OL Colton McKivitz and S Ji’Ayir Brown Active for Week 17 vs. Lions; Inactives for #DETvsSF

The San Francisco 49ers will look to at least a couple newly signed and younger players to help carry the offensive line in Week 17. Injuries over the course of the second half of the season have resulted in left guard Aaron Banks (knee) and left tackles Trent Williams (ankle) and Jaylon Moore (quad) landing on the Injured Reserve list while swing offensive lineman Spencer Burford battles a calf injury. There was, however, some good news on the injury front ahead of gameday. Despite sitting out for most the week with a knee injury, right tackle Colton McKivitz will be active for the “Monday Night Football” matchup.

San Francisco recently signed offensive linemen Austen Pleasants and Charlie Heck, both of whom will suit up against the Lions. For additional reinforcement, Drake Nugent was elevated from the practice squad on Monday afternoon.

On the other side of the ball, safety Ji’Ayir Brown was also given the green light to play in San Francisco’s final home game of the year.

Avery (5-11, 185) originally entered the NFL after signing with the Tennessee Titans as an undrafted free agent on May 13, 2022. Throughout his three-year career, Avery has appeared in 38 games (five starts) and registered 54 tackles, 11 passes defensed and one fumble recovery.
