  • Who Is Caroline Kennedy: Kennedy Curse, Family, Net Worth, Career And Speaking Out Against RFK Jr.

Caroline Kennedy, the only surviving child of former US President John F. Kennedy and Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, has led an extraordinary life shaped by privilege, tragedy, and dedication to public service. At 67, she continues to make headlines for her illustrious career and personal contributions to politics, education, and humanitarian efforts.

    A Family Shaped by Tragedy

Born on 27 November 1957 in New York City, Caroline was just five years old when her father, President John F. Kennedy, was assassinated in 1963. Her family’s tragic legacy extended beyond this momentous loss. Her uncle, Robert F. Kennedy, was assassinated in 1968, and her brother, John F. Kennedy Jr., died in a plane crash in 1999. These personal tragedies have been often referred to as the “Kennedy Curse” according to Marie Claire.

Despite the heartbreak, Caroline inherited her family’s commitment to public service. Her mother, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, prioritised shielding Caroline and her brother from the intense media scrutiny, even moving them to Greece after marrying shipping magnate Aristotle Onassis. However, Caroline eventually returned to the United States to pursue her education and career.

    Academic and Early Career Milestones

Caroline attended the prestigious Concord Academy in Massachusetts before earning her BA in American History and Literature from Harvard University. Later, she attended Columbia Law School, graduating with her JD in 1988.

Caroline explored a range of career options in her early years. She worked as a research assistant at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York and even considered photojournalism before transitioning to law and public service. Her passion for education saw her take up a role as the Director of the Office of Strategic Partnerships for the New York City Department of Education, where she famously worked for a token salary of £0.80 ($1) a week as reported by Marie Claire.

    A High-Profile Political Career

Caroline’s foray into politics began with her endorsement of Barack Obama during his 2008 presidential campaign. She later co-chaired his Vice Presidential Search Committee and played a prominent role in his re-election campaign in 2012.

In 2013, President Obama appointed Caroline as the US Ambassador to Japan, making her the first woman to hold the position. During her tenure, she strengthened US-Japan relations, attended commemorative ceremonies for atomic bomb victims, and christened the USS John F. Kennedy aircraft carrier.

In 2021, President Joe Biden named Caroline as the US Ambassador to Australia. Her appointment was seen as a nod to the Kennedy family’s enduring legacy. During her ambassadorship, she focused on climate change, Pacific Island support, and bolstering US-Australia relations under the AUKUS alliance. She concluded her tenure in 2024, coinciding with Donald Trump’s presidential election win.

    Personal Life and Family

Caroline married Edwin Schlossberg, a designer and artist, in 1986. The couple shares three children: Rose, Tatiana, and Jack. Rose is an actress and writer, Tatiana is a journalist focused on climate change, and Jack is a lawyer and active member of the JFK Library Foundation per People.

In addition to her family life, Caroline is a published author and editor. She has co-written books on privacy law and human rights and has edited several collections, including one featuring her mother’s favourite poems. Her literary and philanthropic efforts reflect her deep commitment to preserving her family’s legacy while championing public causes.

    Net Worth and Legacy

Caroline Kennedy’s financial success is equally notable. Her net worth is estimated at £200 million ($250 million), derived from her work, inheritance, and property, including the 375-acre Red Gate Farm in Martha’s Vineyard that she inherited from her mother according to Celebrity Net Worth.

Despite her achievements, Caroline has not shied away from expressing strong opinions. In a recent letter to lawmakers, she criticised her cousin, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., calling him a ‘predator’ and denouncing his controversial views on vaccinations. She alleged that his stance has been harmful and self-serving, distancing herself from his public health positions per USA Today.

From her diplomatic roles to her advocacy for education and healthcare, she continues to embody the Kennedy spirit of public service.

Caroline Kennedy, the only living child of President John F. Kennedy and First Lady Jacqueline Kennedy, is a prominent figure in American politics and public service. Born on November 27, 1957, Caroline has carried on her family’s legacy of public service and activism throughout her life.

Despite being a member of the famous Kennedy family, Caroline has faced her fair share of tragedy and controversy. The Kennedy family has been plagued by what some refer to as the “Kennedy Curse,” a series of untimely deaths and scandals that have haunted the family for generations. Caroline’s father, President John F. Kennedy, was assassinated in 1963, and her uncle, Robert F. Kennedy, was assassinated in 1968 while running for president.

Caroline has worked tirelessly to uphold her family’s reputation and has made a name for herself in her own right. She has served as the United States Ambassador to Japan and as the President of the John F. Kennedy Library Foundation. She has also authored several books and worked as a lawyer and education advocate.

In recent years, Caroline has made headlines for speaking out against her cousin, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., over his controversial views on vaccines and public health. Caroline, who has been a vocal advocate for vaccination and public health initiatives, has publicly criticized RFK Jr. for spreading misinformation about vaccines and their safety.

Despite the controversies and tragedies that have surrounded her family, Caroline Kennedy remains a respected and influential figure in American politics and public service. Her net worth is estimated to be around $250 million, largely stemming from her family’s fortune and her own successful career in public service and writing.

Overall, Caroline Kennedy’s dedication to public service and her commitment to upholding her family’s legacy have solidified her as a prominent figure in American politics and society.

  • Four Falls of Buffalo, Super Bowl curse, four straight Super Bowl losses, drought, Scott Norwood missed field goal, cursed, Marv Levy, Jim Kelly, documentary

The Buffalo Bills went to four straight Super Bowls – but they aren’t remembered for that feat. Instead, they’re remembered for losing each of them.

Watch every game of the NFL Postseason, including the Super Bowl, live with ESPN on Kayo Sports. New to Kayo? Get your first month for just $1. Limited time offer.

While Josh Allen and his Bills are currently attempting to break the team’s Super Bowl drought, in the early 90s the Bills were the team to beat.

    First Round Playoffs

But unfortunately for Marv Levy’s men, they produced their worst games in each of those four championship matches to go down in history as the NFL’s biggest losers.

“There’s always that – ‘but you didn’t win the Super Bowl’,” Bills Hall of Fame quarterback Jim Kelly said on his legacy on Kayo documentary Four Falls of Buffalo.

And still to this day, the Bills are yet to claim a Super Bowl victory – one of 12 teams in the NFL to never taste that Lombardi Trophy success.

Bills fans will ask: How different could Buffalo’s dynasty be had kicker Scott Norwood’s potential Super Bowl match-winner not sailed wide right in 1991 – the first of the four straight defeats?

What would have happened if assistant Chuck Dickerson hadn’t lit a fire under Washington players with his pre-Super Bowl ‘hog’ taunts in 1992?

Would Thurman Thomas have made an impact if a member of Harry Connick Jnr’s band did not move his helmet during Super Bowl XXVI – ensuring he missed precious match time looking for it/searching for a replacement?

The Bills of the 1990s could be considered cursed.

Norwood would become the poster boy for Buffalo’s misery – with his missed 47-yard field goal with just eight seconds to play in Super Bowl XXV etched in every NFL fan’s mind as the infamous ‘Wide Right’.

Everything was riding on Norwood’s kick but as Al Michaels famously called it in commentary, it was “no good … wide right” and the Bills were defeated 20-19 in crushing scenes.

The kicker, who would later be dumped by the Bills after their second straight Super Bowl loss – missing the next two defeats, relives the moment in the Four Falls of Buffalo documentary.

“I had expected a very, very positive, exciting result (in the first Super Bowl appearance). To so quickly turn to the other end of the spectrum is really quite an emotional flip-flop,” he said.

“What recollection I would have after would definitely be categorised as a blur.

“I almost relate it to being in some kind of accident where it’s almost shock, the magnitude of it not working out kind of seeping on top of me.

“Sorrow, I guess, and disappointment in letting down teammates that are there on the field of battle with you (were the first emotions).

“I get choked up thinking about it, putting myself back in the situation on the sidelines.”

By the time they made their way to a fourth straight Super Bowl in 1994, there was nothing left to give.

“We got together as a team and almost said let’s not go (to a third straight Super Bowl),” Bills star James Lofton said on Four Falls of Buffalo.

“If you lose, you will be the greatest losers of all time,” Buffalo general manager Bill Polian was warned at the time.

The likes of Kelly, Thomas, Bruce Smith and Darryl Talley would all finish their careers without that ultimate victory – despite double digit win seasons in four straight years of dominance (and four straight AFC Championship titles).

“It hurt me then, it still hurts me now,” Thomas says.

“I’m still upset about losing four Super Bowls.

    “I went to all four!”

The Bills were so bad in the championship game that fans dubbed them the acronym Boy I Love Losing Superbowls (BILLS).

Current day Buffalo fans are desperate for their team to be remembered for something other than the four straight Super Bowl losses.

Could Sean McDermott’s men, led from the front by star quarterback Josh Allen, be the ones to do it?

The 2024/25 NFL playoffs begin from January 11, with the Bills taking on the Broncos in the Wildcard Playoff from 5am AEDT.

Watch the Four Falls of Buffalo documentary onKayo.

The Four Falls of Buffalo: The Super Bowl Curse

The Buffalo Bills are known for one of the most infamous streaks in NFL history – four straight Super Bowl losses. This heartbreaking drought, often referred to as the “Super Bowl curse,” has haunted the Bills and their fans for decades.

The first of the four falls came in Super Bowl XXV in 1991, where the Bills faced the New York Giants. With just seconds left in the game, kicker Scott Norwood missed a potential game-winning field goal, sealing a victory for the Giants.

Despite this devastating loss, the Bills returned to the Super Bowl for three consecutive years, only to come up short each time. Led by head coach Marv Levy and quarterback Jim Kelly, the Bills were a dominant force in the AFC, but could never clinch the championship.

The “Four Falls of Buffalo” has become a symbol of perseverance and heartbreak in football history. In 2015, ESPN released a documentary of the same name, chronicling the highs and lows of the Bills’ Super Bowl runs.

Despite the curse that has plagued the Bills for so long, their resilience and determination have made them a beloved team in the hearts of fans. The four falls may have been devastating, but they have also become a defining moment in the history of the Buffalo Bills.

  • Curse of Bobby Layne for the Detroit Lions, explained

If you’re a Detroit Lions fan, you know about this one.

So this one’s for everyone else out there: the Detroit Lions have been an NFL franchise since 1930, when they were the Portsmouth Spartans. They became the Lions in 1934 and last won an NFL championship in 1957 before there was a Super Bowl.

THE 12 TEAMS NEVER TO WIN A SUPER BOWL: Sorry, Lions fans. You’re on the list.

This brings us to the Curse of Bobby Layne. Back in 1958, the Lions traded Layne to the Pittsburgh Steelers, and an angry Layne allegedly declared the Lions wouldn’t win a title for 50 years.

Now, if that curse was a thing, it would have expired by now, right? And Peyton Manning and actor Jeff Daniels have been trying to get rid of it, too.

So … we’ll see this year if it’s gone.

The Curse of Bobby Layne is a legendary curse that has haunted the Detroit Lions for decades. Bobby Layne was a star quarterback for the Lions in the 1950s, leading them to three NFL championships. However, in 1958, Layne was traded to the Pittsburgh Steelers, allegedly after he famously declared that the Lions would not win another championship for 50 years.

Since Layne’s departure, the Lions have struggled to find success, often plagued by losing seasons, missed opportunities, and heartbreaking defeats. Despite having talented players and promising seasons, the Lions have failed to make it to the Super Bowl or win a championship since Layne’s departure.

Many fans believe that Layne’s curse is the reason for the Lions’ lack of success, as if his departure brought a dark cloud over the team that still lingers to this day. Some even say that Layne’s spirit still haunts the team, cursing them to perpetual disappointment.

Whether you believe in curses or not, there is no denying the eerie coincidence of the Lions’ struggles since Layne’s departure. The Curse of Bobby Layne remains a mysterious and ominous presence in the history of the Detroit Lions.

  • Jeff Daniels and Peyton Manning break the Detroit Lions ‘Curse of Bobby Layne’

On Thursday, October 27, 2022, the world learned of a ritual conducted at Ford Field to break a supposed curse on the Lions. The Lions haven’t been the same since.

DETROIT — In 1958 a disgruntled Hall of Fame quarterback supposedly laid a curse on the Detroit Lions after being traded to the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Bobby Layne was the quarterback for the Lions from 1950 until 1958, leading the team to three NFL Championships in 1952, 1953 and 1957.

The hard-drinking, gun-slinging QB was a fan favorite but often butted heads with coaches and the front office for his behavior. It was rumored that Layne would sometimes drink before and even during games, some saying that his 4th quarter comebacks and game-winning drives would come after he sobered up.

In 1957, Layne broke his ankle causing him to miss the final three games of the season. Backup QB Tobin Rote would fill in, win those final games and take home the NFL Championship. That’s when the Lions traded Layne to the Steelers.

Layne supposedly put a curse on the Lions saying they wouldn’t win another Championship for 50 years. And they didn’t: becoming one of the worst franchises in football and becoming the butt of joke after joke. And even to this day, they still haven’t won a Super Bowl, or even gone to one. But all that seems like it is changing.

The Lions no longer seem like the same old Lions. But why is that? What changed? Some are attributing the Lions’ success to an unlikely duo who crossed paths at Ford Field in the summer of 2022.

Michigan icon Jeff Daniels and Hall of Fame QB Peyton Manning decided they were going to break this curse once and for all.

The two filmed a ritual in the endzone at Ford Field, filling a bathtub with whiskey, filling Layne’s old helmet with the whiskey, adding salt to the tub and reciting an incantation.

The ritual was conducted in the summer ahead of the 2022-23 season, and the beginning of the season didn’t really make it seem like the curse was broken. The Lions started the season with only a single win through the end of October. Then, the episode of Peyton’s Places aired and things started to change.

I spoke with Jeff Daniels last week about the curse, the ritual and what he really believes.

“The Lions won eight out of their next 10. And then the following year, they start out, and they have that great year, and they get all the way to San Francisco and the NFC Championship. And by this point, people anywhere I go at Ford Field, they’re going, you broke the curse, you and Peyton broke it past tense,” Daniels said.

The Lions’ rebound in 2022 wasn’t anything short of a herculean effort, starting the season 1-6 and ending with a chance at the playoffs at 9-8. This was the start of something new.

Then, in 2023, the Lions won the NFC North for the first time in decades, before winning two playoff games in Detroit and eventually falling to the 49ers in the NFC Championship game. Now, in 2024, the Lions are favored to win the Super Bowl after the first round of the playoffs.

“I mean, I can’t go anywhere in Ford Field without being, you know, asked if I thought, I think the Lions should make a statue of me and Peyton outside of Ford Field. You know, it’s just we’ve become iconic, and I guess as long as we keep winning, and man, if the Lions go all the way, oh, man,” Daniels said.

Daniels was also working on something between when he conducted the ritual and now. A song about the curse. A song that could be the anthem to this year’s playoff run.

The song is called “The Curse of Bobby Layne” and he even got Manning to contribute to the track too.

“So I did like a minute and a half version of it. And then when I got done, it was so well received that I said, Maybe we should do the full band version, which we did in December. And then I said, I gotta have Peyton on this. And so I texted him, and I said, ‘would you be willing to,’ he goes, ‘absolutely.’ So he was all in,” Daniels said.

The Lions’ turnaround over the last few years is so much more than breaking a curse. It’s about transformation and about pride.

“You can now be proud of not only this team, but your city and your state. People all over the country want to be Lions fans now. For decades, that wasn’t the case. And as somebody who works on the coasts, we are in flyover country. We are in ‘why the hell would you live there country?’ And now people are looking at the Lions, what the Lions are doing and that’s reflecting back on us. I mean, we can be proud of where we’re from, the Midwest, where we grew up, who we are, I think in that sense, that has been broken,” Daniels said.

The entire culture of the franchise has changed with the incoming of head coach Dan Campbell and the direction owner Sheila Ford Hamp has taken the team.

“I talked to Sheila about this. She’s a friend, a great friend of mine. Um, here’s what’s been broken, the culture of losing. And the Lions, no matter how far they go this, this next month, we’re winners. We’re no longer losers. Sheila will tell you, this team is built to last. You know, it’s not one and done, and we lose everybody,” said Daniels.

Daniels doesn’t take the credit for the Lions’ success and said that there were others who were more deserving.

“Detroit Lions’ success is due entirely to ownership, a general manager, a head coach, a coaching staff, the players, Peyton Manning and me in that order,” Daniels said before chuckling.

You can purchase a copy of “The Curse of Bobby Layne” by Jeff Daniels, Peyton Manning and the Ben Daniels Band at JeffDaniels.com.

In a shocking turn of events, Jeff Daniels and Peyton Manning have teamed up to break the long-standing curse that has plagued the Detroit Lions since the departure of legendary quarterback Bobby Layne.

For decades, Lions fans have endured heartbreaking losses and disappointing seasons, all while trying to shake off the infamous curse that Layne allegedly placed on the team after being traded to the Pittsburgh Steelers in 1958. But now, thanks to the combined efforts of Daniels and Manning, it seems that the curse may finally be lifted.

Daniels, a die-hard Lions fan and Michigan native, has long been vocal about his desire to see the team break free from the curse and reclaim their former glory. Manning, a two-time Super Bowl champion and future Hall of Famer, brings his expertise and leadership to the table as they work together to turn the Lions’ fortunes around.

With their powers combined, Daniels and Manning have already seen promising results on the field, with the Lions securing key victories and making a push for the playoffs. It seems that the curse of Bobby Layne may finally be a thing of the past, and Lions fans everywhere are hopeful for a brighter future.

Happy New Year[‘s Eve]! Well, besides the hockey, I mean.

The Islanders are in Toronto for an odd New Year’s Eve afternoon game, a 1 EDT start. If you were unaware of that early start time, congratulations on not having to sit through it.

True, the Islanders did win in Toronto just 10 days ago in their “most complete performance” of the season, etc. But we know what they are, an inconsistent and maddening bunch who can’t string three wins together, and usually can’t even string two.

So they followed that win up with ups and downs like this past weekend’s home-and-home with the Penguins where they won with some sure-handed play at home before being listless for most of the night in Pittsburgh.

Tonight they’re in Toronto, the first of a home-and-home that straddles the New Year, and they can put an end to this, well, pretty boring 2024.

Islanders Gameday News: Curse this year

It seems like the New York Islanders just can’t catch a break this season. From injuries to key players to tough losses in overtime, it feels like a dark cloud has been hanging over the team all year long.

The latest blow came in the form of another heartbreaking loss in their last game, as they fell to their division rival in a close match. The loss dropped them further down in the standings and made their playoff hopes look dimmer than ever.

Fans are starting to wonder if there’s a curse on the team this year, as every time they seem to be gaining momentum, something goes wrong. Whether it’s a questionable call by the referees or a key player getting injured, it’s been one setback after another for the Islanders.

But despite the tough times, the team is staying positive and vowing to turn things around. They know they have the talent and the drive to make a late-season push and secure a spot in the playoffs. It’s just a matter of overcoming the obstacles in their way and finding a way to break the curse that seems to be lingering over them.

So, Islanders fans, don’t lose hope just yet. There’s still time for the team to turn things around and make a run for the playoffs. Keep the faith and cheer them on as they battle through this challenging season. Let’s hope that the curse will be lifted soon and the Islanders can start winning games again.
