No matter what happens in the Week 17 game against the San Francisco 49ers on Monday night, the Detroit Lions will be playing for the NFC North title and No. 1 seed in the conference in Week 18 when they meet the Minnesota Vikings.
That’s because the Vikings knocked off the Green Bay Packers on Sunday, which was all they needed to do to make the Week 18 game against the Lions for all of the marbles.
With that massive Lions-Vikings game on the docket for next Sunday night, Lions head coach Dan Campbell’s wife, Holly, had the perfect social media post about Detroit’s bid to win the NFC North. In the post, she references Game of Thrones and a line from Sansa Stark.
“If we don’t take back the North, we’ll never be safe,” the Instagram post read. “I want you to help me, but I’ll do it myself if I have to.”

The Lions did have an opportunity to secure the NFC North and No. 1 seed in Week 17 with a win over the 49ers and a Vikings loss to the Packers, but Green Bay failed to take care of business, so now it’s all on the Lions.
With nothing to play for, fans are wondering if the Lions will rest their starters on Monday night. It’s an especially hot topic because of how plagued by injuries the Lions have been this season.
However, Campbell made it quite clear he has no intention of doing that when asked last week, which comes as zero surprise if you know anything about him.
“I’ll make this easy for everybody that way all the critics can jump out and start attacking, but that way you don’t have to debate them anymore,” Campbell said.
“We’re bringing everything we got to this game and we are playing, I don’t care what it looks like and where it’s at and who’s this, who’s that. We’re going out to play and win this game, out on the West Coast. So there you go.”
The exact Week 18 schedule was revealed on Sunday night, and it has the Lions and Vikings meeting for a primetime game on “Sunday Night Football” at 8:20 p.m. ET.
