  • Fight between fans delays Saint Louis’ victory over VCU

A fight between fans in the stands near the VCU bench caused a Rams’ Atlantic 10 Conference game with Saint Louis to be delayed about seven minutes with 1:10 remaining in regulation.

The Billikens led 69-63 when fans wrestling with each other stumbled across rows of seats and onto the floor.

“You don’t often see this in college basketball, but there is a heck of a brawl going on in the stands,” play-by-play announcer Tom McCarthy said on the CBS Sports Network as the melee ensued. “The police officers and the security have come over and tried to help out almost immediately to slow it all down.”

Both teams huddled around their coaching staffs on the court as the brawl broke up, and the participants were led up the stairs from the section.

When the contest resumed, the Billikens were able to close it out. Gibson Jimerson scored 26 points as Saint Louis outlasted VCU 78-69.

Jimerson had five rebounds for the Billikens (13-8, 6-2). Kobe Johnson scored 19 points while going 6-of-10 from the floor, including 2-for-5 from 3-point range, and 5-for-6 from the free throw line and added six rebounds. Robbie Avila shot 3-of-5 from the field and 8-for-8 from the foul line to finish with 14 points.

Zeb Jackson led the Rams (16-5, 6-2) in scoring, finishing with 15 points and two steals. Phillip Russell added 15 points for VCU. Max Shulga also had 14 points. The loss ended a six-game winning streak for the Rams.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.

In a shocking turn of events, a fight between fans delayed Saint Louis’ victory over VCU. The intense rivalry between the two teams boiled over into chaos as fans from both sides clashed in the stands, causing a delay in the game.

The fight broke out in the second half of the game, with tensions running high as both teams fought for the lead. Security quickly intervened to break up the altercation, but not before the game was temporarily halted.

Despite the disruption, Saint Louis managed to maintain their focus and secure a hard-fought victory over VCU. However, the incident serves as a stark reminder of the passion and intensity that can sometimes escalate to dangerous levels in sports rivalries.

Both teams and their respective fan bases will need to reflect on this incident and work towards ensuring that such behavior does not happen again in the future. Sports should be a source of enjoyment and camaraderie, not violence and conflict. Let’s hope that this serves as a wake-up call for all involved to behave in a respectful and sportsmanlike manner in the future.

  • New Hampshire closings and delays: Jan. 29, 2025

Dozens of New Hampshire schools, institutions announce closings, delays for Wednesday morning

Light snow and some slower travel out there first thing this morning, the accumulating steadier light snow continues to taper off, and that leaves us with snow showers or *** brief squall this afternoon as the front makes its way through. Much colder air starts to build in tonight. It will be *** brief shot of colder air akin to what we had earlier last week. But then right on its heels will be another system with some light rain and light snow for Friday afternoon and Friday night. So some slower travel out there, factor in some extra time to clean off your car this morning. And to get where you need to go, snow shower activity around this afternoon. And again, the potential is going to be there for *** brief squall. I think that’s going to be rather isolated and not everywhere certainly across the state. And then the headline will be the much colder air building in. Wind chills will likely be subzero at this time tomorrow morning before eventually leveling off through the afternoon before the next system, which really has yet to get gathered back to our west, starts to move in. Time being, as. We will not steady of snow moving east as of sunrise. Still snow shower activity along the front back to the west that will start to arrive later this afternoon. In between now and then we’re in the mid and upper 20s in the north country with occasional light snow. We are in the mid to upper 30s in central parts of the state, and we could poke above 40 in southern areas, but again, you’re gonna notice we’re going to contend with some snow shower activity this afternoon and in early this evening. That will mean some quick. Changing conditions for the evening commute before the colder air rushes in, you’re going to notice *** breeze out of the west picking up through the afternoon. That will gust over 25 to 30 miles an hour tonight and into tomorrow. Tomorrow, *** very cold day, highs only in the teens, wind chills subzero early and in the single digits through the afternoon. Any sort of breaks of sunshine early Friday give way to the next system, and right now it looks like *** combination of some light rain. And light snow depending on where we happen to be rain snow line on all the computer maps this morning varies greatly, which would obviously dictate any sort of accumulation out of that system through Friday night. That will pull away, does set up some sunshine for Saturday and our next system looks like some scattered snow showers later Sunday or Sunday night. There’s your 7 day forecast which has temperatures cooling off for the weekend, but not bad with *** mixture of sunshine and clouds.

Multiple Western PA school’s announce delays Thursday due to frigid morning temps

WEEKEND AND INTO NEXT WEEK WILL FINALLY SEE SOME TEMPERATURES THAT WILL BE, LET’S CALL THEM, RESPECTABLE AS WE GO INTO TOMORROW. ANOTHER PRETTY CHILLY MORNING. WE’RE LOOKING AT SINGLE DIGIT LOW TEMPERATURES, WIND CHILLS THAT WILL BE AT ZERO OR MAYBE EVEN A LITTLE BELOW ABOUT 1 TO 2 DEGREES BELOW ZERO AT 7 OR 8:00 IN THE MORNING. AND THEN WE TAKE IT INTO FRIDAY WHERE IT WON’T BE QUITE AS COLD. THE LOW TEMPERATURE DOWN AROUND 12 DEGREES. HIGHS IN THE MID 20S ON FRIDAY. AN IMPACT DAY FOR THOSE COLD TEMPERATURES ONCE AGAIN FOR TOMORROW. BUT THAT SHOULD KIND OF BE THE END OF IT AS WE GO THROUGH THE NEXT FEW DAYS. AS FAR AS THE TEMPERATURES, YOU CAN SEE A LOT OF PLACES WILL DROP DOWN INTO THE SINGLE DIGITS, INCLUDING CRANBERRY AT EIGHT DEGREES, BUTLER AND BEAVER AT SEVEN DEGREES, INDIANA AT NINE, AND KITTANNING AT EIGHT DEGREES. BUT WE DO WARM IT UP VERY SLOWLY, VERY GRADUALLY. 24 FOR YOUR HIGH ON FRIDAY. WE DO DROP IT DOWN TO EIGHT ON SATURDAY, BUT WE BOUNCE BACK TO 30 DEGREES AND THEN 34 AT THE END OF THE WEEKEND. ON SUNDAY AND SUNDAY MORNING, A LOW TEMPERATURE OF 26, SO WE WON’T GET ANYWHERE NEAR THE LOW TEMPERATURES THAT WE’VE HAD OVER THE LAST SEVERAL DAYS. AND THEN AGAIN, IT’S JUST A SLOW, GRADUAL JOURNEY TO 40 DEGREES AS WE HEAD THROUGH NEXT WEEK. CHANCE OF A FEW FLURRIES ON TUESDAY, BUT YOU CAN SEE 35 TUESDAY, 38 ON WEDNESDAY AND UP TO 40 DEGREES ON THURSDAY. FOR TOMORROW WE’LL BE LOOKING AT THOSE LOW TEMPERATURES DOWN AROUND NINE DEGREES AND PITTSBURGH REALLY ANYWHERE BETWEEN ABOUT 7 TO 9 MID 20S FOR YOUR HIGH TEMPERATURES AND THE WIND CHILL, MAYBE 1 TO 2 DEGREES, POSSIBLY A LITTLE COLDER IN SOME LOCATIONS BELOW ZERO FOR YOUR WIND CHILL OR WHAT IT FEELS LIKE OUTSIDE IN THE MORNING. OUR BEST SHOT AT SEEING SOME SUNSHINE AROUND THE AREA. WE’LL HAVE INCREASING CLOUDS AS WE HEAD THROUGH THE DAY, AND EVENTUALLY, ONCE WE GET TO THE EVENING HOURS, WE’LL HAVE A CHANCE OF SOME FLURRIES IN THE AREA. THOSE WILL MOVE ON OUT. WE’LL TAKE IT INTO THE END OF THE WEEK ON FRIDAY, AND YOU CAN SEE MOSTLY CLOUDY. THOSE CLOUDS WILL BREAK UP HERE AND THERE AND GET A LITTLE SUNSHINE THROUGH ON FRIDAY, BUT IT WILL BE MOSTLY CLOUDY THROUGH THE DAY. AND THAT WILL ALSO BE THE CASE ON SATURDAY, WHERE WE ARE AGAIN LOOKING AT MOSTLY CLOUDY SKIES, WHICH IS PRETTY TYPICAL FOR THIS TIME OF YEAR. SO OUR THREE DAY PLANNER GOES LIKE THIS 26 FOR YOUR HIGH ON THURSDAY. IT’S AN IMPACT DAY FOR THE COLD TEMPERATURES AND THE WIND CHILLS. WE GO INTO FRIDAY A HIGH OF 24 DEGREES, NOT QUITE AS COLD IN THE MORNING, AND THE
