Inter Milan Coach Sends Clear Message: “Next Two Months Decisive, We’re Used To Pressure, Zielinski & Frattesi Will Help Us”

Simone Inzaghi feels that Inter Milan are used to dealing with pressure, and that midfielder Piotr Zielinski and Davide Frattesi will help the team.

The Nerazzurri coach spoke to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, via FCInterNews, ahead of today’s Serie A match against Lecce. He also anticipated the next couple months will be “decisive.”

Inter take on Lecce in Serie A this evening.

But this evening’s match is only one of many worries for the Nerazzurri.

On Wednesday, Inter face Monaco in the Champions League.

That match will be the Nerazzurri’s last one in the “league phase” of the competition. It could be decisive for qualifying directly for the round of sixteen.

Then, next weekend, Inter take on city rivals AC Milan in the second league derby of the season.

The Rossoneri have already beaten Inter twice this season, in Serie A and in the Supercoppa Italiana. So there will be a real desire for revenge.

And then there is the matter of the title race against Napoli. The Partenopei have won crunch clashes with Atalanta and Juventus recently – making clear the scale of Inter’s task keeping up at the top.

Inzaghi: “Inter Used To Dealing With Pressure, Zielinski & Frattesi Will Help The Team”

Of this evening’s match against Lecce, Inzaghi said that “We know we’re up against a team in good form.”

“In their last six home matches, Lazio are the only team they’ve lost to. And that was in the last few minutes.”

“We’ve prepare for it at our best,” the Inter coach said.

And Inzaghi also gave his thoughts on midfielders Davide Frattesi and Piotr Zielinski. Both start this evening.

“We know them,” he said. “They both played in the closing stages of Wednesday’s match.”

“They showed that they want to be there at all costs,” the Inter coach said.

And of the pressure of the title race, Inzaghi made insisted that “We’ve been doing this for many years now.”

“Last season there was Juventus,” he added. “We’re used to it.”

“They’re all doing a great job,” Inzaghi said of Inter’s title rivals. “As with us.”

“We know that February and March will be the decisive months for everything.”

  • Dan Campbell’s wife references Game of Thrones as Lions prepare for decisive Week 18 clash against Minnesota

Dan Campbell’s wife references Game of Thrones as Lions prepare for decisive Week 18 clash against Minnesota

As Minnesota secured a narrow 27-25 victory over Green Bay Sunday evening, the stakes for
Week 18’s thrilling showdown between the Vikings and Detroit grew even further, with the
winner laying claim to not just the NFC North but the entire conference as well.

Detroit coach Dan Campbell’s family seems to be approaching this fateful divisional matchup
with the theatrical reverence it deserves, likening the Lions’ defense of Ford Field to the beloved
    HBO drama “Game of Thrones.”

Campbell’s wife, Holly, posted an image of GOT character Sansa Stark with the following quote
overlayed: “If we don’t take back the North, we’ll never be safe. I want you to help me, but I’ll do
it myself if I have to.”

The Lions currently reign as defending champions of the “North,” winning their first divisional title in three decades last season thanks to a stunning revival of the long-suffering franchise led by Campbell. Returning much of their young core, the Lions entered the 2024-25 season as favorites to repeat their success in the NFC North, but Minnesota has since emerged from the opposite end of the preseason spectrum and matched Detroit’s 13-2 record entering the
    penultimate week.

Minnesota was the first of the two teams to play this weekend, surging to an early lead against
another divisional rival in Green Bay and carrying a 27-10 edge into the midway point of the
fourth quarter. Jordan Love promptly led the Packers on consecutive touchdown drives,
narrowing the deficit to 27-25 by the two-minute warning, but Minnesota ultimately held on and
improved to 14-2 on the season, also eliminating Philadelphia from contention for the No. 1
    overall seed.

Detroit, meanwhile, will face off against San Francisco on Monday night. However, because the Lions beat Minnesota earlier in the season, they will win the NFC North with a victory over Minnesota almost regardless of their result in Monday’s game — beating San Francisco would allow Detroit to advance in the case of a tie against the Vikings.

Campbell and company will kick off in San Francisco at 8:15 p.m. ET Monday night before heading home to face the Vikings on short rest. The Week 18 matchup between Detroit and Minnesota will broadcast on NBC at 8:15 p.m. ET Sunday.

As the Detroit Lions gear up for their crucial Week 18 matchup against the Minnesota Vikings, head coach Dan Campbell’s wife made an interesting reference to the popular TV show Game of Thrones.

In a recent interview, Mrs. Campbell compared the Lions’ underdog mentality to the Stark family in Game of Thrones, saying, “Just like the Starks, we may not have all the power or resources, but we have heart and determination that can’t be underestimated.”

With the Lions fighting for a playoff spot in the final week of the regular season, the comparison to the resilient Stark family seems fitting. As they face off against the Vikings in a must-win game, Detroit fans are hoping that their team can channel the same strength and resilience that the Starks displayed in the face of adversity.

As the Lions prepare for this decisive clash, Dan Campbell’s wife’s Game of Thrones reference serves as a reminder that sometimes, it’s not about having the most talent or resources, but about having the heart and determination to overcome the odds. Let’s see if the Lions can channel their inner Stark and come out victorious in this crucial Week 18 matchup.

Recap: Strome Scores Decisive Goal as Ducks Rally for Comeback Win

Cutter Gauthier, Drew Helleson, Robby Fabbri and Mason McTavish also scored for Anaheim, helping the Ducks remain unbeaten this season when scoring at least three goals. Goaltender Lukas Dostal earned his ninth win of the season with 20 saves.

Leon Draisaitl and Evan Bouchard scored for the Oilers, who fell to 21-12-3 on the season. Calvin Pickard made 27 saves.

Edmonton jumped out to an early 2-0 lead on goals by Draisaitl and Bouchard three minutes apart, a power-play one-timer and then a snipe off the rush after an unsuccessful Anaheim man advantage.

Draisaitl and Edmonton captain Connor McDavid each extended their scoring streaks to 11 games on the afternoon’s opening goal.

The goal also clinched Draisaitl’s ninth straight 25-goal season, tying Wayne Gretzky for the second-most in Edmonton franchise history.

Gauthier would bring Anaheim back within one late in the first though, evading an Oilers check off the rush before beating Pickard with a low shot through the five-hole.

In a thrilling matchup against the San Jose Sharks, the Anaheim Ducks pulled off a stunning comeback win with a decisive goal from Ryan Strome. Trailing by two goals in the third period, the Ducks rallied to score three unanswered goals and secure the victory.

Strome’s goal, a perfectly placed shot that sailed past the Sharks’ goaltender, ignited the Ducks’ offense and sparked a surge of momentum that carried them to the win. His clutch performance under pressure solidified him as a key player for the team and a reliable scorer in critical moments.

The Ducks’ resilience and determination were on full display as they refused to back down in the face of adversity. With their never-say-die attitude and unwavering belief in each other, they were able to mount an impressive comeback and emerge victorious.

This thrilling win serves as a testament to the Ducks’ fighting spirit and their ability to come together as a team when it matters most. As they continue their push towards the playoffs, this comeback victory will surely boost their confidence and motivation to keep pushing forward.

  • Podoroska, De Minaur wins set up decisive mixed doubles at United Cup

Podoroska, De Minaur wins set up decisive mixed doubles at United Cup

Alex de Minaur has become one of the most fearsome opponents for any player to face at the United Cup.

The Australian showed as much Saturday evening when he defeated Tomas Martin Etcheverry 6-1, 6-4 to level his country’s tie with Argentina at 1-1. Earlier, 2020 Roland Garros semifinalist Nadia Podoroska fought through her season opener to give Argentina a 1-0 lead. Podoroska opened the tie with a tidy 6-2, 6-4 win over Olivia Gadecki.

The mixed doubles will decide which country improves to 1-0 in Group F action.

    United Cup: ScoresDrawsOrder of Play

“I think just being back here in Sydney [helped]. I love it here,” De Minaur said. “I love playing here. I get to play in front of friends, family and in front of my home crowd, so what better way to start the new season?”

De Minaur is now 5-2 in singles at the United Cup. In 2023 he defeated Rafael Nadal at the event and in the 2024 edition the Aussie earned victories against three Top 10 opponents, including Novak Djokovic.

The win served as a measure of revenge for De Minaur. Etcheverry entered the clash with a 1-0 lead in their Lexus ATP Head2Head series thanks to a straight-sets triumph at Roland Garros in 2023.

De Minaur was undeterred by that defeat, using his backhand down the line to great effect in critical moments and winning 88 per cent of his first-serve points according to Infosys ATP Stats. He did not face a break point.

“I’ve been putting some great work in in the preseason,” De Minaur said. “I felt comfortable with the way I was playing before the tournament, so I just told myself to back myself and play the type of tennis I wanted to play.”

Ranked No.100 on the PIF WTA Rankings, Podoroska did her best to silence the partisan home crowd in the opening rubber by breaking the 97th-ranked Gadecki in her first service game. The 27-year-old stayed perfect on serve before engineering a second break to lead 5-2 before serving out the set.

Gadecki, 22, bounced back early in the second set. The Queenslander made her Top 100 debut in September after a rousing run to her first Hologic WTA Tour final at the Guadalajara Open Akron. The breakthrough came a month after she made her first ITF 100K final in Landisville.

After being broken to fall behind 2-1 in the second set, Gadecki steeled herself to earn her first break-point chance of the night and converted to level at 2-2. Another exchange of breaks took the set to 4-4 before Podoroska sealed the final break of the night to lead 5-4 and served out the win. In all, Podoroska earned 7 break point chances against the Gadecki serve, breaking five times. Gadecki saw just three break chances.

“I think I played very consistent the whole match,” Podoroska said on court. “Even when I missed some serves I keep doing my game. It’s very important to do that.”

    More to come…

In a thrilling day of tennis at the United Cup, Podoroska and De Minaur have set up a decisive mixed doubles match to determine the champion. Both players displayed incredible skill and determination in their respective singles matches, with Podoroska defeating her opponent in straight sets and De Minaur coming back from a set down to secure the win.

Now, all eyes will be on the mixed doubles match as Podoroska and De Minaur team up to take on their opponents in what promises to be an exciting and closely contested battle. With both players in top form, fans can expect a high level of tennis and plenty of drama as the final match of the tournament unfolds.

Stay tuned for updates and be sure to catch all the action as Podoroska and De Minaur look to claim the title at the United Cup. Who will emerge victorious in this thrilling mixed doubles showdown? Only time will tell.
