ForbesToday’s ‘Wordle’ #1287 Hints, Clues And Answer For Friday, December 27th

Well it’s the last lazy Sunday of 2024 and I am all for making good use of it. Order takeout. Watch one of the new shows or movies that are out this weekend. Give into your laziness and skip out on the chores. It’s still the holiday season, after all. All the tasks can wait until Monday. Then it’s all preparation for New Year’s Eve and whatever fun festivities you have planned.

And, of course, we have a Wordle to solve. Let’s solve it!

How To Solve Today’s Wordle

The Hint: Music.

The Clue: This Wordle has a double letter.

Okay, spoilers below!

The Answer:

Wordle Analysis

Every day I check Wordle Bot to help analyze my guessing game. You can check your Wordles with Wordle Bot right here.

PLANE is normally a pretty good starting guess, but today it let me down. With 200 remaining possible solutions and one meager yellow box, I had many words to cut. I’m not sure if TAROT was the best choice, but it did slash that number down to just 5, and secured a green box and a second vowel. MACHO removed every possible solution but one: MAMBO for the win!

Competitive Wordle Score

A total wash today. 0 points for guessing in four and 0 for tying the Bot. Zeroes all around.

How To Play Competitive Wordle

  • Guessing in 1 is worth 3 points; guessing in 2 is worth 2 points; guessing in 3 is worth 1 point; guessing in 4 is worth 0 points; guessing in 5 is -1 points; guessing in 6 is -2 points and missing the Wordle is -3 points.
  • If you beat your opponent you get 1 point. If you tie, you get 0 points. And if you lose to your opponent, you get -1 point. Add it up to get your score. Keep a daily running score or just play for a new score each day.
  • Fridays are 2XP, meaning you double your points—positive or negative.
  • You can keep a running tally or just play day-by-day. Enjoy!

Today’s Wordle Etymology

The word “mambo” originates from the Kikongo language of Central Africa, where “mambo” means “conversation” or “word.” It was brought to the Caribbean through the African diaspora, blending into Afro-Cuban culture. In Cuban music, mambo evolved to describe a musical style and dance that emerged in the 1940s, characterized by syncopated rhythms and energetic movements.

The rare ‘black moon’ of December 30 rises next week

December 2024 will see a rare “black moon,” a term for the second new moon in a calendar month.

The second new moon of December will occur at 5:27 p.m. ET (2227 GMT) on Dec. 30, according to the U.S. Naval Observatory, two days after the waning moon passes by Mercury in the predawn sky.

Get ready to witness a celestial spectacle as the rare ‘black moon’ is set to rise on December 30th next week. This phenomenon occurs when there are two new moons in a calendar month, making the second one a ‘black moon’. Unlike the popular ‘blue moon’, which is the second full moon in a month, the ‘black moon’ is a new moon that appears completely dark in the sky.

This cosmic event is a perfect opportunity for stargazers and astronomy enthusiasts to observe the night sky in all its mysterious glory. So mark your calendars and don’t miss out on this rare and enchanting sight on December 30th. Let’s embrace the beauty and wonder of the universe as we witness the rise of the elusive ‘black moon’. #blackmoon #celestialwonders #astronomy #stargazing

Community Guidelines

Welcome to Denver Stiffs! We’re glad you’re here.

Denver Stiffs is a community where sports fans from all backgrounds gather to share their passion. We strive to create a fun and welcoming place for everyone to come fan with us. These guidelines help ensure that happens. Here’s the short version:

  • Be respectful in your interactions with contributors and fellow fans.
  • Don’t be a jerk, and don’t call other people jerks.
  • We’ll remove anything we see that jeopardizes our communities.
  • We ask that you do your best to keep the conversation to sports and primarily our favorite NBA team. Why? Because there are plenty of other sites where you can air your opinions about everything from politics to soup recipes.
  • You can help with that. If you see something that doesn’t align with our guidelines, let us know. Flag any comments or usernames that violate our guidelines so our community managers can review them.

These rules extend to our communities everywhere: in our comments, on social media, and in real life.

We do not allow any of the following:

  • Personal attacks: This includes name-calling, insults, threats, hurtful comments about someone’s appearance, voice, or style, and all other forms of attacks. We want our communities to be welcoming and fun. Personal attacks are the opposite of that.
  • Attacks on staffers: It’s fine to critique a post, disagree with a take, or point out errors. We draw the line, however, at personal attacks (see above) about writers, editors, moderators, etc.
  • Discriminatory or derogatory language: This includes racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, ableism, or other forms of discrimination.
  • Harassment: This includes, but is not limited to, intimidation; stalking; unwanted photography; inappropriate physical contact; use of sexual or discriminatory imagery, comments, or jokes; and unwelcome sexual attention.
  • Wishing harm on athletes: Don’t root for an injury, don’t root for harm to befall a coach or athlete. You can want someone to get fired or released, but please do not hope for bodily harm.
  • Misinformation and disinformation: Sharing demonstrably false information about news or world events, beyond the scope of reasonable sports opinion or analysis, can be harmful to our communities. These comments will be removed and may result in a suspension or a ban.
  • Illegal activity: Don’t promote, encourage, or make light of any kind of illegal activity, including DUIs, domestic violence, or sexual assault.
  • NSFW images and comments: Keep it PG-13, or you will be removed. This includes language and images that are sexual, violent, or generally offensive in nature.
  • Excessive profanity: Fans get worked up on game days, and we’re fans, too. We understand that. As a general rule, keep profanity to a minimum. Some communities prohibit profanity, so be sure to review guidelines for the individual communities you participate in.
  • Multiple accounts and throwaway emails: These are a signal that you’re not interested in being a productive member of our communities, and we do not allow it.
  • Trolling: We know it when we see it, and we’ll remove it. Don’t go to a rival team’s community for the sole purpose of riling up their fans, either. Moreover, you should never publish any private or personally identifiable information. Doxxing is strictly prohibited.
  • The “first post” rule: If you break any of these guidelines with your very first post or interaction, it signals to our community managers you’re just here to be disruptive. Violators may be banned, blocked, or removed.
  • Spam: We have a zero-tolerance policy on spam, which includes sharing links to illegal game streams or downloads. Spam will be deleted and spammers may be banned, blocked, or removed.
  • Political commentary: Denver Stiffs is a site dedicated to the Denver Nuggets, not politics. There are many sites available on the internet to discuss politics, Denver Stiffs is not one of them. Please refrain from any political commentary while using our site.

Anyone who doesn’t follow these rules when engaging in our communities will at best be removed from the conversation, and at worst will end up banned from that community. These decisions will be made at the discretion of our community managers and other Mile High Sports personnel. Community managers and moderators have final say on interpretation of violating our community guidelines, and on all decisions resulting in a warning, suspension, and/or ban.

If you see any of these things happening in our communities, please flag it and it will be reviewed. You can also reach out via our contact page.

The first part of Saturday Night Live‘s milestone fiftieth season has been full of nonstop laughs. How to Watch

Watch Saturday Night Live Saturdays at 11:30/10:30c on NBC and Peacock, streaming next day on Peacock.

There have been so many memorable moments since Season 50’s September premiere, not to mention the incredible lineup of Hosts and Musical Guests.

Is Saturday Night Live new tonight, December 28, 2024?

Grande returned to host SNL for the second time in this episode. The pop singer and Wicked star made her hosting debut on March 12, 2016 when she pulled double duty as the episode’s musical Musical Guest. She was most recently a Musical Guest in Josh Brolin’s Season 49 episode.

Grande’s knack for spot-on celebrity impressions was on full display in the “Maybelline” sketch, in which she impersonated Jennifer Coolidge with Chloe Fineman, and her “Celine Dion Sports Promo” parody.

The episode also introduced Marcello Hernández’s now-viral character Domingo in the hilariously awkward “Bridesmaid Speech” sketch, featuring a bachelorette party cheating scandal and alternate lyrics to Sabrina Carpenter’s “Espresso.”

As for Nicks, just over four decades after her last performance on SNL in 1983, she returned as the episode’s Musical Guest. The Grammy-winning artist performed her 1981 classic “Edge of Seventeen” and her 2024 song “The Lighthouse.” She also sang a bit of Fleetwood Mac’s “Landslide” in a promo with Grande and Bowen Yang

When does SNL come back?

SNL returns in January 2025 with fresh Season 50 episodes. The first month of the year also kicks off a series of exciting events to celebrate the show’s 50th anniversary.

In 2025, SNL will mark five decades on television with multiple documentaries and a live primetime special.

First up is SNL50: Beyond Saturday Night, a four-part docuseries looking at the history of NBC’s long-running sketch comedy show and the components that go into creating SNL, including unseen audition footage and a deep dive into Will Ferrell’s “More Cowbell” sketch.

All four episodes of SNL 50: Beyond Saturday Night premiere on January 16, 2025 on Peacock.

Ahmir “Questlove” Thompson will also co-direct a new NBC music documentary, Ladies & Gentleman … 50 Years of SNL Music. The film features interviews with dozens of musicians who’ve performed on the show as well as current and former SNL writers, cast, and crew.

Ladies & Gentleman … 50 Years of SNL Music, a three-hour event, premieres Monday, January 27, on NBC at 8 p.m. ET/PT and will be available to stream the next day on Peacock

Game Preview: Knicks at Wizards, December 28, 2024

The New York Knicks (21-10) are aiming to notch a seventh consecutive victory as they face off against the Washington Wizards (5-23) in D.C. tonight.

When they last faced off, on November 18, the ‘Bockers scored 40 in the first quarter, Cameron Payne laced five triples, and the ‘Zards wuz crushed, 134 to 106. More of the same should be expected this evening, but New York won an ugly game in Orlando last night and fatigue could play a role in tonight’s festivities.

The Wizards are without several key players: Saddiq Bey and Marvin Bagley III are sidelined due to knee injuries, and Kyle Kuzma is out with injured ribs. Their top guy, Jordan Poole, averaging 21.3 points, five assists, and 1.6 steals per game, is listed as day-to-day with a hip issue.

Tonight’s starting five for the Wizards is likely to include Poole (if available), shooting guard Bub Carrington, forwards Justin Champagnie and Bilal Coulibaly, and rookie Alexandre Sarr. They come into this game with a 3-7 record in their last 10 games, struggling on both ends of the court with an average score of 106.7 points while allowing 119.4 points. On Thursday, they edged out the Charlotte Hornets in the Clash of the Cellar Dwellers. Still, it’s hard to believe they can compete for 48 minutes against a thriving Knicks team that rates second for offense, 13th for defence, averages 117 PPG, and has eight of their last ten.
