OG Bloodline member to be eliminated from the Royal Rumble by current WWE champion? Potential WrestleMania 41 title feud explored
In just a few hours, the 2025 Men’s Royal Rumble Match is set to take place, and the WWE Universe is buzzing with excitement. Roman Reigns, CM Punk, and more are already confirmed as entrants, and there are strong hints suggesting that The Rock could make a shocking return.
However, after this week’s SmackDown, it seems likely that OG Bloodline member, Jimmy Uso, could be eliminated by Shinsuke Nakamura to set up a feud for WrestleMania 41. This speculation arose after the latest episode of the blue brand, where the King of Strong Style was spotted in the background as Big Jim made his entrance.
This subtle hint suggests that WWE might be planning a feud between these two stars. With Nakamura currently holding the United States Championship, it’s possible that the mid-card title could be on the line in this potential rivalry.
If both Shinsuke and Jimmy enter the over-the-top-rope contest, the Japanese star could be the one to eliminate the Samoan Twin, planting the initial seeds for their upcoming title feud. The former Tag Team Champion could then seek revenge for his elimination, fueling their rivalry.
Additionally, WWE could incorporate a storyline that highlights the contrast between Jey and Jimmy’s singles runs. It could be done by showcasing how the YEET Master is receiving world title opportunities while his brother is struggling to break through.
This angle has already been referenced, with Carmelo Hayes mocking Jimmy and taking personal shots at his lack of opportunities. Nakamura could follow a similar path, intensifying their rivalry and positioning Jimmy as a serious contender for the U.S. Title.
A feud for the mid-card championship would be a great way for WWE to establish Jimmy’s singles run outside the Bloodline saga. Ultimately, it will be interesting to see what unfolds at Royal Rumble 2025 when the 30-man over-the-top-rope battle takes place.
Shinsuke Nakamura might not target only Jimmy Uso ahead of WWE Royal Rumble 2025
Not only is the OG Bloodline member a potential target, but it seems like the King of Strong Style has more opponents on his radar. During this week’s SmackDown, Shinsuke Nakamura was spotted in a backstage conversation while Damian Priest, LA Knight, and R-Truth were talking.
This could be a major indication that WWE might be heading toward a singles title rivalry between Jimmy Uso and Shinsuke. Otherwise, it could be the buildup of a multi-man title storyline leading into this year’s Showcase of The Immortals.

5.0Menendez Family Reveals Brothers’ Current Mindset Ahead of Resentencing Hearing (Exclusive)
Anamaria Baralt says she is often asked what her cousins Lyle and Erik Menendez are like.
“Lyle’s humor is sharp and quick, it’s one of the things that’s kept him and our family going,” says Baralt as she talks about the brothers, who fatally shot their parents Jose and Kitty Menendez at their Beverly Hills, Calif. home in 1989. “And Erik, he’s got this deep compassion that makes him someone everyone can lean on. But what stands out most about them is their resilience.”
While serving life sentences in prison, Erik, 54, and Lyle, 57 — who claim they killed their parents because they feared for their lives after years of sexual abuse by Jose — have “managed to build meaningful lives,” says Baralt, 53, who spoke about the brothers’ much-anticipated resentencing hearing at a National Press Club event in Washington, D.C., on Jan. 23.
“What’s driving me, and my family, is love,” she tells PEOPLE. “Their continued incarceration serves no societal purpose and only prolongs our family’s pain. They’ve taken responsibility for their actions, they’ve committed their lives to helping others and they’ve done it all while carrying the weight of their past and the judgment of the world. All we want is to welcome them home.”

In October 2024, the Menendez brothers appeared to be on the verge of release when then-L.A. District Attorney George Gascón filed a re-sentencing request that could have ultimately freed them. However, Gascón lost his bid for reelection, and what newly elected district attorney Nathan Hochman plans to do is unclear.

“We are still figuring it out,” Hochman told PEOPLE when asked if he would support or withdraw his predecessor’s resentencing motion.
The brothers’ journey to what they — and nearly two-dozen supportive family members like Baralt — hope will pave the way to their release has been a long time coming. Their fate took an unexpected twist last year when a new generation of supporters joined the call for their release from prison, owing to a cultural shift in understanding of the devastating toll that sexual abuse survivors face, along with the impact of Netflix’s hit drama Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story and a documentary on the streaming service, The Menendez Brothers.

By last October, efforts to re-sentence the men to 50 years to life — making them immediately eligible for parole as “youthful offenders” since Lyle was 21 and Erik was 18 at the time of the murders—seemed to be on the threshold of success. But many now wonder if their best shot at walking free is fading due to the November election of Hochman, who ordered a re-examination of the case and replaced members of the D.A.’s re-sentencing unit with attorneys of his own picking.
At this point,” says Laurie Levenson, a professor at L.A.’s Loyola Law School who has followed the case for decades, “Hochman is reviewing the case because he’s not quite sure that he feels the same way about it as Gascón.”
Asked if Gascón losing the election was a setback for the brothers, Cliff Gardner, one of the attorneys representing the Menendez brothers, tells PEOPLE that it “remains to be seen.”
Lyle, Erik, Kitty and Jose Menendez.
“In the typical homicide case, of course, a more conservative prosecutor would want to pay great attention to views expressed by family members of the deceased,” he says. “Here, it is very much an open question if the new district attorney will seriously consider the many, many family members of both Kitty and Jose Menendez who have come forward repeatedly to plead for Erik and Lyle’s release after 35 years in prison.”
Even by big-city standards, the grisly shotgun murders of former beauty queen Kitty, 47, and wealthy music executive Jose, 45, as the couple watched TV in their Beverly Hills home in August of 1989 was a shocking crime. Arrested seven months later, Erik and Lyle were charged with murder and tried together before separate juries, with both trials ending in mistrial. In a second trial in 1996, the brothers were found guilty and sentenced to life without parole.

“This tragedy will always be the most astounding and regrettable thing that has ever happened in my life,” Lyle told PEOPLE in 2017. “You can’t escape the memories, and I long ago stopped trying.”
For much of the past three and a half decades, the Menendezes — who have both been active in organizing support for their fellow inmates — filed appeals but knew the odds of being released were slim. In 2023, however, their attorneys, riding a groundswell of public support, filed a habeas corpus petition asking for a review of newly discovered evidence, including a letter Erik purportedly sent to a cousin months before the killings that mentioned Jose’s ongoing sexual assault, and an affidavit by a member of the boy band Menudo who alleged that Jose, who headed the band’s record label, raped him in the 1980s. The habeas petition remains a possible avenue for freedom.
But Levenson isn’t convinced that this new evidence would be enough to overturn the Menendezes’s 1996 convictions. “I don’t think that’s likely to succeed,” she says.
And now, exactly what will happen at the resentencing hearing beginning on March 20 is anyone’s guess.
The brothers, according to their cousin, are trying their best to take things day by day. “Erik and Lyle are cautiously optimistic,” says Baralt. “They’re grateful for the support they’ve received and for the opportunity to have their sentence reconsidered.”
If you or someone you know has been a victim of sexual abuse, text “STRENGTH” to the Crisis Text Line at 741-741 to be connected to a certified crisis counselor.
The Menendez family has been in the spotlight once again as brothers Lyle and Erik Menendez prepare for their upcoming resentencing hearing. In an exclusive interview with People magazine, the family has revealed the current mindset of the brothers as they face the possibility of a new sentence.According to sources close to the family, both Lyle and Erik have been reflecting on their past actions and are hopeful for a second chance at a fair sentence. They have reportedly expressed remorse for their crimes and are eager to show the court how they have changed and grown over the years.
The Menendez brothers were convicted of the brutal murders of their parents in 1996 and have been serving life sentences without the possibility of parole. However, recent changes in California law have opened the door for their resentencing, giving them a chance at a reduced sentence.
As the resentencing hearing approaches, the Menendez family is hopeful that the court will take into account the brothers’ rehabilitation and remorse when considering their new sentence. They are optimistic that Lyle and Erik will finally have a chance to prove that they have changed for the better and deserve a second chance at life outside of prison.
Stay tuned for more updates on the Menendez brothers’ resentencing hearing as the family continues to support them through this difficult time.

Adams County sheriff, current and former deputies, win $5 million judgment for wrongful termination by predecessor
A federal jury found former Adams County Sheriff Rick Reigenborn was political and punitive and violated the First Amendment when he fired four top commanders after winning the 2018 sheriff’s election because they supported his opponent. The jury awarded the men $5 million on Tuesday.
In the highly unusual case, current Adams County Sheriff Gene Claps and three other former top commanders who were working at the office in 2018 sued their own county commissioners for the wrongful terminations six years ago – even though they have all landed good jobs, or, in one case, even retired by now.
In 2018, all of the men were supporting the incumbent sheriff Mike McIntosh, a Republican, for re-election. They donated to his campaign and showed up at campaign events.
But Reigenborn, a Democrat, and a one-time department sergeant with no top command experience, surprisingly won the 2018 election in a political swing year. On Reigenborn’s first day in office, he summarily fired Claps and a handful of others for no reason other than their past political support, the jury found.
Their lawyers spent nine days in a federal courtroom playing tapes, showing text messages and other documents to jurors proving Reigenborn’s intentions to get revenge on his political enemies when he was sworn in as sheriff. Reigenborn had lost the 2014 election to McIntosh and left the department.
“He nursed a paranoid grudge for four years against Mr. McIntosh’s most prominent supporters,” said Iris Halpern, the attorney for the plaintiffs, from the firm Rathod Mohamedbhai. “When he won in 2018, Mr. Reigenborn wasted no time carrying out his personal vendetta, purging the command staff and cleaning house of McIntosh supporters.”
The county’s attorneys countered in closing arguments that Reigenborn had the right to hire his own executive team, but that argument proved unconvincing to the jury.
“The only thing that matters is whether his decision to terminate the employment of these four men violated the First Amendment of the United States Constitution. That’s it. That’s the only question. And it didn’t,” argued Katherine M.L. Pratt, with Thompson Coe, a private firm that represented the county. “This wasn’t about plaintiff’s political support for Mr. McIntosh. It was about how they treated their coworkers at the Adams County Sheriff’s Office.”
The verdict is likely to resonate across Colorado, where the results of sheriff elections can carry political implications for deputies who are often drawn into campaigns whether they like it or not.
A CPR News investigation in 2022 found that Reigenborn abruptly locked top command staff out of the headquarters building after he was sworn in. After firing the top command staff, Reigenborn replaced them with officers from small departments around Colorado.
In a groundbreaking victory, the Adams County sheriff, along with current and former deputies, have won a $5 million judgment for wrongful termination by their predecessor. This ruling not only vindicates the sheriff and his team but also serves as a powerful message against unjust actions in the workplace. Read on to learn more about this historic case and the impact it may have on the future of law enforcement. #AdamsCountySheriff #WrongfulTermination #JusticePrevails

Acclaimed filmmaker Quentin Tarantino has condemned the current state of the film industry. The Pulp Fiction director rose to Hollywood stardom with his stunning debut Reservoir Dogs in 1993 and has gone on to enjoy a critically and commercially successful career across nine feature films. The 61-year-old has long stated that his 10th movie will be the last of his career, but some of his recent comments suggest audiences could be waiting a while before he decides to make it.
While at the Sundance Film Festival (via Variety), Tarantino revealed his next project was to be a play, not a movie, before launching a scathing attack on the state of the movie industry currently, as well as the fact that theatrical releases are not the focal point anymore. He goes on to call the whole process a “…show pony exercise,” before reiterating the importance of theaters for helping to keep the movie industry ticking over. Check out Tarantino’s full comments on the matter below:
“That’s a big f*cking deal pulling [a play] off, and I don’t know if I can. So here we go. That’s a challenge, a genuine challenge, but making movies? Well, what the f*ck is a movie now? What — something that plays in theaters for a token release for four f*cking weeks? All right, and by the second week you can watch it on television. I didn’t get into all this for diminishing returns.
I mean, it was bad enough in ’97. It was bad enough in 2019, and that was the last f*cking year of movies. That was a sh*t deal, as far as I was concerned, the fact that it’s gotten drastically worse? And that it’s just, it’s a show pony exercise. Now the theatrical release, you know, and then, like, yeah, in two weeks, you can watch it on this [streamer] and that one. Okay. Theater? You can’t do that. It’s the final frontier.”
It Could Be Some Time Before His Next Movie
Tarantino’s comments come from a place of frustration, from a man who was first and foremost a movie fan before he was a filmmaker. His comments suggest that he is jaded with the direction the industry has taken, as well as the rise in the prominence (and dominance) of streaming services over long theatrical runs. It is worth noting, that this is not the first time Tarantino has taken aim at the industry, with the director famously criticizing Marvel movies as being formulaic, and suggesting they have contributed to the death of the classic movie star.
While the industry is struggling, there is more of a need than ever for talented and creative minds, and Tarantino’s 10th movie could be the perfect tonic to help boost box office takings and improve audience engagement in theaters.
Judging by what he has to say above, it seems Tarantino believes things have only gotten worse. The outspoken Oscar winner also recently proclaimed television as an inferior medium to movies, but it seems as though he believes there needs to be massive changes made across the industry, and he has little interest in returning to make his 10th and final film any time soon. This is likely one of the reasons that has inspired him to pivot creatively and write a play, while leaving his final movie project on the backburner.
The Director Does Have A Point, But His 10th Film Could Help Get Things Back On Track
Tarantino does have a point about the direction the movie industry is going in, though as a perfectionist, he is perhaps more critical than most audiences would be. Furthermore, while the industry is struggling, there is more of a need than ever for talented and creative minds, and Tarantino’s 10th movie could be the perfect tonic to help boost box office takings and improve audience engagement in theaters. Much will come down to how his play pans out, and Tarantino could be back behind the camera sooner rather than later.
There Have Been Great Movies Since Once Upon A Time…In Hollywood Was Released
While there is definitely merit to Tarantino’s criticisms, his comments also oversimplify the issues at hand. Increasingly shortened theatrical releases, the proliferation of streaming services, studios’ relying on already popular intellectual properties, and diminishing returns for those who work on movies are among the many problems that are currently plaguing the industry. That being said, it is an oversimplification to say that 2019 “was the last f*cking year of movies.”

Tarantino referencing 2019 is no accident, as it is the year he released his latest film, Once Upon a Time…in Hollywood, and the last year before the industry was upended by the Covid-19 pandemic. Since Tarantino’s last release and despite the challenges that came with the pandemic, there have been many phenomenal movies that have debuted and that have found critical and commercial success. Oppenheimer, Everything Everywhere All at Once, and Dune: Part Two are only a few of the best movies to be released so far in the 2020s.

Tarantino’s The Movie Critic, which was originally going to be his 10th and final movie, has been canceled, and he is in no rush to create another moment right now, especially when there are many issues within the industry. Tarantino’s current creative stance and the industry’s widespread issues do not negate the success and diverse range of successful and beautiful movies that have debuted since 2019. By the time Quentin Tarantino makes his next movie, there will be many other impressive films that have been released, and hopefully, some of the industry’s issues will have been addressed.

Quentin Tarantino, the acclaimed filmmaker known for his unique storytelling and stylistic approach to filmmaking, has recently spoken out against the current state of the movie industry. In a recent interview, Tarantino expressed his concerns about the lack of originality and risk-taking in Hollywood, criticizing the industry for prioritizing sequels, reboots, and franchises over original and innovative storytelling.Tarantino, who is known for his bold and provocative films such as Pulp Fiction, Kill Bill, and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, believes that the focus on big-budget blockbusters and formulaic storytelling has stifled creativity and diversity in the industry. He argues that this trend has led to a homogenization of cinema, where independent voices and unique visions are often overlooked in favor of safe bets and guaranteed box office returns.
Despite his criticisms, Tarantino remains hopeful that there is still room for original and visionary filmmakers to break through and make their mark in the industry. He encourages aspiring filmmakers to pursue their creative instincts and push the boundaries of storytelling, rather than conforming to the status quo.
As one of the most influential and respected filmmakers of our time, Tarantino’s words carry weight and serve as a rallying cry for those who believe in the power of cinema to challenge, inspire, and provoke thought. It remains to be seen whether his words will spark a shift in the industry, but one thing is clear: Quentin Tarantino will continue to champion originality and creativity in an industry that often values commercial success over artistic integrity.
