  • Canadiens vs Devils Prediction, Picks & Odds for Tonight’s NHL Game

Both sides possess elite offensive talent, which is bad news for the pair of netminders tonight. Grab your popcorn; we’re in for a show!

Photo By – Imagn Images. Montreal Canadiens forward Cole Caufield (13) celebrates with teammates after scoring a goal.

The Montreal Canadiens haven’t lost consecutive games in more than five weeks. They’ll attempt to keep that streak alive at home Saturday against the New Jersey Devils.

My Devils vs. Canadiens predictions see the two sides going blow for blow in a high-scoring, high-event affair.

Let’s break things down further with my NHL picks for January 25.

    Canadiens vs Devils prediction

    My Canadiens pick
    Over 6 (-120 at BET99)

    My Canadiens analysis
The Montreal Canadiens have played in some very high-scoring games of late, with their last six outings featuring 42 goals.

Cole Caufield, Nick Suzuki, and Lane Hutson have caused consistent problems for opposing defenses while Juraj Slafkovsky and Patrik Laine have heated up of late as well.

Slafkovsky has goals in three of his past five games and Laine has six points spanning a four-game point streak. Add it all up, and the Canadiens’ offense is very difficult to slow down.

Although the New Jersey Devils have defended at a high level for much of the season, Jacob Markstrom has also helped mask some problems. He is sidelined for the next four to six weeks, meaning Jake Allen will take over as the starter for the foreseeable future.

His floor and ceiling on any given night are much lower than that of Markstrom. The proof is in the pudding, as Allen has won only six of 15 decisions for a team that sits fourth in the Eastern Conference in points.

Montreal’s offense, which ranks Top 10 in 5-on-5 shots, expected goals, and goals over the past 10 games, is likely to cause Allen problems.

The Devils have the horses to keep up: Jack Hughes, Nico Hischier, Jesper Bratt, and Timo Meier are capable of taking over games on any given night. Those four stars are spread across three lines in Sheldon Keefe’s current variation of the lineup, making the Devils a difficult team to match up against.

We’ve seen a slippage in Montreal’s defensive game of late as well. The Habs rank 31st in expected goals against at 5-on-5 over the last 10 games, meaning they’re likely to put a lot on the plate of their goaltender.

Canadiens vs Devils same-game parlay (SGP)

    Over 6

    Cole Caufield anytime goalscorer

    Jesper Bratt Over 0.5 points

Cole Caufield has scored every other game on average yet hasn’t found the back of the net in five straight.

It certainly isn’t due to a lack of opportunity, as Caufield leads the Canadiens in shot attempts, shots on target, scoring chances, and expected goals over the past five games. They just haven’t found twine.

Caufield has scored nearly six goals more than expected this season, a sign of his elite finishing. He has the talent to overmatch opposing goaltenders, and drawing a backup rather than a high-end starter in Markstrom should help his cause.

Jesper Bratt has points in 70% of New Jersey’s games this season, and he’s hit the scoresheet in eight of the past 10 against Montreal. If this turns into the high-scoring affair I expect it to, Bratt is very likely to get in on the fun.

  • Devils Earn Big OT Win in Montreal | GAME STORY

A turnover late in overtime was the difference as Timo Meier picked up a loose puck and pushed it ahead to Jack. His shot glove side on the breakaway beat Montreal rookie goaltender Jakub Dobes.

Almost 16 minutes into the game, the Devils opened the scoring. Jesper Bratt picked up the puck along the side boards then circled and drove down the slot. He dished the puck over to the captain Nico Hischier who put it in past Dobes

Less than two minutes later, Bratt hit the scoresheet again, this time as the goal scorer. He picked up the puck behind the Montreal net, looped out in front and backhanded it past Dobes from the top of the left circle.

After one period, shots on goal were 12-6 for the Devils.

The Canadiens cut New Jersey’s lead in half almost four minutes into the middle frame. Cole Caufield centered the puck to Nick Suzuki who one-timed a blast in.

Tomas Tatar was rewarded with his hard work as the Devils regained their two-goal edge. Tatar redirected a point shot from Dougie Hamilton then jumped on his own rebound, pushing the puck over the line to make it a 3-1 game.

Montreal narrowed the gap again late in the second. Suzuki dropped the puck to Caufield and Caufield took a wrist shot from the high slot, firing it past Allen.

The Habs outshot the Devils 16-15 in the second and after 40 minutes, it was 28-21 for the Devils.

Montreal came out strong to start the third period and it resulted in the tying goal 3:34 in. Alexandre Carrier one-timed a blast from the blueline past a screened Allen to tie it up at 3-3.

After the Canadiens goal, the Devils started to tilt the ice back in their favor. The put a lot of pucks towards the goal with Montreal blocking a handful and Dobes having to come up big multiple times.

At the end of regulation, shots on goal were 41-29 for the Devils.

The New Jersey Devils pulled off a thrilling overtime victory against the Montreal Canadiens on Saturday night, earning a 3-2 win in a back-and-forth battle at the Bell Centre.

The Devils got off to a strong start, with Nico Hischier scoring just 26 seconds into the game to give New Jersey an early lead. However, the Canadiens responded with goals from Brendan Gallagher and Jeff Petry to take a 2-1 lead heading into the third period.

But the Devils fought back, with Andreas Johnsson scoring a late goal to tie the game and force overtime. In the extra frame, it was Pavel Zacha who played hero, scoring the game-winning goal to secure the victory for New Jersey.

Goalie Mackenzie Blackwood was stellar between the pipes for the Devils, making 37 saves and coming up big in key moments throughout the game.

The win was a much-needed boost for the Devils, who have been struggling as of late. It was a hard-fought victory against a tough opponent, and one that the team hopes will help turn their season around.

The Devils will look to build on this win as they continue their road trip, with their next game against the Ottawa Senators. After a thrilling victory in Montreal, the Devils will be looking to carry that momentum into their upcoming matchups and continue their climb up the standings.

Please keep your language clean (this means no swearing, don’t mask it, it’s not enough, no I don’t care what Tom Fitzgerald said), respect your fellow Devils fan with no personal attacks (play nice or you will not play here), no illegal streams (this means no asking, no hints, no nothing about it), and please keep your comments relevant to this game. • Devils Recent Slump Could Prove Crucial For Bruins

With only two wins in their last eleven, the New Jersey Devils are giving the Boston Bruins an opportunity to pick up two desperately needed points in their contest Wednesday night.

The Devils average 1.8 goals per game and 2.8 goals allowed per game, giving the Bruins the chance to capitalize on their power play, which has begun to heat up as the Devil’s power play grinds to an almost halt.

For more, check out the video above from “Bruins Face-Off Live,” presented by EchoStor Technology.

The Boston Bruins are currently sitting in a playoff spot in the competitive East Division, but they are closely trailing the New Jersey Devils, who have hit a recent slump. The Devils have lost their last five games, allowing the Bruins to gain ground in the standings.

This slump could prove crucial for the Bruins, as they look to secure their spot in the playoffs. With only a few games left in the regular season, every point matters. If the Devils continue to struggle, the Bruins could potentially overtake them and secure a higher seed in the playoffs.

The Bruins have been playing strong hockey as of late, with key players stepping up and contributing to the team’s success. If they can continue their winning ways and take advantage of the Devils’ struggles, they could find themselves in a better position heading into the postseason.

While the Devils may still have time to turn things around, their recent slump could prove to be a turning point in the season. The Bruins will be looking to capitalize on this opportunity and make a strong push towards the playoffs.

  • Bruins Going With Interesting Lineup Against Devils

The Boston Bruins will be playing the New Jersey Devils tonight at the Prudential Center. This is an important contest for the Original Six club, as a win would allow them to pass the Tampa Bay Lightning, Ottawa Senators, and Montreal Canadiens in the standings.

View the original article to see embedded media.

For this contest against the Devils, the Bruins’ forward group will have one notable change. Mark Kastelic was placed on injured reserve yesterday, so he will not be in the lineup against New Jersey. With this, recent call-up and fellow gritty forward Max Jones will replace him in the lineup on the fourth line, with John Beecher and Justin Brazeau as his linemates.

The Boston Bruins are shaking things up as they prepare to take on the New Jersey Devils tonight. Head coach Bruce Cassidy has decided to go with an interesting lineup, making some surprising changes to the team’s usual combinations.

One of the most notable changes is the decision to move veteran forward Patrice Bergeron to the second line, alongside Jake DeBrusk and Craig Smith. This move is sure to bring a new dynamic to the team’s offense, as Bergeron’s defensive prowess and playmaking abilities will complement DeBrusk and Smith’s scoring touch.

On the defensive end, Cassidy has also made some changes, pairing Charlie McAvoy with newcomer Derek Forbort. This pairing brings together McAvoy’s offensive skills with Forbort’s physicality and defensive awareness, creating a formidable duo on the blue line.

In goal, the Bruins will be starting rookie Jeremy Swayman, who has been impressive in his limited NHL appearances so far this season. Swayman’s athleticism and composure in net have earned him the trust of the coaching staff, and he will be looking to continue his strong play against the Devils.

Overall, the Bruins’ lineup for tonight’s game is sure to provide fans with an exciting and unpredictable matchup. With key players in new roles and fresh combinations on the ice, Boston will be looking to secure a crucial win against a tough opponent in the Devils. Stay tuned to see how this new lineup performs on the ice tonight. Let’s go Bruins!

  • Devils Fall to Sens  | GAME STORY

Here are some observations from the game:

    • Sheldon Keefe deployed the Devils’ line of Tomas Tatar, Curtis Lazar, and Nathan Bastian against the Senators’ top line of Brady Tkachuk, Josh Noris, and Drake Batherson for much of the afternoon. Trying to contain top-end talent led by the Sens captain, Tkachuk, is no easy feat, but the Lazar line stuck to the assignment while also creating their own opportunities. After 20 minutes of play, neither Tkachuk, Noris or Batherson had registered a shot on goal, but the Lazar line had six against Anton Forsberg.

The Tatar goal came just 1:26 after the Senators had opened the scoring on a Zach Ostapchuk shot squeaking through Jacob Markstrom’s arm.

    • Shots were 7-0 for New Jersey when the Lazar line was on the ice through 40 minutes of play.

    • Ostapchuk’s first career goal came on the Senators’ seventh shot of the game.

    • The Devils hit 13 shots in the game before the first period was over, with just over four minutes to play in the first. The 13 shots were the total they reached through all 60 minutes on Saturday against the Flyers. New Jersey finished the first period with 17 shots, holding the Senators to just two. The Senators registered their first shot 10:30 into the period.

Senators goaltender Anton Forsberg was excellent in the opening 20 minutes, turning away every shot he faced. Forsberg proved to be the backbone of the Senators for the first period, mainly as the Devils continuously applied extended pressure and carried most of the play.

What was most encouraging was that New Jersey had moments where it could access its rush game and create offensive pressure without simultaneously sacrificing its defensive efforts. The Devils gave up little to the Senators, just two shots on Jacob Markstrom, and were quick to separate Ottawa from the puck, limiting its offensive zone presence.

    • Justin Dowling returned to the lineup after not playing on Saturday. Brian Halonen was a healthy scratch.

In a surprising turn of events, the New Jersey Devils fell to the Ottawa Senators in a close game on Saturday night. Despite their best efforts, the Devils were unable to overcome the Senators’ strong defense and fell short in a 3-2 loss.

The game started off with both teams trading goals in the first period, but it was the Senators who took the lead with a power play goal in the second period. The Devils fought back and tied the game in the third period, but the Senators responded with another goal to regain the lead.

Despite a late push from the Devils, they were unable to find the back of the net and ultimately fell short in their comeback attempt. The loss was a tough blow for the Devils, who had been on a hot streak in recent games.

Overall, it was a hard-fought game between two competitive teams, but in the end, the Senators came out on top. The Devils will look to regroup and bounce back in their next game as they continue their push for a playoff spot.

The Song of the Evening: Josh Scogin has continued his musical work with ‘68. The garage-ish chaotic rock continues to, well, rock. The evidence for that is evident in songs like “Removed Their Hooks,” which comes from the album Yes, and…

  • Ottawa Senators vs New Jersey Devils Prediction, Odds and Picks

The Ottawa Senators posted a surprising 6-5 victory in a shootout on Saturday, as rookie Leevi Merilainen finally showed some signs of being a rookie on Saturday. For Sunday’s game, they’ll turn to veteran Anton Forsberg. The Over cashed in Saturday’s shootout, snapping a seven-game run to the Under. The total has also gone low at a rather impressive 15-2-4 clip across the past 21 outings. The Senators offense has struggled to score goals on a regular basis, going for 2.9 goals per game to rank 21st in the NHL, although the power play does cash in at a 23.6 percent clip, good for 10th. The defense is so-so, allowing goals at a 2.8 GPG clip, good for 12th in the league.

For the Devils, they were tripped up 3-1 at home against the Philadelphia Flyers, as they took care of backup Jake Allen. He wasn’t bad, as he allowed just two goals, but received next to no offensive support. All the Devils could muster was an early goal from Dougie Hamilton. The good news is that Jacob Markstrom will be back between the pipes on Sunday. The total has gone low in six of the past seven starts for Markstrom, while going 18-3 across the past 21 games for the Devils dating all the way back to Dec. 2. While the Over is 4-1 in the past five meetings, the Under hit in the only battle this season. New Jersey won 3-1 on Oct. 17 in Canada’s capital city. Let’s go low, and feel confident in doing so.

Senators vs Devils prediction: Under 5.5 (+100) at time of publishing. Playable to -115.

The Ottawa Senators will face off against the New Jersey Devils in an exciting matchup on Thursday night. Both teams are looking to secure a much-needed win, but who will come out on top?

The Ottawa Senators have struggled this season, currently sitting near the bottom of the standings. However, they have shown flashes of potential with some impressive wins against top teams. With standout players like Brady Tkachuk and Thomas Chabot leading the way, the Senators have the ability to compete with any team in the league.

On the other hand, the New Jersey Devils have had a mediocre season so far, but they have the talent to turn things around. Players like Jack Hughes and Nico Hischier have been playing well and could be the difference-makers in this matchup.

In terms of odds, the Senators are slight underdogs in this game, but they have shown they can compete with any team on any given night. The Devils are favored to win, but the Senators could easily pull off an upset.

My prediction for this game is that it will be a close one, with both teams putting up a good fight. However, I believe the Ottawa Senators will come out on top in a hard-fought battle. My pick is the Senators to win this game.

What are your thoughts on this matchup? Do you agree with my prediction, or do you think the New Jersey Devils will secure the victory? Let me know in the comments below!

  • Senators vs Devils Prediction, Picks & Odds for Today’s NHL Game

The Ottawa Senators put up six goals yesterday and Todd Cordell expects the goals to continue on Sunday vs. the New Jersey Devils.

Todd Cordell - Betting Analyst at Covers.com

The Ottawa Senators were able to get back in the win column Saturday afternoon, picking up a much-needed two points against the rival Boston Bruins in a wild back-and-forth affair.

My Senators vs. Devils predictions see more offense in the cards on Sunday, which is usually the case when these two sides square off.

Let’s break things down further with NHL picks for Sunday, January 19.

    Senators vs Devils prediction

    My Senators pick
    Over 5.5 (-113 at Pinnacle)

    My Senators analysis

The Ottawa Senators played in a barn burner Saturday afternoon, grinding out a 6-5 victory over the rival Boston Bruins.

I don’t expect the total to reach those heights on Sunday but I do see value in backing the Over in this game.

The New Jersey Devils have defended very well this season but we’ve seen some slippage in their game of late, which coincides with winning just two of their past 10 games.

They have given up 3.05 expected goals per 60 minutes, putting them in company with the Sabres and Rangers.

Their penalty kill has struggled as well, giving up five goals on just 12 opportunities over the past handful of games. There are some avenues the Senators are capable of exploiting to create offense.

On the flip side, the Devils have underperformed offensively of late. They haven’t generated chances at the same clip as much of the year but this is a team that ranks Top 3 in expected goals generated on the season. They also rank just outside the Top 10 in goals per game. They have it in them to score.

Struggling or not, the Devils are likely to pose problems for Anton Forsberg. He has allowed at least three goals in eight consecutive games and he hasn’t played in 10 days, which is a fairly long layoff in between appearances.

The Devils should be able to score their fair share of goals, pushing the Senators to open up offensively and fight fire with fire — much like we saw against the Bruins yesterday.

Seven of the past eight meetings between these two teams have featured at least six goals. Look for that trend to continue in this one.

    Senators vs Devils odds analysis

There hasn’t been much of a shift on the moneyline since opening. The Devils moved from -186 to -190 but the market quickly bought back on the Senators and the current odds sit within two cents of the opening line.

Despite the home team’s recent struggles, they still sit tied for 6th in the NHL in points and are being respected accordingly in the market.

The total has also held firm, with the Under opening at +103 and moving just three cents to an even +100.

With stars like Brady Tkachuk, Tim Stutzle, Jack Hughes, Jesper Bratt, and Nico Hischier, I expect the market to proceed with caution on the Under – even with both teams playing in tight games so frequently.
