Serena Williams celebrates special bond with father Richard, husband Alexis Ohanian, & daughters Olympia and Adira during fun family outing
Serena Williams recently took a moment to celebrate her special bond with her father Richard, whom she has long credited as the driving force behind her legendary tennis career. The former World No. 1 enjoyed a family day with her father, her husband Alexis Ohanian, and their daughters.
Williams took to social media and shared an endearing clip, beaming as she posed with her father. The 23-time Grand Slam champion’s elder daughter Olympia adorably joined the duo for a sweet snap, with her husband Alexis Ohanian and younger daughter Adira also present during their fun family outing.
“Family bonds,” she captioned her Instagram post.
Serena Williams enjoys a close bond with her father Richard, often crediting him for relentlessly pushing her and her sister Venus Williams during their childhood. However, the 43-year-old has acknowledged that she struggled to give that same motivation to her daughters.
In a 2024 interview with the New York Times, the former World No. 1 confessed that while she would be “devastated” if she didn’t push her daughters as hard as her father had pushed her, she found it difficult to do so because of how young and adorable Olympia and Adira were.
“That’s a really good question. I don’t know. I always look at my dad, and I think, How were you able to do that? Because I’m like, Oh, they’re so cute. I just want them to relax and I don’t want to over-push them. But I would be devastated if I wasn’t pushed, because we wouldn’t be having this interview and there would never have been a Serena Williams,” she said.
“So I feel so fortunate that I had an opportunity to have that extra oomph. But for whatever reason, I’m having a hard time connecting to that extra push, and that’s something I’ve been trying to figure out myself, how to give that extra motivation to my daughters, because it’s definitely worth it, I can confirm from experience,” she added.
Serena Williams on daughter Olympia’s tennis talent: “I already told my dad, ‘Maybe you have to coach her’”

However, the 23-time Grand Slam champion confessed that she was “too nice” to harness her daughter’s talent and disclosed that she had already told her father that he would have to be the one to coach Olympia in tennis.
“The 8-month-old is so tiny, but Olympia is such a bright light, and she’s so athletic, to the point where it’s just not even humanly possible. Even Venus, she was like, “That kid has more talent than you and I combined,” and she’s not lying,” Serena Williams said.
“So I can see how my dad may have seen some potential in us. I’m just trying to figure out a way to harness all that. I already told my dad, “Maybe you have to coach her, because I’m too nice,” she added.
Serena Williams further emphasized that she had immense respect for her parents due to the unwavering commitment they displayed towards her and Venus Williams’ tennis careers from a young age.

Michael Strahan Opens Up About Daughter’s Brain Cancer (Exclusive)
Through his daughter Isabella’s toughest times, after her brain tumor was removed and she was undergoing another round of chemotherapy, Michael Strahan kept looking “to find the silver lining somewhere,” he says, “some light at the end of the tunnel.”
It was early 2024 and Isabella, then 19, was battling medulloblastoma, an aggressive brain cancer. “She wasn’t eating much,” says Michael. “She was thin and tired and bald and all the things you hate to see your kid go through.” Still, he adds, “Her spirit was there. One of the things she said, probably the hardest thing I had to hear was, ‘Dad I’ll do whatever. I want to live.’”
Michael Strahan with his twin daughters, Sophia (left) and Isabella.
“I knew she wouldn’t quit,” says the Good Morning America co-anchor, 53. “She was going to fight — and she did.”
After going through multiple rounds of radiation, grueling chemotherapy and several surgeries, Isabella, now 20, is cancer-free. The Strahan family shares the story of her battle in this week’s PEOPLE, ahead of an upcoming ABC special: Life Interrupted: Isabella Strahan’s Fight Against Cancer, airing Feb. 5 at 10 p.m. and the next day, Feb. 6 on Disney+ and Hulu. As Michael, a Pro Football Hall of Famer, puts it, “I always say she’s a lot stronger than I am.”

Back in the fall of 2023, when Isabella was starting her classes at the University of Southern California, she began experiencing nausea, dizziness and debilitating headaches. She confided in her twin sister, Sophia, then a freshman at Duke University. “I was the one who told our parents (Michael and former wife, Jean Muggli) first,” says Sophia, “because Isabella called and said she was throwing up blood.”
Sophia convinced Isabella to go to the ER, where she was met by her family. (“They dropped everything,” recalls Isabella). Doctors explained she had a fast-growing tumor in her cerebellum, the part of the brain that controls balance and coordination. Says Michael, “They said no need for a second opinion. We should just go in.”

The next day, on Oct. 28, her 19th birthday, Isabella had brain surgery to remove the 4-centimeter tumor. According to Dr. David Ashley, a neuro-oncologist who oversaw her care at Duke Children’s Hospital in North Carolina, “It was somewhere between the size of a golf ball and a tennis ball.”
For the next eight months, Isabella was in and out of the hospital and underwent two follow-up surgeries to clean out an infection around the surgical site and replace part of her skull with a titanium mesh plate. “That was the first time I saw her cry,” recalls Michael.

Her family and friends rallied around her. “My mom would sleep in the hospital with me,” recalls Isabella. Adds her mom, Jean Muggli, “Isabella’s strength and resilience was the same as it was when she was a little girl. The way she handled every day with grace was amazing.”

It was often one step at a time — literally — as Isabella had to relearn to eat, talk and walk, sometimes with Sophia pushing her wheelchair. “She would say to me ‘I just want to feel normal. Nothing in my life is normal,’” recalls Sophia. So that’s what Sophia tried to help her achieve. “Even though,” she adds, “Nothing she went through was a normal experience.”

Isabella documented those experiences in real-time in a series of YouTube vlogs to connect with other cancer survivors, especially people her age. She donated the YouTube proceeds to the Preston Robert Tisch Brain Tumor Center, where she received care at Duke University.
Now back at USC, Isabella is majoring in communications. She’ll continue to have scans every three months for the next two or three years and then every six months to a year after that.
“Her doctors feel very confident, she’s going to be fine,” says Michael. “That’s what we’re going to hold on to, but you’re nervous every time. That will never go away but as long as the results come back positive, then we’ll live to fight another day.”
“Obviously you can’t predict what will happen and that’s a little scary,” Isabella reflects. “But I don’t think you can solely live in fear. I think I should live every day. Take every opportunity. I see the impact that can come from sharing my experience. I want to be a voice.”

“When I was in my deepest depression, there was a moment where I realized I hit rock bottom. I felt so lost and hopeless, and was just doing my best to make it to the next day,” Lola shared on social media, posting photos of her baptism earlier this year.
“I just accepted my life was going to be like that forever, and thought I would never genuinely laugh again. Until, I met not only my Savior but my best friend, Jesus,” she said about her personal struggles and battle with anxiety and depression.

The S.W.A.T star, 54, and Jesiree are already parents to daughter Frankie, who turns two on January 24, and he is also a stepdad to her children Charlie, six, and Kaiden, 18, from previous relationships.
Appearing on The Jennifer Hudson Show on Friday, Shemar admitted that he has no desire to expand their family with another child.
“This is real life, I’m gonna keep it 100. I’m 54 years old, my home, our home is full,” he stated.
“Jesiree has a six-year-old little girl, Charlie, she has an 18-year-old son named Caden – I was raised an only child. I got all the love from my mama, and at 54, honestly, I don’t want to worry twice.”
He explained: “I don’t want to worry twice – God willing I make it to 90, that’s a blessed, full life for me, but that’s 37 years old for [Frankie].”
Shemar admitted that with the time he has left, he just wants to concentrate on giving all his love to his daughter.
He added: “So full life for me but maybe gone too soon for her. So, whatever time I have left, God willing, I just want to give it all to my baby girl.”

Admitting he thought he would never become a father, he added: “I’m so excited. I’m sorry she can’t be here. I was worried for a while that it was a ‘that ship has sailed’ kind of thing but God had my back, and things lined up.”
Frankie had other plans though as she arrived earlier than expected, with Shemar announcing her arrival on January 25 on Instagram, writing: “Ya boy is officially a Dad!!! Dreams come true!! The rest of my life is here!”
A spokesperson for the actor also confirmed the happy news to People, saying: “Shemar Moore and his partner, Jesiree Dizon, are happy to announce the birth of their baby girl.” The rep added: “The family is very happy and healthy.”
Two weeks after his daughter’s birth, the actor took his newborn to visit his mom’s grave, sharing a photo of the family of three posing by a plaque on a lawn, which read: “This house is my son’s home. Mom. 1-26-20.”
Alongside the photos, Shemar wrote: “Shemar, Jesiree, Frankie, and the spirit of Grandma Marilyn…. Mom’s dream was for me to become a father and give momma some grand babies… it took me a minute, but momma’s dream is now reality!!”

Meet Harry Connick Jr.’s ultra-talented daughters
Harry Connick Jr. couldn’t be a prouder dad to his three stunning daughters, whom he shares with his wife, Jill Goodacre.
The loved-up couple first met at a hotel before falling in love and tying the knot in 1994. Jill is a former Victoria’s Secret model, and Harry is known for his dashing good looks, so it’s no surprise they welcomed three genetically blessed children.
Georgia, Kate and Charlotte lead glamorous lives and are constantly hitting career highs, with Georgia starting her own production company, Kate running a fashion line, and Charlotte hitting the big screen. Despite being from a famous family, the girls are still down-to-earth and work hard for their success.
“The main thing for Jill and for me, when they were little, is to raise these smart, incredible women, and I really could care less what they choose [to do in life],” Harry told WHO in 2023.
“They know that the combination of Jill and me is something that has led to a person that’s completely unique, and that’s times three. Obviously, they’re aware of who they are, but they don’t use it.”
The Connick’s are a close family and never fail to support each other, whether in their careers or personal lives. “For me, it’s really like my family is first,” he told the publication.
“I’ve found for my career, for my music or acting or writing, whatever I’m doing… if my family is in order, then everything kind of falls into place. It really is the priority for all five of us.”
“We all have our own things and our own friends and our own careers, but it all comes back to this group of five of us, and it’s just a good feeling.”
Join HELLO! as we discover all about the three ultra-talented Connick girls.
Georgia, 28
Harry’s eldest daughter is following in his footsteps and making a name for herself as a cinematographer and photographer in the entertainment industry.
Born in April 1996 and raised out of the spotlight in Connecticut, Georgia had big dreams and went to study at the Tisch School of the Arts. After creating her own production company, Tatom Project, she masterminded the music video for her dad’s song ‘Amazing Grace’.
“As a father, it was amazing. And as an artist, to collaborate with… someone as brilliant and artistically full of life as Georgia was really awesome,” he told Billboard of his time working with her.
The 28-year-old has has been underestimated due to being a nepo baby, but takes it on the chin and is grateful for her parent’s support.
“It was difficult, I’m not going to lie and say it wasn’t…I think people can have a certain view on you before meeting,” she told WHO.
“But I think my parents have taught us so much – to treat people like they don’t know you at all, so you can give them the best version of yourself, and to treat everyone with respect and just hope that they can see us as we see ourselves.”
Kate, 27
The middle child of the Connick brood is the multi-hyphenate Kate, who has an impressive resume and is also following in her parent’s footsteps.
Kate was born in September 1997 and played lacrosse throughout high school and college until an injury forced her to give it up. She then pivoted to fashion design at NYU and even created her own clothing line, Kate Connick Clothing, in 2019.
“I’m really an entrepreneur at heart. But I love to do so many things,” she explained in an interview with New Canaan Darien + Rowayton. “My parents have been so supportive of everything I do. They push me but also encourage me to stay confident. They’re my guides, my mentors.”
“My mom inspires me so much and she is the reason I went into modeling,“ she continued. “My dad…I can ask him anything, and I go to him for literally everything.” She now lives in Melbourne, Australia, and nabbed a role on the Aussie soap opera Neighbours.
Charlotte, 22
Another budding actress in the family is Charlotte, whom Harry and Jill welcomed in June 2002. She started her career early, appearing alongside her dad in 2011’s Dolphin Tale, and studied performance after high school.
Speaking to WHO about following in her family’s footsteps, Charlotte agreed that the entertainment bug was “definitely in our blood”.

Harry and Jill welcomed their first daughter, Georgia Tatom Connick, on April 17, 1996, and she grew up in a small town in Connecticut, called New Canaan

Harry and Jill welcomed their first daughter, Georgia Tatom Connick, on April 17, 1996.
They tried their best to give their daughters a normal childhood out of the spotlight, raising them in a small town in Connecticut, called New Canaan, about 50 miles from New York City.
They lived in a stunning home – which the couple had purchased in 1998 for $1.5 million and listed for $7.5 million in 2017 – which was converted from a barn originally built in 1890.
The 11,600-square-foot abode sat on 4.6 acres of property and boasted seven bedrooms, 25-foot-high ceilings, a granite fireplace, heated swimming pool with its own pool house, and a gym.
‘We like the fact that it’s a pretty laid-back life here in Connecticut. We can just be home,’ Henry told People back in 2013.
‘There’s no scene. We can just live our lives and not really deal with the industry.’
But Georgia, now 28, has been honest about how it was ‘difficult’ to grow up with her parents in the spotlight.
‘It was difficult, I’m not going to lie and say it wasn’t… I think people can have a certain view on you before meeting,’ she told WHO.
‘But I think my parents have taught us so much – to treat people like they don’t know you at all, so you can give them the best version of yourself, and to treat everyone with respect and just hope that they can see us as we see ourselves.’
After graduating from New Canaan High School in 2015, she headed to Tulane University for college.
After a year, she transferred to New York University, where she studied photography and filmmaking at the Tisch School Of The Arts.
In August 2015, it was reported that Georgia had been arrested and charged with permitting minors to possess alcohol and procuring alcohol for minors after she hosted a party inside the family’s New Canaan home while her parents were away.

‘I discovered photography at a young age and knew I had a passion when I spent all of my free time on the computer editing what I had captured earlier that day.
‘I have developed a dense portfolio over the years filled with travel, architecture, fashion, nature, and really anything that catches my eye.’
