Ahead of 2025 debut, Scottie Scheffler details how he hurt hand in ‘stupid’ kitchen accident making ravioli
PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. — Scottie Scheffler was attempting to make homemade ravioli on Christmas Day — with limited equipment in a rental home — when he realized he’d made a serious mistake. He decided to use an empty wine glass to shape and slice his pasta dough.
“I had my hand on top of it and it broke, which, side note, I’ve heard nothing but horror stories since this happened about wine glasses, so be careful,” Scheffler said Tuesday. “Even if you’re like me and you don’t drink wine, you’ve got to be real careful with wine glasses.”
The stem of a wine glass stabbed Scheffler in the upper palm of his right hand. That’s the crux of the incident that led to a surgical procedure and took the 2024 PGA Tour Player of the Year out of his first two tournaments of the season, The Sentry in Maui and the American Express in Palm Springs.
The No. 1 player in the world is making his first tournament start of 2025 this week at the Pebble Beach Pro-Am, which begins on Thursday. It comes after a two-week long hiatus from golf and physical activity, as well as a steady process of easing back into training and playing. That period was frustrating for a player who thrives in competition. Scheffler doesn’t like to sit back and watch.
“It’s one of those deals where immediately after it happened, I was mad at myself because I was like gosh, that’s so stupid, but you just don’t think about it when you’re in the moment,” he continued. “Yeah, definitely been a little more careful doing stuff at home.”
Immediately after the incident, a friend of Scheffler’s who happens to be a surgeon came to the rescue and helped stop the bleeding. The next day rolled around and the wound was no longer open, but the pain remained, and Scheffler felt a general lack of range of motion. He decided to reach out to a hand doctor he’d worked with on a thumb injury while in college. They opted for surgery. Scheffler said that he does not expect his right hand to incur any long-term damage.
Scheffler spent his recovery time reflecting and analyzing an historic season that included seven wins on the PGA Tour — the most since Tiger Woods won seven in 2007 — plus an Olympic gold medal and the Hero World Challenge. He re-watched film of his tournament rounds and took his mind back to those cruise-control moments in competition, taking note of both his swing positions and demeanor.
“There’s a few tournaments I looked back at where the thing that stuck out the most was that I never really overreacted to stuff, I kind of stayed in it and kind of waited for my moment to get hot,” Scheffler said.

Scottie Scheffler, a rising star in the world of golf, recently shared a hilarious yet unfortunate story about how he injured his hand ahead of his anticipated debut in 2025. The 25-year-old golfer revealed that he hurt his hand in a “stupid” kitchen accident while attempting to make ravioli. In a recent interview, Scheffler recounted how he was trying to impress his family by making homemade ravioli from scratch. However, things took a turn for the worse when he accidentally sliced his hand with a sharp knife while cutting the pasta dough.
Despite the mishap, Scheffler maintained a positive attitude and joked about the incident, saying, “I guess you could say my cooking skills are still a work in progress.” He assured fans that the injury was minor and would not affect his performance on the golf course.
Scheffler is currently ranked among the top golfers in the world and is expected to make a big impact in the upcoming season. His sense of humor and humility in sharing this kitchen mishap only endear him more to fans, who are eagerly anticipating his debut in 2025.
Stay tuned for more updates on Scottie Scheffler’s journey to success in the world of professional golf. And maybe, just maybe, some cooking lessons in the future.

#Ahead #debut #Scottie #Scheffler #details #hurt #hand #stupid #kitchen #accident #making #ravioliSri Lanka vs Australia live: Josh Inglis scores century on debut following Usman Khawaja’s double on day two of first Test
144th over – Australia’s innings continues after tea
Looks like there’s no declaration just yet from Steve Smith.
Jeffrey Vandersay to start things off. Alex Carey on strike.
Will Australia enforce the follow-on?
If Australia is planning on enforcing the follow on with this massive total, I’m down for that.
– Doc
Hi Doc,
That certainly appears to be the plan at this stage.
Of course, whether Australia is able to enforce the follow-on is entirely contingent on Sri Lanka’s first-innings batting performance.
Live from the Antarctic
Following languidly from the Antarctic Ocean. Any reason not to be bored by this one?
– Cold Mick
Hi Mick,
Hope you’re keeping warm down there.
I reckon jumping into the Antarctic Ocean would definitely be more of a thrill than watching this.
The last time Australia scored over 600
When was the last time we (Australia) scored 600 in a test innings? Feels like it was at least 5 years ago.
– Chloe
Hi Chloe,
This innings is Australia’s first 600+ score since January 4, 2018, when they scored 7-649 declared against England at the SCG.
Australia’s highest ever Test score is 8-758 declared, which was scored against the West Indies in 1955.
TEA: Australia 5-600 (Carey 25, Webster 10)
(Getty) Well, look, I mean, Sri Lanka got Usman Khawaja and Josh Inglis out. So, probably the best session for the hosts since the first on day one.
Australia is just grinding the fielders and bowlers down. This has all the hallmarks of a ‘bat once’ victory, but the prospect of bowling back-to-back in this heat isn’t ideal.
Still, it might be the only chance we have of seeing a result in the game. And it might be a little easier with mostly spinners in the line-up.
But, before we get to that, we have to see the approach from the batters after tea. I’m expecting, and hoping for, an aggressive approach from Carey and Webster after a watchful start.
143rd over – Australia brings up 600
Australia is 5-599 as Prabath Jayasuriya starts his 60th over.
And there’s 600 for the Aussies as Alex Carey gets another single with another reverse sweep.
It’s the first time since 2018 that Australia has reached this mark.
Galle’s good looking, hey?
(Getty) 142nd over – Jeffrey Vandersay returns for his 33rd over
And he sprays one down leg. Oshada Fernando sprints to the rope from short leg and the ball dies just before reaching the boundary.
Fernando actually stepped on the boundary before picking it up, but got his foot back in the field of play before touching the ball.
Too much width and Beau Webster slashes away for a couple more wide of cover.
141st over – Jayasuriya continues because Sri Lanka refuses to use a fifth bowler
Alex Carey reverse sweeps and gets back for a sharp two.
Webster tries a lap sweep and it’s very awkward. Almost LBW.
Sri Lanka doesn’t even have the energy for a pointless appeal anymore.
140th over – No urgency from the Aussies
Another nudge to long-off for a single from Carey. And Webster skips down and clips Nishan to mid-wicket for one more.
This doesn’t feel like declaration batting. But there are 13 minutes to tea. We might see more aggression after the break.
139th over – Prabath Jayasuriya gets some fielders around the bat
Beau Webster is just looking to nudge the ball.
A little extra bounce almost does for Webster, but he’s playing with soft hands and the ball just trickles away.
138th over – The wait goes on for Nishan Peiris’s first wicket in the innings
The big long levers get Beau Webster a single to the man in the deep with a sweep shot.
Webster gets some width and pushes into the deep for two more.
Nothing overly probing from Nishan in his 38th offering.
137th over – Jayasuriya comes in for his 57th over
Carey tries to force the issue with a little shuffle down the wicket, but he can only get a thick edge away behind point.
Carey gets off strike with a single off a reverse sweep.
It’s another tight, if uninspiring over.
136th over – Nishan Peiris bowling to Beau Webster
The big Slug pushes at a wide one and misses everything. A lot of drift away for Nishan, still hunting his first wicket of this innings.
Webster eventually manages to lay bat on it to take a single to point.
This game will, I assume, accelerate after tea. But things are meandering a little now.
135th over – Jayasuriya hunting a five-fa
Alex Carey is getting them all with sweeps and reverse sweeps.
Webster clatters a drive into Oshada Fernando. It’s whacked him in the arms.
After a lengthy delay, Jayasuriya wraps up with another ball outside off.
134th over – Nishan Peiris bowling with Beau Webster out in the middle
Nishan thinks he has found Carey’s outside edge, but no-one behind the stumps is there with him.
Carey punches down the ground for one more. Still a very spread field despite having two new batters at the crease. In saying that, the score is up over 570.
Josh Inglis is gone for 102
(Getty) The debutant closed the face of the bat on one, and the next ball he shuffles, closes the face again as he tries to work to the leg side and chips a catch straight to Kamindu Mendia at short cover.
Another fine innings ends apparently with just a little dip in concentration.
Credit to Prabath Jayasuriya for continuing to toil at the end of his 55th over.
133rd over – Australia’s newest century-maker faces Prabath Jayasuriya
This pair is happily knocking singles around.
Carey’s almost top-edged a reverse sleep to leg slip.
There doesn’t seem to be any direction to put the pedal down. Maybe there will be after tea.
A century on debut for Josh Inglis!
(Getty) The 29-year-old carves through the covers for a few more and leaps in the air to celebrate this momentous feat.
There’s tears in the stands for mum and dad as Inglis becomes the first Australian man since Adam Voges in 2015 to score a century on Test debut, and just the third in history to do it in Asia.
Not only that, but Inglis has has done it at better than a run a ball, reaching three figures off just 91 deliveries.
In a thrilling match-up between Sri Lanka and Australia, day two of the first Test saw some incredible performances from the Australian team. Opening batsman Usman Khawaja set the tone with a brilliant double century, showcasing his class and experience at the highest level. But the real star of the day was debutant Josh Inglis, who announced his arrival on the international stage with a stunning century. Inglis showed great composure and skill as he guided the Australian innings with his aggressive stroke-play and impeccable timing.
The partnership between Khawaja and Inglis turned the tide in Australia’s favor, as they piled on the runs and put Sri Lanka under immense pressure. The Sri Lankan bowlers tried their best to contain the Australian batsmen, but Khawaja and Inglis were simply unstoppable.
As the day ended, Australia had posted a mammoth total on the board, thanks to the heroics of Khawaja and Inglis. The Sri Lankan team now faces an uphill task to come back into the game, but with the form that the Australian batsmen are in, it will be a tough challenge.
Stay tuned for more updates as the match progresses, as Sri Lanka looks to fight back against the mighty Australian team. #SriLankavsAustralia #Cricket #TestMatch #JoshInglis #UsmanKhawaja #DebutCentury

#Heidi #Klum #Proud #Mom #Teen #Son #Henry #Footsteps #Runway #DebutCBS Evening News Unveils Its New Two-Anchor Format — How’d They Do in Their Debut?
Generate Key TakeawaysThe CBS Evening News is figuring two heads are better than one.
The Eye Network’s long-running national newscast shook up its format on Monday, introducing not one but two new anchors, with John Dickerson and Maurice DuBois each taking a seat behind the desk. It was mostly business as usual, as Dickerson and DuBois got right to work highlighting stories about artificial intelligence, the ongoing conflict in the Middle East and the L.A. wildfires. But the two joined forces at the end for an emotional editorial highlighting the bravery of firefighters across the country, with DuBois lauding their willingness “to lay down their lives for neighbors they’ve never met. There is no greater love.”
More from TVLine
Dickerson and DuBois were first announced as the two new anchors of the CBS Evening News in August, taking over for Norah O’Donnell, who exited the anchor’s chair earlier this month after a five-year run. Production also moved back to New York City after O’Donnell’s stint in Washington, D.C. The switch marks the first time CBS has tried two Evening News anchors since 1995, when Connie Chung ended a two-year run as co-anchor alongside Dan Rather.
O’Donnell will move into an expanded role as a CBS News senior correspondent, focusing on long-form reporting and interviews across CBS News platforms. She said goodbye to CBS Evening News last Thursday, with Oprah Winfrey popping in to congratulate O’Donnell on her tenure and narrate a highlight reel featuring interviews with everyone from Pope Francis to Dolly Parton.

CBS Evening News made a major change this week by introducing a new two-anchor format, featuring Norah O’Donnell and John Dickerson. The decision to have two anchors leading the broadcast is a departure from the traditional solo anchor format that has been the norm for decades. The debut of the new format was met with mixed reviews from viewers and critics. Some praised the chemistry between O’Donnell and Dickerson, noting that their dynamic brought a fresh energy to the broadcast. Others, however, felt that the two-anchor setup was a bit awkward and caused the show to feel disjointed at times.
One of the main criticisms of the new format was that it seemed to lack a clear division of labor between the two anchors. Some viewers felt that O’Donnell and Dickerson were stepping on each other’s toes and struggling to find their rhythm together.
Despite the mixed reviews, CBS Evening News with Norah O’Donnell and John Dickerson did manage to hold its own in the ratings on its debut night. It will be interesting to see how the new format evolves over time and whether the network will stick with the two-anchor setup or revert back to a solo anchor in the future.

Trump’s ‘Gen Z’ press secretary to make White House podium debut
She’s the face of a Trump-supporting Gen Z movement and the youngest White House press secretary in history. Now Karoline Leavitt is stepping up to the podium for the first time.
The 27-year-old is already a polished presence, with her social media profile mixing shots of life as a young working mother with clips of her on Fox News going after the “fake news” media.
But it has taken more than a week into Donald Trump’s second term for Leavitt to make her debut before the press in the James S. Brady briefing room at the White House.
It reflects the difficulties that Trump’s spokespeople face to emerge out of the shadow of their limelight-loving boss, with the president already having had several long interactions with the media since returning to power.
“See you at the podium!” Leavitt said on X ahead of the briefing.
Trump said when he appointed her shortly after his election win in November that Leavitt was “smart, tough” and would “excel at the podium.”
– ‘Wonder woman’ –
Leavitt is nothing if not a Trump loyalist.
Raised in New Hampshire, where her family ran an ice cream shop, she sent a letter to her university newspaper in 2017 to protest against the fact that a professor had criticized Trump in class.
Eight years later she has had a meteoric rise through the ranks of Trumpworld, thanks partly to her aggressive defense of her 78-year-old boss on the airwaves.
A veteran of the press office in his first term, she unsuccessfully ran for a seat in Congress in New Hampshire in 2022 on a pro-Trump, pro-gun ownership platform.
An Instagram post at the time showed her firing a machinegun on a range with the caption: “@joebiden come and take it.”
Then her steely appearances on television as Trump’s 2024 campaign spokeswoman earned her the job as press secretary.
In one notable exchange, a CNN interviewer cut Leavitt off after she criticized the network’s moderators chosen to oversee a debate between Trump and then-president Joe Biden.
Her loyalty was such that she returned to work four days after the birth of her first child when Trump survived an assassination attempt at a political rally last June.
“I looked at my husband and said, ‘Looks like I’m going back to work,” Leavitt told The Conservateur magazine in an article titled “Wonder Woman.”
– Sparring –
The White House briefing room will be a different experience, with its rough-and-tumble sparring with journalists.
Since Trump returned to power, she has so far only had a brief encounter with reporters on the driveway outside the West Wing, followed by a single “gaggle” on Air Force One as Trump traveled to California.
Her television appearances have almost exclusively been reserved for Fox News and the conservative Newsmax channel.
But she has still caused a stir, with conservative commentator Mary Rooke posting a picture of her driveway appearance with two similarly coiffed aides and saying: “We are finally entering our Blonde Supremacy era.”
As she steps up to the podium on Tuesday, Leavitt will be seeking to avoid the fate of Trump’s previous spokespeople.
His first, Sean Spicer, was widely ridiculed after falsely insisting during his first briefing that the crowd for Trump’s 2017 inauguration was the largest history.
Three other spokespeople followed during the first term with one of them, Stephanie Grisham, failing to make a single appearance at the podium.

Trump’s ‘Gen Z’ press secretary to make White House podium debutThe White House is about to get a whole lot more youthful with the introduction of President Trump’s newest press secretary, who just so happens to be a member of Generation Z. This fresh-faced and tech-savvy individual is set to make their debut at the White House podium, bringing a new perspective and energy to the administration’s communication team.
As the first member of Gen Z to hold such a prominent role in the White House, all eyes will be on this young press secretary as they navigate the fast-paced world of media relations and public communication. With their finger on the pulse of social media trends and a deep understanding of the digital landscape, this individual is poised to revolutionize the way the White House interacts with the public.
Stay tuned for this exciting debut, as the ‘Gen Z’ press secretary takes to the podium and ushers in a new era of communication at the highest levels of government. It’s sure to be an event that will not only make headlines but also capture the attention of a whole new generation of Americans.

Karoline Leavitt, youngest White House press secretary, to make briefing room debut
White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt will make her debut at the first press briefing of President Donald Trump’s second term on Tuesday, making history as the youngest in her role to stand behind the podium.
“I look forward to taking the podium into answering questions from all of the voices in the media. They are welcome to cover this White House. We will give them honest and accurate information, and I look forward to doing that,” Leavitt said in an interview with Newsmax on Thursday.
When Leavitt, 27, walks out into the James S. Brady Press Briefing Room on Tuesday, she’ll be the youngest press secretary to do so, since Ronald Ziegler, who held the title in former President Ronald Reagan’s White House at age 29.

She’s said she would ditch the traditional notes binder that her predecessors in both Democratic and Republican administrations, including during Trump’s first term, would carry with them to press briefings.
“I might bring some notes with me, but my binder is in my brain because I know President Trump’s policies, and we have truth on our side at this White House,” she said on “Fox and Friends” the morning after Trump’s inauguration.

Leavitt most recently served as Trump’s spokesperson during his 2024 presidential campaign and his transition and previously worked in his first administration and for GOP Rep. Elise Stefanik, whom Trump has since named U.S. ambassador to the U.N.
“Karoline is smart, tough, and has proven to be a highly effective communicator,” Trump said in a November statement naming Leavitt press secretary. “I have the utmost confidence she will excel at the podium, and help deliver our message to the American People as we, Make America Great Again.”

Leavitt has not committed to daily briefings, which grew heated during the first Trump term, with a revolving door of press secretaries, including Sean Spicer, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, and Kayleigh McEnany, going back and forth with reporters. Stephanie Grisham did not hold a press briefing in the nine months she was press secretary.
“We hope there will be decorum, certainly, and we will try to instill that. But we’re not we’re not shy of the hostile media,” Leavitt said on Fox News in November.
Before joining Trump’s campaign in 2023, Leavitt ran for Congress in a competitive district in her home state of New Hampshire, winning a competitive Republican primary that included fellow Trump administration alum Matt Mowers. Leavitt went on to lose the general election to Democratic Rep. Chris Pappas by nine points.

And at the start of the new Trump administration, Leavitt, in a flurry of new Federal Election Commission filings, revealed she accumulated more than $210,115 in donations that she not only failed to refund to her supporters for at least two years but also did not disclose the failure as required under federal election law.
Despite making history as America’s youngest press secretary, and vowing to buck some traditions, she joins the streak of moms serving as the U.S. president’s chief spokesperson, following Sanders, Grisham, McEnany, and President Joe Biden’s aides Jen Psaki and Karine Jean-Pierre.
“I wish her the best of luck. This is a great job, an amazing opportunity to be standing at this podium, behind this lectern, to go back and forth with all of you and– and speak on behalf of this president, the president of the United States,” Jean-Pierre said of Leavitt earlier this month during her last briefing. “There’s nothing like it. And, and I hope she enjoys the job.”

WASHINGTON (AP) — Karoline Leavitt, the youngest person to serve as White House press secretary, will make her debut in the briefing room on Tuesday.
Her first briefing is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET.
The James S. Brady Press Briefing Room was the site of clashes between spokespeople and journalists during President Donald Trump’s first term. Trump, a Republican, also made frequent appearances there himself during the coronavirus outbreak.
It’s unclear how often Leavitt, 27, plans to hold briefings. Trump had four press secretaries during his first administration, Sean Spicer, Sarah Huckabee Sanders, Stephanie Grisham and Kayleigh McEnany, and Grisham never held a briefing, while the others were more frequent presences behind the podium.
Leavitt was a spokesperson for Trump’s campaign and transition, and he said she did “a phenomenal job” when he announced in November that she’d be his White House press secretary.
“Karoline is smart, tough, and has proven to be a highly effective communicator,” he said then in a statement. “I have the utmost confidence she will excel at the podium, and help deliver our message to the American People as we Make America Great Again.”
Previously, the youngest press secretary was Ronald Ziegler, who was 29 when he took the position in 1969 in Richard Nixon’s administration.
Grisham was arguably the nation’s least visible press secretary in modern history, not holding a press briefing during nine months on the job. While she made occasional appearances on the Fox News Channel, she preferred to tape her interviews in a studio to avoid having to speak to reporters who gather on the White House driveway to interview officials after they appear on TV via cameras set up outside the executive mansion.
The White House press secretary typically serves as the public face of the administration and historically has held daily briefings for the press corps.
Trump disrupted those norms in his first term, preferring to serve as his own chief spokesperson. While he was president from 2017 to 2021, he frequently preferred to engage directly with the public, from his rallies, social media posts and his own briefings.
At a news conference this past August, Trump was asked if he’d have regular press briefings in his new administration. He told reporters, “I will give you total access, and you’ll have a lot of press briefings, and you’ll have, uh, from me.”
When it came to a press secretary, he said: “Probably they’ll do something. If it’s not daily, it’s going to be a lot. You’ll have more than you want.”
Karoline Leavitt, the youngest White House press secretary in history, is set to make her highly anticipated debut in the briefing room. At just 27 years old, Leavitt brings a fresh perspective and a background in journalism that will undoubtedly shake up the traditional dynamics of the press room. With a reputation for being articulate, poised, and well-informed, Leavitt is expected to handle the tough questions from the press corps with finesse and confidence. Her youth and experience in the fast-paced world of media will no doubt bring a new energy to the White House communications team.
As she steps into this prestigious role, all eyes will be on Leavitt as she navigates the complexities of the job and works to effectively communicate the administration’s message to the American people. Stay tuned for her first official briefing, where she is sure to make a lasting impression on all who watch.
