just time to be a better guy, be a better husband.”
The host first teased a move to Chicago last April. In his announcement this week, Cowherd said he told Fox Sports of his intentions six months ago.
Because Fox is a majority owner and operating partner of the Big Ten Network, the move works well logistically for FS1, which was built around Cowherd when it launched in 2016. The Herd remains competitive against ESPN’s The Pat McAfee Show and anchors FS1’s daytime lineup.
It won’t be a full goodbye to L.A., where Fox Sports also broadcasts its daytime shows Speak and The Facility as well as its Sunday NFL pregame slate. Cowherd estimated he will spend a few weeks each football season back in Southern California.
Cowherd, who also works for iHeartMedia as part of a distribution deal for the radio simulcast of The Herd, believes experiencing a new part of the country helps him as a sports analyst. And he has bounced around a lot, starting his career in the West before later heading to Tampa and ultimately Bristol.
“I always said I think it’s an advantage as a broadcaster,” Cowherd said. “I think it gives me a sense of every region.”
Now Cowherd can officially add the midwest to the list.
The radio veteran did not give a formal date for his move, and Fox Sports has not officially announced Cowherd’s new deal. On his podcast, Cowherd stated the relocation will happen this spring.

Colin Cowherd has announced he is moving his daily Fox Sports talk show from Los Angeles to Chicago later this year.

How Colin Cowherd Positively Graded Patriots’ Mike Vrabel Hire

The Minnesota Vikings have an enormous game on Sunday night against the Detroit Lions with both the NFC North and the conference’s only bye on the line. It’s been a surprising, spectacular season led by a rejuvenated Sam Darnold. There are so many reasons for the franchise to be happy, yet the unexpected success presents a question for the front office to answer in the offseason.
How do they handle their future with Darnold and J.J. McCarthy, the team’s first round draft pick who lost his rookie campaign to injury before it got off the ground? And could Daniel Jones, who was brought in after his unceremonious release by the New York Giants in late November, somehow be in play?
Those are obviously issues to tackle after the 2024 Vikings season concludes, potentially after a trip to the Super Bowl in New Orleans considering they way they’ve played.
But Colin Cowherd is a person who thinks ahead and he’s cooked up a plan. Not just for the Vikings, but for the team he grew up rooting for: the Seattle Seahawks.
“Seattle, do you think they’re going to go back with Geno Smith again?” Cowherd asked on his show Thursday. “They can get J.J. McCarthy for a second and a fourth, maybe a second, fourth and fifth. Vikings get their draft picks, they’re franchise tagging at minimum Sam Darnold.”

Cowherd’s crystal ball tells him that the Vikings could very well rehab Jones in the same way they rehabbed Darnold, that Minnesota needs draft picks more than anything and that the Seahawks have a title-winning roster in need of an upgrade at quarterback.
“If I ran Seattle … I’d make the deal tomorrow,” Cowherd said.
It’s worth pointing out that the FS1 host does not run the Seahawks and no deal is likely to be announced tomorrow. McCarthy is a totally unproven entity at the NFL level and it’s hard to imagine the Vikings not opting to run it back with Darnold next year. So on paper this arrangement makes a lot of sense for both parties. Then again this league is wildly unpredictable. For that evidence, look no further than Darnold and Minnesota, which could walk away with the NFC’s best record in a matter of days.

Geno Smith, who has guided the Seahawks to three-straight winning seasons, is under contract for one more year but will count for $38 million against the cap in 2025. This will be the highest cap hit on the roster next season. The Seahawks can alleviate the impact of Smith’s salary by giving him a modest extension.
Or, they could simply decide to move on from him. Should Seattle trade or release Smith, they can save $25 million in cap space with only a $13 million dead cap hit. If the Seahawks do decide to go this route, who will take the reigns at quarterback?
Fox Sports host Colin Cowherd suggests Seattle should make a deal with the Minnesota Vikings to acquire former first round quarterback JJ McCarthy. Selected No. 10 overall by the Vikings in the 2024 NFL draft, McCarthy’s career in Minnesota appears to be already in question. McCarthy tore his meniscus during the preseason and went on injured reserve. In his place, veteran journeyman Sam Darnold has gone on to have a career year and has the Vikings on the verge of clinching the No. 1 seed.
All signs seem to indicate Minnesota is going to keep Darnold for 2025, which leaves McCarthy somewhat in limbo when it comes to the Vikings’ plans. Cowherd does make an interesting argument in favor of Seattle acquiring McCarthy.
The financial aspect is by far the most compelling point Cowherd brought up. As it stands, the Seahawks are trending to be slightly over the cap in 2025. They will need to find a way to get back under, as well as free up resources to pay both their own players and find a way to upgrade elsewhere (such as the offensive line, which general manager John Schneider should rethink his “guards are overpaid” philosophy).
If Seattle does decide to make a move for McCarthy, it will give them the single greatest advantage in the world of salary caps: a quarterback on his rookie contract. It was the Seahawks who showed the successful model of taking advantage of a quarterback getting paid comparatively little, while investing elsewhere to create a super roster in order to compete for a championship. Seattle has a talented roster, especially on defense which has been corrected thanks to head coach Mike Macdonald.
There is pause for concern with McCarthy, who has already suffered a serious knee injury before even taking one regular season snap. Durability has to be a concern, and might even lower the asking price from Minnesota. Still, he was a first round quarterback for a reason, and with this upcoming class being nowhere near as deep at the game’s most important position, Schneider should make a phone call or two with the Vikings to see if a deal could in fact be made.
