  • See Dennis Quaid as a Murderous Serial Killer in First ‘Happy Face’ Trailer

The first trailer for Happy Face is here!

A preview at the new Paramount+ show documenting a serial killer’s daughter, played by Annaleigh Ashford, fighting for justice has been released. Based on the real-life story of murderer Keith Jesperson and his daughter Melissa Reed, Happy Face stars Dennis Quaid as the dangerous Happy Face Killer.

“What do you know about the Happy Face Killer?” a talk show host named Dr. Greg (David Harewood) asks Reed at the start of the trailer. “Perhaps we should just explain why you’re here.”

After flashbacks of her childhood appear on the screen, she reveals her secret.

“Because he’s my father,” she tells the audience.

A series of clips of Reed investigating cases she believes are linked to her estranged father then play while she contemplates reconciling with him for the sake of a man being put in jail for crimes Jesperson actually committed.

“Every violent act is a rock dropped in water,” she says. “If you stay silent, the ripples of trauma just keep pulling everyone they touch underneath.”

It ends with her decision: a visit to the prison where her father is being held.

“It’s so good to see you, Missy,” he whispers as the two come face-to-face.

Jesperson’s killings have been a topic of public interest since 2010 when he was convicted and given three life sentences for the strangulation deaths of eight women in the 1990’s (he once claimed to have as many as 160 victims). His last victim was only recently discovered in 2023, 29 years after her murder.

Jesperson was only dubbed the “Happy Face Killer” after the murders when he allegedly began drawing smiley faces on letters to police and the media during their investigation.

His daughter, who goes by Melissa Moore, has been outspoken about the impact her father’s crimes had on her life, even writing a book about it in 2009, called Shattered Silence. She later opened up about it in an interview with 20/20 in 2015.

“We are secondary crime victims. We carry that shame and we want to remove that,” Moore said at the time” “I feel in a sense I am related to my father, but I didn’t cause the pain. But knowing that my father caused some pain causes me pain.”

She also admitted that there were signs everyone in Jesperson’s life overlooked, recalling one time during her childhood that he tortured and killed kittens.

“I think I caught a glimpse of the sociopath, the part of where felt in control over me and that he enjoyed it. I got the sense that there was another side to him,” she explained in a 2010 interview with the outlet.

She has gone on to work with others in the same position as her and help people who lost loved ones in unsolved murders.

  • Dennis Quaid Is Serial Killer in Paramount Show

Dennis Quaid stars as the notorious Happy Face Killer, aka Keith Hunter Jesperson, in the upcoming Paramount+ drama series “Happy Face.”

The eight-episode season will premiere on March 20 with two episodes, with weekly drops thereafter. The series is inspired by the true story of Melissa G. Moore, who, at age 15, discovered that her father was the prolific Happy Face Killer. As an adult, Moore has changed her name and guarded her secret as her father serves a life sentence in prison.

In the trailer, Happy Face finds a way to force himself back into his daughter’s life. In a race against the clock, Moore, played by Tony winner Annaleigh Ashford, must find out whether an innocent man will receive the death penalty for a crime her father committed. In the series, “she discovers the impact her father had on his victims’ families and must face a reckoning of her own identity.”

Jesperson, who is currently serving life without parole at an Oregon penitentiary, murdered at least eight women in the United States during the 1990s. He got his nickname because he often drew smiley faces on his letters to the media and authorities.

James Wolk, Tamera Tomakili, Khiyla Aynne and Benjamin Mackey also star in “Happy Face,” which is based on Moore’s podcast and autobiography “Shattered Silence,” co-written with M. Bridget Cook.

The show is produced by CBS Studios in association with King Size Productions, iHeartPodcasts and Semi-Formal Productions. Jennifer Cacicio (“Your Honor,” “Shooter”) serves as showrunner for the series and executive produces alongside Robert and Michelle King, Liz Glotzer, Moore, Conal Byrne, Will Pearson, Michael Showalter and Jordana Mollick. Showalter (“The Dropout,” “The Eyes of Tammy Faye”) also directed the first episode. The series is distributed by Paramount Global Content Distribution.

  • Dennis Quaid, Annaleigh Ashford in ‘Happy Face’ Teaser for Paramount+

The long-in-the-works thriller Happy Face will arrive on Paramount+ in the spring.

The streamer has set a March 20 premiere date and released a teaser for the drama, which stars Annaleigh Ashford (B Positive, Masters of Sex) as Melissa, a woman whose father (Dennis Quaid) is a notorious serial killer known as Happy Face. The show, executive produced by Robert and Michelle King (Evil, Elsbeth), is based on a true story.

In the teaser, Ashford’s Melissa says that “every violent act is a rock dropped in water. If you stay silent, the ripples of trauma just keep pulling everyone they touch underneath.” Watch it below.

Along with Ashford and Quaid, Happy Face also stars James Wolk, Tamera Tomakili, Khiyla Aynne and Benjamin Mackey. The show is based on the real-life story of Melissa G. Moore; the Happy Face podcast from Moore and iHeartPodcasts; and Moore’s autobiography Shattered Silence, written with M. Bridget Cook.

Paramount+ ordered the series in 2021, and it had been in the works for a year prior to that. Ashford and Quaid boarded the show early last year. The streamer’s description of Happy Face says the show will branch off from Moore’s real-life story and follow Melissa and her father, who, “after decades of no contact, finally finds a way to force himself back into his daughter’s life. In a race against the clock, Melissa must find out if an innocent man is going to be put to death for a crime her father committed. Throughout, she discovers the impact her father had on his victims’ families and must face a reckoning of her own identity.”

CBS Studios produces the series with King Size Productions, iHeartPodcasts and Semi-Formal Productions. Jennifer Cacicio (Your Honor, Shooter) is the showrunner and executive produces with the Kings, Liz Glotzer, Moore, Conal Byrne, Will Pearson, Michael Showalter (who also directed the first episode) and Jordana Mollick.

Paramount+ has released the first teaser for its upcoming comedy series “Happy Face,” starring Dennis Quaid and Annaleigh Ashford. The show follows a father-daughter duo who must navigate life’s ups and downs while running a struggling business together.

In the teaser, we see Quaid as the optimistic but somewhat clueless father, trying to keep his spirits up despite the challenges he faces. Ashford plays his daughter, who is more practical and level-headed as she tries to help her father keep the business afloat.

The chemistry between Quaid and Ashford is undeniable, and their comedic timing shines through in the short clip. With a talented cast and a promising premise, “Happy Face” looks like it will be a must-watch for fans of quirky, heartwarming comedies.

Stay tuned for more updates on “Happy Face” as its premiere date on Paramount+ approaches.

In this edition of Explain One Play, we’re breaking down a highlight play featuring Steph Curry and Dennis Schröder as they cut up the Washington Wizards with precision and finesse.

The play starts with Curry bringing the ball up the court, closely guarded by his defender. As he crosses half court, he quickly surveys the defense and notices a mismatch with Schröder being guarded by a slower defender. Curry immediately calls for a pick from Schröder, who obliges and sets a solid screen.

With the screen set, Curry quickly accelerates past his defender and gets into the paint. As the defense collapses on Curry, he makes a quick kick-out pass to Schröder, who is now wide open on the perimeter. Schröder catches the ball and without hesitation, rises up for a three-point shot.

The shot is nothing but net, as Schröder drains the three-pointer with ease. The Wizards defense is left scrambling as they try to recover, but it’s too late. Curry and Schröder have successfully cut up the defense with their quick decision-making and teamwork, leaving the Wizards in their wake.

This play showcases the importance of spacing, communication, and taking advantage of mismatches on the court. Curry and Schröder’s ability to read and react to the defense led to an easy basket and ultimately helped secure the win for their team. It’s plays like these that highlight the brilliance of two elite playmakers working together to dissect the opposition.

  • Dennis Allen headed to the Windy City?

Former Saints head coach Dennis Allen headed to the Windy City?

All right, let’s do some who, what, when, where, why all the questions, Katherine, when it comes to the Saints salary cap. How in world do they get on the cap? I know they’re not 100 million over the cap like *** few years ago. Well, you know, salary cap is my favorite topic. I write *** piece every single year about how they get under, so maybe the Saints are helping me stay employed by doing this every year, but this year actually surprisingly is not as bad, just like you said. They started out the offseason predicted to be around 65 million. That’s just based on an estimated cap. They already made one major move and that was restructuring Ryan Rammchek, who did the same thing that Drew Brees did in 2021, lowered his base salary, which is an indication that he could. tire due to his, you know, knee injuries that prevented him from playing in 2024, and they’ll have more moves to come. Major moves. What other major moves can the Saints make to get underneath the cap? Well, first of all, they have $17 million in dead money potentially pending, and it depends on whether they resigned Chase Young, resign Tano, resign Jaan Johnson. And so that’s one thing, but obviously they’re going to have *** few restructures potentially with some of the younger players, and then they’ll have to make *** few cuts. The older players are the interesting topic here because *** lot of older players are tying up *** significant portion of the salary cap. When the Saints entered this offseason before the Ryan Rammchek move, it was *** 140 million in salary cap hits just for six players. So it’s not easily fixable, but obviously the Saints will figure out *** way to do it by March. The next big question, quarterback Derek Carr. What is it? 51 1.4 million this year. That is *** lot of money. What do they do with Derek Carr? Do they bring him back? Did they restructure? You already asked him about taking *** pay cut, and that was that was *** pretty definite no. So what do they do? Well, I think that what I would do if I was *** salary cap manager is you would move forward with Derek Carr at 51.4 million. I know that’s *** huge salary cap hit, however, then you can move on from him more easily next year. And the reason I say that is because the Saints don’t have the first pick in the draft, as Mickey Loomis said, they don’t have an easy way to get *** slam dunk. quarterback. It really is going to depend on *** few factors though. Who does the next head coach want? Does the next head coach want to go with someone like Jake Hayner or Spencer Rattler? Do they want to try to move up in the draft, or do they think, well, we’ll use Derek Carr as *** bridge quarterback and then kind of start moving on in earnest in 2026. There’s really *** lot of ways and things that could happen before that Derek Carr decision is made. Keyword here, I don’t think Mickey Loomis really likes this word rebuilds. Do they rebuild? He’s never liked that word. I think, uh, what was it? 10 years ago. It wasn’t Mickey, but Drey said the window was slammed open, and I think that they continue to think that way. The problem is it’s hard to rebuild the NFL. Everyone wants to say, oh, let’s just tear it down to the studs. Well, with the salary cap, it’s hard to do because of the dead money hits that come with restructuring and then trying to move on from those players early. So the way to rebuild is to to stop doing that, to try to just basically take your lumps this year and then 2026, you have not *** clean slate, but *** much easier slate to manage. So I’m assuming here. That that maybe they’re somewhat of players in free agency, but this is where they have to do their damage to get this roster back is in the NFL draft like they did in 2017 and even back in 2006. Yeah, I totally agree that they shouldn’t be huge players in free agency. I thought that last year and they kind of surprised everyone by going and spending *** lot of money on Chase Young. I think that this draft is so important, and you could say that every year. But the Saints haven’t really hit on *** lot of drafts lately, so they need that they need this draft to hit and these guys on rookie contracts to be able to kind of help massage the salary cap in the next few years. You know, the one thing Mickey Loomis says is getting things right. They want to get back into the playoffs. He has *** lot of pressure to, you know, make this franchise *** winning franchise again. It’s been 4 years. The pressure starts to add up and add up after years of not getting into the postseason. How long, much longer does he stay as the GM? How much longer do you think he wants to do this? He was asked about retirement. He said, no, if I can’t do it, then maybe I’ll think about it. Well, I was joking how last year Mickey Loomis said that everyone needed to get comfortable with being uncomfortable, and then this year he said he was comfortably uncomfortable. So I, I don’t know what we’ll hear next year, but I think that everyone kind of should be on edge, you know, from the front office down to. You know, whatever coaches remain here next year because if they don’t make *** great coaching hire and hit on this draft, then they’ll be right back in this position in *** few years and I think Mickey Loomis, who’s already getting *** lot of scrutiny, will probably start getting more internal scrutiny. But you know, for now it seems like they’re comfortable kind of moving ahead with their current front office structure. This is *** crystal ball question how far away is this franchise from being *** competitive franchise again? Well, you see franchises all the time turn around quickly when you make the right moves. Uh, you saw that with Denver, uh, Detroit, now look at them after where they were just *** few years ago. You know, the right coach and hitting on the draft can turn things around immediately, but I do think that this is going to be harder with the state of the salary cap, just *** lot of different areas going on. So. I would be surprised if they’re suddenly able to turn it into *** winning season next year, but I think if they make the right moves within, you know, maybe the next few years, starting to clean slate in 2026, you might be able to start building back up. All right. She is Catherine Terrell from ESPN answering all your questions about the cap, free agency, draft, every question that we can possibly ask. Thanks, Kat. Thanks for having me on back to you.

Johnson had spent three seasons as Detroit’s offensive coordinator. This season, the Lions led the league in points per game and finished second in yards passing and total yards per game.

Rumors are swirling that former New Orleans Saints defensive coordinator Dennis Allen could be headed to the Windy City to join the Chicago Bears coaching staff. With the Bears parting ways with defensive coordinator Chuck Pagano, Allen’s name has been floated as a potential replacement.

Allen has an impressive coaching resume, including stints as the head coach of the Oakland Raiders and as a defensive coordinator for the Denver Broncos before joining the Saints. Under Allen’s leadership, the Saints defense has consistently been one of the best in the league.

If Allen does make the move to Chicago, it could be a game-changer for the Bears defense. His aggressive and innovative coaching style could help elevate the Bears’ defense to new heights and make them a force to be reckoned with in the NFC North.

Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story as we await official confirmation of Dennis Allen’s potential move to the Windy City.

  • Dennis Allen interviews for Colts DC Friday

Former Saints head coach Dennis Allen is making his pitch for a new job on Friday.

Word earlier this week was that Allen would interview with the Colts for their vacant defensive coordinator job and Albert Breer of SI.com reports that the interview is taking place on Friday.

Allen was fired by the Saints after opening the 2024 season with a 2-7 record and he was 18-25 overall during his time in New Orleans. Allen also struggled as the Raiders head coach earlier in his career, but he was a successful coordinator with the Saints before getting bumped up to the top job.

Steve Wilks, Lou Anarumo, Wink Martindale and Ephraim Banda have also interviewed for the coordinator position on Shane Steichen’s staff in Indianapolis.

It has been reported that former New Orleans Saints defensive coordinator Dennis Allen is set to interview for the Indianapolis Colts’ defensive coordinator position on Friday. Allen, who has been with the Saints since 2015, has a wealth of experience and success in the NFL.

During his time with the Saints, Allen helped lead the team to multiple playoff appearances and a Super Bowl victory in 2009 as the defensive backs coach. He was promoted to defensive coordinator in 2015 and has since built one of the league’s top defenses.

The Colts are looking to fill the vacancy left by Matt Eberflus, who recently left to become the head coach of the Chicago Bears. Allen’s interview on Friday could potentially lead to him taking over the reins of the Colts’ defense and continuing their strong tradition of defensive excellence.

Stay tuned for updates on Dennis Allen’s interview with the Colts and the potential impact he could have on their defense in the upcoming season.
