Crystal Dunn and NJ/NY Gotham FC have mutually agreed to part ways, the NWSL club announced on Tuesday.
The 32-year-old midfielder is leaving the club to “pursue a new opportunity,” per a Gotham announcement.
“Crystal is an accomplished player who has achieved so much in her career,” said Yael Averbuch West, the general manager and head of soccer operations for Gotham FC. “We wish her all the best in the next chapter of her career, and we thank her for her contributions to our club.”
Dunn spent just one season with Gotham after joining from the Portland Thorns as a free agent in December 2023. The U.S. women’s national team stalwart appeared in 23 matches in all competitions (13 starts), recording one goal and two assists.
Dunn did not appear for Gotham after September due to an “excused absence,” missing the team’s last 10 games as it advanced to the NWSL semifinal.
In a post on Instagram, the New York native admitted she was “incredibly sad” to be leaving the club so quickly.
“I can’t even find the words to express how incredibly sad I am,” Dunn said. “Though my journey continues elsewhere, I am at least grateful to have played at home in front of my friends and family for even a short while. I’ll carry those memories with me always.”
Dunn’s departure adds to a growing list of Gotham standouts who’ve left the club this offseason.
Delanie Sheehan (Houston) and Sam Hiatt (Portland) left as free agents, while USWNT forwards Lynn Biyendolo (Seattle) and Yazmeen Ryan (Houston) were both granted trades. On Monday, The Athletic reported that USWNT left back Jenna Nighswonger would be sold to Arsenal.
Dunn was called into the USWNT’s training camp this month, ending nearly four months away from any kind of team environment. The veteran was the most-capped player on the January roster with 155 appearances for the USWNT.
Dunn started every game for the USWNT at the 2024 Olympics, turning in several excellent performances at left back as the Americans took home the gold medal.
That added to Dunn’s bronze medal from the Olympics in 2021, as well as a World Cup title she won with the USWNT in 2019.
USWNT star Dunn departs Gotham FC after one season
In a surprising turn of events, United States Women’s National Team star Crystal Dunn has announced her departure from Gotham FC after just one season with the club. Dunn, who joined Gotham FC in January 2021 after a trade from the North Carolina Courage, cited personal reasons for her decision to leave the team.
During her time with Gotham FC, Dunn made a significant impact on the field, showcasing her versatility and skill as both a defender and midfielder. She was a key player for the team, helping them secure a spot in the NWSL playoffs and earning praise for her performances throughout the season.
Dunn’s departure comes as a blow to Gotham FC, who will now have to find a way to fill the void left by one of their star players. However, fans of the team are grateful for Dunn’s contributions and wish her the best in her future endeavors.
As for Dunn, she has not yet announced her plans for the future, but fans and teammates alike are hopeful that she will continue to shine on the soccer field, wherever she may go next.
The F.B.I.’s acting director abruptly retired on Monday as the bureau faces a potentially tumultuous leadership change under the Trump administration.
The move left unclear who would take over once the departure of the acting director, Paul Abbate, took effect at noon. His exit is unusual given that the acting director typically remains in place until a new director is confirmed by the Senate to ensure stability at the highest ranks of the bureau.
Mr. Abbate took command of the bureau on Sunday after Christopher A. Wray, the previous director, announced last month that he would step down before the inauguration. President Trump appointed Mr. Wray in 2017 but publicly attacked him and the F.B.I., which repeatedly investigated him.
In a rare move, Mr. Wray extended the service of Mr. Abbate, who is 57, the mandatory retirement age of certain F.B.I. agents.
In an email to senior F.B.I. officials, Mr. Abbate wrote: “When the director asked me to stay on past my mandatory date for a brief time, I did so to help ensure continuity and the best transition for the F.B.I. Now, with new leadership inbound, after nearly four years in the deputy role, I am departing the F.B.I.”
He added, “I have complete confidence in you and in your ability as a team to continue to carry out our mission of protecting the American people and upholding the Constitution.”
The F.B.I. declined to comment.
Mr. Abbate was named deputy director in February 2021, and Mr. Wray has said it was one of the best decisions he made during his time at the bureau. As deputy, Mr. Abbate oversaw all of the F.B.I.’s domestic and international investigative and intelligence activities and operations. The bureau has about 38,000 employees with agents stationed around the world and other U.S. agencies.
Mr. Trump has said he will nominate Kash Patel, 44, to be the bureau’s next director, but his confirmation hearing has not been scheduled yet.
Mr. Patel worked as a prosecutor at the Justice Department’s national security division from 2014 to 2017 and is expected to face bruising questions about his qualifications. He lacks the experience of previous directors, but his unwavering loyalty to Mr. Trump has catapulted him to consideration for the F.B.I.’s top job.
He has portrayed law enforcement agencies as part of an inept and politicized “deep state,” and he has fiercely criticized the agency and Justice Department over a court-authorized warrant to search for classified documents at Mar-a-Lago, Mr. Trump’s private club and residence in Florida.
In his 2023 book, “Government Gangsters,” Mr. Patel published an extensive enemies list that includes a current F.B.I. agent and an analyst. Mr. Wray also made the list, but Mr. Abbate did not appear on it.
Still, Mr. Patel wrote in his book that the president must “fire the top ranks of the F.B.I.”
Former and current F.B.I. officials are concerned about the drastic changes Mr. Patel has promised at a time that Mr. Wray has said the country faces a serious increase in threats, including from terrorism or from countries like China.
For Mr. Wray, the decision to resign was not an easy one. Last month, he explained to F.B.I. employees why he made the choice, rather than finish out his 10-year term in 2027.
“After weeks of careful thought, I’ve decided the right thing for the bureau is for me to serve until the end of the current administration in January and then step down,” he said. He added that “in my view, this is the best way to avoid dragging the bureau deeper into the fray, while reinforcing the values and principles that are so important to how we do our work.”
Today, it was announced that Paul Abbate, the current Acting Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, will be retiring following the departure of Christopher Wray. Abbate, who has served in various roles within the F.B.I. for over 20 years, has been leading the agency since Wray’s resignation.
During his time as Acting Director, Abbate has been praised for his leadership and dedication to upholding the values and mission of the F.B.I. He has overseen numerous high-profile investigations and played a key role in ensuring the agency’s continued success in combating crime and terrorism.
As Abbate prepares to step down, the search for a new permanent Director of the F.B.I. is underway. The announcement of Abbate’s retirement has sparked speculation and anticipation about who will be chosen to lead the agency next.
We thank Paul Abbate for his years of service and wish him all the best in his future endeavors. The F.B.I. will undoubtedly miss his steady leadership and unwavering commitment to justice.
Joe Biden departed the White House for the final time as president on Monday, ending a half-century career in politics that took him from a county council seat in Delaware to the United States Senate, the vice presidency, and ultimately, the highest elected office in the land.
A long motorcade of black limousines and SUVs rolled down the driveway of the White House North Lawn at 10:39 a.m., through the iron gates surrounding the presidential mansion and turned toward the U.S. Capitol.
In the back seat of the presidential limo was Biden, taking his last ride as leader of the free world. Beside him, President-elect Donald Trump, who would take the oath of office and assume the presidency at noon.
Four years ago, Biden made the 10-minute drive to the Capitol without his predecessor.
Trump, bitter over his loss to Biden and in denial about his defeat, departed the White House the morning of the inauguration aboard the presidential helicopter. He refused to participate in the ceremonies for the man who would replace him, as previous outgoing presidents have done for decades. He was in Palm Beach, Florida, when Biden’s swearing-in ceremony began.
Biden, however, a believer of traditions and institutions, argued that Americans want to see the peaceful transfer of power. So on Monday, he rode to the Capitol with Trump, whose two nonconsecutive terms will bookend Biden’s single, four-year term as president.
Asked by reporters before his departure how he felt, Biden responded: “Good. It’s a beautiful day.”
First lady Jill Biden and U.S. President Joe Biden greet President-elect Donald Trump and Melania Trump ahead of his inauguration, at the White House on January 20, 2025.
Biden to Trump: ‘Welcome home’
The changing of the guard started early Monday when Biden and first lady Jill Biden greeted Trump and his wife, Melania Trump, at the White House for a ceremonial tea.
“Welcome home,” Biden said to Trump as he stepped out of an SUV at the White House North Portico .
The Trumps walked up the steps of the White House toward its front entrance hand in hand.
Melania Trump arrived at the White House at the start of her husband’s first term carrying a Tiffany Blue box that she presented to Barack and Michelle Obama. She was empty-handed on Monday.
Also notably absent were the hugs and European kisses the Obamas welcomed their replacements with as they presented themselves at the North Portico. While the handoff from the Obamas was strikingly warm, the couples’ handshake with the Bidens was decidedly formal.
Trump fiddled with the button on his overcoat but finally left it unbuttoned as the couples posed for photos. Melania Trump put her hand on her head to keep her hat down as a gust of wind threatened to knock if off as all four headed inside the presidential mansion.
Atop the White House, the American flag flew at half-staff in honor of former President Jimmy Carter, who died last Dec. 29. Trump had protested that the flag ritual would coincide with his inauguration.
Vice President Kamala Harris‘ exit from her Naval Observatory residence was a lower key affair. She and second gentleman Doug Emhoff said their public goodbyes on Thursday as Harris continued the vice presidential tradition of signing the desk in her Ceremonial Office. Staff and alumni of Harris’ operation stuffed themselves into the ornate room.
Every vice president has used the office, with one exception, since 1960. It will become JD Vance’s workplace next.
Harris lost the 2024 election to Trump after taking over as the Democratic nominee from Biden. Her political future is unclear. She is considering a run for California governor in 2026.
“It is not my nature to go quietly into the night,” she said with a laugh at her desk signing. “So don’t worry about that.”
A spokesperson for Harris said the former California attorney general and U.S. senator would decide what comes next in her career after the inauguration. She and Emhoff will fly to Los Angeles on Monday. The couple own a home in Brentwood, which had been under evacuation orders amidst the wildfires. California will be their primary residence.
Following Trump’s inauguration, the Bidens and the Trumps walked out of the Capitol’s East Front and headed to a waiting Blackhawk military helicopter.
After handshakes and farewells, the Bidens boarded the chopper for the short flight to Joint Base Andrews in suburban Maryland, where Biden will receive a send-off and give his first speech as former president.
From there, Biden, now a private citizen, will travel to California for a vacation.

On January 20, 2025, Joe Biden bid farewell to the White House as he completed his term as the 46th President of the United States. Stepping out of the iconic building for the final time, Biden waved to the gathered crowd and media, reflecting on his time in office and the challenges faced during his presidency.
As he boarded Marine One for the last time, Biden expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve the American people and highlighted the progress made during his time in office. From tackling the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic to addressing climate change and racial inequality, Biden’s administration worked tirelessly to make a positive impact on the nation.
As the helicopter soared into the sky, carrying Biden away from the White House, the country prepared to welcome its new leader. With a mix of emotions, Americans watched as Biden’s presidency came to an end, marking a new chapter in the nation’s history.
As Joe Biden departed the White House for the final time as president, his legacy as a leader who stood for unity, compassion, and progress remained in the hearts of the American people.

LIVE UPDATES
India Vs Australia, 5th Test Day 2 Live Score: Wicket!
Pant’s madness ends here. We just had drinks and Cummins brought himself into the attack. This was not a wicket-taking ball though. Short and wide. Pant wants to cut but ends up with an outside edge. The catch is taken cleanly and the mayhem ends. But he goes after putting India in frontfoot in the match. 66 runs in 31 balls with six fours and three sixes. Stunning stuff from Pant.
India Vs Australia, 5th Test Day 2 Live Score: 50 For Pant
First half-century of the series for Pant and what a time to bring. Also, what a way to bring it. Just 29 balls taken and he smashed Starc over square leg for a six to get to the milestone. Second quickest Test half-century for India. What a blinder he is playing.
Another one goes for a six. Back-to-back sixes for Pant. Starc taken for a ride here. He is straying on the pads and Pant is lofting him behind the square for sixes.
India Vs Australia, 5th Test Day 2 Live Score: SIX!
Now, Australia are definitely under pressure. Pant is taking the game away from them. Full delivery fro Webster and Pant sits on one knee to loft it over square leg for a maximum. Blockbuster stuff from Pant.
Another four. Pant is racing away to his fifty and India are now in the driver’s seat. He is batting on 45 from 22 balls.
India Vs Australia, 5th Test Day 2 Live Score: 4,4,4
Unstoppable. He has slapped Webster for three consecutive boundaries. He knows there is no point letting bowlers bowl in the right areas. So, he is taking his chances and it is coming off nicely. That is why you do not criticise him when it does not comes off.
The lead has crossed 100 and Pant is into 30s.
IND Vs AUS, 5th Test Day 2 Live Score: FOUR!
Pant would not let Boland settle. First ball of the fresh over and Pant jumps out his crease and slams this length ball over the bowler for a boundary. Pant is not stopping but how long can this assault last?
IND Vs AUS, 5th Test Day 2 Live Score: WICKET!
The game is moving along at a ferocious speed. Beau Webster comes into the attack and he has Gill caught on the second ball. Gill jumps to this fullish delivery and is aiming to slam it towards midwicket. The ball seams in and gets an inside edge and Carey takes a good diving catch to his left. Gill c Carey b Webster 13(15)
IND Vs AUS, 5th Test Day 2 Live Score: SIX!
The disruptor has arrived and he slams the first ball for six. What a start for Rishabh Pant. Jumps down the crease and lofts it over long on fence for a six. Super start for Pant.
Now, he tries the reverse scoop. Just the third ball that he is facing and he goes for the reverse. But does not get connection.
IND Vs AUS, 5th Test Day 2 Live Score: WICKET!
Kohli edges to slips again. He is livid with himself and Australia can not be more delighted. And yet again it is Scott Boland who strikes. He has taken all three wickets in this innings. The ball was yet again just outside the off-stump and Kohli could have left it. But he is standing on the off-stump and has to play it. The ball takes an edge and lands in the safe hands of Smith in second slip. Kohli c Smith b Boland 6(12)
IND Vs AUS, 5th Test Day 2 Live Score: FOUR
An authoritative shot from Kohli to get a boundary. Short ball from Boland and Kohli goes to pull in front of square. All he has to do is to beat the mid-off fielder and he does it with ease. The ball runs to the boundary and Kohli gets his first four.
IND Vs AUS, 5th Test Day 2 Live Score: WICKET
Jaiswal has been bowled. Scott Boland is coming up with unplayabble deliveries to put India in trouble. On a length, Jaiswal can neither go forward nor backward and looks to play from the crease. The ball nips away from the left-hander after pitching and Jaiswal can not do anything about it. Jaiswal b Boland 22(35)
IND Vs AUS, 5th Test Day 2 Live Score: WICKET
Boland cleans up Rahul. Boland goes a little full with the line just outside off stump. Rahul walks across and is looking to play it on the move. The ball comes back just a little after pitching and takes the inside edge on its way to stumps. India lose their first wicket. KL Rahul b Boland 13(20)
IND Vs AUS, 5th Test Day 2 Live Score: FOUR
First boundary for KL Rahul. Cummins drift towards the pads and Rahul flicks it beautifully. The ball runs down to the mid-wicket boundary for a four. A confident start for India.
IND Vs AUS, 5th Test Day 2 Live Score: 4,4,4,0,4
Jaiswal begins with four boundaries in the first over. Four boundaries and all of them on the off side for the left-hander and he has put Starc under pressure straightaway. Starc really struggled with his line here.
IND Vs AUS, 5th Test Day 2 Live Score: India Bowling Card

That will be it for the second session. Australia are bowled out for 181, giving India a four-run lead. The lead is small but the big news is what happened to Jasprit Bumrah. Is he injured? Will he return to play? Massive development for India. Anyways, we head for the tea break.
No Rohit, No Bumrah In Ind Vs Aus 5th Test: Who’s Leading India?
Seems like Virat Kohli handled captaincy duties in the absence of Bumrah and Rohit. But anyway India take a four-run lead.
IND Vs AUS, 5th Test Day 2 Live Score: WICKET
Australia bowled out for 181 in 51 overs.
Siraj bowls Boland. Full delivery and it sneaks through Boland’s defence and he is gone for nine. India take a 4-run lead.
IND Vs AUS, 5th Test Day 2 Live Score: WICKET
Webster is gone. Australia lose three wickets in just four runs and the game has turned on its head. Australia looked set to get the lead but now surely India will go ahead. Webster goes for a loose poke outside off stump and hands a catch to Jaiswal at gully. But a good debut for Webster. Important innings for Australia.

IND Vs AUS, 5th Test Day 2 Live Score: WICKET
India catching everything. Australia lose their eighth wicket. Nitish Reddy gets his second wicket of the day. Back of a length and Starc edges it to the second slip where Rahul completes a good catch diving forward.
IND Vs AUS, 5th Test Day 2 Live Score: WICKET
Another one down. Things getting interesting here in Sydney. Cummins with his feet freezed pokes at this fullish delivery from Reddy and edges it to slip where Kohli grabs a sharp catch.
Cummins c Kohli b Nitish Reddy 10(20)
IND Vs AUS, 5th Test Day 2 Live Score: 50 For Webster
Beau Webster has raised a fifty on Test debut. Big innings from the debutant. Some years ago, he was an off-spinner who batted and now he is a medium pacer who is a good enough Test batter. Big transformation and he is going good today as well.
IND Vs AUS, 5th Test Day 2 Live Score: Injury Scare
Bumrah is off the field. Could it be an injury scare? That will get really bad for India if it happens. Fans would hope he returns soon.
He has left the ground for hospital to get scans done.
IND Vs AUS, 5th Test Day 2 Live Score: Wicket
Prasidh Krishna dismantles the furniture behind Alex Carey and the wicket India needed, has come. Little full from Prasidh and Carey leaves a big gap between bat and pad as he comes forward. The ball sneaks through to dislodge the bails. Big wicket for India.
IND Vs AUS, 5th Test Day 2 Live Score
India have not been able to put pressure on Australia in the way the Australians did on Indian batters. The runs have not stopped. Boundaries keep coming. Wicket is the need of the hour for the Indian team here.

IND Vs AUS, 5th Test Day 2 Live Score
Another crucial partnership for Australia. Carey alongside debutant Webster is steering Australia towards cutting down India’s lead. India would want a wicket soon now.
India Vs Australia, 5th Test Day 2 Live Score: FOUR
Bumrah provides Carey with enough width for the wicket-keeper batter to slash hard at it and get a four to deep backward point. Second boundary of the session. Both overs so far have seen one boundary. India would not like that.
India Vs Australia, 5th Test Day 2 Live Score: Second Session
We are back for the second session now. Players are back on the field. Webster and Carey will have to do the heavylifting if Australia are to cross India’s first innings total. Bumrah once again will be key for India.
India Vs Australia, 5th Test Day 2 Live Score: Lunch
First session done. India got four wickets. Australia pushed their score close to 100. Another good session of cricket. The tussle goes on. We will head for a break.
India Vs Australia, 5th Test Day 2 Live Score: WICKET
Totally against the run of play. Smith was looking really good but Prasidh has forced him to edge one. Massive wicket for India.Rahul takes the catch and India get an important wicket.
India Vs Australia, 5th Test Day 2 Live Score: AUS 92/4 (26)
All of a sudden, Australia are now on the front foot thanks to this stand. 50-run partnership is up between Webster and Smith. They do not taken 15 overs for that. Last few overs have been really bad for India. They canot leak runs. Thy do not have many.
India Vs Australia, 5th Test Day 2 Live Score: Four
Another boundary. India can not afford consistent loose balls. This was short and wide from Siraj and Smith slammed it in the off side to add four runsto his tally.
India Vs Australia, 5th Test Day 2 Live Score: Maiden
Bumrah with his first maiden of this innings. He has already taken two wickets and now he is trying to help Prasidh by creating pressure from one end. But Prasidh needs to sort his length issue. For Australia, Webster and Smith both are looking good. The pitch has quickened up but it is not seaming as wildly as it did yesterday and that is good news for Australia. It still has a lot of juice though and Indian bowlers would not let Aussies have it easy.
India Vs Australia, 5th Test Day 2 Live Score: FOUR
Krishna is leaking runs here. Short ball and Webster seemed to have enough time to sit back and slam his pull to the mid-wicket region for a boundary. The tall pacer bowled his first over maiden but in the next two overs he has gone for 14.
India Vs Australia, 5th Test Day 2 Live Score: SIX
Smith launches this short ball from Prasidh Krishna over the mid-wicket fence for a maximum. This came out of nowhere. Krishna was bowling well but perhaps became a bit too predictable with his length and Smith gets a six.
Boundary to finish the over. This was a bad ball. Short and wide. Smith slaps it to the cover boundary. And that also brings up 50 for Australia. Things not going easy for this batting unit.
India Vs Australia, 5th Test Day 2 Live Score: WICKET
Travis Head is out off the third ball he has faced. Siraj gets two in an over and the match has completely turned now. Siraj finds extra bounce from the short of a good length spot and Head can do no better than edge the ball to KL Rahul in the slips. The dangerous Head is now going back to the pavillion. India right on top now.
Beau Webster is the new man in.
India Vs Australia, 5th Test Day 2 Live Score: WICKET
Konstas gone and India celebrate wildly. The crowd is loving it. At least the Indians in the crowd. Huge boos also sound at the SCG. Full ball from Siraj inviting Konstas to drive. The youngster obliges only to get a thick edge to gully where Jaiswal takes the catch. India get their third scalp.
Konstas c Jaiswal b Siraj 23(38)
India Vs Australia, 5th Test Day 2 Live Score: FOUR
Konstas brings out his reverse sweep. Batters think twice before attempting this shot even in T20s against Bumrah but this 19-year-old has just detached himself from the consequences. He has found yet another boundary with the reverse.
India Vs Australia, 5th Test Day 2 Live Score: WICKET
Marnus Labuschagne c Pant b Bumrah 2(8)
There it is. Jasprit Bumrah just can not stop taking wickets. Length ball outside off. It keeps rising on Labuschagne as he hangs hit bat. The ball takes a faint edge and goes into the gloves of the wicket-keeper. Umpire does not give it out. So, Bumrah takes a review and the third umpire finds the edge. Labuschagne departs. India start with an important wicket.
India Vs Australia, 5th Test Day 2 Live Score
A watchful start to the day from Australia. Konstas seems to be curbing his insticts while Labuschagne is taking his time. It is sunny today at the SCG unlike yesterday when it was overcast. Will that ease out conditions for batting? We will soon know.
India Vs Australia, 5th Test Day 2 Live Score: Play Begins
Here we go then. Sam Konstas takes strike with Marnus Labuschagne being his partner. India scored 185 in the first innings. Mohammed Siraj will bowl the first over of the day.
India Vs Australia, 5th Test Day 2 Live Score: Start Time, Streaming Details
The first ball on the second day of the fifth and final Test will be bowled at 5am IST, like the first day. The match is being live streamed on the Disney+Hotstar app and website and Star Sports TV channels in India.
In a thrilling turn of events, Rishabh Pant has departed after a rapid 66-run innings to put India on the front foot in the ongoing match. Pant’s aggressive batting style and quick runs have given India the upper hand in the game.
The young wicketkeeper-batsman displayed his attacking prowess once again, taking on the opposition bowlers with confidence and flair. His innings has not only boosted India’s total but has also put pressure on the opposition.
Pant’s departure may have come as a blow to the Indian team, but his quickfire innings has certainly put them in a strong position. With his aggressive approach and ability to score quickly, Pant has once again proven to be a valuable asset for the team.
As India looks to build on their advantage, Pant’s innings will be remembered as a crucial contribution in putting the team on the front foot. His fearless approach to batting has once again shown why he is considered one of the most exciting young talents in world cricket.
Now, it’s up to the rest of the Indian team to capitalize on the momentum provided by Pant’s innings and push for a commanding position in the match. With the game finely poised, all eyes will be on how India capitalizes on this opportunity and builds a strong total to put the opposition under pressure.

When U.S. Rep. Lauren Boebert decided to drop her second reelection bid for the 3rd Congressional District, switching to an Eastern Plains district where she knew she would stand a better chance at staying in Congress, things were upended on both ends of the state.
At the time, Democrat Adam Frisch was surging not only in the polls, but also in campaign contributions. With Boebert in the race, national political pundits put the 3rd CD in a toss-up category primarily because she had barely defeated Frisch in 2022 by a mere 546 votes.
Then Grand Junction attorney Jeff Hurd entered the race to challenge Boebert for the GOP primary, quickly gaining steam, pulling in unprecedented campaign donations for a first-time candidate, and winning numerous endorsements, including from former long-time supporters of Boebert.
While Boebert never admitted that she might have lost to Hurd in the primary, or barring that, to Frisch in the general, the writing was on the wall for many that her time in Congress could come to an end.
But then U.S. Rep. Ken Buck, a Republican, decided not to seek reelection to his seat after winning five terms in the 4th Congressional District, Boebert saw a chance to continue her political career. Buck later resigned that seat.
“I did not arrive at this decision easily,” Boebert said on a Facebook video in December 2023 announcing her switch to the 4th. “A lot of prayer, a lot of tough conversations and a lot of perspective convinced me that this is the best way I can continue to fight for Colorado, for the conservative movement and for my children’s future.”
Buck said he decided not to seek another term, and later left Congress back in March, he did so because he was tired of the vitriolic nature of Congress, saying there was so much bickering not between Democrats and Republicans, but among his own party, including Boebert.
The Associated Press
FILE – Rep. Ken Buck, R-Colo., pictured in this October 2023 file photo, announced that he would resign his 4th Congressional District seat on March 22.
The Associated Press
“A lot of this is personal,” Buck said on CNN at the time. “Instead of having decorum, instead of acting in a professional manner, this place has really devolved into this bickering and nonsense.”
Buck said the previous year was his worst out of his nine years on the job.
That opened the door to more than half a dozen other Republicans to enter the race, all of whom were just as surprised to see Boebert enter it as candidates in the 3rd were shocked at her departure.
She ended up handily winning that GOP primary against five other candidates, taking in nearly 44% of the vote.
Boebert later went on to defeat Democrat Trisha Calvarese by more than 11 percentage points, far less than the 26% favorable margin conservative candidates have in that district.
Hurd went on to defeat Frisch by more than 5 percentage points.
He and Boebert, along with the rest of Congress, will be sworn in on Jan. 3.
In a surprising turn of events, Lauren Boebert has announced her departure from Colorado’s 3rd Congressional District, with fellow Republican Will Hurd emerging as the winner of the seat. Boebert, known for her outspoken conservative views and controversial statements, has chosen to step down from her position, leaving many constituents wondering about the future of the district.
Hurd, a former CIA officer and congressman from Texas, has positioned himself as a more moderate voice within the Republican Party. His win in the 3rd Congressional District signals a potential shift in the political landscape of Western Colorado, as voters may be seeking a more centrist representative to address their needs and concerns.
As Hurd prepares to take on the responsibilities of representing the 3rd Congressional District, it remains to be seen how he will navigate the diverse interests and opinions of his constituents. Will he be able to unite the district and effectively advocate for their needs in Washington, or will he face challenges in a politically polarized environment?
Only time will tell how Hurd’s tenure in office will unfold, but one thing is certain: the departure of Boebert and the election of Hurd mark a significant moment in the political history of Western Colorado.

Wayne Rooney has departed as manager of second-tier Plymouth Argyle after agreeing to mutually parts ways with the club after 25 games.

“Plymouth Argyle can confirm that the club and Head Coach Wayne Rooney have mutually agreed to part ways with immediate effect,” Plymouth said in a statement on Tuesday.
The news follows disappointing spells for Rooney at Derby County, D.C. United and Birmingham City, who were relegated to League One following Rooney’s disastrous 15-game run.
Plymouth, having finished a place above Birmingham last year, will now hope to avoid the same fate.
“To the Green Army thanks for making the games at Home Park so special, they are memories that we will share forever,” Rooney said in a statement.
“Plymouth Argyle will always hold a special place in my heart, and I will continue to look out for and take interest in their results.”

If there’s one actor who is synonymous with the action genre, it’s Liam Neeson. He’s made a career out of playing no-nonsense heroes who aren’t afraid to get their hands dirty, and are as skilled with their fists as they are with a phone call warning (if you know, you know). Fans of the actor will be disheartened to learn that one of his popular action thrillers, Non-Stop, is officially leaving Netflix on Jan. 1, 2025. So, if you were planning on starting the New Year watching a Federal Air Marshal battling a bad guy on a transatlantic flight, better buckle up and catch it before it leaves the streaming platform.
Released in 2014, Non-Stop stars Neeson as Bill Marks, a jaded U.S. Air Marshal dealing with personal demons and a fear of flying by getting on a transatlantic flight. During the journey, Marks receives a series of cryptic messages from an unknown sender who threatens to kill a passenger every 20 minutes unless $150 million is transferred to a secret bank account. As the plot thickens, Marks must race against time and use all his training and experience to identify the elusive criminal in a plane full of potential suspects.
Directed by Jaume Collet-Serra, who is known for handling suspense and action really well, Non-Stop also features an incredible supporting cast. Julianne Moore plays Jen Summers, a fellow passenger who switches seats with Marks to sit by the window. Michelle Dockery stars as Nancy, a flight attendant who reluctantly gets caught up in the chaos, while Lupita Nyong’o makes a memorable appearance as Gwen, another flight attendant. Neeson, as always, delivers a tense and realistic performance as the tormented Air Marshal trying to save the day.
Why You Should Watch ‘Non-Stop’ Before It Leaves Netflix
Liam Neeson may be best known for playing former spy Brian Mills in the Taken trilogy, but the veteran actor has always shared the screen with some of the most talented stars in the industry. From his Academy Award-winning turn in Schindler’s List to his scene-stealing cameo in Love Actually, Neeson’s collaborations have consistently been a highlight in his career. Non-Stop is no different, with Neeson sharing a seamless chemistry with Moore and Dockery, and the trio playing off each other’s strengths to create an engaging narrative.
The epic streaming giant Netflix is no stranger to exciting and cutting-edge content, and these great thriller movies are no exception.
Additionally, Non-Stop is a masterclass in maintaining its relentless pace and suspense from the beginning to the very end. Collet-Serra made sure to ratchet up the tension, leaving viewers on the edge of their seats with each new twist and turn. Several scenes stand out for their intensity, such as the harrowing moment when Marks discovers the first victim, and the climactic showdown in the plane’s cargo hold. It’s both mesmerizing and emotionally demanding to watch, and critics seem to agree, with one review describing it as a movie that’s “so ridiculously entertaining in spite of its occasional lapses in real-world logic.”
At the box office, Non-Stopperformed exceptionally well, grossing over $222 million worldwide against a production budget of $50 million. Critics aptly praised Neeson’s performance for this achievement, noting how the actor “has shown time and again that he’s the closest thing Hollywood has these days to a box office Rumpelstiltskin. He can spin cheese into gold.” That said, Non-Stop is a must-see for any Liam Neeson fan. But don’t wait too long, because come Jan. 1, 2025, this quintessential thriller will leave Netflix.
